Delicious tapas, relaxed atmosphere, friendly service.

The food was fantastic, and the individual tapas portions were generously sized. I loved the rosemary potatoes with aioli and the house Cava. The staff were very attentive and friendly. Castillo is the best Spanish restaurant in town!

The food we ordered was of very good quality. The service staff was very polite and customer-oriented. The price-performance ratio was excellent.

Food with authentic Spanish flavor. The papas arrugadas are even better than those from the Canary Islands, and the burger has top-notch ingredients. Antonia welcomed us warmly and served us in perfect Spanish. 10 out of 10

We received attentive and excellent service and thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The terrace, with its colorful autumn leaves, is a real eye-catcher and can be used even in wet weather (with some minor restrictions). We also felt very comfortable inside with our five guests. We will recommend it to others and will return ourselves.

I think waitresses should be a little better trained. Being a waitress is more than just smiling and chatting with customers.

Nice restaurant, but the boss's communication was unprofessional and lacking in distance. When we asked in a normally friendly way whether it was possible to get the pulled pork burger we ordered with pulled pork rather than the whole piece, it wasn't possible (there must have been a misunderstanding on the menu) – okay, no problem for us. Then the boss came over and patted one of us on the shoulder during a business meeting. "Guys, what's the problem?!" He leaned very close, and repeatedly accused us of being nitpicky, staring unpleasantly at us. At the end of this unnecessary intervention, he followed with a disparaging grin. "Well, we've settled that, hehe." - You wouldn't want to know what their communication style with employees might be like, when customers are subjected to strange attempts at intimidation in response to normal questions... - Too bad, because otherwise the location is nice, the food is good, and the service from the employees was really very good, relaxed, and friendly.

We celebrated our wedding at Castillo with 30 people, and what David and his team put together was completely to our satisfaction! Beautiful ambiance, excellent food, and very friendly and competent service – we highly recommend this venue, not only for a pleasant evening, but also for celebrations in a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. It's an excellent address in Freiburg!

Beautifully located on a quiet street, with idyllic tables on the terrace or by the street. The tapas are delicious (perhaps the best bacon-wrapped dates!), but not consistently authentic... Salad with salad dressing blends in with the tapas...

The first time i came here was 2 months ago. The paella was pretty good. Bu this time it was not very tasty. The fish taste used to be present with each bite, but this time it was not and it was extremely salty. We also ordered aioli and it was also very salty.

What a wonderful evening! We sat outside and luxuriated in the mild weather and starry night. The food was a dream, especially the artichoke salad and lots of vegan, great wine and music. Manu Chao always goes and fits in well. Our service was courteous and personable. Our conversations became deeper and deeper. People laughed, cried, and made friends with strangers. I said I love you for the first time. This is what a normal Saturday should look like.

Wir waren zu Mehreren Abends dort zum Essen verabredet . Das Servicepersonal ist unglaublich nett und freundlich , aber die Massen an Kunden wurden nicht bewältigt . Unser Getränke kamen "endlich" nach 35 Minuten fast zeitgleich mit unserem Essen , während der Nachbartisch mit uns die Getränke bekam , aber erst 1 Stunde später das bestellte Essen . Insgesamt war trotz lauten Geräusch/Gesprächspegel von fast allen Tischen Unzufriedenheit zu Hören , weil das Ein oder Andere einfach so lange auf sich warten lies . Das Essen war OK - ich würde sagen Preis-Leistung stimmte , bei den Getränken hatte man beim Bestellen das Gefühl , dass die Preise sind fair , aber als die Cocktails in sehr kleine Gläser kamen -- relativierte sich das .

From the friendly service to the delicious and authentic Spanish cuisine to the cozy Mediterranean atmosphere on the terrace, everything is just right in the Castillo. It's a shame that we were already so full and happy, otherwise we would have tried some of the desserts too. ;) We were your guests for the first and definitely not the last time! :)

The service was outstanding! Lara was incredibly attentive, and everything we ordered seemed to arrive immediately. The food was delicious and the portions were generous! The atmosphere outside was also wonderful. We'll definitely be back!

Sensational tapas, friendly service, great restaurant. We prefer to eat outside. It's also very comfortable inside, but a bit too loud for my taste. Actually, measures against this would be relatively easy to take.

We called ahead to see if the kitchen was still open. Even though the kitchen had long since closed, we were still served very tasty tapas. By the way, these were very cleverly seasoned with numerous different herbs. Many thanks to the boss and his team!

I had the opportunity to visit El Castillo restaurant and I absolutely loved it, The paella was simply outstanding, a real treat for the palate. A big compliment to the chef for his great work; every bite was a real taste experience. Additionally, the atmosphere of the restaurant and the excellent service from the staff made my visit even more special. While reuniting with a friend, I was able to enjoy an unforgettable meal. I will definitely come back, muchas gracias for this great service and wonderful experience!

Food was not really nice. The tortilla came with a lot of cheese on top....the sepia was ok but the rest (mushrooms, pimientos de padron, patatas bravas...) not so good unfortunately. Everything was really oily. The 1 star is for the waitress she has been really nice!

We can't praise the Castillo enough. We were there on the last, very busy Saturday evening. The service people were very busy, but remained friendly and quick throughout. The food itself: simply great, every single portion of tapas was perfectly balanced, the red wine was appropriate... Great evening, thank you!

We had a very nice dinner at the Castle! As a Spaniard I felt at home, all the food was delicious, especially the mushrooms and potatoes. And the quality-price ratio is very good. It is the best tapas restaurant in Freiburg 👍

Service and ambience was ok. Unfortunately the food is really bad and completely overpriced. The Sepia a la plancha were a few completely overcooked squid rings in a sauce for €14!. A few prawns al ajillo, also in sauce instead of olive oil, for 14.- I don't know what's supposed to be Spanish about that. I have rarely eaten so badly and spent €40 on just myself with two drinks. Never again

The food is great. You can eat really well here. Very tasty tapas. It's quite noisy when it's busy and the store is often full, but I still recommend this store because of the food and the friendly staff.

Ich war enttäuscht als ich das letzte Mal da war. Das Essen war lieblos zubereitet aber knackig im Preis.

Essen war sehr lecker. Preislich eher teuer, wenn man satt werden möchte. Beim Service muss man hinterher sein, sonst muss man lange warten.

Sehr entspannter Abend mit leckerem spanischen Tapas und Gerichten. Sehr freundliche Bedienung und guter Service.

Wir haben sehr lecker hier gegessen. Das Restaurant bietet u.a. eine tolle Auswahl an Tapas. Gerade Vegetarier werden hier einiges finden auf der Karte. Die Weinkarte passt hervorragend zu den Speisen. Die Mitarbeiter sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt und hatten eine wirklich tolle Zeit in diesem Restaurant. Ein Grund wieder nach Freiburg zu fahren. Danke an das Team!

Das Essen war wie gewohnt gut. Da wir öfters ins Castillo kommen schätzen wir die gleichbleibende Qualität der Speisen. Zu meinem Geburtstag wollte ich einen schönen Abend dort verbringen. Heute war jedoch von Gastfreundschaft wenig zu spüren. Der Service war kühl und hat uns lieblos die Teller hingeknallt und die Hauptspeisen gebracht bevor wir die ersten Getränke bekommen haben. Leider war es heute insgesamt eher enttäuschend.

Wir waren zu viert hier, Tisch und Sitzgelegenheit etwas eng, Paella-Pfanne passte gerade auf den Tisch, ich habe schon bessere Paella gegessen, aber das ist sehr subjektiv, das Fleischgericht war eher wenig. Wir kommen wieder und probieren Tapas.
