Chay Veganrestaurant in Hamburg

Essen OK, aber Service mies. Reservierter & zugesicherter Tisch war dann doch besetzt. Fast kalten Reis zu servieren, ist schon schlecht, dann aber diesen - nachdem man um eine Aufwärmung gebeten hat - nach 30 Sekunden wieder genau so lauwarm auf den Tisch zu stellen, das ist schon dreist. Service auch langsam und unzuverlässig. Es steht nichts auf dem Tisch, kein Salz, kein Pfeffer, erst recht keine asiatischen Gewürze - wie überall üblich. Alles muss einzeln bestellt werden. Bestellungen werden vergessen und müssen 2 bis 3-mal bestellt werden.

Nice decoration, very compact. We didn't like the food. It wasn't tasty and certainly not healthy. We had two main courses. Both were stir-fried vegetables. Once in a sweet and sour sauce (it wasn't announced on the menu) and once in teriyaki sauce. Both tasted like ready-made sauce. The sweet and sour was so sweet that I couldn't eat it. The good reviews are incomprehensible to me.

Unfortunately it wasn't what we imagined. Ginger Team has little taste... The food could have had more spices. There are better vegan restaurants in town. Atmosphere of the restaurant was very loud and not edible..

The food is really extremely tasty and beautifully prepared, and it was also very inexpensive. The employees were also very nice and I liked the facility too. Overall, a great restaurant where you get great food for normal prices and there is always something for everyone, I can only recommend it 🌟

Amazing food - we came here for lunch on Thursday before a train trip and we’re very satisfied with the food. It was so good we had to come back on the Monday for our last meal in germany. Really tasty vegan food, would come back again.

Absolutely delicious and lovely atmosphere!

As a starter we had: the green roll, the happy samosa and the chrunchy roll 1. Everything was really delicious and perfectly seasoned. For the main course we had the Monk Soup and the Pagoda Dream. The soup could have been a little stronger for me. The Pagoda Dream was a dream, super deliciously seasoned. To drink we had the jasmine-lime iced tea, which was also very tasty and was somewhat reminiscent of a not so sweet bubble tea. The portions are a bit smaller so you can easily order one or more starters. The service is very friendly and accommodating. You are served quickly and you are constantly asked whether everything is OK or whether you would like anything else. Thank you for the great food. 😍

It's very good in a very pleasant atmosphere, and at a very reasonable price. However, be careful not to look too much like you've finished eating, or your plate could be taken away! (It was a misunderstanding, I was almost finished and I couldn't say anything: I was paralyzed.)

Nice service. Food is so-so. I had the Spring Bowl, taste nothing. The best are the limonades, I had Guava Himbeer.

I can definitely recommend the Chay Vegan Restaurant. The service is really great (friendly, attentive and very, very fast despite rush hour) and so much vegan selection is absolutely fantastic. All the dishes we tried were very good, although the portion sizes (especially for the desserts) were rather small. The “Magic Blue Iced Tea” tasted a little too intensely of jasmine (somehow soap-like) to us and the Monk Soup could have used a little more spice, but of course these are just subjective impressions. The ambience is solid and relatively quiet, although you wouldn't expect that from the layout of the room. We would come back 🪿

Nice place, with nice and quiet atmosphere. Asian vegan food really good. What i really didn't like is a glue trap to kill mice inside the resturant. Actually we saw i little cute mouse eating crumbs on the floor. When we asked the waiter why in a vegan resturant they don't use a non lethal cage instead he just said "it's german culture". As a vegan and animal activist I will never go there anymore.

If you're looking for exceptionally delicious vegan Asian food, you've come to the right place. You immediately feel at home in the lovingly furnished restaurant with very friendly staff.

German-style Asian. No flavour in the food. Not enough protein. But nice that it's vegan. I asked for tapwater, got a vague reply about not having that, and in the end they gave me tapwater and charged 3,50 for it

We can really only give 5 stars in all respects. The service was great and the food was a dream! Rarely have I looked forward to every bite of the side dish as much as I did with this meal! A 10 out of 10.

Unfortunately, I have to change my initial 5-star review :-(. My last visit was anything but nice: Although there were hardly any guests there, they were processed hectically and simple special requests (without rice, with a side salad) were rejected on principle (" That's not possible!" - "But you have salad on the menu and the rice would be separate anyway, so you can leave it out?" - "No, that's not possible.") It's a shame! I won't be back come.

We can only rave about our stay at Chay. The atmosphere was modern and lovingly furnished, the team is very friendly and quick and every dish was an absolute highlight - including the drinks. Everything had an intense taste and yet was very cleverly seasoned. Since we don't come from Hamburg, we will miss it, so a big recommendation from us. Everyone should try this once!

Incredible food, lots of variety on the menu, and perfect for vegans/vegetarians. The service was always great and the atmosphere inside the restaurant was really pleasant. Couldn’t recommend it enough! Drinks are delicious too.

Super delicious food. A good selection of dishes. I was there spontaneously and was able to have lunch without a reservation. The only point of criticism. I had received my food very quickly, while I had only received my drink 15 minutes after the meal. I pointed this out and only received the answer that I would get my drink straight away.

Unfriendly service, no invoice received despite repeated requests. No thanks.

I ordered a bit much not knowing the portion size but everything was delicious ✨🍜 The only thing I can say to be improved is that they brought all food at the same time. Sushi was very good, loved the udon too! The monk soup was interesting, but not that memorable.

A spacious and carefully decorated restaurant. Both dishes (curry bowl + spring rolls) were really tasty! The spring rolls were crispy and tasted fresh (not twice fried). I also thought the Vietnamese iced coffee with coconut milk was delicious! The prices are surprisingly affordable for the location + ambience + food!!

The menu reads really well and we decided on two vegan sushi menus. Absolutely recommended and absolutely delicious! Very friendly and fast service. Great selection of vegan dishes and the location in downtown Hamburg makes it a very good choice for anyone who loves vegan cuisine. I'll be back!

Chay is our favorite restaurant in Hamburg. Reservations are recommended in the evening, otherwise you may not be able to get a seat. The ambience is beautifully decorated and aligned with the Asian theme. The price of the food is great compared to other restaurants. It's always super tasty. The homemade drinks are also made with love. The service is super efficient, friendly and proactive. As soon as you come in, you are greeted and assigned a seat. The food and drinks come out of the kitchen very quickly and very warm. In summary, I can say that I really enjoy going here and can only recommend it to everyone. There is also an inexpensive lunch menu :)

Food was amazing, thank you for that, also for the super nice service. An attempt was made to create a backdrop of street food in parts of Asia in the interior, which was successful, but does not invite you to linger for long.

Maybe I expected a little more since I work in the industry and love the restaurant industry, but I can say that the service was completely inattentive. Yes, almost absent. All 4 waiters regularly stood together and looked at their iPhones and showed each other videos (not just for a brief moment). Not once did the waiter ask if you would like to order something. We had to ask several times to finally be able to order, but no waiter (despite the store being full) wanted to put down his cell phone to attend to the needs of the paying guests... the food was okay, but not a highlight. But maybe the drops had already been sucked anyway, due to the catastrophic service of the waiters. A pity!

The wonton soup is by far the tastiest soup I have ever eaten! The soy fillet in the Pagoda Bowl is a miracle in terms of taste. Thank you very much for the taste experience!

Cool restaurant with delicious vegan dishes. All the dishes sounded delicious and we enjoyed ours too. The service struck me as busy and not very proactive. Depending on where you sit, the ambience is more comfortable or more suitable for a short stay. Depending on the volume, the conversations can also have a high general volume. Definitely a delicious experience. And a great lunch special!

I've been to Chay twice with my best friend, always in the evening (once shortly before the kitchen closed) and we got a table straight away both times. Both times it wasn't that crowded so I can't say much about the volume - it was ok. The service could actually be a little nicer, more attentive and faster, it took a long time before we could place our order and we weren't asked again later if we wanted to order something. We then got up to pay ourselves. The food and drinks are absolutely outstanding, good portions, and the price is ok. Great quality. I like it here, even if it could be a little more comfortable.

Ich muss einfach eine Rezension hinterlassen, da ich total begeistert von diesem Restaurant, dem angebotenen Essen sowie deren Service und der Atmosphäre bin! :) Die Kellner sind super freundlich und gehen auf individuelle Wünsche ein. Das Essen ist hervorragend und tatsächlich mit das Beste, was ich je in meinem Leben essen durfte. Wir waren leider nur für einen Tag aus Leipzig in Hamburg, aber bei unserem nächsten Besuch der Hansestadt würden wir auf jeden Fall wiederkommen! Auch für Nicht-Veganer eine absolute Empfehlung! Der Tofu hat sogar meiner Begleitung sehr gut geschmeckt, der sonst Fleisch isst und auch ich war vom Tofu begeistert, da dieser auf eine ganz andere Weise, als ich es bisher kannte und sehr pikant zubereitet wurde. Weiter so! :)

I tried the vegetarian experience of the famous Asian dishes and I must say that I should have managed my expectations. The food tasted ok, but the presentation could be improved. The same for their Saigon Mule, ok, but served in a plain glass.

Es ist lecker, aber ich empfehle es nicht während den Hauptzeiten. Selbst wenn es leer ist wird man zwischen Menschen an engen Tischen gequetscht wo man sich nicht mal unterhalten kann wegen der Lautstärke. Wenn man fragt ob man sich woanders hinsetzen kann wird es immer verneint.
