If the menu says carbonara, I don't expect cream ham pasta.

I have been visiting the restaurant for many years, but I have to honestly say that both the quality of the food and the service have deteriorated significantly. It was the 3rd chance. Unfortunately it will definitely be a long time before we come back. A real shame..

I don't think the restaurant is as good as it used to be. The staff seemed overwhelmed and inattentive, empty plates stood there for over an hour and nobody cared even though the waiters walked past several times. And it's not exactly clean either. A pity

So in itself it was okay, but they should renew their menu, it didn't look that nice, the food was okay, I just thought it was a shame that none of the waiters could say what the dish with the 3 different types of pasta was and wasn't whether they had a certain dessert and I had to wait a long time for my pizza, it was okay, the staff was in a very good mood and funny, but they should train their waitresses more and bring them up to date. I'm a bit disappointed because it's on the internet It looked very hopeful but unfortunately it didn't meet my expectations

Very cozy restaurant with a beautiful roof terrace and excellent food - the best parlor in the southern part of town!

Delicious food and friendly, cheerful service. As a guest you feel very welcome here. There is a large selection of dishes and the quality of them was impressive. The roof terrace is very cozy, you can relax here. All in all, definitely recommended!

FINALLY GIVE THE COOK HIS MICHELIN STAR!!!!! AND THE WAITERS' KIND OF KINDNESS!! I booked at short notice and unfortunately they didn't have anything available on the terrace. But then they were able to arrange a place for me and my wife. We ordered the daily menu, salmon in lobster sauce and roast veal in truffle sauce with mushrooms. Before that, tomato soup and bruschetta. The store is just wow! Unfortunately no pictures were taken of the food. But just believe me! Order the exact same things!

I ordered the food home, paid online and after 44 minutes my order was canceled for no reason. At the time of the cancellation, the restaurant was still open for more than an hour until closing time. Now all other options are already closed for delivery, I think it's a shame that it won't be canceled promptly if the owners don't like it.

We really enjoyed the food and the service was friendly and helpful. They were great with our 8 year son also. i would recommend and hope to be back one day.

For us the best Italian in Nuremberg

We hadn't been there for a long time and immediately felt at home again. As if time had stood still. Everything was as usual, although there was a change in boss some time ago. No wonder, the new boss was previously an employed waiter at Ciao. The food is OK, but the biggest advantage is the nice, relaxed, informal atmosphere. So everything is perfect? Depends on. If we lived in the southern part of the city, we would definitely come back more often. But we don't live in the Südstadt, not even in Nuremberg. And finding a parking space in this part of town is quite annoying. But Ciao can't do anything about that.

We went there on the recommendation of a colleague (twice now, once in the back dining room and once upstairs on the terrace). In the back dining room it was a bit cramped and therefore noisy when the room was full. The roof terrace is very nice and definitely recommended when the weather is good! The service was very competent and every employee always had a quick saying (not everyone likes it - but we found it very funny). The pizzas are definitely really delicious. We've had better ones, but they're still very high quality.

There was salmon with vegetables. I thought there was sauce with salmon. The food was solid. I wasn't impressed with the presentation on the plate. The decor isn't high quality, but overall it's not bad and you can eat there.

I was there for the first time today. The service is the only thing that stood out. Very friendly and humorous. Unfortunately the food was only average to bad. Example: Carbonara with cream and ham. So a real Italian should know how to do it properly. Calamari were ok but not seasoned at all. Tiramisu was delicious. So it was probably my last visit here.

We were in Nuremberg for the weekend and came across this great Italian restaurant. The welcome was warm and very accommodating. There was an additional menu with special dishes and it was difficult to decide. The food was excellent and I can only recommend it. Don't let the surroundings put you off, it's really worth it! We'll definitely be back! Thank you!

The food was very good, the atmosphere was a little quiet, I think it is one of the nice places to go with family and friends, I tried the pasta with olives, it was very good, we went to celebrate our friend's birthday and they helped us, they had a friendly staff, but the food came a little late.

One of the very first Italian restaurants in Nuremberg and it feels like entering a classic Italian restaurant from the 70s or 80s, very characteristic. Incredibly helpful and friendly staff to laugh and joke with. Very good Italian food but take advice on the fresh things they have and you will hardly go wrong.

Very nice experience and starting point for our vacation. Came without a reservation (you should make one) and got a nice seat by the window. The eggs benedict were divine. Thank you also for the extremely friendly and courteous service

Ein wahnsinnig schönes Restaurant. Man denkt am Anfang nicht, dass es sich so weit nach hinten zieht und wird überrascht. Das Essen und der Service waren einfach nur erstklassig, auf alles wird geachtet. Einfach perfekt, gerne wieder.

Lucked upon this place by chance. Got a table easily and had one of the very best Italian meals with definitely the best service. We got the Lasagna, Gnocchi and Tiramisu. They were delicious and huge portions. Very reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

Wir haben zur Abholung bestellt, da wir in der Nähe wohnen und immer noch irgendwie an der Überzeug halten wollten, dass es einer von den besten Pizza- Läden in Nürnberg wäre. Aber man muss sagen, jedes Mal wird die Ernüchterung nur noch größer : letztes Mal wurde eine ganz andere Pizza statt der bestellten zubereitet(ok, passiert mal, war aber trotzdem unangenehm). Diesmal, Pizza die Buffala, die standesgemäß mit den frischen Basilikum-Blätter kommt, hat sie irgendwo auf dem Weg „verloren“. Den zusätzlichen Belag (Egerlinge), den man bestellt hat, war von der Menge her nur die Hälfte von einer „Standard-Option“(hatten einen guten Vergleich bei der anderen mitbestellten Pizza), obwohl man dafür 1,10€ zusätzlich zahlen müsste. Obwohl die Bestellung zu dem vereinbarten Zeitpunkt abgeholt wurde( wir wohnen 2 min. zu Fuß entfernt), war Pizza bereits kaum warm. Der Teig angebrannt und mit entsprechendem Beigeschmack. Zum ersten Mal habe ich mir überlegt, auch einen Vorspeisenteller zu bestellen. Die Enttäuschung war enorm : Die Paar trockene und verwelkten Dinge für 12,30€, die nacht nichts schmecken - das wird sicher nicht noch ein mal passieren. Also ja, von der Qualität, was man früher von Ciao kannte, ist wohl keine Spur mehr geblieben. Sehr schade.

Obwohl wir wirklich spät am Abend erst gekommen sind, sind wir sehr zuvorkommend bedient worden und haben ein sehr leckeres Essen bekommen :):):) gerne wieder!

Ich liebe das ciao - immer freundlicher Service. Stets leckeres frisches Essen. Meistens Super Extras... Hundefreundlich. Einzig, was nett wäre, ein Schnapserl, kleines dolce o. ä. zum Abschluss - zumindest bei "großer" Rechnung

Ich war gestern das erste Mal dort, hatte keine großen Erwartungen, da Südstadtpizzeria... Dachte erst, dass kann ja nichts aufregendes werden, aber ich wurde vom Gegenteil überzeugt! Ich hatte Nudeln mit Muscheln und die waren wirklich fantastisch. Der Service hat viel Humor und immer einen lockeren Spruch parat. Auch die anderen in unserer Runde waren sehr zufrieden mit Essen und Getränken. Pizzeria kann ich jedem der mal in der Südstadt ist empfehlen!

Das Essen ist wirklich lecker. Mein einziges Problem wären die viel zu großen Portionen, aber zum Glück kann man es auch mitnehmen

Mehr als eine Überraschung! Von Aussen eher unscheinbar, wollten die Kids noch zum Italiener. Also rein und sehr freundlich empfangen worden. Dieser Eindruck ging durch den ganzen Aufenthalt. Super aufmerksame und freundliche Kellner. Sehr sehr leckere Pizza und Pasta. Preis/Leistung ist gut und fair. Da komme ich gern nochmal wieder, wenn ich wieder in Nürnberg bin. DANKE CIAO.

This place was recommended to me by a landlord of first apartments I stayed in when we first came to Germany. They have amazing pizza's, very good personnel and not that easy to have a free place there, try to book in advance.

Pizza sehr gut. Service auch. Aber in meiner Lasagne war gekochtes Ei, Pilze und Kochschinken… ich glaube das spricht für sich. Das hat einfach nichts in einer Lasagne zu suchen.

We showed up at 2:15pm, hoping for some late lunch. They were due to close at 2:30 to clean up and get ready for dinner service, but agreed to stay open until 3pm if we promised to eat quickly. The food was amazing, and the staff so friendly. Will definitely go back next time I'm in the area. Highly recommend!

Ich bin seit 14 Jahren Stammgast im Ciao und kann sagen, hier gibt's wohl das beste italienische Essen weit und breit! Bestes Pizzabrot, bester Salat, beste Nudeln UND sogar das beste Steak, das ich bisher gegessen habe! Preis-Leistung wohl ebenfalls kaum schlagbar!

Wir haben sehr gut gegessen. Wenn wir Nürnberg wieder besuchen, kommen wir sicher wieder.

Excellent choice! We visited this restaurant twice while we were in Nuremberg. Offers Italian menu mostly, in affordable cost, has roof garden and a very well decorated interior. We tried Pizza, lazania, Cesar's salad, all were very good! It's better to make a reservation before you go I think because it is possible to be full. I also wanted to mention that the staff (especially the greek gentleman) was extremely friendly and helpful. Around the neighborhood I think it's the best restaurant...

Das Essen wie immer gut, die Portionen reichlich. Sehr aufmerksamer und flotter Service. Wegen Corona tw. Plexiglas-Abtrennungen wurden installiert und damit können die Regeln gut eingehalten werden

Nach Lockerung der Corona Regeln führte uns unser erster Weg ins Ciao. Die Reservierung eines Tisches im Netz lief unkompliziert. Nach wenigen Minuten war die Bestätigung der Reservierung da. Aufgrund C19 war die Speisekarte eingeschränkt, die Pizzas (Pizzen) aus dem Holzofen alle verfügbar. Wir saßen auf der Terrasse, Bedienung war freundlich, Essen (Pizza und Calzone) sehr gut. Es wird nicht unser letzter Besuch im Ciao gewesen sein.

We visited this restaurant for dinner on a Monday night. The service was quick. The portions very large. The food was tasty and authentic. The decor is pleasing. Vegetarians have several choices. Menu is in German and English; and the staff speak English too. All in all, a very positive experience!

Spontan hier gewesen und wie immer gut gewesen. Amüsante Kellner in schöner Atmosphäre. Hatten Pasta...einmal mit Parmaschinken und Steinpilzen und einmal mit Rinderfiletstreifen und einer Trüffel-Sahnesauce. Alles gut, preislich in Ordnung und der Wein hat auch geschmeckt.

Zum Glück war ich am späten Abend mit größerem Hunger ausgestattet, denn die Spaghetti frutti dir mare waren ziemlich großzügig portioniert. Qualitativ alles in Ordnung, Pasta al dente, es gibt nichts auszusetzen, das Ganze für knapp über 10 €. Auch der Primitivo aus dem Offenausschank (richtiges Viertel für 5 €) war anstandslos. Der Service war freundlich und aufmerksam. Sicherlich ist das Ambiente nicht ganz modern und auf Hochglanz getrimmt, aber das ist der ganze Stadteil dort nicht und insofern passt das schon und macht auch irgendwie den Charme aus. Ich würde wieder hingehen.

Aufmerksamer Service, freundlich und flott und immer einen netten flotten Spruch auf den Lippen, auch wenn der Laden "brummt". Speisen von gleichbleibender und guter Qualität, ein evtl. Extrawunsch wird erfüllt wenn es geht - alles in Allem: wir kommen immer wieder gerne. Die Terrasse im 1. Stock ist nett und trotz der Innenstadtlage ruhig. Preis/Leistung stimmt

Via een tip van een local kwamen we terecht bij dit aangename restaurant. Het ligt niet in het toeristische centrum, aan de verkeerde kant van het spoor zeg maar, maar het is zeker de moeite van een omwandeling waard. De sfeer bij Ciao is ongedwongen en het duurde niet lang voor ik me er thuis voelde. Als toerist was ik de uitzondering die de regel bevestigde: locals only. Dankzij de vrolijke bediening voelde ik me er op slag thuis. De uitgebreide kaart bevat naast pizza ook diverse vlees- en visgerechten. Ook vegetariërs kunnen met een gerust hart naar Ciao. Ik bestelde een voor- en hoofdgerecht. Omdat ik de hele dag had gereisd was ik te moe voor een toetje, maar dit is een adresje om terug te keren, dus wie weet haal ik de schade nog eens in. Aan prijs-kwaliteitverhouding en sfeer ligt het niet. De obers zijn vakbekwaam en hun aanbevelingen op het gebied van wijn-spijscombinatie waren stuk voor stuk een schot in de roos. De kok weet van wanten en tovert mooie eerlijke gerechten op mooi opgemaakte borden.

We zaten op het terras, jammer dat daar nog gerookt mag worden. De opmaak van de diverse gerechten is eenvoudig maar heerlijk van smaak. De porties zijn groot.

Freiwillig wäre ich nicht rein. Sieht von außen einfach nicht einladend aus. Der Eindruck setzt sich leider innen fort... schlimmer 80er Style und nervige Spiegel überall. Warum dann 4 Punkte? Weil der Rest klasse war. Service, Essen, Preise... alles richtig gut! Augen zu und genießen!

Man fühlt sich hier wie zu Hause, die Kellner sind super freundlich und haben wirklich Ahnung davon was sie machen ! Das Essen schmeckt wahnsinnig toll und die Preise sind angemessen. Es wird perfekt auf den Zeitabstand zwischen Vor- und Hauptspeise geachtet. Wir sind sehr oft hier.. auch die Geräuschkulisse ist sehr angenehm, egal wie voll es ist! Definitiv einen Besuch wert!

You will love a portion size there. Pizza and grill dishes are wonderful, desserts are delicious! Only risotto is questionable. Better reserve at least one day before a visit to be sure that you get a table.
