Chay Veganrestaurant in Hamburg

As soon as you entered, you were taken in by the cozy and warm atmosphere and greeted by the friendly and attentive service. The food was extremely tasty, fresh and beautifully prepared, there was a large selection. We were very satisfied and would always come back!

I found it very nice and cozy there and the food was delicious. In addition, the service was very nice and the food arrived very, very quickly.

OMG EAT THE GOLDEN CUBES. I tried to copy it, but I couldn't do it. I love the golden cubes. Real. The visit was good, everything was clean, tasty and pleasant. But these golden cubes! 🤩

The crunchy rolls were really good! Unfortunately, the main course wasn't as convincing as the sushi. It was pretty average for a good restaurant, no wow factor. Since we loved the sushi so much, we will definitely come back!

Well, aaaabut something has changed...The food used to be better! It's still good, but the dishes don't taste like they used to...My "ceviche" wasn't a ceviche but just a small salad...different chef? New owner? What is it about?

Mega tasty and fresh. Super loud when full. Waiters hardly cared and only came when called. But food was really good.

Small shop with delicious meat-free dishes. The tables are very close together so it can get a little louder. The portions are large and sufficient. The Spring Bowl is highly recommended, as is the Lemonade. Highly recommended 🥟🍜🥗

It was amazing good even no meat ;) . I have tried so many Vegan restaurant with Vegan Spring Roll but "Chay" was the best of the best 🙂🙂🙂 the location was great too. The staffs are very friendly. 100% I will come back.

Delicious and great food and everything vegan - a dream ✨️ We were thrilled with the entire menu and for the first time couldn't decide. Our choice then fell on two starters and two bowls and we weren't disappointed 🤗 Well prepared and very tasty, the waiting time was very short until the starters arrived and the main courses also came quickly 🙂 The only drawback was that it was a bit noisy due to the large room and the open kitchen, but that didn't detract from the food and we are still thrilled and recommend it to all people who like to eat vegan and would like to have a large selection 😁

A top-notch Vietnamese restaurant. The fried tofu with chili-mayo sauce as a starter is delicious! As a main course, the Spring bowl is hearty and very, very good. I recommend!

Came here for the first time to celebrate a birthday. The food was delicious, the service and atmosphere were great. But it was a shame when we were overcharged by 25 euros. The fact that we drank 2 cocktails each and don't know the language doesn't mean we should be cheated. There was no real apology. But at least thank you for the delicious food. Even if it was an accident, I don't want to sit and count everything myself in case someone makes a mistake. I just want to eat and relax. I'm not sure I'll come back. But thank you for having a vegan Asian restaurant, that's really cool 👍🔥🌱

Very nice and friendly staff at restaurant. Service is very fast. Atmosphere is so cozy. I ordered two different starters, rolling and dumplings. Both of them was fried and crunchy. Inside filling vegetables were delicious. But only it was a little bit oily for me. Desert: Bananacake with rice wasn’t sweet. I don’t know if it supposed to be sweet. But I expected banana little bit sweeter. Also ordered Bluetiful homemade lemonade. If you like cocomilk taste then you will like it. Personally I didnt like it. Not my taste. Prices are okay for a restaurant like this. It was worth to try. Maybe another time I will go and try other food in menü. 2 starters, 1 lemonade, 1 desserts costed 20 euro.

Tolle Auswahl an Vor- und Hauptspeisen. Wir waren mit fünf Personen ( 2 Vegetarier ) in diesem Restaurant. Die Reservierung per Telefon hat gut funktioniert. Das Restaurant gegen 19:30 an einem Samstag voll besetzt. Das Essen war hervorragend. Das Restaurant ist sehr schön eingerichtet und gemütlich.

We were here for the first time by chance. The dishes were very tasty, served quickly, and the service was friendly and unobtrusive. Card payment was possible. The drinks (homemade lemonade) were also delicious.

Good ambience, decent choice of dishes on the menu. The vegetables in our food were very undercooked. The staff couldn't care less about the customers. We were 2 people visiting when restaurant was around 30% full. We sat on a table for 4, and they rudely told us to sit at a table made for only 2 people, which was in a congested place. The waiter was on her phone for a lot of time, and I had to almost shout for her to take our order.

Unfortunately it wasn't what we imagined. Ginger Team has little taste... The food could have had more spices. There are better vegan restaurants in town. Atmosphere of the restaurant is very loud and not edible. Price performance doesn't match

Very nice interiors, quick service and amazing selection of options in the Mittagskarte. I had Maracuja schorle and Buddha bowl. They did not have chilli oil but they offer unlimited sriracha and soja sauce. They only accept card over 20€.

Delicious food with fresh ingredients and a nice ambience - as a vegan shop in a central location, Chay Veganrestaurant was worth a visit.

Simply recommended. Rarely eaten so well - whether vegan, vegetarian or with meat. I was at Chay with my wife and we absolutely loved it. Simply great for the eye and taste! In addition, a fresh, modern atmosphere and very friendly and quick service. After a few months I came back to Hamburg from southern Germany and was looking forward to the Chay again. PS: I'm not even a vegetarian...

One of my favorite restaurants. Very unique and high quality dishes. There are only 4 points because the portions have become much smaller over the years. One main course is not enough to fill you up.

Favorite restaurant of all! Will forever remain in my favorites and is my must-have when I'm in Hamburg. Great food, be sure to try the starters too.

Ordered Buddha Roll, Wonton Soup, No.14 (I forgot the name, anyway it's Udon Noodles) and Monk Soup. All in all it was 40€. Wonton soup is highly recommended. The udon were a bit too spicy and "oily" for my mother. The monk soup, which is basically pho, was very tasty. You'll definitely be full!

Simply great! I chose Happy Samosa (dumplings filled with vegetables and soybeans, roasted sesame, soy sauce) and it was very tasty. Great ambience and very friendly service. I'll come back the next time I visit Hamburg.

Not only the food, but also the service and the ambience are excellent. I have already been able to convince many “non-vegans” that giving up meat, fish and dairy products does not mean giving up taste pleasure. In the evening you can even park perfectly in front of the door for free and dogs are welcome.

I was there with my friends without a reservation, we were immediately greeted in a friendly manner and got a table. The service was super nice and the food and drink were really excellent. We got the food and drink within a few minutes, but still didn't feel pressured. The prices are more than fair and we would like to come back. 🥰

We were there on a Saturday evening. A table can easily be reserved by phone the evening before. It was still nice and warm, so we were able to sit at one of the two small outside tables on the less busy street. Very fast and friendly service. The two of us had three starters: edamame, salad, summer rolls. Then I had BBQ King for my main course. The food was consistently very tasty. The ambience is nice. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I can only recommend it and would go back at any time. 23€/person including drinks.

I actually really enjoy eating there. Unfortunately, when I sat down recently, I was asked whether I had any cash with me, which I found to be intrusive and unfriendly to the guests. At the entrance you are informed that card payments are only possible from 20 euros. I then paid in cash, but couldn't help but ask myself why payments of less than 20 euros were not permitted even with a Girocard. Answer: none, ostentatious silence. Extremely rude. The fact is that, as far as I know, minimum payment amounts for debit card payments are not permitted by law. That's why I ate there for the last time. Too bad.

I work at Lieferando and had to pick up an order from this restaurant. Why does the waiter at this restaurant address us as if he were our boss? Since there was no one at the door, I went into the kitchen. Then a waiter came and immediately said “wait outside”. Since I parked the car on the street, I wanted to take the order and leave as soon as it was ready. “Is the order ready?” I asked. Instead of answering, he said “wait outside” again. I've been working at Lieferando for about 4 years, but I've never seen such a rude waiter.

Absolutely delicious food and great and kind staff. The jasmine-lime icetea was perfect in its sweetness, the summerrolls were fresh, the monksoup balanced, the spring blossom tea beautiful and the mochi icecream just soooo good. I kept on ordering things since it was just so tasty. A perfect place for a good meal close enough to the station if you are only around for a few hours.

We got a mega delicious vegan surprise at Chay Vegan restaurant in a small side street 😋🥇🍜🍚🌱 Even a meat eater like me must admit that Lemongrass Rainbow and Golden Bowl made me forget about meat and enjoy the intense taste (also strong! 🌶️😅 ) with lots of freshly prepared vegetables 🍲🍜😀 with rice 👍 Asparagus, broccoli, pea pods, carrots, lemongrass and tofu fillets were really tasty - and seasoned with a considerable amount of chili 💪👏 I drank a glass of mango juice with the meal - and its taste was fresh and fruity 🥭 In the end we surrendered to dessert - mochi ice cream with lemon flavor and warm fried sesame ball 🍧 we completely forgot to take pictures of that dessert - because the taste was completely from another world 👏😌 and the fruit taste was just delicious, cold and fresh ❄️🍋 Thank you so much for the food 🏆😋

Essen OK, aber Service mies. Reservierter & zugesicherter Tisch war dann doch besetzt. Fast kalten Reis zu servieren, ist schon schlecht, dann aber diesen - nachdem man um eine Aufwärmung gebeten hat - nach 30 Sekunden wieder genau so lauwarm auf den Tisch zu stellen, das ist schon dreist. Service auch langsam und unzuverlässig. Es steht nichts auf dem Tisch, kein Salz, kein Pfeffer, erst recht keine asiatischen Gewürze - wie überall üblich. Alles muss einzeln bestellt werden. Bestellungen werden vergessen und müssen 2 bis 3-mal bestellt werden.

There were three of us at Chay and we got a place straight away without a reservation. The restaurant is very nicely decorated, but all the metal didn't suit us. The service was OK, but it could have been a little more attentive. I found it very good that you pay at the checkout at the front, so you can go when you want and don't have to wait for service. There are many vegan dishes on the menu. The special menu and the main menu had a great selection. We had vegan udon noodles and vegan ramen and both were extremely tasty and there was more than enough quantity. We'd love to come back.

I do NOT eat vegan. Nevertheless, I have to say I'm just thrilled with the food! Ambience and staff is also good. I paid €80 for 8 dishes and 3 drinks for two people. So completely ok. We recommend!!

A great experience in this restaurant: we were two people and ordered 4 tapas + a roll of 8 pieces of sushi (not featured in the photos). Everything was quite tasty. The staff is very nice, and the place looks awesome. Only detail is: minimum expend to pay by card is €20 (it didn't affect us, but might be annoying for other people).

The drinks were also very tasty and beautifully presented. The decoration also fits, so if I lived in Hamburg I would come every week. I recommend the udon noodles. Number 18 I think.

So glad to have found a purely vegan restaurant near the train station. The lunch was delicious and the homemade iced tea was super refreshing. We're now going to the Taylor Swift concert feeling refreshed and looking forward to coming back here ☺️

Nice decoration, very compact. We didn't like the food. It wasn't tasty and certainly not healthy. We had two main courses. Both were stir-fried vegetables. Once in a sweet and sour sauce (it wasn't announced on the menu) and once in teriyaki sauce. Both tasted like ready-made sauce. The sweet and sour was so sweet that I couldn't eat it. The good reviews are incomprehensible to me.

As a starter we had: the green roll, the happy samosa and the chrunchy roll 1. Everything was really delicious and perfectly seasoned. For the main course we had the Monk Soup and the Pagoda Dream. The soup could have been a little stronger for me. The Pagoda Dream was a dream, super deliciously seasoned. To drink we had the jasmine-lime iced tea, which was also very tasty and was somewhat reminiscent of a not so sweet bubble tea. The portions are a bit smaller so you can easily order one or more starters. The service is very friendly and accommodating. You are served quickly and you are constantly asked whether everything is OK or whether you would like anything else. Thank you for the great food. 😍

It's very good in a very pleasant atmosphere, and at a very reasonable price. However, be careful not to look too much like you've finished eating, or your plate could be taken away! (It was a misunderstanding, I was almost finished and I couldn't say anything: I was paralyzed.)

I can definitely recommend the Chay Vegan Restaurant. The service is really great (friendly, attentive and very, very fast despite rush hour) and so much vegan selection is absolutely fantastic. All the dishes we tried were very good, although the portion sizes (especially for the desserts) were rather small. The “Magic Blue Iced Tea” tasted a little too intensely of jasmine (somehow soap-like) to us and the Monk Soup could have used a little more spice, but of course these are just subjective impressions. The ambience is solid and relatively quiet, although you wouldn't expect that from the layout of the room. We would come back 🪿

German-style Asian. No flavour in the food. Not enough protein. But nice that it's vegan. I asked for tapwater, got a vague reply about not having that, and in the end they gave me tapwater and charged 3,50 for it

If you're looking for exceptionally delicious vegan Asian food, you've come to the right place. You immediately feel at home in the lovingly furnished restaurant with very friendly staff.

Nice place, with nice and quiet atmosphere. Asian vegan food really good. What i really didn't like is a glue trap to kill mice inside the resturant. Actually we saw i little cute mouse eating crumbs on the floor. When we asked the waiter why in a vegan resturant they don't use a non lethal cage instead he just said "it's german culture". As a vegan and animal activist I will never go there anymore.

We can really only give 5 stars in all respects. The service was great and the food was a dream! Rarely have I looked forward to every bite of the side dish as much as I did with this meal! A 10 out of 10.

Unfortunately, I have to change my initial 5-star review :-(. My last visit was anything but nice: Although there were hardly any guests there, they were processed hectically and simple special requests (without rice, with a side salad) were rejected on principle (" That's not possible!" - "But you have salad on the menu and the rice would be separate anyway, so you can leave it out?" - "No, that's not possible.") It's a shame! I won't be back come.

We can only rave about our stay at Chay. The atmosphere was modern and lovingly furnished, the team is very friendly and quick and every dish was an absolute highlight - including the drinks. Everything had an intense taste and yet was very cleverly seasoned. Since we don't come from Hamburg, we will miss it, so a big recommendation from us. Everyone should try this once!
