Christoph Schäfer Dornröschens Weinstube in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler

We can only recommend it again and again. What Christoph Schäfer and his team have achieved here is sensational. The Sleeping Beauty in Heppingen is a wine and beer bar and at the same time a restaurant where you can eat very well. After a hike from Dernau, we stopped by the Sleeping Beauty again. Service: Top!, there's nothing more to say. Drinks: Great selection of wines. The beers from Reissdorf and Bitburger on tap, 0.2l at € 1.90; various wheat 0.5l for € 4.10. The usual non-alcoholic drinks, e.g. 0.7l water for € 4.10. Food: Good selection, there is something for everyone. We had the salad plate with turkey strips for €10.80, Cordon Bleu and Jägerschnitzel each including salad for €18.60. For the kids there was bratwurst with fries for €8.10. So everything at moderate prices. All dishes were freshly prepared, generous portions and, above all, tasted good. Ambiance: The old inn has its own flair, as does the attached tent. A little more decoration would look good outside, but it's currently winter 😉. Otherwise there's nothing to complain about. Conclusion: As always, worth a hike. In terms of price/performance, many a restaurant and some managed hiking huts can take a page from this. We will 100% come back!

We were there with 15 people and felt comfortable right from the start. The service was extremely friendly and attentive. A varied menu with down-to-earth dishes leaves nothing to be desired. All orders (15!) came to the table at the same time and the quality of all dishes was consistently great. We had a wonderful evening. Thank you!

We had dinner there yesterday with a small group. The welcome from the staff was warm, calm and pleasant, despite the tables outside being completely booked. The schnitzels were large and juicy, crispy, simply delicious. We'd love to come back.

We had very tasty tarte flambée and a homemade dessert. All delicious. The innkeepers were very friendly, you immediately felt like a regular guest.

....and again update from June 30, 2024 Again there is nothing to complain about, friendly, quick and the freshly prepared food tasted great. Now the operator has a “European Championship toast” on the Menu, but we decided on other dishes in advance. At some point this EM toast was served at a next table and it looked so appetizing, you should probably try it. We probably won't be able to get it together in time, But perhaps the team with and around Christoph Schäfer will have another culinary input for the Olympic Games. We can only warmly recommend a visit to Sleeping Beauty and always enjoy coming here from Wachtberg. Thanks for a very nice evening to the great team. Update October 15, 2023 It's still very comfortable. The customer-oriented service team around and with the “boss” makes you feel at home. As always, the food was delicious, fresh and plentiful. We will always be happy to come back here. Original review: Today we were guests at a birthday party in the "Sleeping Beauty". Rarely have we immediately felt as comfortable in a restaurant as we did here. A great and attentive team from the cheerful boss to the very nice service staff fully confirmed our first impression. A large selection of freshly prepared tarte flambées richly topped with different ingredients, which can hardly be topped, were served by the owner of the restaurant at perfect intervals. There was also a fresh side salad with house dressing. The younger participants in this celebration were given fresh French fries as an alternative. Drinks were also served quickly and friendly. The menu concluded with a mousse a chocolat, which was made with milk chocolate. Delicious. We miss such an oasis here in Wachtberg, so we would love to come back. Thank you to the very emphatic and friendly team at this location for a very nice afternoon that we will hopefully remember for a long time.

Right on the edge of the vineyards. Rustic and cozy, very tasty and absolutely reasonable in terms of price. Absolute recommendation!

Had dinner at Sleeping Beauty again yesterday. It was super tasty again. All I can say is if you want good food without any frills, this is the place to be. It still tastes like mother cooked and at reasonable prices. But what I particularly like is that the menu is not overly large and yet there is something for everyone.

Das Essen ist gut bürgerlich. Preisleistung top. Die Ambiente urig und das Personal freundlich und zuvorkommend.

Wir sind in der Regel ein bis zweimal im Jahr beim Christoph. Aber er schaft es immer wieder, auf kleinem Raum [Küche], großes zu schaffen. Vielen Dank Christoph, dafür und seinem spitzen Team.

Super, Nach einem harten Arbeitstag ins Dornröschen. Super netter Empfang, erstklassiger Service und ein leckeres Essen. Sehr empfehlenswert und volle Punktzahl. Wie schon Arnold Schwarzenegger sagte, ill be back Versprochen...

Eigentlich traut man sich nicht, noch eine positive Bewertung zu schreiben, weil man Angst haben muss, dass es dann keine Sitzplätze mehr gibt. Das gesamte Personal und auch ganz besonders der Wirt Christof ist ein Traum an Menschlichkeit, Höflichkeit und Service. Gute Laune wird auch noch zusätzlich verbreitet. Das wäre eigentlich nicht nötig, denn die Qualität und Quantität der Speisen und Getränke ist, um es mit einem Wort zu sagen, excellent und bereitet schon deswegen gute Laune. Man kann es nicht näher beschreiben, man muss es einfach erleben. Eine tolle Terrasse, Essenszubereitung bei der man hinschauen kann..... Ich will keinen Roman schreiben. Hingehen, ausprobieren und autom. zum Stammgast werden.

Ambiente und freundliche Bedienung stimmen. Für mich und unseren Freunden war die Portion zu klein. Das Fleisch war nicht kross gebraten. Sah aus wie gekocht. Teilweise hatte ich das Gefühl das mehrere Produkte fertig Gerichte waren.

Hier ist es immer gut. Der Service und die Atmosphäre ist sehr herzlich. Egal ob Schnitzel oder Buffet zur Weihnachtsfeier die gutbürgerliche Küche schmeckt immer!
