Chinarestaurant Zhang (回味轩) in Leipzig

The food was very tasty, we had hot pot, the selection of possible fish, meat and vegetables is large and drinks (including alcoholic ones) are included in the price. Unfortunately the weather wasn't suitable for hot pot, it was over 30 degrees and unfortunately you can tell that in the restaurant. We had made a reservation, which was necessary on Sunday evening. We'd love to come back.

Very tasty and authentic Chinese food, great service - highly recommended.

It's always pretty crowded and serves authentic Chinese food (Sichuan cuisine). I've been here several times and tried a few things, everything was very tasty. The menu is extensive (selection also suitable for vegetarians), and the dishes are often quite spicy. The personnel is very friendly and courteous. Ordering and picking up is also easy. Friday to Sunday you should definitely reserve a table. (Addendum March 2024: It is still very tasty and absolutely recommended!)

Favorite Chinese place in town. Absolutely delicious food.

It's okay. I don't have to choose this Chinese food. There is a self-service hot pot on Sundays, but I mainly go to eat cakes. I brought my brother to eat at An Yi.

Chinese cuisine with a difference. As a layman, I suspect more authentic dishes than the Asian restaurant around the corner. Definitely unusual and delicious (the lunch buffet).

There were two of us at the hot pot buffet and what can I say: disappointing. We first had to wait 15 minutes for the broth, which was only put on our table after we asked. The buffet was really more than disappointing. Half of the items are empty and generally a very small selection. Especially if you don't eat seafood or tofu you shouldn't go here. Very few meat options (beef to cook yourself was empty for over an hour) and in general the buffet, which you don't have to cook anymore, is just cold + way too over-seasoned. Tasty is different. So unfortunately only 1/5 stars.

We went to the hotpot buffet...the staff was unfriendly, the food wasn't labeled, the things on the buffet were cold and what could go into the hotpot was only a very small selection of food. The restaurant is also not particularly nice and is very narrow, and the hotpots make it feel like 35 degrees inside. I wouldn't go there again for the price.

Super coooooooooool gut It's super delicious. I had stir-fried intestines and it's 22 euros and the portion is a lot. It sucks. They also give you unlimited rice. I highly recommend it. If four people come and order three dishes and eat it, it's the best value for money. It's nice that they give you a glass of Kaoliang liquor. Ugh~~~~~~~ I'll have to go again. Next time, I'll eat Dongpo Pork. Haha, oh yeah. It's authentic Sichuan cuisine. A place that people who know something go to. Yuno? Yunho😼😼😼😼😼

Authentic Chinese food. Eat there more often.

It was our first time at Zhang and we wanted to try out the HotPot. Our seating was a bit awkward as we sat right next to the toilet and someone passed by every few minutes. The choice of food was very sufficient and tasty. Unfortunately, some things were missing labels because they really didn't recognize what they were supposed to be (including sauces/meat). That would have been much easier then. Due to the heat in the restaurant, we couldn't stay longer than 1 hour as the heat at the HotPot was really difficult. But the staff was very friendly. We found it a bit too expensive in terms of price, but it was a buffet, so it was still ok.

My wife didn't feel like cooking on Sunday and we were here more or less by chance for the Sunday buffet. What can I say, starting from the friendly welcome, to the clean table, to a rich appetizer buffet to the extremely tasty "HotPot" it was great. I'll come back and bring all my friends with me. Hygiene concept is being implemented... Priced also within...

We were there as a group for the hot pot buffet and were all happy with the food. Everything was fresh and sometimes other things and the whole thing lasted over two hours. The only note is one more waiter to ensure service. It is best to reserve in advance to get a place.

Very large salt and pepper shrimp in good quantities. Waitress a little cold but friendly if you dig a little deeper into the conversation.

The taste of Chinese food is probably very close to “real” Chinese food.

There were four of us and we were full of expectations based on the reviews. Intrigued by advertising about the buffet with HotPot, we made a reservation. It was very crowded and the seating was very cramped. There were various house limos. The one that looked like lemon tasted quite good, the others not so much. The quality of the food was not good and none of us liked it. The HotPot came to the table, the fondue sauces were tasteless, one of them was spicy. They were later extended with water. The scampi was ok. There was nothing labeled at the buffet and when I asked what was what, there was no answer. Not again and too expensive for the price (including soft drinks and beer).

You can have wonderful Chinese food here. I really like it and enjoy it every time.

It's a little slow, but it replicates the mainland food.

In the shrimp I found the innards, The buffet, a mystery, not labeled, is infuriating. The service was slow, almost made me sick The salad was unwashed, a mistake to thank. Bad German, unclean restaurant, Tightness and noise, a real hardship. Unfriendly staff, poor quality, Not recommended, the conclusion is certain. A place full of grievances, that's clear Going here was no revelation, truly. The assessment is difficult in these lines, I'll never visit this restaurant again!

We went to Zhang for hotpot food. Due to the large crowds, the restaurant seemed very cramped. The boiling pots would also make it very warm very quickly. The selection of fresh fish/seafood was pleasing, and the starters/side dishes didn't disappoint either. But a label would definitely be helpful. Especially with the starters, it was often impossible to tell whether it was a vegetarian or a meat dish. A huge plus point is that soft drinks and beer are available at the buffet price. Unfortunately, one had the impression that the service staff did not always understand the orders. But overall a nice experience. We'd love to come back.

The food is different from what you usually could have in terms of Chinese food in Europe, I could say that it is authentic (but I have never been to China). The taste is good although it has not so common ingredients, For example, beef belly, heart etc. But you also can find dishes that are more "normal" and the taste is really good. The service is quite slow, and a bit confusing since most waiters don't speak English or German. But they are quite helpful and friendly, you just need to be Patience.

The two of us were at the hotpot buffet on Sunday. The food was great and it was a really nice change from the “normal” restaurant visit.

The best Chinese food I've had in Germany When I lived nearby, I went every Saturday and Sunday, and now that I live far away, I visit Leipzig just to eat this. Daechang fish red stew, stir-fried pork belly with red pepper, stir-fried Gongsimchae, and cucumber and garlic salad are all tops that cannot be compared to other places.

You can get really authentic Chinese food here at acceptable prices - comparable to other restaurants in Leipzig. The portions are huge and really tasty :) The lunch special is also recommended!

The food was tasty, though clearly modified to suit a Western palate, with more sugar and far less spice than I experienced while in Shichuan. Lunch is offered strictly as cafeteria style, with the freedoms to select five dishes from a pre-cooked group of about ten items. Rice comes with it, all for €8.50. There’s no arguing with the price as quantity is substantial but it’s unfortunate that you can’t order freshly cooked food at lunchtime.

We went to the HotPot on Sunday and had a reservation for 8 p.m. Communication with the employees was quite difficult. Neither English nor German, everything was done on a show of hands Or individual words. But that doesn't necessarily bother you. Unfortunately, the buffet was very limited right from the start. After 30 minutes, i.e. 8:30 p.m., the first one was over. We waited in vain for it to be refilled. If asked, there would be no shrimp, but some squid was provided. The selection was manageable and gradually became less. By 9:15 p.m. we didn't even have much of an option for the cold desserts. We still got full, but we got the second star, but we also had to give up a lot. Looking back, I'm very upset that I ended up paying full price. We generally liked the HotPod concept, but despite the very high price it felt like we were in a very cheap AllYouCanEat. Gladly again, but not here.

Spontaneous stop, but got a table even without a reservation. Authentic food, I had never heard of these little bowls before. Rich menu with affordable prices. Very friendly and warm service. I found it a bit of a shame that something was brought to us that we hadn't ordered and thought that this was a gift from the house. If it wasn't, we had to pay for it. I found it outrageous.

The food was delicious. I wish the vegan/ vegetarian options were clearly marked and there were more options. Still it was a very nice food.

We visited the restaurant on a Monday evening. Almost all tables were occupied and the service was unfortunately completely overwhelmed. It took 20 minutes from the time we were seated until a service person first appeared. During this time, our neighboring table had already received drinks and appetizers and the guests arrived after us. Unfortunately, there was complete chaos when it came to serving. There were three of us and the starters and main courses were completely mixed up, so one had to start with his main course, the second had his starter completely missing, the third got the normal order. This permanently diminished our impression of the restaurant, because the food was actually very good.

Very tasty, authentic, can only be recommended. Reservations should be made for larger groups. However, a bit uncomfortable as there is only one large room.

The little trip to China, authentic cuisine and different dishes, absolutely courteous service. Traditional family business. It's been a long time since I've eaten so well, it's a must if you want to try something new and escape from everyday life. A large menu and original imported drinks round off the visit. Inconspicuous from the outside, a culinary journey from the inside, simply great.

The food was delicious, but the service was very disappointing. It was extremely crowded and we had a very uncomfortable seat right in front of the door (despite reservations). After the order was placed, we waited for about an hour until the waitress came and told us that the dish I ordered was sold out. Why this only happened after 1 hour is questionable. We got a starter and a dessert on the house, but there was still a bitter aftertaste. The toilets were dirty and the table was sticky. We probably won't come again.

The food was truly the most traditional food I have eaten in Leipzig. Very spectacular card. There's nothing they can do about it that I didn't like it that much. There are 2 points deducted for the sticky table and the unclean toilet 🤷‍♂️

I have lived for 8 years in China and I've been missing it since I've left 2 years ago. This place was an absolutely lovely reminder of my time there. The food is delicious and authentic - almost exactly like I've eaten in China. Absolutely delicious, very decent vegetarian selection. It made me remember the place I've called home for so long, in the best of ways. And it made me so happy for this new year. Happy new year of the dragon 🐉

Mein absolutes Lieblings Restaurant. Sehr authentisches, chinesisches Essen. Obwohl die chinesische Küche sehr Fleisch lastig ist, kann ich als Vegetarierin, ebenfalls einige Köstlichkeiten entdecken.

川菜味道为主的餐厅，附近有很多中国人都会来吃，烤鱼草味比较重介意的慎点，肉末茄子和汤羹非常不错，米饭也很可口。 菜单还有火锅，但是这一次没点，也是满受欢迎的。

Von außen eher unscheinbar, die Gerichte sind mit viel Herzblut und auf traditionelle Art und Weise zubereitet. Ich war überrascht und bin sehr angetan von diesem Restaurant - macht so weiter. Im Service könnt ihr etwas aufmerksamer sein. Die Küche überzeugt voll und ganz, behaltet das Niveau bei, das zeichnet euch aus ☺️👌.

Bin Asiatin, In Leipzig gibt es für mich nur zwei asiatische Restaurants wo ich mit sicherlichem Gefühl hin würde, hier ist eins davon.

Authentisches chinesisches Essen mit so wie man es in China bekommen könnte. Die Speisekarte ist umfangreich und die Gerichte, die wir bestellt hatten haben alle sehr gut geschmeckt. Die Bedienung war sehr freundlich. Wenn man nach 18 Uhr kommt sollte man lieber reservieren.

Echt chinesisch! Auch das Essen ist wirklich chinesisch und gut. Viele Gruppen und Familien essen dort gemeinsam, was auch gut geht.

Їжа смачна, автентична. В ресторані багато китайців, що вказує на те, що їжа насправді смачна. Порції великі, я рекомендую приходити великою компанією, щоб скуштувати якомога більше. Замовляєте страви з меню, рис вже входить в комплект. Персонал привітний,в ресторані є запах кухні, тому після вечері залишився запах на одязі. Рекомендую відвідати

we’re definitely lacking good restaurants in leipzig and this was the best i’ve been to so far - regarding the dishes. it was super delicious and and each dish had something special about it. i already recommended it to a bunch of people. :)

Sehr gute authetische Szechuan-Gerichte bei moderaten Preisen. Am Abend war das Restaurant sehr voll.

As a native Chinese person I can say that the 7.5€ menu wasn't good at all. Maybe it's because of my Zhejiang's (province of China) palate but for me the food was salzig and greazy and not healthy at all.

Ein einfaches Restaurant aber eine sensationelle Küche. Wir sind zum wiederholten Mal hier und es blieben keine Wünsche offen. Sehr gute originale chinesische Küche. Personal sehr freundlich und das Preis/ Leistungs Verhältnis top! Sehr gern wieder!!

Wir kommen nun regelmäßig. Das Essen ist typisch chinesisch und einfach nur Klasse. Genau SO will und sollte man chinesisch essen. Vielen lieben Dank!

Authentisches chinesisches Essen. Wan Tan Waren sehr lecker. Schnelle Bedingungen mit großen Portionen, das Ambiente ist angenehm. Bekamen sogar die Essstäbchen auf Nachfrage geschenkt.

Wir hatten uns auf einen tollen Abend mit verschiedenen Köstlichkeiten gefreut. Leider stimmte für uns gar nichts. Das Buffet war bei der Lokalöffnung noch gar nicht fertig bestückt, die Bedienung wirkte sehr zerstreut und es konnte uns auch keiner die Besonderheiten des Buffets erklären. Ein ganz großes No Go ist für mich die fehlende Beschilderung am Buffet, so wussten wir überhaupt nicht was wir essen, ist es scharf oder nicht und vertragen oder mögen wir das überhaupt. So blieb uns nichts anderes übrig, als durch die Speisen zu irren und vieles nach einem Happen liegen zu lassen. Das Frischbuffet bestand nur aus Fisch und Meeresfrüchten, es gab nicht ein Stück Fleisch. Was ebenfalls sehr unangenehm war, ist die Tatsache das wir den ganzen Abend hindurch vor unseren schmutzigen Tellern saßen. Die Bedienung war überfordert und sehr unaufmerksam. Wir werden dieses Restaurant nicht wieder besuchen.

Wie es Titel schon sagt: hier ist das Essen wirklich chinesisch und für uns auch das beste China Restaurant in Leipzig. Auch das Mittagsbuffet (wenn nicht gerade Corona herrscht) ist immer sehr gut und reichhaltig. Eine ganz klare Empfehlung
