Cuisine: Chinese Buffet Date of Visit: December 17, 2024 Buffets can be a mixed bag, but this one leans heavily toward the “avoid at all costs” side of things. While variety is the selling point of most buffets, the quality here leaves much to be desired. A lack of actually fresh ingredients and questionable handling of seafood make for a regrettable dining experience. ATMOSPHERE The space is large and well-lit, the noise level is high, making it hard to enjoy your meal. The décor is dated and feels more like a cafeteria than a restaurant. There’s a few decorations that evokes Chinese culture and tries to give the place a little charm. Idk if there’s an elevator but I didn’t see any. Could be a deal breaker for ppl with special needs. FOOD • APPETIZERS & SIDES: There’s a few things to rate here but most of it is “meh” 3/5 at best • MAIN COURSES: Salmon The salmon was the worst offender. It was evident this fish had been defrosted multiple times, resulting in a mushy, watery texture and an off-putting flavor. Calling it “the worst salmon of my entire life” might be true. This dish alone made me lose my appetite. And don’t even ask about sushi or rolls (Rating: 0.5/5) Meat Honestly, I had worst or maybe same level so I wasn’t surprised. Chewy and old, not tasty at all. (0.5/5) Sweet and Sour Chicken The sweet and sour chicken was edible, but that’s about the best thing I can say. Probably the best thing I kinda liked. (Rating: 3.5/5) Stir-Fried Noodles These were passable but unremarkable. (Rating: 3.5/5) SERVICE Service was there, as is typical for a buffet. Staff refilled the trays sporadically. Plates were cleared promptly. Though there were smiles it felt really cold. They do their best I guess. CONCLUSION This buffet fails on the most basic fronts: freshness, quality, taste and pricing. It’s not worth the disappointment. The salmon alone was a dealbreaker, and many other dishes felt like they’d been reheated or left out for far too long. Definitely not worth travelling 30min there so I won’t be returning. Again, it’s just my experience at that time. So don’t judge too harshly because some ppl like it. As for me,… I’ll look elsewhere. Overall Rating: 2/5

It's super bad. Pay attention to the waiters. Guests can't offend them because it's hard for the boss to find workers. If you don't eat hot pot, you can't take the vegetables in the window. Although there are no obvious signs, the waiter will stop you. Very pricey for what you get, many things are missing such as peppers or satay sticks and the like. Products are absolutely not fresh for €15, a great deal. Absurdly expensive for €25.90!

Delicious and tasty chinese food! This is one of my favorite buffet resto. They also offer chicken feet which was deboned, pig feet, scallops, fish, shrimps and of course lobster. If you ate craving for sea foods, this resto it worth for you to try. Ithink they just limit their refill of lobster because of course it is expensive so better to check the buffet table if they already refill it. Price is cheaper compared to other Buffet resto. Ambience is ok. Maybe they should also add more songs to their playlist. We just heared coldplay playing all over again the whole 1 and a hour we have been there. Lol

A great Chinese restaurant here with a delicious lunch buffet and dinner buffet. The buffet leaves nothing to be desired, and you can also have food grilled that you put together yourself. Hands off the peanuts, unfortunately we oversalted our food on the grill. The sauces for grilling are already salty. Enjoy your meal here, the service is very friendly and the toilets are clean.

I've visited China Star many times - I've had lunch there and ordered a buffet + paid 22 euros for a drink! I am convinced of the price-performance and am thrilled with everything from duck to shrimp and sushi, there is something for everyone! I would love to come back and can recommend it.

A very big Chinese buffet restaurant. You get exactly what it tells you it is. Various Chinese dishes served buffet style and you can go get what you like. Fresh seafood is cooked on request. I enjoyed it. It's not gourmet and that's ok as I didn't expect it to be. Just straight forward Chinese food and it is cooked well. The prawns were especially good

Unfortunately, our expectations were different from those created by the website. We arrived at 9:30 PM and expected that we would still be able to enjoy the full buffet. But unfortunately we were hit with the last scraps left and the employees were already clearing the buffet. We thought this was a shame, because on the website s It was indicated that the restaurant would be open until 11:00 PM. We got the feeling that we had to rush and could not have a quiet dinner. Too bad, we didn't expect this... The nice thing was that we had received a €15.90 discount. Because a normal evening buffet will cost €25.90. So we ended up paying €10 per person for the buffet, which was very nice for leftovers and no desert.

One thing in advance: tastes are different and just because I felt that way doesn't mean that the food was completely bad. The service was great, really nice and personable. Unfortunately, the food wasn't my thing at all, there were a few things that I personally couldn't eat. But, as I have already written, that is my personal taste. The selection of dishes was good but the execution was not so good. For example, I absolutely didn't understand sushi with scallion cheese (?) on top. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I went out to eat with high expectations and was disappointed. Shortly after eating I also started to have stomach pains and later gastrointestinal problems. Maybe that was just a coincidence, but it wasn't that great.

We have been to this restaurant many times, but the last experience was subpar. Unfriendly staff, despite the buffet we had to wait a long time until someone came to us to take our drink order. The food was over salted, especially bad that there was a metal wire in our food! But we didn't complain about it because we discovered it in good time and it was hard to find any operating staff anyway. It was outrageous that the prices did not match the website information. When asked, only unfriendly comments were made, which was probably a typo by some guest. I'm sorry, what? That's what it says on your official homepage!

There are places that really improve over the years. I have to admit that I had to improve my review here. This restaurant has now become one of my favorite restaurants and where I like to go often. To start with, just a Chinese buffet. What was now overcrowded was a varied buffet with dishes that were really Chinese and not just what German men are used to from China. We can only recommend hot pot in this shop. And I have to say that with the long sushi counter that now exists, I could be fooled.

A well-equipped buffet, especially with freshly fried meat and especially fish. Sushi is ok, there is salmon sashimi and a few normal rolls. Overall, rather meat-heavy. The atmosphere is a bit too bright - I would hold a date somewhere else ;) You definitely get enough for the money to fill you up several times and the staff is extremely friendly. Since we were the last ones, we could also see that everything was meticulously cleaned here. If a dish had been empty, they would have even delivered more (especially for one person!). I would test the hot pot here next time, preferably with at least 4 people.

The price regulations are unclear, you always pay more than expected, no Chinese waiters, no discounts for schoolchildren or students.

They now have a steak area that is freshly cooked. I always eat perfectly here and as much as I want. It always tastes delicious! The staff and the boss are very friendly ;)

The buffet is well stocked and there is a separate station for sushi. It is possible to have your own meal prepared. There are also 2 sauces to choose from, although it is more fish-focused. The prices for drinks are ok. Parking spaces are available.

The China Star in Düsseldorf offers a mixed experience. The cold counter is ok and has a good selection of fish. You drive right through Düsseldorf. Then you find out at the door that it is closed at lunchtime, even though it should be open. Everything was in vain. Never again!

I can’t count how many times I’ve eaten here. It’s super delicious. The seafood variety recently has been especially fresh and abundant! The service staff and boss are very nice ;) The quality has always been very stable. I have never had diarrhea after eating it so many times. I recommend the spicy pot and tomato pot. We came here on a Thursday night and the variety of ingredients here was super rich. All kinds of seafood, especially prawns, are super delicious, as well as stir-fried sushi and sashimi, and finally the fruits are also delicious. I have questions on the taste of fellow people who they give high rates to this restaurant, provided they tasted the same as me. On the first look, everything was soaked in oil, so I was reluctant to try some dishes. And then, when I saw their "grill" space...God! Two big oil pots where they were frying everything and a hot plate where they were "grilling", again with a ton of oil. After one plate of despicable "grilled" meat, I sticked to the sushi to justify the 26 euros I paid, with the hope that I don't get food poisoning, which thankfully I didn't. The fruit corner had the smell of over ripped, old cut fruit. Even the space was bad ventilated and had this "moldy" odor on the room that most customers were sitting. I can understand that "all you can eat" may seem appealing, but at this restaurant you cannot eat a lot because of the huge amount of oil and the low quality. For 30 euros per person, you may for sure go to a place that you will feel respected.

The range has become smaller, but the quality is even slightly better than before. Everything tasted good and fresh, the buffet was constantly replenished - our group was full and satisfied :) The facility is more modern than before. All in all a successful visit.

Found this restaurant by chance yesterday and were very happy with our choice! We decided on the buffet, although there were also other alternatives. There was a diverse selection of food. From noodles, rice, meat to sushi. Most of it tasted very good too. Especially great for people who want to try something different and are keen to experiment when it comes to food. The restaurant itself was also impressive. If we are in Düsseldorf again, we will definitely come by again!

Wir waren hier mit unserer Familie Geburtstag feiern. Es war Sonntag Mittag 15 Uhr, um 17.30 sollten wir Restaurant verlassen, der Chef hat uns darum gebetet, weil es ein Abendbuffet sein sollte. Am Sonntag gibt es ein Preis ob es Mittag oder Abend gibt und sie sind durchgehend geöffnet. Ich finde es ist nicht in Ordnung. Werktags gibt es mittagsbuffet, kostet weniger und es gibt begrenzte Zeit zum Essen. Und außerdem bei Reservierung wurde darüber nichts gesagt, dass es nur 2,5 Stunden zum feiern gibt. Nie wieder hier etwas feiern und überhaupt etwas essen. Obwohl essen war ok
