China-Restaurant Shanghai in München

My family and I were there 2 weeks ago and although it had some reviews complaining about the service or late servings, our experience was totally opposite. Fantastic food (speacilly the Sweet-Sou chicken), good drinks and fantastic service. The food must have taken no more than 15 minutes to be ready and every dish was delicious. The waitress gave a us a great service, too.

Whenever we're in Munich, this restaurant is a must. The food is excellent. We were never disappointed, both at lunch and in the evening. The service and ambiance are perfect, and we're already looking forward to our next visit.

The price/performance ratio was right. The food was good and tasty.

The restaurant is very clean and the service is friendly. We opted for the fried noodles with chicken, but they were very oily and had almost no vegetables. In terms of taste, they were the worst I've ever eaten. Perhaps other dishes there are better.

We were there twice and hoped to change our opinion about the restaurant, but alas... Soup...A small plate, like a teacup. Just something hot... I really wanted fish. We ordered it in sweet and sour sauce n 10. They brought it in batter, it seemed that if only the batter, unfortunately, was not salty either((((. It was a complete disappointment. Of everything we ordered, the most delicious was mango juice and that's it!!!

The best chinese food in Munich. Almost any dish is authentic and delicious. The service is fast and efficient, the portion is large and the price is a bit high but still acceptable. Recommended!

Maybe the tour guide had explained that less oil and less salt were needed. Anyway, every dish was very authentic and delicious. The group members wanted to finish every dish. The shy hospitality made me feel like I was back home.

We read some reviews saying the food here is a bit greasy, but everyone in our group really enjoyed it! Maybe it’s because we asked the staff in advance to make it less salty and less oily. It tasted just as delicious as the food we have back home in Taiwan.

The food was greasy, and there wasn't much choice or variety. The menu provided too little information about the individual dishes.

We opted for fried noodles, one with shrimp and one with chicken. The portions looked small, but we were wrong. They were delicious and filling. The guava juice was also delicious. The ambiance is very nice.

This restaurant serves delicious beef with onions. The taste of pure onions with soft, juicy meat is a real treat for the palate. I miss beef with onions, which I can't find on the menu at any other restaurant. This restaurant has been there for about 40 years. The restaurant may be a bit old, but it still looks good. What bothers me most about the restaurant is the old window that radiates a lot of cold air. The owner can't do anything about it; unfortunately, the hot food gets cold quickly, despite the food warmer. Otherwise, I love the view through the window.

We offer a service that reduces the serving size of 5 to 3 servings. They told me to wait for more food, but they didn't bring it for 15 minutes. The food taste is not bad. People like the boss don't even care. If you're going to feel bad, stop by.

Located in a convenient location with spacious seating. Great service and authentic food. AC is a big plus for comfortability in hot summer days. Highly recommend!

The food was not fresh and really oily. Not the best i had.

Overall, unfortunately not a good experience. The food smelled strange and tasted the same. In addition, the first dish arrived cold, which is why we got a new one, but we didn't eat it either. The service was not very understanding, unfriendly and we felt like we were being handled.

Came here for early dinner and lunch. We ordered simple Chinese food (fried noodles, fried rice, and sour chicken soup), and it was amazing. It tasted very authentic (I went to China before, so I have a legit comparison). The ambiance was also very nice. Friendly and attentive staff. It is very recommended if you wish to try authentic Chinese dishes in Munich 👌

Taste okay, very greasy. Bad service, hardly any knowledge of German. The service staff always drives around with a cart and clears away the dishes. It rattles a lot and is loud. A bit old. Wouldn't go there again for a nice meal.

We had the lunch menu, which tasted good. Unfortunately, it was cold after a few minutes, despite the warm plate. The atmosphere was okay; the restaurant was busy at lunch. Friendly, fast service. Note for people with limited mobility: There is an elevator, and the restaurant is on the first floor.

We had pork ears, Chinese style pork belly and SP2 (a mixed meat dish) - The pork ears were tasty but not for someone who doesn't like the gristle texture - The pork belly was delicious. We took some of it home with us and it tasted very good - The mixed meat and rice plate was delicious! Good booze, beef tender, duck was great! The ambience is also nice, I really like the furnishings The service was quick and nice. Come back 😊

Centrally located Chinese restaurant on Stachus. Attention, only open until 9 p.m.!

It's a very authentic Chinese restaurant. The decoration is quite nostalgic. Every dish tastes good and the portions are large. If two people are eating, you can't order too much or you won't be able to finish it. I ordered a stir-fried vegetable and a stir-fried tofu with minced meat. It was amazing. I got a big plate of white rice, and also ordered a shredded pork noodles with pickled vegetables, a super big bowl. If you miss authentic Chinese food, it’s definitely a good place to eat here👍🏻, and it just snowed❄️❄️❄️

I have found a new local bar and meet up with my circle of friends there once a week. The food is delicious, the seating is extremely comfortable (I love the huge window front with a view of Sonnenstrasse and the Stachus. Plus the tasteful ambience, the extremely friendly staff and the central location! The prices of the lunch menu are also remarkable at under €10!

I'm very divided, here's a little overview: + super nice atmosphere, great location + warm staff + good prices + lots of choice - Food tasteless and dry (unfortunately, by far the biggest drawback) - Hardly any vegetarian selection, sometimes the hard work is simply taken out and leftovers remain It's best to take a picture yourself, you can eat there, but I wouldn't really recommend it.

Wir waren mit einem Gutschein aus dem Schlemmerblock vor Ort. An diesem Abend war es wegen einer Messe sehr voll und daher die Wartezeit etwas länger. Die Service-Dame wirkte gestresst und etwas überfordert. Unsere beiden Essen kamen zeitlich sehr versetzt. Der Gutschein kann nur auf Hauptgerichte, nicht auf Menüs angerechnet werden. Die Getränkepreise liegen im Münchner Mittel. Die Ente mit Gemüse war exzellent. Die Soße von Hähnchen Süß-Sauer war etwas dünn und hätte mehr Gemüseeinlage vertragen können. Das Nachbestellen von Reis war aufgrund des hohen Andrangs schwierig. Wir werden wiederkommen, jedoch verstärkt auf die Auslastung achten.

The food was mediocre and snack quality. The service is bad and you had to wait too long for the food even though the restaurant wasn't busy at that time. A meal was served 10 minutes earlier so that you couldn't eat at the same time. Of course there was no fortune cookie at the end!!!!

Classic Chinese restaurant with a large selection of dishes and freshly cooked dishes. We really enjoyed it and the lady in service was friendly and even though she was alone everything worked out great. The fried dumplings are homemade and delicately seasoned. Both main courses with lots of fresh vegetables and lots of meat. The duck was a little too fatty, it could have been baked a little crispier, but it was a generous portion and nice and spicy. The pork in black bean sauce is a specialty, the sauce is also a bit oily but tastes good. Can be recommended!

Right next to the Stachus (Karlsplatz) is the Shanghai Restaurant, on the first floor of a building. The food here is super authentic - the Mapo Tofu was world class! Again and again!

Ich kenne das Restaurant seit vielen Jahren. Aus Zeitgründen nehme ich dort selten das Abendessen, häufig jedoch das MIttagessen ein. Die Mittagsmenüs sind sehr schmackhaft, reichlich und preiswert. Passende Frühlingsrolle oder Suppe ist - wie üblich - enthalten. Die Speisekarte ist in Deutsch, Englisch und Chinesisch gehalten. In der riesigen Auswahl wird wohl jeder auch a la carte das Gewünschte finden. Das Bedienungspersonal ist schnell, umsichtig und äußerst freundlich. Dies auch dann, wenn - wie so häufig - das Restaurant ausgebucht ist. Nicht zuletzt soll die gemütliche Einrichtung im chinesischen Stil erwähnt werden. Ebenso gefällt der Ausblick (vom 1. Stock) auf das städtische Treiben am Stachus, wenn man einen Platz an einem der großen Fenster erhalten hat.

I must first give a thumbs up to the stir-fried lamb shoulder. The color, smell and taste are comparable to those of the best restaurants in the country. It is well-deserved for the many good reviews and recommendations. It’s so delicious that I can’t stop eating! Highly recommended! Dried bamboo shoots and bacon is a signature dish that has been around for a long time. The new chef also has new magic. The taste of dried bamboo shoots has changed a lot. It is crispy and tender, and the bamboo shoots are fragrant and the bacon has a long aftertaste! Highly recommended! He is indeed the new chef that the landlady has been waiting for for several years! Pure and authentic Chinese taste!

We ordered chicken with vegetables and tofu with vegetables - both were good. Old school quality, chicken had that nice seasoned, flaming wok taste. Ordered Chardonnay and gewurztraminer - both tasted a bit old. I see some reviews complaining about the prices - we didn't think it was bad, budget wise. What was not great was how hot the place was. After walking the marienplatz, it was like being in the kitchen with the chef. It's probably fine if it's cold outside, but sweating through your whole meal, indoor, isn't a great experience.

The shredded pork with Beijing sauce is really unpalatable. There is too much sweet noodle sauce, which makes it overly sweet. This dish can actually be called stir-fried pork strips with sweet noodle sauce mixed with shredded bamboo shoots. It tastes no different from the pre-made dishes sold on Taobao in China, and even contains more sugar than the pre-made dishes.

Very authentic Hunan cuisine, the service is very friendly. I went with my friends to eat the fish and mutton with chopped peppers. The meat was very tender. The pickled peppers are homemade and very delicious. Highly recommended!

I think it might be the best place to get Chinese food very close to the city center. Located on the second floor of the building, the restaurant is spacious and clean. It also has a really good atmosphere to eat in with all the traditional Chinese decorations. The service was okay. We ordered four dishes from the lunch menu which were cheaper and I think had smaller portions than the actual menu but it was still worth the price and of course only available during lunch time, it was around nine euros each plate. We ordered Beef cooked with onions, Fried fish with sweet and sour sauce, Fried duck, and Fried pork with sweet and sour sauce. We also got four free soups according to the amount of the dishes and one big bowl of rice for us to share. They were all delicious! The fish, duck, and pork were all crunchy and tasty. The beef was very tender and also tasteful. The soup was well above average. One thing that I don’t like about the restaurant is their tipping system. You are basically pushed to give a tip, for us it was on the machine you use to pay by card, there was no option to not tip on it so we basically had to choose how much we want to tip, this is never the case in other restaurants. Well it was actually not a bad experience when speaking the overall experience. I would recommend the place to you all when wanting to eat Chinese food in the middle of the city because when it comes to the food… it is actually great. I might come back to try their other dishes.

Service was fine, but.. 1. I asked specifically for normal water, but I had to pay a total of 10 Euro for just three glasses of water. I was told that they don't bring tap water and what she gave us was mineral water. Not a good experience. 2. The waitress was psychologically pushing us to give her a tip. Eventually I did give her a tip, but I didn't like that experience.

A steamed egg costs 18 euros, the menu price is unclear, and tipping is mandatory with a machine, with a minimum of 5%. Does Europe also have a tipping culture?

Nice and large restaurant at Stachus. We got a table quickly on Saturday evening. It wasn't too crowded yet. You have to wait a bit for the food, but it's not too bad. The prices are also ok for Munich. There are also some vegetarian versions. The food tasted really good. Gladly again

Authentic Chinese food, the restaurant is very clean and spacious. The service we had was top notch, the lady refilled the tea pot several times and offered us to stay for a moment to rest after finishing all food. They offer a wide range of food, pages of menu many to choose from, menu comes in English and Chinese as well.

The squirrel fish, lion's head, stir-fried vegetables with garlic paste, and pot stickers are all delicious. It is considered a high-level Chinese dish in Germany.

We had dinner in this restaurant. I am surprised to find such a nice Chinese restaurant in Munich. The food is tasty , the service is prompt and the waitress is very friendly. The restaurant is cosy and comfortable. We ordered a sweet and sour crispy fish and a vegetable dish with a desert to share . I wish we have found this restaurant sooner so we can visit a few more times before leaving Munich. We will definitely visit again when we come to Munich next time. We tried this restaurant on May 26 after our day trip to the country side. The food quality and services are better than expected. The fish and tofu were fresh and yummy. Will be back again!

It’s one of the best Chinese restaurants in Munich. The staff are so nice . The foods are tasty with reasonable prices. The location is good not really far from Karlsplatz. If I go to Munich again, I’ll go to China-Restaurant Shanghai again.
