L'Osteria Berlin Memhardstraße in Berlin

I saw their new poster and I feel excluded by them. I am German by birth, white, have Polish ancestors, but otherwise apparently completely abnormal without any black relatives. I can only be on the right, right? I always thought Osteria was supposed to be a reminder of the East. But apparently she is no longer what she used to be. I will no longer eat there or in any other Osteria with this advertising concept. I feel discriminated against.

As an Italian I can say that I ate well. The pizza was good, the carbonara couldn't be defined as such because it was totally different from ours, both in appearance and flavor, but still for a pasta dish it was very good. Prices a little high compared to the Italian average, but in line with those of Berlin. I recommend it to you.

Sometimes “less is more”...The pizzas are way too big. No wonder the waiters are stressed because they are just busy packing up the leftovers...! My spaghetti “Aglio olio” didn't taste like anything... I then ordered chili oil, but that was just what it was called... But the young crowd that frequents there probably doesn't have such high expectations...

Big portions and very tasty! The waiter was a little less pleasant but the overall experience is very good. recommended!

Worst service ever received. Mains came out cold. Then plates were taken away and waited 40 minutes for dessert order to be taken. Gave up waiting and still had to go up to the waiter and ask for the bill instead. Would avoid like the plague

Me and my girlfriend just had dinner there. The pizzas were absolutely delicious, but the service was poor. A waiter flirts with you and keeps asking where you live and where you come from if we are studying. Then tell me what nice glasses I'm wearing. I don't think that's possible at all. Really bottom drawer.

Wow. Lovely pizza and lovely attentive man, who was Spanish speaking. Couldn’t wait to come back….how very sad was this. A female worker, who was rude and VERY confident from the offset. Quite happily ate a pizza, then spoke with her mouth full, numerous times, acted like she owned the place…maybe she did! Asked to Pay our drinks bill, was ignored. Very sad. This place is lovely. Came back for our booking….still waiting now to be served. Been here for about 45mins. Big thumbs down for me.

To eat Italian, in Austria and Germany, there is nothing better... All fresh products with a real flavour, no disgusting similarities!!!

Super nice employees. I was there today, I wasn't looking for anything specific, I had a fever, around 38.0, and had an important appointment, but I was supposed to eat something warm beforehand because I was so cold and I felt uncomfortable. I ordered a tomato soup (really delicious!) and the waiter found out that I had a fever and was very nice and sweet and brought me hot water with ginger and lemon, that was really attentive, thank you! Nice place with nice people and a pleasant atmosphere 🫰🏻🫰🏻

I waited 20 minutes. Wasn't served and treated like air. Then I'll just go eat somewhere else.

Second time we have come to this restaurant and we are still delighted with our dishes and the service. The pizza dough is excellent and the toppings are fresh. The beef fillet pasta with lemon sauce is very good. Looking forward to returning

Everything but don't call it an Italian restaurant, not even the menus in Italian, they don't speak a word of Italian, I say hello in Italian and they reply: please only English, but vaff.......

Get a place for two people without a reservation. The staff is nice and attentive. The pizzas are huge and delicious. Unfortunately, as always in such large stores, it is unavoidably loud. But a clear recommendation for Berlin-Alex.

So I was there today with a friend, we were welcomed at the front late, but okay, he led us to the loudest corner in the restaurant, we asked if we could move, which then took a long time, then arrived at the other table after 30 minutes, our order, my calzone was a little runny Everything seemed ok, but then a hair... oh dear, we didn't hesitate for long before we complained. He was polite and apologized several times and brought the calzone to us a little quicker than usual. Food was as tasty as in other Losteria locals but it was ok but I still shudder

A restaurant from the L'Osteria chain with typically large pizzas and down-to-earth Italian pasta. The service is excellent, extremely friendly and incredibly well organized. The wait is comparatively short. However, I deduct points for the extreme loudness, which in addition to the conversations of the others in the dining room is due to the constant very loud background noise from the kitchen (pots, dishes, everything is loud). You can look into the kitchen, but unfortunately you have to endure these noises. You can hardly have a conversation. I don't know that from many other branches of this chain. It is therefore uncomfortable in the interior. However, you will get full and the price-performance ratio is really very good for Berlin.

Finally a very tasty pizza again, the base is crispy, the edges are easy to cut, and the toppings are good. Unfortunately, while I was there, the service staff were more preoccupied with themselves than serving the guests in a friendly and good manner. That day I felt more welcome as a guest in the chain's other restaurants in Berlin. Update, November 25th, 2024: I have been here as a guest a few times now, and I was mostly satisfied with the cuisine and service. I can live with a forgotten order and a 30-minute wait for bruschetta later in the evening, around 9 p.m., with the friendly message from the employee. However, I have a lack of understanding with three employees in the kitchen who eat food there, regardless of whether they work in service or in the kitchen, regardless of whether they use a spoon or hold their hand in front of their mouth. Employees who see this say nothing. It also seems normal that their hands are not washed/disinfected after breaks or other activities. A kitchen employee packs his down jacket under the work table after his (cigarette) break; green and blue microfiber cloths lie on white worktops. Yes, it almost seems like people are happy to have employees there instead of making sure that these people also take a picture for guests. The glass front was sprayed with cleaning agent 3 times within 1.5 hours and wiped with kitchen roll without covering the food contained in the containers underneath, delicious and bon appetit. Things are still not going well here.

L'Osteria was amazing! Though there are a couple in the UK, we'd never been before, and we pleasantly surprised! We both had a pizza each (which we were warned were huge!) and they were! Had we not been very hungry, we could definitely have shared one between us. The staff were so friendly, and doing the pizzas in a love heart shape was a very cute touch!

A little too much pizza on the menu for my taste. I love Vitello Tonnato when the veal is swimming in the tuna sauce. In the Osteria the sauce is hidden under the meat. That's not my thing. The risotto was - as is often the case in restaurants - not chunky enough. All in all OK. Update after two years: a lovely evening. The Vitello still doesn't have enough sauce for me, but that's just the way it is and completely OK. The black noodles with shrimp from the monthly menu were really tasty. I'd love to come back.

In der L’Osteria geht die Türe auf und schon fühlt man sich wie in einer typisch italienischen Osteria: Hier kommen Menschen – Familien, Freunde, Pärchen, Jung und Alt – zusammen, um gut zu essen. Es ist ein bisschen laut, lebhaft und über allem schwebt der köstliche Duft der echten italienischen Küche. Ein offener, herzlicher Ort, an dem man so sein darf, wie man ist und sich wie zu Hause fühlt. Wir haben dieses neue Konzept zuerst bestellen, bezahlen und dann Essen ausprobiert.  Es hat wunderbar geklappt. Die Auswahl und Qualität der Speisen war sehr gut. Es wird alles ganz frisch und transparent zubereitet. Fazit: Preisleistungsverhältniss völlig in Ordnung.  Wir kommen wieder.

The door opens at L’Osteria and you immediately feel like you are in a typical Italian Osteria: people – families, friends, couples, young and old – come together here to eat well. It's a bit loud, lively and the delicious smell of real Italian cuisine hovers over everything. An open, warm place where you can be who you are and feel at home. We tried this new concept of ordering, paying and then eating. It worked wonderfully. The selection and quality of the food was very good. Everything is prepared freshly and transparently. Conclusion: Price-performance ratio is completely okay. We'll be back.

Girls night at this place and it was outstanding. There is high praise from the waiter to the kitchen. All of our wishes were fulfilled, with lots of wit and humour, it was a successful evening for everyone. Thank you for that, we'll be happy to come back!🤗

I ended up here by accident. The pizza was really incredibly big, it didn't even fit on the plate. Of course that was 1a for me. The food was also very good, as was the ambience.

The place is a bit crowded and packed together. The music was loud. The pizza was huge and very taste. Took us a while to pay the bill because all staff suddenly disappeared.

Food is typical L'Osteria, large pizzas with few toppings. The service here was rather bad. If you pay with a card, you will be forced to tip 10%. There are selection options on the device, but as a guest you don't get the opportunity to choose anything yourself. That doesn't work at all!

Friendly, efficient and really great tasting pizza and pasta reasonably priced . Highly recommend this restaurant and the staff.

Unfortunately I only have to rate this with 1 star because it was the worst service I have ever experienced in a restaurant! It starts with the starter. The waiter brought us bread, oil and balsamic vinegar. Since he didn't give us a plate, I asked if he could please bring us two more plates. When asked, he simply replied, “No, it’s not worth it, the food will be ready soon anyway.” On the one hand, we had to wait another 15 minutes (!) for our food - which is of course not a problem. I just wish I had a plate to eat my bread with oil and balsamic, and not dry. Both the plate with food and drink were placed at the end of the table instead of directly in front of me. It's a small thing, but I can also expect not to have to reach to the other end of the table to get my own food. When we were eating, my friend hadn't even finished eating and still had half of it on her plate when the waiter was already there and asked if we would like dessert. He shot the bird when it came to the bill. I've never been asked/indirectly asked if I can give him a tip (since when do you ask a guest something like that??). I kindly explained to him that I generally really like to give tips, but unfortunately I wasn't that happy with the service today. Instead of asking why, I was told in the most impertinent tone “that he was friendly and brought us our food”. I explained to him matter-of-factly and not accusingly, what I would have wished had been different, but I still wish him a nice day. Instead of acknowledging it or apologizing for it, he said, “Yeah, I don’t want to deal with you anymore,” and then left. I am really very disappointed that Loesteria hires such staff who don't even know the rules of good service.

We've been here eating pizza three or four times while visiting Berlin. What I noticed again, especially now, is that the staff is really friendly and the atmosphere among each other is really good. You can see how the employees get along very well with each other. Even if everything is reserved, you will find a place to eat. The pizza is very good, the place is clean and the atmosphere is fantastic. Keep it up!!!! And other L'Osteria can copy something from time to time. Thank you Berlin Memhardstrasse, we will be back.

The three of us were there in the evening without pre-ordering. After a short wait we got a table. The pizzas are really big and we really enjoyed them. The service was good and quick even though the restaurant was very busy. Everything was brought exactly as we ordered it. The price is also okay for the location. The only thing is that it is quite loud there when the store is full.

The food here is absolutely amazing—flavorful, fresh, and beautifully presented! However, the service leaves something to be desired. The waitstaff can be quite slow, and it’s frustrating to see empty tables held without reservations, especially when there’s a line of people waiting. With some improvements in service and seating efficiency, this place would be perfect!

Three days in Berlin....the best place we had lunch!! It feels like being in Italy, from the service to the cuisine to the cleanliness which is not an optional!! It's a shame that we didn't try the mega pizza, but from seeing it at other tables it looked really good too!!...I forgot if you come here...leave a place for the tiramisu which is a real BBABBBA'😅!!!

Simply top! Staff, service, location, food, cleanliness!!! I was very skeptical about L'OSTERIA in the Plus City (Linz - Austria) one of the worst experiences I have ever had. But everything went so well in Berlin. I just have to thank the staff.

A very warm welcome, very good cuisine. We were literally transported to Italy, by the decoration, the cuisine and the waiter who speaks Italian, it puts the sun in your heart ❤️. Keep it up, thank you for this little journey.

Very good Italian food! The only drawback for me was that I did not sense the restaurant was very English friendly. I suspect it was because many of the staff did not speak English. I don’t mention this as a criticism, but only an observation that has a tendency to create an uneasiness. I’ve had dinner here twice and found the food to be very good. In spite of the uneasiness due to the language barrier, I would still highly recommend a visit to this restaurant.

Surprisingly great place. Friendly staff, quick service, super tasty pizza and pasta. We were having lunch there with kids and all of us had a perfect meal. Rather big portions and pizza size for the reasonable price. Would recommend.

If it were possible to give 0 stars I would do so. We made a reservation at 9 p.m. and showed up about 5 minutes beforehand. However, we read that we have to wait here without service. Afterwards I wanted to ask when we would be served and was sent back to the door. Afterwards the employee in service followed me and served me at the entrance so that he could show me the table. After this process, we waited at the table for about 30 minutes before we could order. Customers who came after us were already served and had their food on the table. Not us! We decided to leave because it wasn't worth waiting any longer. We will avoid this restaurant chain wherever possible!

The best Losteria we have ever visited, our children were even allowed to bake their own pizza, incredibly friendly and delicious at the same time. Thank you for this great evening

Not good at all. You wait to be sitted at the entrance but waiter is to busy to talk with other waiters. They bring you huge pizza but no salt or oil on the table. The waiter energy is so negative its like he hate its job and costumers :) also he didnt give any reciept. He just put numbers on the pos machine. I am sure the price was okey but still no recipt about what we ate.

Unfortunately the opening times are not correct. From 10 p.m. there is only pizza to take away. And that at Alexanderplatz. On the weekend. When the city was bursting at the seams at the Festival of Lights. It doesn't work at all. Provincial level.

Got 2 pizzas from here, one margherita & the other a Siliccia Picaante. Very big pizzas! Would recommend either one between 2 people but if your very hungry for for 2 each. Pizzas were delicious, very thin crust the way I like & tasted just like pizzas you get in Italy. Very good price & service was fantastic, definitely book a table in advance!

Typically good pizza, good standard really. Unfortunately, the service didn't convince me. Not very attentive. It's also quite loud and you sit very close to each other.

Reservation is a must. But it worked well. The ambience is good, but the entrance area is not the most comfortable place to eat. We were lucky to be in the big room. The food is very tasty. Pizza, pasta and more. The pizzas are oversized to the plate, which I haven't seen that often before. Pasta also sounded very good, but there was no room for it in my stomach. The drinks are balanced, so everyone will find something. What I think is good is the production of our own bottled house lemonade. Good unique selling point. Service was great. The gentleman with the hat also advised me on the choice of food. (Sharpness level) And also treated my child very hospitably. If you have such a good experience, please give a tip. Service has become really rare in Germany. The rest of my child's food was also well packaged. I will come back when I get the chance to try the pasta. If you walk past the open kitchen and see it cooking, you immediately get hungry again. All in all, a very good location!

I tried the anchovies pizza and it’s really an interesting taste to try. All pizzas are very good and the crust is amazing! You can order 2 halves in one pizza, but the ingredients might get mixed up. Portions are huge though!

I ordered salad, the second time. All the ingredients were missing again. I told the employee. He comes back and says now the ingredients are in there. Some were still missing. Then he comes back again and I had to say it a third time that things were missing again! Then the waiter claimed that the ingredients were inside. He pointed to the red pepper and said “there are the tomatoes”!!! :-D How does something like that work?! I'm the superior. She said it didn't matter because he had it in now. And claimed it had been there before. And then she said that I couldn't clean up all the salad on the table. I had a lid and took the salad out. Thought Losteria was a normal store. Never again.

Ordered 8 pizzas to pick up via the website. The pizzas were only sparsely covered in toppings. For the money it was disrespectful!
