Böser Chinese Flingern in Düsseldorf

My wife and I wanted to go out for a nice dinner with a couple of friends on New Year's Eve. We thought we'd try your restaurant. I made a confirmed reservation via the online form. My reservation was confirmed on October 21st. Now, almost a month later, on November 12th, we received a cancellation. We had a reservation for New Year's Eve. Now it will be quite difficult for us to find an alternative. Unless the management provides a very good reason for this cancellation, I will never consider visiting this restaurant again. Unfortunately, I can't say much about the service, food, or atmosphere. Therefore, I have no comment on those aspects.

I've been to several "Bad Chinese" restaurants in Düsseldorf, but the one in Flingern Nord is definitely the best! The location is very central, just a few minutes from the city center, and there's also parking nearby, which is very convenient. The dishes are always freshly prepared, with lots of fresh vegetables and excellent flavor. I've tried many different dishes, but my absolute favorite is the Crispy Chicken Hot Plate with Rice – honestly, the best Chinese dish I've ever eaten! The ice cream sundae for dessert is also delicious, creamy, and surprisingly large – a perfect ending to a great meal. The staff is very friendly, attentive, and always ready to help, which makes the experience even more enjoyable. I come here regularly with friends, and everyone is always thrilled – both with the taste and the quality of the food. The portions are generous, and the value for money is truly excellent. A real highlight for lovers of authentic Chinese cuisine – highly recommended!

Was looking forward to trying this restaurant for some time and my daughter and I found ourselves in the neighborhood so I thought we'd finally give it a try. Despite a completely empty restaurant, the two people at the front seemed shocked to see customers and were extremely bothered by my request for a table for two. They said that they would be full from reservations so we would have to leave at a certain time. This was 1.5 hours from the time we arrived, but it was still met with absolute annoyance. The old man reluctantly took us to our seats and I was trying to stay friendly and polite despite the attitude I was receiving, but when we were seated I thanked him and he completely ignored me and huffed off back to the front. That was enough for me.

A restaurant in Flingern. The location could be a bit more upscale, as it presents itself as a high-class establishment. Unfortunately, there are a lot of drug addicts in the area, but otherwise it's okay. I liked the interior of the restaurant and the food, as well as the service. The service was excellent, but the food took a little long to arrive and there were some mistakes, but they weren't too serious. The prices are okay, completely reasonable for what you get.

Super-large portions, and the crispy chicken was delicious (Shanghai Dynasty). You can choose whether you'd prefer rice or noodles, and the noodles were really good. I highly recommend this restaurant 🌺 Just make sure you don't have a car, as parking is a bit difficult here.

Disastrous. After going out to dinner with my boyfriend, I had already finished my meal by the time my friend got his. Unfriendly, and after we were promised a discount, this was completely forgotten.

I wouldn’t eat here again even if they paid me. One of the staff members was not just rude but aggressively confrontational toward my friend, creating a deeply uncomfortable and unacceptable experience. Hospitality should start with basic respect sadly, that was nowhere to be found here.

We've been here several times, and the food is always very good. The ambiance is upscale. When it's busy, it can be a bit noisy and the service is slower. The appetizers are a bit expensive considering they're really small. We're always happy to come back.

Our meal was great; the duck is definitely recommended. Many dishes are served in a bowl or bowl-shaped bowl, which I found a bit awkward to eat (at least my dish), but I'm sure we can take note of that on our next visit and order our food on a regular plate. We didn't enjoy visiting the restaurant for various reasons. We didn't like the food. The starters had been standing too long and were just lukewarm. The marinated chicken didn't taste good and had a strange consistency. The rooms themselves are nice, but there is no trace of ambience. It's far too loud to spend a comfortable evening here. There is no acoustic insulation in the room. You should also position the tables for two so that as a couple you don't sit on the long side. The distance and the high volume make it impossible to have a conversation. The employees obviously have too much to do and are running around in a hurry, you almost feel sorry for them. There also seems to be a strict regime in the store. How should employees feel comfortable in order to make guests feel welcome? This is probably why they are so non-committal, sometimes almost unfriendly and uninterested in the customer.

Visited here today and it was absolutely fantastic. The service was friendly, the food came quickly and it was incredibly tasty. Everything was fresh and the portions were very large. Definitely coming back!

It was our first time there, my mother had been there several times, very nice atmosphere and great food. But.... the owner or manager of this branch is impossible. I came in and immediately thought that's where the name of the restaurant came from.... then another waitress (the smaller one, could be her daughter because of her arrogance and unfriendly nature) was also totally unfriendly. The taller waitress was super nice and had great service. Unfortunately, the counter was completely cleaned up so that everyone noticed. That's not possible and my mother noticed it again and again... .... anyone who treats employees like that is a reason not to go to the restaurant again... .. the poor employee, only she was nice and friendly and capable

Their hot plates are the standout: served sizzling hot in a flavorful sauce, with crunchy vegetables and a protein or choice. You can choose between rice or handmade noodles, and I highly recommend the noodles! They have a perfect chew and absorb the sauce beautifully. Dishes are priced around €20, but the portions are huge, making it well worth the price. Even their single scoop of ice cream feels more like three! The service is polite and efficient, the drinks are well-made, and the overall atmosphere is warm and cozy. Highly recommended!

We were there last night and the food was ok, unfortunately the service wasn't great right from the start, no requests, no questions about whether everything was OK, etc., but we wouldn't have complained about that either... Shortly after 10 p.m. we asked if we could still order desserts, the answer was, only ice cream, the kitchen had already been cleaned and nothing else was available, also ok. When my friend paid (by card) when we were invited, she didn't have enough cash... and neither did we, so we ended up with a tip of around €6... This was taken without a thank you, but we did get a bitter look. When leaving the restaurant, my friend went to the counter and asked the waitress if something was wrong or what the look meant and whether it was because of the amount of the tip? Answer, yes, they ultimately have to share it with others…. I'm really at a loss for words... Everyone decides about their wallet and their actions... and how they reward something... Nothing like that has ever happened to me in over 30 years of visiting restaurants!

I don't usually judge anyone, but what we experienced yesterday in this restaurant is something I've never experienced in all my years. I invited my friends over for dinner and I have nothing to complain about the food, it was good. When we paid, we left a tip, there was no thank you but actually a look from the waitress that was so derogatory and nasty. When leaving the shop I just had to ask why she behaved like that towards us, her answer that wouldn't have been enough, I would have had to leave at least 20 of your tips 😳. Sorry, I think that we consumed quite a bit and everyone is allowed to decide how they give their money away or do I decide on their prices in your store? It's incredibly disrespectful, I come from the industry myself and I thank you even for a 10 cent tip because it's not a given. Then, before someone comes to eat with you, you should perhaps note on your website that you insist on a minimum tip of 10 percent of the consumption

Food very tasty, service very friendly

I was here for the first time on a recommendation. The food was very tasty. The service was quick and very accommodating. The homemade lemonades are also highly recommended. For the main course I had the salmon steak with homemade udon noodles. For dessert we had the baked bananas with ice cream. I have never tasted such delicious baked bananas. Unfortunately, the restaurant is very noisy when it is busy, but the food is impressive. We'd love to come back.

The ambience is really nice here. But the tables are too close to each other, making it difficult to have a conversation when the restaurant is full. We ordered hot plates. The food was fresh but very greasy and with too much salty sauce. The staff was really totally unfriendly. We booked for 2.5 hours. After 1.5 hours we were thrown out and couldn't order a drink anymore!!! That doesn't work at all. Manager wasn't interested in asking what is the name and for how long did we book. There seems to be a policy there to collect as much as possible... What a shame!

We have been regular customers for years, even on Platanenstrasse. But it was unbelievable what happened to me last Friday afternoon on January 3rd. happened to a male, gaunt waiter. My friend was served the dish she ordered, but unfortunately I was served the wrong one (tofu/vegetables with rice instead of noodles as ordered). I kindly asked for the correct dish to be brought to me. Then the waiter takes my plate with a grumpy expression and instead of the word "sorry" just says the word "mixup" and brings the bowl 3 meters away to a neighboring table, where a guest is obviously eating my dish. He swaps the plates and gives me what I've eaten!!! A dish that is already missing some of the vegetables and tofu. INCREDIBLE!! We couldn't believe our eyes! Where is the hidden camera please???? You're not serious, "Evil Chinese"? I say I don't eat that. So he takes the bowl with him to the kitchen and seconds later brings me back the same now lukewarm bowl filled with a few raw cold pepper pieces as a replacement for the vegetables eaten by the neighboring guest. Pooh! What do you think of treating guests like that? We are horrified!!!

Service very bad and inattentive. The blonde lady was more concerned with her personal matters than with service. When I came in I was asked “how can I help you?” Menu very confusing, no recommendation could be made. The food was good, but the vegetables were cut too large for my taste. The homemade noodles tasted good, but were cold.

(I'm gonna write in English so everyone understands) food was amazing, we had a dish with shrimps and one with beef absolutely delicious!! the service tho was horrible, my friend and I were so disappointed by the way the waitress behaved. When I called to make a reservation the woman on the phone was very hostile and cold, giving me attitude because she couldn't understand my name. Once we were done with our food and wanted to pay by card she took my card from my hand rather harshly because she was annoyed the machine wasn't working properly. just in general very weird vibe from the people working there but food was tasty.

The restaurant is nicely decorated. But I personally was less impressed by the food. I think there are more interesting Asian options nearby. We were there on a rather quiet Saturday afternoon. It seemed as if the waiters were still sorting themselves out. The service was friendly but not particularly attentive.

My personal favorites: - Governor from Szechuan - Frie duck with duck sauce - hot plate of beef All with rice as the side. The food and atmosphere are excellent! The prices are great for the value (delicious Chinese, and very filling too). The service is also good, but as an English speaker, I struggled to place my orders lol. It's such an international location and I was hoping for at least, an English-speaking person. Personally, a 4.6 rating over 5. Just because of the lack of English-speaking attendants. But if the language is no issue for you, a heavy 5 ⭐ for this wonderful place!

When I said that my food was only lukewarm, the waiter replied that you couldn't stir the ingredients together while they were hot! Noodles with vegetables and pork. In my opinion, it wasn't a great taste either. It's a shame - nice shop, cozy atmosphere, but food: nothing great.

We were here in the evening on June 17, 2024 and had a wonderful time sitting outside. I chose the Shanghai Dynasty: crispy chicken with sweet potatoes, seasonal vegetables and red coconut curry sauce (19.50 euros). A very good decision, I really enjoyed the dish. You could also use rice or homemade udon noodles. Even though rice would have been better here, I really wanted to try the noodles and was not disappointed. Service was also really friendly - I would love to come back very soon.

I ordered the "Verbotene Stadt" (with noodles) Pros: - Generous amount of chicken fillet. - Good and fair portion size. Cons: - Excessive amount of oil in the dish (see picture), also experienced by two of my friends. - Very unfriendly staff on the phone. They didn't let me finish my order, and there was no greeting or farewell. - Called twice to confirm if takeout was available, received the same unfriendly service both times. I can't fully comment on the restaurant's atmosphere as I only picked up the order, but it seemed tidy and not very noisy, possibly because it wasn't crowded. Overall, improvements are needed in both the food quality and customer service.

In the meantime, however, a different sauce is used, which initially creates a feeling of absolute fullness and dominates the taste, and unfortunately is also used as standard in other bowl dishes such as tofu with vegetables, so that the taste of the dishes hardly differs. It would be nice if the kitchen cooked like it used to again 🙏 A big plus is still the good, friendly service and the fact that you can sit outside and eat, especially in summer.
