CHIARO in Berlin

Das Karo ist ein fantastisches Restaurant und macht insbesondere vor oder nach der Staatsoper viel Freude. Es gibt auch ein extra Menü! Ich würde es jederzeit empfehlen und wir sind sehr gerne dort. 

Der Service war zum wiederholten Male leider eher ausbaufähig als überzeugend. Das schmälert den Gesamteindruck natürlich nachhaltig. Das Essen war wie immer gut!

Great Italian restaurant. Map rather small, but “less is more”. The dishes are excellent. I can highly recommend the sea bream royal in a salt coating. Desert: The spaghetti ice cream is unbeatable.

My friends and I did not eat in the restaurant but rather had a few drinks at the bar on a Saturday night. We sat on bar stools at the bar, met some nice & interesting people and enjoyed our good but expensive cocktails. What struck me as disproportionate was the complete lack of attention from the bar team. Granted, they are very busy with all the orders from the bar and restaurant, but being ignored, never eye contact, never asking if we need anything - not the experience I had expected from this so-called classy establishment. I was a bartender for many years and I know that eye contact and communication with those sitting at the bar is not only essential but in the interest of the establishment's reputation. Not to mention it is simply part of the job. Kudos to the one bartendress who actually spoke to us & smiled.

Lovely staff. Courteous helpful charming especially the senior staff and both the senior man and woman could not have been more charming and more helpful and open to our requirements they and their staff were all lovely. Where I think the restaurant is badly let down is the coldness of the ambiance. It has zero atmosphere. The music played was entirely inappropriate and hardly relaxing which, if one wants music over lunch, is what one wants it to be. The service as far as it goes is good and would be good enough for a slightly less high standard establishment but this is a 4 or 5 star hotel there needs to be more thought given to check the order not just saying yes to an order for beer but asking which beer and what size and the table needs to be wiped clean after a course is finished even if it is just wiping away a few crumbs. It felt like the staff , who were all very willing, very nice and helpful just lacked a little experience. I would like to return once they have that because once they do this could be a great restaurant , with good food, nice location, reasonable prices for the area, lovely stall this has great potential but please do something about the dull decor, what about a good original Italian painting. It’s odd because the corridor has plenty of great photographs. The restaurant was quite empty when we were there and that is killing to any business if there is not something to replace the lack of customers such as good music, good ambiance or a head waiter who makes it his business to greet the diners and make them feel important and individual without overstating his welcome. From what I saw both of your male and female senior waiters would be excellent at that.

Great service and exceptional food and wine! Our table had a nice view of the leafy courtyard. Be sure to try the spaghetti ice cream desert, great presentation and flavors!

Pastas are very good, the spaghetti ice cream dessert is a cute innovation.

Amazing experience. Worth the money. Staff were knowledgeable and attentive. Food was incredible, fresh sea bass cooked in a salt crust was the highlight.

For breakfast: Incredibly attentive and friendly staff with great eye to detail and perfect communication. (shout-out to Giovanni especially!)

Leider war unser Besuch im Restaurant Chiaro enttäuschend. Obwohl ich bei der Online-Reservierung angegeben hatte, dass es sich um ein Jubiläumsessen handelt, war kein Tisch für uns vorbereitet. Stattdessen wurden wir gebeten, draußen Platz zu nehmen, ohne Hinweise auf andere Sitzmöglichkeiten. Drinnen war es deutlich eleganter, und ein besonderer Tisch für unser Jubiläum wäre angemessen gewesen. Die Stühle draußen waren unbequem, das Besteck alt und unpoliert. Das Personal war unfreundlich und wenig bemüht. Von den vier bestellten Gerichten war nur die Pasta in Erinnerung geblieben, der Rest war durchschnittlich. Der Nachtisch, ein überzuckertes „Spaghetti-Eis“ mit Rhabarbersoße, war ungenießbar. Insgesamt haben wir für 180 Euro viel mehr erwartet. Vielleicht ist das Restaurant auf der Dachterrasse des Hotels eine bessere Wahl, da es zumindest eine Aussicht bietet.

Im Hotel de Rome ein Wochenende verbracht, wollten wir auch das Restaurant im Hotel ausprobieren. Und …. es hat sich gelohnt. Eine exquisite italienische Küche mit frischen Produkten wurde serviert. Im Innenhof herrscht eine sehr gemütliche Atmosphäre vor und der Service, wie es sich für ein Restaurant in einem 5 * Hotel gehört, excellent. Die Preise ebenso.

Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis stimmt nicht mehr. Das Essen ist für den Preis zu schlecht und die Auswahl sehr gering. Die Kalbsschnitzel mit der platten Panade waren besonders enttäuschend. Wir sind immer gern zu besonderen Anlässen ins Chiaro gegangen und haben es auch weiterempfohlen, werden es aber nicht mehr tun.

Loved the place and the service was quite good. The food was good, not great. The venison carpaccio was slice too thick and was warm when it was served. The beans served with the octopus were overly salty. The wines by the glass were delicious.

Diesem Restaurant ist sehr zum Empfehlen. Ich kam etwas zu früh, kein Problem, durfte mein Tisch auswählen. Die gesamte Ambiente, sehr Harmonisch. Der Service sehr aufmerksam. Ich fühlte mich den ganzen Abend sehr wohl und gut aufgehoben. Das gesamte Personal hoch kompent. Danke für den tollen Tages Abschluss.

Sehr leckeres Essen, kreatives und sehr dekoratives Ambiente in dem man sich wohl fühlt, beim Frühstück gibt es ein tolles Buffet und die nette Frühstücksmanagerin, kümmert sich bestens um einen! Ich komme sehr gerne wieder zum Frühstück und auch zum Dinner vorbei!

The taste is complicated for the price. Flavors that are not true to the basics. Only spaghetti was delicious.

We were there again at Chiaro for the morning post menu. The location, especially with the outdoor area, is very nice. Apart from a completely dry chicken breast, the menu was very tasty and served beautifully. The service apparently only consists of 2 specialists. A young lady with a bit of an Eastern European accent served us very nicely, although a little hectically, but that was due to the full restaurant. The explanation of the individual courses was rather carelessly rattled off by the colleagues, the serving consisted of "slamming" the plate down and running away, and there was no asking whether we liked it. It's a shame, it really spoiled the whole experience.

There is no increase. Delicate food, special wines, trained and extremely friendly staff, great ambience and exclusive audience.

Very bad service and no knowledge of the menu, but they said, but they charged.. very bad communication.

The menu was a revelation and the young team was simply great - each course was briefly explained and the selected wines were very harmonious... The relatively dark ambience of the restaurant alone takes some getting used to and may not appeal to everyone, but ultimately that's a matter of taste. Conclusion: you should treat yourself to a visit to Chiaro occasionally...

The restaurant at Hotel de Rom is good. We were part of the “Morgenpost Menue” gourmet event. The 5 course menu with accompanying wines was excellent. Unfortunately the service staff was rushed. You had the feeling that you should eat quickly and leave again. At the end the wardrobe was returned. The room was reminiscent of a storage area for drinks. Not worthy of a 5 star hotel Overall, nice evening. For the beautiful and rich

We enjoyed the current MoPo menu at CHIARO - lovely ambience, great service, great wine recommendations (thanks, Timucin!) and above all: excellent food! Even if the menu mentioned is of course an absolute bargain: a visit to CHIARO is always worth it!

Speisen waren exzellent und der Service (junge Dame mit französischem Akzent sowie junger Azubi) war 5 sterne-Niveau. Wir haben uns wieder sehr wohlgefühlt und kommen auf alle Fälle wieder.

Der Service war sehr unaufdringlich, hohe professionell und sympathisch. Sicher werden wir öfters kommen.

Very tasty food in a pleasant atmosphere with excellent service. Because my wife and I had spoken two sentences in English when we entered the restaurant and I then asked for our table in German, the waiter immediately came with a German and an English menu. Similar attentive service continued throughout the evening. For two people, two starters, a pasta dish, a grilled dish and a dessert are enough. Everything we ordered was delicious. The grilled asparagus (seasonal menu) was world class! The spaghetti ice cream is one of the best desserts I've ever had. And it's freshly prepared at the table!

Very nice restaurant. The food is already presented and the quality matches the prices. What doesn't fit is partly the taste. We had some dishes that were rather bland, but still very good in quality but simply very weak in taste. The kitchen could have had more courage, the ice cream flavors weren't convincing either. The pulp was really little, which is a bit questionable for the price. The taste is excellent! But then again come dishes that completely lack taste.. What I found very unfortunate was the price of the lobster pasta. 1. Was that the smallest lobster in the history of the restaurant and 2. Are they two separate dishes, pasta on which a piece of lobster is placed without a fusion of the two... That was a real waste of money and the feedback was responded to incorrectly (that yes otherwise you can order something else). Otherwise a nice restaurant in a relaxed atmosphere and with very good service.

For lunch: you can imagine how exquisite it could be; Composition with fennel and orange, but then the vegetables are served too cold :( as is the espresso. And olive oil, served with bread, is a frying oil. Really a shame!

We had a wonderful evening. The separate room offered our group a private atmosphere. We were able to enjoy an individual 6-course menu. Perfect service at mealtime and reception in the bar. There must still be a very nice roof terrace. Unfortunately the photos cannot be posted.

Unser Aufenthalt im Restaurant hat uns leider nicht gefallen. Das Essen war gut aber sehr hochpreisig und der Service vermittelte uns das Gefühl, dass wir froh sein durften unser Geld in dem Restaurant zu lassen.

Ich war mit einem Geschäftspartner essen und wir beide waren beruflich in Berlin unterwegs. Da wurde uns das Restaurant empfohlen. Das Essen war sehr lecker und das Ambiente war auch sehr gemütlich. Wir wurden sehr freundlich empfangen und auch bedient. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder, auch privat, wenn wir das nächste Mal wieder in Berlin sind.

Super Service, Beratung. Das Essen war genial, frisch sehr gut zubereitet.

We won't be coming back for dinner. All courses were unrefined and tasteless. I should have listened to my experience...steak from the pan (entrecote)...it won't work... The turbot was ok... nothing more. An undressed tartare isn't really convincing either. The corresponding wine accompaniment was the best thing It's a shame, the announcement promised more

Unfortunately a disaster. We decided to rent the separate room for an additional 500EUR (room rent). Unfortunately, it was not as desired or as expected from a restaurant in a 5 star hotel. The light in the room was constantly flickering and the music was too loud. Even though we said several times that the curtains should remain open, this was always rigorously forgotten. Basically no problem if the staff didn't neglect you or forget you as soon as the curtains are closed again. Unfortunately, the staff is also more than just unsatisfied. Not really to blame for how to serve/clean up, so at the end of the evening they thought they had completely messed up my shirt by throwing other people's cutlery into my sauce plate. I was then allowed to run after the shirt was cleaned because unfortunately the staff didn't get in touch with me as promised. A replacement shirt was provided... the size 39 was requested and I received the 41... super nice if you actually planned to move on for a final drink.

More then just disappointing. No 5 Star Restaurant atmosphere, we got the privat club room and it was looking like my basement... a friend told me that we even paid additional to get this "atmosphere". The day after we got a Dinner just around the corner it was cheaper, better in terms of quality and the atmosphere was way better then here. Really so disappointing... Regretting, to have paid for this dinner.

Admittedly, our expectations were very high, after all the restaurant is considered one of the best in Berlin. The service was very friendly, the atmosphere is very stylish. Our entres, tartare and linguine were fine. Although the zucchini flowers could not be found in the linguine. The lamb shoulder was a disappointment. It was well-done and dry instead of pink and juicy. And finally the service went down because we had to wait for our coats and no one helped my wife put her coat on. For the prices that are called in the Chiaro...

Bruch von 12:00-15:00. Leider Beginn erst 13:00. Ab14:00 keine Putenkeulen beim Adventsessen mehr da. Auf der Internetseite beschriebene Hirschpastete, Panettone nicht zu finden. Auf Nachfrage, keine Antwort. Und das alles für 110 Euro pro Person. Eine sehr schwache Leistung

Dreadful service. “Find your own table”, no explanation of day specials, little help with menu. Food, when it finally arrived was good, ambiance reflects the quality of the hotel. But, oh dear, service level atrocious for such a high quality establishment.

Great meal, very interesting wines and a very attentive service. We love it!

Leider wurden unsere Erwartungen nicht erfüllt - zum Frühstück nichts außergewöhnliches- es fehlte das Gewisse etwas und es hat lange gedauert bis Dinge aufgefüllt wurden , dem Servicepersonal fehlt es an Ambition ( Tische wurden nicht abgeräumt und man musste auf sich aufmerksam machen ) - sehr schade zumal das Hotel de Rome wirklich ein tolles Hotel mit viel Charme ist

Je me croyais dans un slapstick. Ce fut une expérience ridicule. La nourriture était si terrible - entrée digne de maison pour retraités, cacio e pepe immangeables car trop poivrés. Serveur à côté de la plaque et trop familier. Ambiance générale navrante. Une des situations de restaurant les plus absurdes que j’ai pu vivre.

Wirklich Außergewöhnlich! Wer mal etwas ganz besonderes ausprobieren möchte und den Fokus auf Geschmack, Qualität und Ambiente legt, der ist hier genau richtig. Gehobene Küche aber auch kein Chichi. Abseits vom Touritrouble in Berlin, bekommt man hier einen wahnsinnig guten Service in einer wirklich angenehmen und ruhigen Atmosphäre. Das Essen war ein kulinarischer Hochgenuss mit deutlichem Fokus auf den Geschmack und die Komposition aus einzelnen Zutaten. Es hat Spaß gemacht sich hier verwöhnen zu lassen und den Gaumen zu erfreuen. Wir waren zu zweit mit Aperitif, 3 Gängen und einem Espresso zum Schluss, pro Person ca. 100 Euro, was für das Haus (samt Hotel) völlig im Verhältnis stand. Wir kommen definitiv wieder!

Preise gesalzen, winzige Portionen. Geschmacklich nicht umwerfend aber vllt auch einfach nicht mein Stil. Die Bedienung war nett aber nochmal muss ich da nicht hin.

We went there for our anniversary and sure was not disappointed. The whole experience was outstanding. Will certainly recommend it.

Dessert: Mille Feuille , geschmacklich Top, schöne Creme, frisches Obst, schöne Nocke vom Eis, für mein Auge falscher Teller Restaurantleitung: 10/10 Diskret, freundlich, lockeres nettes Gespräch, Fisch perfekt serviert. Servicemitarbeiter brauchen mehr Schlaf, zu desorientiert, 157€ plus 15€ Tip musste mit Taschenrechner gerechnet werden, irgenwie witzig… Cocktails mit 20minuten wartezeit bei sehr geringer Auslastung zu lang, aber 10/10 Dessertwein Muskateller 10/10 Gerne wieder in dieses tolle Haus und Restaurant

Pasta was uncooked. Server unapologetic. Expected it to be combed or some other gesture. None was received.

A great spot lunch or dinner, everything about it is perfect; location is historic, venue is charming, staff engaging / helpful & professional, food what excellent as was wine selection. Very much worth a trip.

Obwohl draußen eine ganze Karte mit vielen Gerichten ausgestellt wurde, gab es in Wahrheit nur 6 Hauptgerichte zwischen denen man wählen konnte. Geschmacklich waren die Gerichte okay, jedoch für die Menge und den Geschmack preislich viel zu hoch. Das Ambiente war sehr schön. Die Bedienung war nett, jedoch ging alles ziemlich langsam.

Die Empfehlung für den "Beef - Hammer " war leider ein Reinfall.

Inedible food which we sent back. Just an awful experience that we would never want to repeat. Much have been the chefs night off and they were using a 2 year old to make dinner

Das Essen war ok, aber für dieses Preisniveau eben nicht sehr gut. Der Service war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Insgesamt trotzdem ein sehr schöner Abend.
