China Restaurant Peking in Kassel

It's gotten EXTREMELY worse. I used to go there quite often, especially since I live up in Wilhelmshöhe. Five years ago, it cost €9.50. I always ordered the spicy beef curry and the spicy roasted duck, both of which were always reasonably priced. Now it costs €15 for beef and €18 for duck 😅 There was significantly less meat in the spicy beef; it was practically 50% onions. They serve very little rice, and you have to pay extra if you only want rice. The duck was BY FAR the worst thing I've eaten in the last two years (not just Chinese food in general). It's a mystery to me how they can ruin a duck so badly. Zero crispiness, and every other piece had gristle in it. I will never go there again and recommend that anyone wanting good duck go to Heinrich Heine Straße. It costs €12 there, is crispier, and tastes MUCH better.

We've been here several times for lunch. At lunchtime, they also offer discounted dishes with slightly smaller portions and a Peking soup to start. The food is usually delicious. When it's very busy, sometimes spices are missing or the cooking time is too short. But the friendly staff quickly and efficiently resolves these issues. Unfortunately, there's very little parking nearby.

The food was decent. The ambiance was 80s style. Two weeks ago, we were there for lunch, and the restaurant was freezing cold with no heating on. Other guests kept their jackets on. I was completely frozen after eating. When I told the server it was very cold, they tried to argue and make me understand that the heating was on. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case. The staff showed no understanding. Furthermore, it took a long time for our food to arrive, and we also had to wait a long time to pay, even though the restaurant wasn't full. As we were leaving, a staff member was standing behind us clearing the table and gave the impression that we were expected to leave quickly. The restrooms are generally clean, but still unacceptable because the windows are always open, and the stalls are always at outside temperature. They are difficult to access for people with mobility issues, as there are only stairs. We will not be coming back.

The starter was simply a slimy, MSG-laden mess, the Peking duck was just bad, and the second course featured the Peking duck meat again served in a tasteless, slimy sauce. The salad was dressed with store-bought mayonnaise. The staff was friendly and the ambiance was okay. But the food was unfortunately almost inedible. Hence, only 1 star. We were there as guests at a birthday party and were invited. Had I been the host, I would have refused to pay.

It's always a pleasure to come here. Excellent food, excellent service, and a lovely atmosphere! It's definitely worth coming to Kassel to visit this Chinese restaurant!

I was in Kassel on business and just wanted a light meal – it was Monday evening. I looked around, found a few places, but they were mostly overpriced – and I didn't want to spend €30 on something so simple. Then, while walking by, I saw the Peking Chinese Restaurant. It looked rather unassuming from the street. Inside, it was huge, authentically Chinese, and the service was very friendly. The food was delicious. I started with curry soup with beef, mushrooms, and leeks, freshly prepared and piping hot – just the way I like it. For my main course, I had sweet and sour fried chicken. Also very tasty and absolutely reasonably priced. I had a wonderful time there and left more than satisfied. Thank you so much!

Ate there during a business trip. The food is not typical Chinese. More or less to the German taste. I ordered sweet and sour pork and the dish was not tasty, no flavor no sweet. Also I asked for a fried rice and there was nothing in it and I paid €10 for a plate of rice that was just fried.

We had lunch here on Sunday, November 16, 2025. Everything was very tasty and good. We are very satisfied. We will definitely come back again.

Very nice people, very tasty food! If you have to change trains at Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe, walk the 100m and get something decent to eat there! If you call or let them know, they'll prepare the food as quickly as possible, so you don't have any problems with the train.

Simply excellent! The value for money is hard to beat. We went there spontaneously today, five of us plus a baby. A reserved table of 10 arrived at the same time, and since I'm a chef, I immediately told my family that it would probably take a little longer. I was proven wrong. The drinks and food were served quickly, but with plenty of time to choose, and the quality was excellent. Special requests were fully accommodated and brought to our tables one by one. I would like to highlight the nice lady serving us. She came over, took our order, and then went straight to the table of 10 and took their orders there, each one for a meal!!!! She quickly memorized 15 dishes, plus special requests, WITHOUT a pen or anything else!!! 😳 Hats off to this performance, and always so friendly, that's rare! We were there a long time ago and had a good experience with the food, just as the reviews here are average. We went there again yesterday, and the food was below average compared to all other Chinese restaurants, and one dish was completely inedible. It was the sweet and sour fish. It wasn't fish, just breading. The little bit of fish inside was overcooked. The rice was also not good and very dry. Out of frustration, of course, we didn't tip. We won't go there again.

We visited the Peking restaurant because of its good reviews. From the outside, the restaurant looks appealing, but the interior is less so: The tablecloths were dirty, the cutlery was dirty, and the restrooms were also in poor condition. The service was generally good, but a strong, unpleasant odor from the staff's sweat was a nuisance. At the time of our visit, the restaurant was sparsely attended. The food was more like a takeaway restaurant—much of it tasted like canned food and was very greasy. We found the prices surprisingly high considering the quality offered. **Conclusion:** Unfortunately, it didn't appeal to us.

We called just before closing time, and the woman on the phone was very nice! The woman there was also very friendly and welcoming. It was really quite expensive, though. We had fried noodles and fried rice. Both without meat and with only vegetables, each for €10.90. With chicken, it would have cost exactly the same, which I find a bit odd. It tasted okay, but unfortunately it was very greasy, and the noodles were, oddly enough, spaghetti.

Delicious and inexpensive. The perfect break when you're waiting for your train. I'll be back.

We were there with several people and had several spring rolls. These were of varying quality - some very good, some unfortunately also very greasy. The beef came in a standard Chinese sauce - unfortunately quite unimaginative. The vegetables were mixed. The breaded duck was average. We've had better experiences here in the past. Overall, no recommendation.

For all the people who think you can treat yourself to a Chinese restaurant for 8 euros (like 10 years ago)... Times have changed! But the “Beijing” has a good price-performance ratio. And everything else is great! I'd love to come back.

We had ordered a table for 6 people and although the restaurant was empty we only got a tiny table - despite a complaint this was not remedied. The portions were quite small and expensive. We probably won't come again...

We have been customers in Beijing for almost 50 years now. The dishes are always fresh, very tasty and quickly prepared in the wok, so there are no long waiting times in the restaurant. The service is always nice and courteous. The prices are cheap.

After a really delicious meal we were escorted out, even though we hadn't finished our drinks and were thinking about dessert. The table was needed for new guests! The friendly service beforehand is of no use if a nice evening is abruptly ended by the waitress. Conclusion: no tip and in the future we will go somewhere else, Kassel offers enough alternatives.

The outdated inventory with simple table tops and uncomfortable, sagging chair covers Just like the countless plastic flowers as decoration, it needed a refresh. However, delicious food (wontons, chicken soup, baked duck, beef) and attentive service get full marks. Recommended.

The food was totally greasy and relatively tasteless. Even the crispy chicken was dripping with fat. I wanted to eat the fried noodles with the chicken instead of rice. I was told that wasn't possible, you could only order the fried noodles as well. Then why don't you take half the extra portion of the noodles as an extra charge? So I stood there with rice and fried noodles. The crowning finale was a visit to the toilets, where it smelled of burnt fat, drains and indefinable substances. Once and never again!!!!

Very small and tasteless portions. Long waiting times, we sat with 9 people at a table for a maximum of 7 people. Cashing out was also difficult because anyone who wanted to pay by card had to follow the waitress to get to the machine. The process of paying took just as long as the process of eating. I always try to highlight the advantages of the restaurant in my reviews, but I didn't notice anything positive about the Beijing Chinese Restaurant that would be worth mentioning. After leaving the restaurant we went to get something to eat because almost everyone was still hungry. Too bad

I was just there with my girlfriend, the staff was super nice, the food was super delicious, and for the price we paid just under €31.00 with drinks, it was definitely worth it. The only thing that could be seen as negative is that it took a little longer, but the fact that it was very well attended definitely justified the waiting time

About 30 years ago we regularly dined here with friends. This is due to changed living circumstances Habit unfortunately fell asleep. Today we were there again and the spring rolls and the “eight treasures” tasted just like they did back then. Simply delicious. 😋

We've eaten there twice now, everything was very tasty, curry soup, baked duck, vegetarian noodles. The baked banana with vanilla ice cream is a real treat! Unfortunately, we are not from Kassel and will therefore probably no longer be able to enjoy this restaurant. But still a clear recommendation!

Long-established restaurant where I have been coming in off and on for over 35 years. For me it's the best Chinese restaurant there is today. The food and ambience have remained the same for as long as I can remember. A clean, cozy restaurant in the retro style you know from the past. The service is unbeatably good in terms of absolute friendliness and customer orientation, which is probably because it is a family business, I suspect. The food is always fresh and of absolutely good quality, the spring roll alone speaks for itself. I hope that this restaurant will be around for a long time, because for me it belongs to Kassel like Hercules. If you're looking for a buffet, you won't find it here, as it's only a la carte, which I personally think is fine, as I find buffets mostly disgusting when everyone picks at everything and coughs on it. So, dear Peking Restaurant team, keep it up, because big restaurant chains can't hold a candle to you in any way. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I wonder how this store can even survive. The facility is at least 30 years old. You think, oh come on, it will definitely taste good, after all the restaurant has been around for a long time. Then you sit down at a table with plastic wrap and order a platter for two people that cost about 30 euros. The waitresses were ok. The food was served on a metal tray. I felt like I was in prison. Not a bit better in quality than a good buffet Chinese. Price performance is zero. Would have liked to take a picture but didn't want my phone to vomit. Never again ! Not recommended!

Were there for the first time because we were at a trade fair. The food was very tasty and freshly prepared. It must be clearly stated that it is not heavily seasoned (VEGETARIAN VEGETABLE DISHES) so you could clearly taste the taste of the fresh vegetables. However, salt and pepper as well as soy sauce are on the table. So seasoning is not a problem. We preferred not to eat anything too spicy. Service was quick and friendly. Requests such as vegetarian spring rolls were catered for. Always my pleasure.

I was greeted very friendly and shown to my table. Drinks and food came very quickly. The Peking soup wasn't spicy enough for my taste. The main course, fried chicken with bamboo, was delicious. The toilets could use a little renovation. But it was very clean.

Were there again after a year. The price has increased since then and the chicken schnitzels are flattened like flounder. This way you can make very thin chicken schnitzels look big on the plate. You don't get full.

The restaurant was decorated in a typically Chinese style. We had to wait a long time to order. The food was OK, but needed additional seasoning. Besides, neither of us were full. I found the price of our meal to be below the upper limit. Don't know if we'll come back again.

Very good atmosphere. Perfect location. Just a short walk from the train station. Good value for money. Food is okay, nothing special. It tasted like a snack. A little tip: order Leiber 1€ more and the spring rolls with the lunch special.

This was the second time we've eaten here and we wanted to give the restaurant a second chance because of the good reviews... unfortunately we didn't like the food at all this time... it took almost an hour for the food to be served to us even though it was were just fried noodles. The restaurant was also well filled and everything would be good if the food at least tasted good. The soup consisted only of fat and was not seasoned at all just like the fried noodles... the noodles were floating in fat and also had a strange consistency and were not seasoned. I don't understand the many positive reviews... we will definitely never go there again and we know much better Asian restaurants

We got a table here at short notice based on a recommendation and were very impressed right from the start. We were welcomed very warmly, with a smile. We were served really quickly and warmly and the dishes were really delicious. Really recommended.

Good restaurant. Very professional despite the heavy crowds when we were there with a huge group. Good for a date, wouldn't go on a first date because it can be quite restless. I was told that it is the first Asian restaurant in Kassel. Sometime in the 80s.

Delicious food in a cozy atmosphere

Service staff friendly but apparently completely overloaded. The vegetable curry was bland and the sauce was extremely fatty. The soy sauce, which I urgently needed to season, was the cheapest stuff. The prices are moderate, but I've had much tastier food at many fast food restaurants for half the price.

An Sich ein sehr schönes Restaurant. Aber geschmacklich echt schlecht .nur Süss nur schwabbelig. Das Menü was wir hatten war einfach zuviel Zeit zwischen den Gängen .die Soßen einfach nur billig und verwässert. Die Ente fettig als dann nach fast 2 Std endlich der Hauptgang kam waren wir satt vom trinken und den schlechten vorspeisen. Suppe einfach nur Süss und gelartig. wantan schmeckte nach nichts die Soße hellrosa Wasser ohne geschmack. Die Pfannkuchen mit Entenhaut kalt geschmacklos die Soße diesmal braun ...wieder wässrig süß. Dann der nicht mehr geklaubte Hauptgang .selbst der Reis wässrig. Das Essen gibt's überall besser .und dann kam die Rechnung 190€ für 3 Personen. Wahnsinnig liebes Personal aber das gleicht dem Rest nicht aus .wir kommen nie wieder .alles gute

Sehr freundliche und schnelle Bedienung. Essen war auch sehr schnell zubereitet und heiß. Geschmacklich war es eine glatte 1! Von der Frühlingsrolle vorab bis hin zur Platte für 2 Personen war alles durchweg sehr gut! Auch unser Sonderwunsch bei der Platte (anstatt scharf zubereitetes Rindfleisch wollten wir gerne Rindfleisch Chop Suey) wurde gerne angenommen und wie bestellt serviert. Durchweg ein sehr gelungener Abend mit spitzen essen! Kommen gerne wieder und wir empfehlen das Restaurant sehr gerne weiter!

Besuch zum Mittagessen in der Woche. Das Restaurant war sehr gut besucht. Meine Frage nach einem Tisch wurde mit einer hektischen Geste in die entsprechende Richtung beantwortet. Die Bedienung war im Laufschritt unterwegs. Die Frühlingsrolle als Vorspeise schmeckte gut, die Ente süß-sauer war in Ordnung. Die gesamte Einrichtung wirkt etwas aus der Zeit gefallen, der Service war mir zu fahrig und hektisch.

Supernette Bedienung und sehr gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Dort gehe ich gerne wieder hin.

Essen für 21 Leute kurzfristige Reservierung war möglich. Schnelle Bedienung mit Getränken und Essen. Essen sehr gut, hätte etwas wärmer sein können. In den Toiletten sollte gründlich geputzt werden.
