ChiHot is... peculiar! I'm local & have eaten here a few times now. Right off the bat: Either arrive there incredibly hungry or order takeout because the food is filling, the portions are large & taking leftovers home is NOT an option. Takeout portions are slightly smaller, but the to-go containers are so high-quality that I reuse them at home! You basically get Tupperware. That's probably why they don't pack up leftovers... 😄 The atmosphere in the restaurant is rather.. damp? It often smells of chlorine cleaner, and the air is so humid that the windows fog up and condensed water starts running down. A bit unsettling but I personally think it adds character. The service is rather "pragmatic and efficient" in their communication, which many Westerners will perceive as very unfriendly. Maybe it's totally different when speaking Mandarin. I know there are worlds of difference between Chinese and German (generally western) culture. I usually received a smile from the owner every time I was there, simply by making an effort to be considerate and friendly. Service aside- it's the food that counts. And count it does. ChiHot, I'd say, is tasty, but very mediocre in everything that isn't chinese, and incredible for everything that is chinese. The Baozi for example are amazing. Summed up: For a really good price you'll be getting tasty food, and if you're into Chinese cuisine, especially side dishes, this is your place to try. 谢谢你们的款待！

Not Japanese style, but still delicious and super cheap

I've traveled a lot in Germany over the past few years and have eaten at many Chinese restaurants. But this is by far the best. The food is incredibly delicious, and the service is very friendly. Everything seems very fresh, and the homemade noodles are truly excellent. It looks unassuming from the outside, but don't let that fool you. Highly recommended.

First, the positives: The noodle soups are really great, absolutely nothing to complain about. And then we move on to the overwhelmingly negative points. The service is incredibly unfriendly. We initially blamed it on the language barrier, but quickly changed our minds. It seems to be more of a personal issue after all. Another major negative point is that you can't take leftovers home – even for an additional charge. By 2025, the issue of food waste, which we must avoid, should have reached everyone. And even if you're vehemently opposed to being conscious about food, you can at least politely convey this (or at least try to). Instead, they simply pointed out the menu, where it was clearly printed. Sorry at this point that I don't scan the menu for fine print in a restaurant...

Best Asian food in Paderborn. 😋

I've been there several times now. The small appetizers are really sweet, the prices are really reasonable, and the chicken ramen is a good portion and delicious.

Mmm, very tasty, full marks for immersing yourself in authentic Chinese food! The wait can sometimes be long because this place is so popular, so don't go hungry ;) When choosing dishes, after ordering a vegetarian dish, they carefully noted that the next item contained meat. This just shows how attentive they are. And then there was a starter, which is great for stimulating the stomach. Enjoy your meal :)

After hearing good things about it, I ordered several dishes. This isn't easy, by the way, since the menu is only available as a photo somewhere on Facebook. The ambiance... well, it's good enough for pickup. Service is friendly and fairly quick. The dishes themselves are generously sized portions. They're a bit musty, though, and the beef is mostly bacon. The "knife noodles" are the same as the supposedly handmade ramen. However, they taste more like instant noodles and aren't shaped like knife noodles. As a salty snack after a night out, it's okay. But really not that great.

Conditionally. The manager seemed to be having a rough day. There was no smile, and we felt "rushed." It was annoying that we got beef ramen instead of chicken. The baozi weren't cooked through, and the filling was "a touch of nothing." The price/performance ratio wasn't OK. The wait time was OK. We won't be returning for a while. What a shame!

I've been ordering from here for years; in my opinion, it's the best place in all of Paderborn. I absolutely recommend the ramen soup (No. 24), the dumplings (No. 50), and the noodles (No. 18). The portions are absolutely generous and incredibly delicious! The kimchi also gets a 10/10. I've only eaten in the restaurant once so far, and it's usually busy and a bit stuffy, so I always pre-order for pickup and pick it up within 20 minutes. 💞

Insanely good food. Great vegan selection. Every meal even comes with a small appetizer. Many dishes can be made vegan. For example, there are vegan baozi, or the mapo tofu can be prepared vegan upon request and tastes amazing. We always stop by when we're in Paderborn.

The food was great. The "Rahmen" soup had a rich broth and tasted extremely good. The ambiance left a little to be desired; it was warm outside, there's no good way to ventilate, and then there was the hot food. But you can't just tear down the glass front and replace it. That's something you can live with when you're eating. The staff was very friendly. It definitely keeps me full for the day, and I highly recommend trying the "Rahmen" soup. I'll be back next week when I get hungry again and need something to eat.

Paderborn's best Chinese restaurant, especially the authentic dishes. Highly recommended. The location is quite plain, and the lifestyle-oriented guests might not like it. But our Chinese fellow citizens buy their food here!

Delicious, large portion, flavorful and not expensive

I ordered two meals and the baozi are amazing! The soup could have been a bit spicier, but it was still good! The noodles tasted good. The portions were generous! The staff was friendly every time! I don't mind if there's not much conversation, but the service was good! The food was ready within 20 minutes and was very hot and fresh! Thank you so much! I'll be back!

Although ChiHot offers some vegetarian and vegan options, the selection is quite limited. The service is more reminiscent of a snack bar - functional, but not very personal. The portions are generous, which is positive, but unfortunately the taste is not very convincing. Both the vegetables and the tofu were fairly neutral and could have used a lot more seasoning. Overall, the food seemed rather boring. The highlight of the visit was actually the little greeting from the kitchen - well seasoned and much more aromatic than the rest. Okay for a quick bite, but overall just average.

The smell of fried food is already quite heavy in the air. The starter was very tasty, the Vegan Chizza were simple but also quite good. In terms of taste, we expected more from the Veggie Knife Noodles, as it felt like everything was missing - tasteless wok vegetables with noodles and soy sauce, and the tofu didn't have any special flavor either. The service is like in a snack bar, even if the location is like a restaurant. All in all, pretty unloving.

The food tastes fantastic! The older lady is not so polite and you often don't understand her. I find the seats there quite comfortable.

The vegetarian ramen with handmade noodles is a real treat. The owner is very friendly. I'm almost glad that the place isn't particularly inviting, because otherwise you'd probably fight to get a table here and the owners could easily add 50% to the prices and still have enough customers. That means: The food and the prices are really very good.

We ordered there to pick up. Parking is difficult there. You can also pay by card. I had the pork pulled soup, which was okay but unfortunately not seasoned enough. My wife had the beef pulled noodle soup and unfortunately she wasn't satisfied either. She didn't like the noodles and the beef had a lot of mushy fat. But the dumplings were amazing.

Five of us were there in time for opening hours and were able to occupy a table. Since the restaurant is popular and in demand, tables are filled quickly. The owners are friendly and prepare the food quickly. Prices and quality are appropriate because the food is excellent. The space isn't particularly attractive, but that all goes away once you sit inside and enjoy the food.

I eat here regularly and can especially recommend the noodle soup with pork, jiaozi and baozi. The handmade noodles are really delicious! I think the prices and waiting times are reasonable.

Update: For me it is (by far) the first choice for Chinese food in Paderborn. How come? Because there isn't just sweet and sour duck or 8 delicacies here. On the contrary! The menu includes 58 delicacies, most of which you have probably never eaten before. I have now tried around 70% of the menu and have never been disappointed. If you're not in the mood for run-of-the-mill Chinese takeaway food, this is the place for you. The portions are generous, the prices are fair and the service is absolutely fast, reliable and friendly. A quick tip: the back of the card contains a Chinese page that is only partially translated. There are still some delicacies hidden there 😊 Two downsides: the shop could be a little more comfortable and payment by credit card is no longer possible. Therefore only 4 stars.

I always enjoy coming here. The dishes differ significantly from a standard Asian snack, which is why I would recommend not trying the classic sweet and sour chicken/duck, but something different. I prefer to eat the ramen or the hand knife noodles.

In Paderborn one of the only shops with good ramen etc., service etc. is friendly. You also get a kind of appetizer (banchan) for free, which tastes very good. So far all the dishes have convinced me. Great value for money. Highly recommended. It's still in the center, so to speak, so it's easily accessible. Even if it doesn't really look like it from the outside, the food tastes very good (by Paderborn standards)!

Good morning! We were at ChiHot today (August 16th). We like to eat ramen, but we didn't know the place yet. The food was okay for the price and the quantity was more than enough. There was also a little something upfront, which was super cool! :) Unfortunately, we totally overestimated the quantity when we ordered, so half of our dishes were left over. When we asked if we could pack the rest, the lady behind the counter replied with "we don't do half and half". Since all the dishes on the menu are also available to take away, we were very surprised. Unfortunately really unfriendly and a shame about the food.

The food was delicious but the treatment there was really very unfriendly. It was so hot in the store that my partner and I were completely hungry. It was 20 degrees outside and an estimated 33C inside. They don't pack food. I politely said that the food was very tasty but that we really couldn't eat it in the heat there and whether it would be possible to have it packed up. She was extremely annoyed that I asked and expressed it like "yes, bad luck". So I only have a nice experience where people radiate friendliness and unfortunately that wasn't the case at all. We had to eat two while we were eating We went outside because we were sweating like we were in a sauna. Our neighbors at the table confirmed the whole thing to us.

Delicious food, but unfortunately way too hot in there on warm days. No effective air conditioning. In addition, our leftovers weren't packed, which was really annoying; Food waste. And because you were getting hotter and hotter, you lost your appetite for something warm, which left you with a lot of food left over. The selection of dishes and the portions are good, but the owner really still has a lot of room for improvement when it comes to friendliness. We were practically regular customers and enjoyed coming. It's a shame she doesn't appreciate that. As already mentioned, having food packed seems to be an absolutely huge problem.

Eaten on site. Chop Suey was very tasty and plentiful. Fresh ingredients. Great selection, several ramen dishes. A small appetizer is served free of charge. Price-performance fits. Nice service. Gladly again.

We ate here on Friday and were thrilled. As an appetizer there was a sweet surprise which consisted of some kimchi and other things - free and very thoughtful! The main courses were fantastic: the homemade ramen noodles were perfectly prepared and generously portioned. Everything we ordered was extremely tasty and the portions were really big. The prices are very reasonable for the quality and quantity; The two of us only paid around €30. It was a snack bar but not a 5-star restaurant. Unfortunately there were no desserts that we would have wanted. The service was extremely nice and attentive. Overall a great experience!

I was here as a tourist and read previously that they serve large portions and don't pack anything in case there is any left over. I wanted to order dumplings first, but they were already sold out (6 p.m.). I then wanted to order Mapo Tofu and asked for a slightly smaller portion and would also pay the normal price. I was informed that they would not do such a thing. I still don't understand the meaning to this day. I definitely don't want to throw away food. So I just took a starter (duck in dumpling and hoisin sauce). It was quite okay. The ambience is simple and practical. It was pretty hot in the store itself. I will give the shop another chance next time I'm in Paderborn because I believe they make good food and can do it better. Maybe they just had a stressful day.

I went to this Chinese restaurant with my friends for dinner. The place is kinda small, but the vibe is cozy. The staff wasn't exactly the friendliest, but they did give us some free kimchi and salad. We ordered kimchi, veggie noodles, and crispy duck in soy sauce with sprouts. The kimchi was bomb, with a sweet, spicy, and sour flavor. The noodles were delish, and the crispy duck was on point. The portions were pretty generous for the price. But here's the thing, they wouldn't let us take our leftovers home. They said it's their policy or something. I don't get it, man. We ended up wasting so much food. When I asked the waitress about it, she was kinda rude. Not cool. I don't think I'll be going back there, even though the food was good.

Very tasty food, no 0815 like you often get served. I think the prices are absolutely reasonable for what you get, I even left a tip because I liked it that much. The service here is also very nice. The shop is cozy and can therefore get full quite quickly, but that's not a bad thing and in my opinion it shows that there is good food here. If I visit Paderborn again, I will eat here again.

Super lovely staff, especially the owner herself. Mega delicious food, always fresh and hot and perfectly seasoned. If necessary, sauces (e.g. hot sauce) can be added by self-service. There is always a small appetizer platter with kimchi, pickled cabbage and fried bread. Dreamy!
