Located in a fantastic place, Abtei Rommersdorf and Orangerie, can take a really relax walk before or after foods. We came for lunch in working days, very quiet and not many people, enjoyed a Harmonie talk and foods. Employees are friendly and helpful👍 Ordered warm Vorspeise set for two persons and also the grill plate, I have to say, it is too much, even enough for 4 persons. But pity that in the Vorspeise set there is no fried seafoods. In the grill plate, Rumpsteaks are perfect, but Döner meat are relatively dry and hard.

We sat on the terrace in beautiful weather with a wonderful view of the Probstei garden - very relaxed ;-) The service was very attentive and warm, and the food was simply delicious! We finished our hike here with four friends, and it felt like a vacation back home ;-) If you have children, they can run around in the garden and pass the time by playing tag or hide-and-seek, which also contributes to the relaxed atmosphere ;-))) The restaurant is very popular, so make a reservation early!

There were four of us, and we waited a long time for our food. The restaurant was full, but we had asked beforehand if this would cause any problems (which was denied). Unfortunately, the service was completely lacking, and the noise level was too loud. Therefore, a pleasant meal was impossible.

After reading an article in the local press and looking at the restaurant's reviews, our expectations for this visit were quite high. We found it somewhat disconcerting that, like in some Michelin-starred restaurants, we were assigned a 90-minute time slot. However, the elaborately designed menu on glossy paper certainly didn't reflect this. The dishes listed there didn't stand out from those of other Greek restaurants. On the contrary, the lamb platter contained very dry, inedible pieces of meat, and the French fries also deserved more professional attention. The appetizer selection was nothing more than the usual. Even the ouzo, advertised on the menu (with a photo of a frost-covered glass), was almost at room temperature. The setting is idyllic, and the table service was very attentive. We agree with some of the enthusiastic reviews. We felt rather unwelcome when we were asked rather rudely what we wanted upon entering. Conclusion: We won't be making the trip to this restaurant again. We can find typical Greek food everywhere nearby.

Unfortunately, I don't understand the many positive reviews. In my opinion, the Cavo Doro in Neuwied can't compete with the new restaurant in Ransbach, either in terms of food or service. Many people compare the new location to the old one, but the one in Ransbach is better in every way. The quality of the food there is significantly higher, and the service is also much friendlier and more attentive. It's a shame, because I expected more here.

The food has remained delicious even after the move. The two of us love sharing just one main course and a few appetizers. It's always fresh, there's a large selection, and it's delicious. The Orangery also has a lovely ambiance, and you can sit on the terrace and look out into the beautiful garden. The service is always super friendly. We'll be back.

We were always highly satisfied regular customers at Ransbach, if only because of the friendly and smart service, the delicious food, and the pleasant atmosphere. This was our first visit to the new location. The food was still very good, albeit slightly different. Unfortunately, the smart waitress wasn't there. However, the waitress that evening was also very attentive. The atmosphere, however, was abysmal. The two of us had the absolute razor's edge and the middle of the two rows of tables – a terrible spot. Overall, the restaurant was far too loud. The waitresses often didn't understand anything; it was a question, and everyone at the neighboring tables got even louder over time. Very uncomfortable, and therefore, unfortunately, our last visit :(

The Cavo Doro moved its location from Ransbach-Baumbach to Rommersdorf Abbey in Neuwied on April 19, 2025. Everything is now on one level with a terrace that sits directly above the abbey's well-kept park. Since there are fewer seats available compared to the restaurant in Ransbach-Baumbach, a reservation is recommended. Food, drinks and service are as perfect as we have been used to for years. We wish the innkeepers a good start. They couldn't have found a nicer ambience for their restaurant.

One thing you have to say to the team, everything was really great. The food was truly breathtaking. The portion was mega! My first time and I will come again and again. The owner and the bartender are a great team. The cocktails why great. Always so beautiful please! Waiters are great!

The meat was very tasty and not too dry. Very juicy and of good quality. The dessert was a dream, really a pleasure. Then we tried another cocktail and it was more than convincing. Nicely served and decorated, great atmosphere. Music is great at a pleasant volume, the super nice owner sometimes comes to the table and asks if everything is ok. Nice service team, which of course still needs some practice, but they try to take all wishes into account. Service leaves a lot to be desired, no one asks if you would like to order anything else. The service staff prefer to spend their time chatting with obvious acquaintances who are guests. The table wasn't cleared for ages after dinner. And this despite the fact that the restaurant was not very busy. The food is mediocre and nothing special. Portions manageable. The prices are not justified.

Absolutely anti-dog! We often go out to eat, but I've never experienced anything like this! I had my 3 kilo Yorkshire Terrier with me and the daughter of the house told us in a rather unfriendly way that there were customers who were allergic and this was against her rule?! Today, after a visit to the Montabaur Outlet, we spontaneously went to the Cavo Doro restaurant. Although not reserved and busy, we were immediately given a table for two. We were welcomed very friendly and served as well. We had the Athens and Karistos grill plates. The food was very tasty, well seasoned and everything tasted very fresh. Absolutely recommended. We'd love to come back.

We came here spontaneously after a shopping tour and didn't have a table reservation at the best time and when it was very busy. We were asked to be patient for a few minutes and they already had a comfortable place for us. The service was great, everyone was super nice, friendly, attentive and quick. But that was surpassed by the food itself. My husband had a grill plate, I had pork fillet in metaxa sauce with croquettes (if desired) and tomato rice. All an absolute pleasure! We have tried many Greek restaurants over the last 10 years but this is by far the best! We would love to come back ❤️

Pleasant Greek restaurant on the edge of Ransbach-Baumbach, which despite the z. Due to construction work currently taking place in the city, it is easily accessible, especially with a navigation system. We had reserved a table in advance and were able to sit down outside. The waitress was at the table quickly and brought the drinks after a short time and at the same time took the order for the food. This came in a reasonable time. All in all, we were very satisfied and will come back here at the next opportunity.

So one star is still too many. You call and reserve a table for two (which is no problem according to the boss), then you come there and after you are asked if you have reserved and give your name, you are looked at with wide eyes, as if you had “not reserved”. At this point you should optimize yourself, as this is not the first time this has happened! And you are left standing at the entrance for 7 minutes before you get a table. You should run your shop a little more organized, which was definitely not the case yesterday. After a lot of waiting, we were told that the colleague would be coming soon and would assign us a table upstairs. This colleague came and was just about to go up with us when another colleague came down, there was a short chat and suddenly the table behind us (on (draughty entrance) was quickly cleaned and told that we could take a seat, where we noted that we had been asked and wanted to go upstairs, the service staff rolled their eyes, so that's a no-go per se and not customer-oriented! We left on the spot because I don't have to go out to eat somewhere where customer service is tolerated due to miserable staff. We then went to the Olympia in Dernbach, we were welcomed very nicely and the food was great. All I can say is that the Cavo Doro had better previous owners (who also had great staff). As I said, I won't be entering this store again, even though many people say the food is so great, it's an average Greek, nothing more, nothing less. @Thomas J. Schneider: if you had read my review correctly, you would have been able to see that I made a reservation in that sense... and when I'm supposed to be shown a place upstairs and suddenly it's not, but next to the entrance door, that's telling that of a lack of planning...and an eye roll from a service employee towards a guest (who is after all paying their salary) is disrespectful. So please read everything a little more carefully next time before you mention “cavo doro” countless times in your review, perhaps at your favorite place, the table right by the entrance door…

Just perfect. We've been there many times, over and over again. Like a few hours of vacation.

First of all: The food was very tasty. Unfortunately, the female waiter didn't give the impression that she enjoyed her job or dealing with guests. If that doesn't bother you, you'll get your money's worth culinary here.

Prices are relatively high, but they are okay because you really have a real “restaurant experience”. The service is really very good, he is very friendly and doesn't ask too often or too rarely. The whole place is nice and in good condition, the ambience is absolutely above average. Also definitely suitable for upscale occasions. But the most important thing is of course the food. As I said, the prices are one thing, but that's not so bad because the portions are really big and it tastes super delicious! I'm sure everyone knows that they charge a lot of money but one portion is hardly enough and there's nothing else that can convince them, so you don't like going there. But it tastes great here, I ate the best gyros and souvlaki I've ever had here. The tzatziki was also 10/10 delicious! I also thought I would test what is served to me here when I order tomato soup. But it was also very tasty and most likely homemade, nice with a little cream and parsley but the soup also has a super strong, fresh, unique taste with several levels. It was definitely not a finished product. Oh and the garlic bread to put in! Crispy, delicious baguette slices (8x), lightly toasted, with garlic, tomato pieces and herbs. Splendid! The only thing that is average here are the fries. They're not bad, but they're not outstanding either. But that's not why you go to a restaurant like this. I can only recommend everyone to go to the restaurant, it's worth an hour's drive!

Very tasty food, very friendly service, great ambience and plenty of parking spaces in front of the door. Price-performance ratio tip top. Only the side salad should be more Greek (coleslaw), but that is a matter of taste. We give it a 100% recommendation. 💯💯💯 I also like to give a generous tip if you have a successful restaurant visit.

The parking spaces are directly in front of the building. The restaurant is always busy, especially on weekends.
