China Restaurant Lotus in Baden-Baden

I have been to many European countries and love to visit Asian Crusine. This is the WORST treatment. I badly wanted a bowl of hot noodles soup, the waitress (maybe the she's the owner) explained that they only have it as appetizer, as soon as I only order that, she gave me a very cold treatment. I even tried to make conversation as there was 'Nasi Goreng' as I'm from Malaysia but was snub. Looking at the price, I knew it would be a small portion even before my soup arrived, I order a main dish which was a noodles, only then she started smiling. Looking at her welcoming and serving other Europeans with a smile, I felt insults. My whole dining experience was bad. The whole time I was there, she didn't bother to ask for my drink and I had my meal without a drink, when I tried to approach her, she was too busy to entertain my table. I was already annoyed. After my meal, I went to another restaurant and had a drink. The soup and the noodles was both a little salt, just like the restaurants. I would never go there again.

My mother went to this restaurant on Sunday, November 2nd, and ordered duck with rice. After only a short time, she found a hair in the rice and informed the waiter. The waiter immediately claimed it was her own hair—even though it was black and thick, while my mother has thin, copper-colored hair! He began arguing and contradicting her, which was absolutely rude and unprofessional. Then he suddenly just said, "Okay, okay," and walked away. My mother expected the dish to be replaced or an apology offered—but neither happened. The waiter simply ignored her or just repeated, "Okay, okay, it's fine." When asked directly if the dish could be replaced, he curtly replied, "No," and walked on. Such behavior is extremely strange and unfriendly. As my mother left the restaurant, the waiter even grinned mockingly after her. I therefore cannot recommend this restaurant in any way. My mother has never experienced anything like this before.

The cashier should be more polite and respectful to customers. The service felt unfriendly. If you order food to go, you are not allowed to sit at a table inside the restaurant, even when all tables are empty. Takeout orders cost the same as dine-in, which seems unfair to customers.

A very good restaurant, even for big appetites. There's no all-you-can-eat option, but you can still eat well and the price is reasonable.

Really tasty food — everything was fresh and full of flavor! The chef was super kind and friendly. I gave 4 stars for service and 4 for atmosphere. A bit of background music would make it feel cozier, and the waitress could be a little more polite. Overall, a great experience and definitely worth a visit!

Those who want to eat the real chinese food please just don’t be misled. The food is not real Chinese and the chef can't even speak Chinese, so funny they call themselves Chinese restaurant.

Super delicious and quick food. Exactly what you'd expect when ordering Chinese food. You can also order for pickup, and they even provide cutlery. Top-notch, so far the best place in Baden-Baden that you can afford.

I always take my food with me when I have a break. One thing I have to say: the portions are top-notch, the taste is top-notch. The service is top-notch. You get cutlery, even cutlery for sauce! and a napkin (I have to mention this, because in other restaurants with comparable offerings, you unfortunately have to beg for these things).

A typical Spanish-style Chinese restaurant. The ingredients are different, but the flavor is similar. I recommend the duck fried noodles. The waitress is super friendly.

I had a pleasant meal here. I ordered the red vegetable curry from their Thai menu. It was not spicy, but it was flavorful and the portion was generous. I felt welcome as a solo diner. Good options for vegetarians.

The food was super salty and not authentic, while the waitress was very blunt and not very hospitable. The portion was good, but for the queasy feeling you will get after the food it is not worth coming here. I believe there are better restaurants around the area and suggest you find somewhere else to go if you are planning on coming here and having something to eat. The owner of the restaurant was very nice though, although he didn't speak Chinese which I found quite curious.

PSA: if you are American and want good tasty flavorful Chinese food, this is NOT the spot. They are super nice and the portions large but the food is flavorless. Even the Szechuan dish had no spice! It may fit the German palette though… just trying to help out other travelers if you are in the area.

The male owner is very nice, the female owner is extremely rude. I keep trying to order food and sit down in the restaurant, only for the woman to yell at me in a completely rude and impolite manner, telling me I can only take the food to go, even when the restaurant is COMPLETELY EMPTY. The woman is getting worse and worse. I would recommend not going in if it's obvious that the woman is serving alone at the time. In my experience, that usually ends with me eating Peking soup like a homeless person on a park bench. The man is really nice, though.

So when we are in Baden-Baden it is a must to eat here. Great value for money, large portions and friendly service. Here you get something for your money.

The red coconut Thai curry tastes world class! 12/10. I got this 3 times in 2 weeks because it tastes so delicious. The service is incredibly friendly and dogs are very welcome! Prices are 100% justified and completely okay, the portions are huge.

Duck fried rice tasted just as expected! It was okay, but the dumplings were unexpectedly delicious. You can think of the seasoning as the sweet and sour pork seasoning. The staff was really friendly. Even though I couldn't speak English, they treated me well and even packaged the leftover food.

Food was great. Staff very very friendly. What left an impression: The friendly waitress remembered six orders. Mention that everywhere there is a drink and a starter to go with the main course you have already ordered. Clean shop. Everything great!!!!!

The male waiter was friendly, however the female waiter (or owner) was extremely rude. After ordering lots of food and drinks, I ordered a glass of tap water for my daughter. Instead of telling us that they didn't offer any, the woman said loudly: "Water isn't free in Germany." Even when I asked her about it afterwards, there was no sign of understanding. When I went to the checkout to pay after my meal, the same woman told me in the same very loud and rude tone: “Your card doesn't work.” I asked her to check the connection on her device, as this is my debit card that I use every day uses. However, she repeated herself loudly until it worked. Again there was no hint of an apology. The experience was very disappointing and I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone because of this treatment.

Die männliche Bedienung war freundlich, jedoch die weibliche Bedienung (oder Inhaberin) war extrem unhöflich. Nachdem ich jede Menge Essen und Getränke bestellt hatte bestellte ich noch ein Glas Leitungswasser für meine Tochter. Anstatt uns mitzuteilen, dass sie keines anbieten, sagte die Frau lauthals: „In Deutschland ist das Wasser nicht kostenlos.“ Selbst als ich sie danach darauf ansprach gab es keine Anzeichen von Einsicht. Als ich nach dem Essen zum bezahlen an die Kasse ging sagte mir die gleiche Frau im selben sehr lauten und unhöflichen Tonfall: „Ihre Karte funktioniert nicht.“ Ich bat sie die Verbindung ihres Gerätes zu überprüfen, da dies meine EC Karte ist die ich täglich nutzt. Jedoch wiederholte sie sich wieder lauthals bis es dann klappte. Wiederum gab es keine Spur von einer Entschuldigung. Die Erfahrung war sehr enttäuschend ind ich würde aufgrund dieser Behandlung niemandem diese Restaurant empfehlen.

Leider war mein Besuch im Restaurant sehr enttäuschend. Besonders unangenehm war das Personal: Das Personal war unfreundlich und wirkten genervt, als ob man sie mit jeder Bestellung stören würde. Ich hatte gefragt ob noch ein Tisch frei wäre da alles leer war daraufhin wurde mir gesagt es sei alles reserviert gewesen also bin ich gegangen und auf meinem Weg nach draußen kam ein anderer Kunde hinein und fragte nach einem Tisch sofort wurde ihm ein Tisch gezeigt und die Speisekarte gebracht obwohl er nicht reserviert hatte, ich jedoch wurde 10 Sekunden zuvor noch abgewiesen, etwas dreistes Verhalten. Insgesamt keine angenehme Erfahrung – ich werde definitiv nicht noch einmal hingehen da ich dieses Verhalten nicht unterstützen werde.

Everything is very good. VERY LARGE portions and well cooked, the duck very well done, crispy but tasty. Fast and attentive service. We entered a bit by chance and it was a 100% success. If we were still in the city we would return often, I have no doubt!!

Obviously in this kind of place you won‘t expect superb chinese restaurant, so be realistic. With this expectation in mind, you should have a hearty meal in this restaurant if you, like my family, needs Chinese food to survive. Note that the staff do not understand any form of Chinese. It says “China restaurant” but the cuisine is not identifiable from any specific Chinese province. Clearly it is a very westernised Chinese version (remember, expectations!!). The only thing that is very Chinese here is the Chinese tea (again don’t expect the very premium type for this location).

Very good cuisine. But we asked for a glass of tap water. Charged 3.80 euros! The waitress then shows me a bottle of volvic behind the counter, not served at the table. That's not the way to do it.

We come to Baden Baden about twice a year. We already know the Lotus restaurant from previous visits. We were curious to see whether we still liked the food. We ordered: Duck with coconut milk and other ingredients. It's amazing what we were served. A perfect meal centered around duck. Perfectly seasoned and served on a plate ( rice) and served in a bowl (duck and side dishes). Sensational. You can't eat better. Thanks for this great meal. The waitress, Ms. Lotus, served us perfectly served. We give it 7 out of 5 stars and will come back tomorrow.

Super freundlich, keine langen Wartezeiten und Essen super lecker. Spontan hin, aber nicht bereut. Hatten das Chicken Curry, welches mit scharf angegeben war. Wir fanden es angenehm (ich esse selten scharf!) Der Vorspeisensalat war etwas Zwiebellastig für mich (mein Mann fand es super)!

I've been eating here since I was 14 and it's always been delicious. But I heard more and more often from people who ate there that mice or rats had been spotted there. Of course it's not possible. I didn't believe it but the last time I ate there I had a huge fly in my food. Disgusting and not clean. The employee at the front was also unfriendly. Not recommendable.
