A true highlight! The moment you step inside, you feel the cozy yet special atmosphere – lovingly decorated with a wonderful eye for detail. The menu is exciting and offers a diverse selection that piques your curiosity. Every dish was absolutely delicious – you can taste the quality of the ingredients and the passion in their preparation. A particularly nice touch: the owners' heartfelt story, which you can read, adds a personal touch to the visit and makes the experience even more special. While the prices are a bit higher, they are absolutely justified by the quality and the overall experience. As a convenient bonus, there is free parking right in front of the restaurant – very pleasant. A thoroughly enjoyable visit – we would definitely come back!

This place is a truly lovely little slice of Malaysia, and every visit feels like a warm welcome back. The owner is not only incredibly kind but also deeply passionate about the food they serve—it's clear they enjoy sharing the experience just as much as the customers enjoy having it. That personal touch adds something special you don’t find everywhere. I’ve been here many times, and not once have I left disappointed. The consistency is remarkable: every dish arrives beautifully prepared, bursting with authentic Malaysian flavours that feel like a genuine “flavour bomb.” From the rich spices to the perfectly balanced sauces, the food is always memorable and satisfying. The service is impeccable—friendly, attentive, and genuinely caring without ever feeling overwhelming. Whether it’s your first visit or your tenth, you’re treated with the same warmth and enthusiasm. Overall, it’s an amazing experience from start to finish. If you’re looking for vibrant, flavour-packed dishes and a place that makes you feel right at home, this spot is an absolute must-visit.

There were four of us, and we had the Kenduri menu. What's special about this menu is that it consists of many different dishes, all served at once, including dessert. The table was groaning under the weight of all the plates and bowls. And everything was incredibly delicious. The rendang, the shrimp, the chicken, the cabbage—one explosion of flavor after another. We also enjoyed a bite of the puff pastry or chutney now and then to balance the spiciness. And we had a Mai Tai, which was world-class here. The service, as always, was very attentive and friendly. A thoroughly enjoyable evening at one of our absolute favorite restaurants in Munich. Thank you!

Wow! What a culinary experience that was yesterday! I'd been wanting to try Champor for a while, and I can only say it was worth it. As a huge fan and connoisseur of Asian food, I was truly surprised, because the journey was a world of flavors from India to Bali, Thailand, and so much more. The crispy pepper-crusted squid, the beef salad, and the chili wontons (which were seriously spicy) came with roti and dipping sauce as appetizers. Then, for the main course, the Malaysian chicken in peanut sauce with coconut rice (the tiny pieces of crispy green beans were amazing!). It was divine! Every dish was perfectly balanced, superbly seasoned, and harmonious. It was quite busy, so everything took a little longer than expected, but the service team's incredible friendliness, the beautiful lighting, decor, tableware, and fantastic selection of drinks, including cocktails, wine, and an exceptional selection of Bavarian beers, made it all worthwhile. Finally, we were offered a complimentary digestif, and there was even some chicken left over, which we were able to take home in a lovely box. Admittedly, the cost is higher than in a fancy restaurant, like a Thai one, but so is the experience! Bottom line: Bring lots of friends or family, order as much as you can, and share. Thank you, we're still thrilled and will definitely be back.

Scrolling over Instagram reels and drooling over scrumptious food made me hungry and I had to have food at Champor.I stayed in Singapore for two years as a master's student in aerospace engineering and visited Kuala Lumpur and Penang during this time.i received a reservation on a short notice, grabbed a Uber and reached the place on time. The welcome was just right.Concise and warm. The decor is awesome and the outside tables even better. I was handed over the menu with the specials first and immediately one name caught my Attention "THE RENDANG".Rendang is a spice explosion that culinary masters face like a dare and always Malaysian aunties rule.Immediately asked for the Chicken Rendang .Barely 20-25 minutes wait ,I was served the aroma intense Rendang, spot on with the spice.Every ingredient was spot on ,the Chicken slowly cookes and beautifully tender. An aromatherapy of lemongrass, garlic, ginger, cinnamon ,cardamom ,coconut followed.to add more depth, the roti canai. It was splendid . The dessert was a play with hot and cold mango sago with icecream. My icecream scoop loved to roll itself in the mango sago pool.Maybe a different spoon like a dessert spoon would have eased the eating experience here. The hot and cold boundaries were vividly felt .my suggestion would have been to use a coconut jelly or a coconut milk pannacotta. The dense butterscotch icecream was a deviation from the traditional route. The prices are slightly steep and this is a special occasion situation.Highly recommend a visit solely for the roti and the chicken Rendang.Yet to explore more options.Looking forward.

Kiren gave us great recommendations on what to order. As a fellow Malaysian, I enjoyed the dishes which were as authentic as can be in Munich due to different local ingredients found here, like the orh chien (oyster omelette) which was substituted with mussels but worked really well. Reservations: Unfortunately, it was only possible to make reservations until or after 8 p.m. This was understandable given the apparently high demand for this restaurant. So, on the day of the reservation, I called again briefly and asked if we could come earlier, at 7 p.m. or 7:30 p.m. This was declined rather rudely. Assuming the restaurant was fully booked, we were very surprised when we arrived at 7:55 p.m. to a restaurant that was only 40% full. You can't expect an early reservation several weeks in advance, I accept that, but on the day itself? Ambience: The location of the restaurant is—well—like the Italian restaurant next door. Nothing special. The interior is very cramped, uninspiringly furnished, and uninviting. We were offered two tables as an option in the almost empty restaurant. Service: The servers (we had four different ones in total) were all friendly. The main server was enthusiastic, but also more concerned with speed when ordering. The highly advertised advice was rather poor, as it mostly focused on the spiciness. We like spicy food, but were still irritated that the supposedly milder dish was significantly hotter than the other. Was the spices used incorrectly? In the spirit of a restaurant visit where I'm served the best aperitifs (quote) I would at least expect to have time to drink them. The first appetizer came BEFORE the aperitif. The second appetizer came after the first appetizer had already been eaten. This is completely unacceptable. The wine also arrived at the same time as the aperitif (about a minute after the aperitif). During our meal, we were also moved around the restaurant, even though it wasn't full. Payment is made at the counter, like in a snack bar. Drinks: The best aperitifs (quote) were completely normal drinks, including gin and tonics. Everything was fine, but perhaps they should advertise a little less when offering standard fare. I think Malaysian cuisine, in particular, could be more creative. The food: As you can tell from the host's feedback, he only wants feedback on the food, because that's what matters. Perhaps so, but the rest also makes a big difference in an experience. The chili wontons were freshly prepared, but unfortunately a bit lukewarm. The sauce was very reminiscent of the sweet chili sauce from the large 1-liter bottle. The roti bread was very tasty, but I find €4 for a mini flatbread a bit cheeky (more on the prices later). The main courses, Caramelized Beef & Crispy Sesame Chili Chicken, were pretty average. The chicken was nicely spiced, but the beef was unfortunately very tough and much too sweet for our taste. The waitress said it's best to mix the dishes. Really? Sounds like a buffet where all the food is mixed together on the plate. We didn't order dessert because, firstly, the quality was truly disappointing. The food was very uninspired, and the craftsmanship was mediocre at best. Furthermore, we were informed at 9:08 PM (!!!) that we had exactly 7 minutes to order dessert. The kitchen would then close. Value for money: The food is okay, but I've had better quality food on what feels like every other street corner in Berlin for 1/3 the price. And I could also list numerous restaurants in Munich that are both cheaper but, above all, serve significantly better food. Conclusion: We won't be returning. For almost €200 for two (including a bottle of wine), I expect considerably more. To the host: less hubris regarding the cuisine would be recommended. If the prices and service are still good, the restaurant deserves a second chance. But definitely never again :-)

We enjoyed a wonderful and authentic Malaysian meal at Champor. After reserving by phone, we arrived to a full and cozy space with evocative decor and photos. The owner Kiren guided us through menu choices, starting with an assortment of starters accompanied by fresh-from-the-oven bread; the salt and pepper squid was a standout. We moved on happily to entrees ranging from fish-and-prawns mixed in a delicious sauce, chicken curry, and a plate of purple rice, beef, and vegetables which we mixed together. We asked for spicy and the kitchen delivered — always in service of the food. Beer wine and cocktails - our group chose across this range of drink options and they all complemented the food nicely. Coconut balls, a street-stall style pancake; and mango pudding rounded out the meal. Kiren was a delightful host throughout and the rest of the staff provided flawless service. We’ll be back!

A visit that was simply disappointing - never again! I have rarely felt so uncomfortable and unwelcome in a restaurant. As soon as we entered, the atmosphere was frosty - the waitress was extremely unfriendly, kept looking at us with a derogatory look, no smile, no warmth. You had the feeling you were just being a nuisance. The boss? A huge ego and incapable of criticism at all! If you have any doubts about this, just read their responses to critical Google reviews - that says it all. Instead of hospitality, there is arrogance and condescending looks when, when asked if everything is right, you honestly say no and give reasons. Unfortunately, the food didn't convince us either. Some dishes didn't taste authentic at all, for example the caramelized beef was tough and difficult to chew. For the high prices we expected much more - culinary and human. And the worst: No goodbye, no thank you, not even when paying - we just left without a word. This restaurant is absolutely not recommended, especially for families with children. Child-friendly is a foreign word here. One thing is certain for us: we will definitely not be coming back.

Nice restaurant, but prices are consistently very high. The food was delicious, but at €30 for a main course I would have expected it to be a little more than just meat with some caramelized sauce and two leaves of cabbage. Here are a few excerpts of the prices The roti cost per piece! €3.90 1 liter of tap water €6, beer over €6 Extra rice almost 5€ (To Champor's answer: 1. the review was written by the three of us together 2. We didn't want the dip, asking persistently 4 times and almost forcing me to order it is unprofessional and rude) 3. no idea to what extent our job is relevant..)

Having lived in Switzerland for nearly a decade, I’m more than familiar with high dining prices. Still, the pricing at Champor in Munich felt surprisingly steep—even by Swiss standards. We arrived very early for dinner last Saturday, so it was quite disappointing to be told that many of the dishes on the menu were already unavailable due to a lack of ingredients. It’s one thing to run out of items toward the end of service—but at the very start? It gave the impression of poor preparation and a disregard for guests’ expectations. With our choices significantly reduced, the Malaysian owner strongly encouraged us to try the Mamak Goreng—a dish not even listed on the menu. For context, Mamak Goreng is a well-loved but extremely simple Malaysian street food, typically found at roadside stalls for just a few ringgit. The version served to us had very modest ingredients, a small portion of beef, and was far from elaborate—yet to our surprise, it was later billed at €36, identical to the most expensive dish we had ordered that night. As it wasn’t listed anywhere, she had evidently decided to “tip” the price to match the highest figure on our bill. We only caught this because the most expensive item had been charged twice, despite us ordering it just once. Whether this was a mistake or not, the impression left was far from flattering. What made the entire experience feel even more opportunistic was the setup of the restaurant itself. Located about 15 minutes outside Munich’s city centre, the space is fitted with an unusually high number of tightly arranged tables—clearly maximising seating at the expense of comfort. My friend, in fact, had to bring their own baby chair because the restaurant couldn’t provide one. And yet, the establishment is displayed as a fine dining venue. Don’t get me wrong—the interior is fairly decent—but the overall layout, lack of baby chairs, and the owner’s overly assertive sales approach didn’t align at all with the experience one expects from fine dining. After we had placed one order per person (four adults and a baby), the owner insisted we order one or two more dishes “to share.” Considering the already limited options and the pricing ambiguity, it felt more like a hard sell than genuine hospitality. While the owner undoubtedly takes pride in her roots, the overall experience at Champor was unbalanced—marked by poor preparation, questionable pricing practices, and a clear focus on maximising profit rather than offering an honest, guest-centred dining experience. If you’re in search of authentic Malaysian cuisine and happen to be in Zürich, I wholeheartedly recommend Ah Fatt Restaurant. The food is exceptional, the prices are slightly lower than Champor’s, and the overall experience is refreshingly sincere and well-curated—especially for a location right in the heart of Zurich.

The food is generally ok but the prices are incredibly expensive… Very far from the center and yet such high prices. And be careful, menus are offered that are not on the menu (Mamak Goreng) and then end up on the bill at the highest price. By the way, I visit Malaysia every year and know the food well. It's a shame, the atmosphere is really nice.

I try to rate as honestly as possible, we came to the restaurant and had a reservation! They immediately made it possible and made his table by the window possible! The service was great and the atmosphere was great. The owner was very friendly and accommodating! What just doesn't add up for me is the already very expensive prices and then, when you want to take something with you, they put a cardboard box on the table and you then charge for it! So in summary, really good food and good service, but unfortunately I still think it's too expensive! I don't think it's possible to charge extra for the takeaway box and just put it on the table! Nevertheless, thank you for the great evening and the delicious food!

We were there as a group of 6 people. We really liked it. Dishes were excellent! We ate starters and main courses and offered them for everyone to share. This meant we were able to try out the entire menu. For me all the dishes were really very good! In hindsight, there would probably have been 4 starters and main courses for the six of us. Very friendly and communicative staff. We'd love to come back!

Main dishes are pretty basic for ~30€ each dish. Especially as they serve pretty small portions

Yesterday I spent a very nice evening with my girlfriend at Champor. We felt very comfortable there from the start as we were warmly welcomed. Since it was our first visit, we sought advice on ordering the food. The service was excellent. We had two starters and two main courses. Everything was really excellent and we enjoyed it very much. You can tell that the dishes are prepared with great attention to detail and of good quality. We'll definitely be back soon! 😊

10 out of 10!!!! Everything we had was delivered with care and passion - the spices were perfectly balanced, the presentation was wonderful - have the lady suggests you what to order based on your preferences. We did and she helped us choose what would have worked best. And it absolutely did!! We will be back!!

Champor in Munich is a great spot for authentic Malaysian food with bold flavors and fresh ingredients. We love their prawn and fish curry. They’ve got some good vegan options too, which is a nice bonus. Prices are a bit on the higher side, but the food is totally worth it. The friendly service and cozy vibe make it a great place to eat.

I just read a review and pretty sad that people use the platform of google reviews the wrong way. Navigating on finding information to your restaurant is pretty easy. Not sure how to do so call the restaurant simple as that. I love restaurants that stand up for themselves so good job. Keep up the good work and many blessings to Champor and to your loyal customers. Ps. Reading some of the good reviews and some that people do not read about allergens or kids running around restaurant is truly funny not sure why people do not read or think before posting or asking. Want a place for kids to run around take them to kid restaurant like McDonalds or Monkey Joes not where other adults who want peace and a quiet dinner. Once again good for you and team on standing up for values you hold dear. This is would not be acceptable with kids running around in USA restaurant either.

I came exactly one hour before closing time, and regret the kitchen is already close (can't accept new order). I don't blame them, but at least put the information in the google map. ---- Update: I was simply suggesting that it would be helpful to include kitchen closing hours in the Google Business Description so that customers checking Google Maps can see it easily. I did not intend to harm the business in any way, just providing feedback to for future visitors. Cheers

The food was very, very tasty and very attractively prepared. Thank you very much for this. The service was very friendly and helpful. I was a bit irritated by the constant switching between German and English. But that wasn't serious. :) Unfortunately I have to deduct a star for the quantity, as it wasn't at all filling - maybe just put a little more on the plate for over 30 euros :) And one point deducted because it is not suitable for children. Unfortunately there was neither a high chair nor anything to eat that was suitable for children. Highly recommended for Valentine's Day or special evenings :)

As a fellow malaysian, getting food that reminds me of home was undeniably difficult more so in Germany. But when we heard of Champor, we couldn't help but take our chances over there. First off, the staff especially the owner herself who happened to be a fellow penangite, was very friendly and helpful to us both. She even suggested portions of the food that was deemed suitable for us, which was extremely helpful so as to give us some ideas before ordering. We had roti canai banjir, and ayam percik. The roti canai banjir was savoury, and the curry was perfectly done, really tasted like a homemade curry. The ayam percik was very flavorful, and something that I would personally recommend if you're going there. Perhaps order an extra portion of rice as the rice portion can be small for certain people I suppose. We ended it with a dessert pulut biru with kaya topping (not sure if this was in the menu), but I absolutely love this one as I'm a kaya fan myself. My wife didn't enjoy it as much but that's just a matter of preference. Overall, food was amazing, staff were nice, and would definitely return to try something else!

After long journey, I was craving for a home made cook and got a recommendation to go to champor, wasn’t expecting so high as my friend and i was really tired as well as dragging a bags for our trip. Turned out the food tastes just as a perfect home cook and don’t let me start on the service, it was outstanding. As south east asian origin, i really recommend to take the ayam percik and for those who likes a prawn taste as i do, i also recommend to take the belacan fried rice.

There is really exceptionally good food here! Yes, it is Asian and therefore generally known, but the nuances in the taste are really great! I was there to celebrate my farewell from Munich. And that was a really nice farewell! What better way to start a new life than with fantastic food :) The service team is very attentive and very, very friendly! Yes, it's not cheap, but the quality of the food is worth every penny. You don't do something like that every day and that's why the prices are absolutely right! So if you want to enjoy really special Asian food, then this is your place :) Chapeau Kiren, you have created a very extraordinary place here!

We spontaneously got a table outside (very nice by the small park) and received a super friendly welcome. The food was also very good, and the menu also offers vegetarian options. The wines were excellent, absolutely great value for money, and the service was simply amazing! It's just a shame we don't live in Munich 😉

Breakfast was good and plentiful, but the service – as on our last visit – was completely overwhelmed. She constantly had to ask for our order, and the coffee was lukewarm to cold by the time it finally arrived. Paying took forever because she couldn't figure out her machine. In the end, one item remained unpaid, and we, a party of eight, had to dictate all our orders and what we had paid to her again. Even then, she couldn't manage it. After much calculation and back and forth, she said the open drink was on the house. After we left, she complained to the manager that we hadn't paid everything. Fortunately, this was resolved with the manager. Bottom line: eight regular customers lost.
