Cengiz Karatas Döner Kebap Haus in Frankfurt am Main

This is a classic, old-school doner kebab. The taste has been consistent for years. The sauce is amazing. I still don't know how they do it.

Unfortunately, it's not what it used to be... limp, rubbery meat kept warm in a stainless steel can is considered fresh meat... and when you ask, they don't cut it fresh, you can only have the warmed-up stuff or nothing... speechless. Maybe they should change their clothes and wash themselves.

UPDATE: Went there again today and ordered number 42, ate it in. I don't know how to describe it... New, smaller trays, and the portion was so tiny I could hardly believe it. 95% fries and a very small amount of meat, less than 50 grams. I've never in my life gotten such a small portion of food for €10. NEVER AGAIN! Unfriendly and expensive, expensive, expensive! What happened to this place??? I used to enjoy eating here (about 15-18 years ago). The employees look like they work in a pigsty, their clothes are so dirty. Four people are working behind the counter; I don't think "the machine" is cutting the meat without sweat. The owner is standing at the slot machine, but that was the case even back then. They serve stale bread with the doner plate. The meat is kept warm in a container, and as soon as it's on the plate two minutes later, it's cold. They're stuffed to the brim, so they don't bother to prepare it properly. Not recommended.

It used to be better, even one of the best in Frankfurt! The service couldn't be worse. More like a salad wrap than a doner kebab for €8.50!!! I have no idea how long the meat has been sitting in a warming box after being sliced??? The "doner" is the size of a small napkin; today it even had bones in it!!! No receipt and no card payment accepted!

That's a real shame, it used to be my favorite doner kebab in Frankfurt, but it's gone downhill. I felt like I'd only eaten bread and salad. You couldn't taste the meat at all.

The best thing was when I washed my hands when I got my doner kebab, which was placed on the table WITHOUT A PLATE, just wrapped in aluminum foil, with part of the meat on the table.!!! REALLY UNHYGIENIC. A friend ordered a doner kebab plate that was 70% salad and had very little meat. It was the same with my doner kebab. The owners are probably so full that they don't care. And at the end, when we paid, the change was thrown onto the counter, which was truly disrespectful. They probably did that because they didn't get a tip. There's no tip for bad service, period.!!!!

Now every second time I eat there, the fries are not cooked through properly on the inside. I also had meat that wasn't cooked properly. A kebab plate with fries costs €12, but the portions are smaller. The price is no longer justified given the quality of the food. The time between visits there has been getting longer and longer for me over the past year and today was definitely the last time I got food there. The store won't get another chance from me.

Food is great: kebab bread crunchy, juicy vegetables, good meat that wasn't fried until crispy and the sauce dominated too much. Positive surprise at the Falafel Dürüm, delicious. However, you didn't feel very welcome, overall it was sparsely equipped and after your visit you smell of kebab. There's also a plus point for the cool fire animation on the TVs.

I've always enjoyed eating there, but... I won't pay 10 euros for a lahmacun, out of principle! The prices have risen by around 80 percent recently!!! and I don't think that's okay. WE ARE AT DÖNER, not just any Michelin!! If several people had done what I did, we would get to normal prices very quickly! That's a disgrace!

Then far too little lettuce, what am I saying, absolutely dry iceberg lettuce without anything, no tomatoes or spices, a few onion rings, but no dressing, no salt or pepper or herbs. First of all, what they call kebab meat there - I haven't eaten kebab meat like this in years! Apparently I bought a ready-made skewer - totally dry, completely tasteless, but bursting with flavor enhancers - DISGUSTING! Sauce on top - (was called that, but isn't because it lacks everything that makes a sauce, It was just yogurt without anything, even without taste, but with garlic, which didn't taste fresh either. The best and tastiest kebab in the Kalbach/Bonames/Nieder-Eschbach area. The meat is always fresh and very tasty. The prices have gone up recently but are worth the kebab or kebab plate. Parking is only possible on the side street to the cemetery, directly at the playground. On weekends or holidays you can also park in the school parking lot, but everything is at your own risk.

But for an 8 euro kebab (!) in Bonames, customers could have been given the choice on the spot whether they wanted meat fresh from the spit or from a can of no idea when. Die Nr. 1 seit Jahren für uns. Nach einem langen Tag gönne ich mir hier gerne einen Döner und es ist jedes Mal ein kulinarisches Erlebnis (ohne Übertreibung). Von mir und vieler meiner Freunde ist dieser Dönerladen die ungeschlagene Nr. 1 wenn es um einen saftigen Gute-Laune-Döner geht der geschmacklich nicht zu toppen ist. Das Personal ist sehr herzlich obwohl es manchmal stressig ist hinter der Theke. Ich empfehle den klassischen Döner mit Allem bei Bedarf mit dem salzigen Weichkäse (wers mag) und einem kalten Ayran. Vorsicht für Anfänger - der Döner macht echt süchtig!
