A unique atmosphere; the light show on the hour makes little sense outside the ship. The food is delicious; despite a large group's chaotic ordering, no one had to wait long for their food. The service is super friendly and attentive.

We were there on a Friday evening. It was a very nice evening. Parking was right next to the restaurant. A very friendly welcome. The service was perfect, very attentive, and friendly. Starters, main courses, and desserts were all delicious. Prices were reasonable. Our meals (for five people) all arrived at the same time (we arrived right at 5 p.m.). The light show was fantastic. We had a wonderful evening.

A definite 5 stars. The restaurant is built into an old pirate ship. You can eat both inside and on deck. It has a fantastic atmosphere. Once an hour, it gets dark, and the theme from Pirates of the Caribbean plays. Add to that the sounds of wind and rain. Even if you're just sitting on wooden benches, it's very cozy. The food itself is also very good, and for the certainly expensive furnishings and ambiance, the prices are reasonable. It's not overpriced. If you want to experience something special with food, you can't miss this restaurant. They also have good vegetarian dishes.

We were there on a Saturday evening with a reservation with a large group of women. It was amazing! A very friendly welcome. Although we were familiar with a different menu from Dortmund, we found great things there too and tried everything. We had two children with us who got their food first. We thought it was very good and child-friendly. The food was consistently great except for my cousin's rice. The service was very friendly, took our criticism into account and quickly found an alternative. Amazing 👍 The atmosphere is simply fantastic. Food 1/10 Service 0/10 Atmosphere 10/10 The ambiance is really cool, and we thought the special effects were fitting 👍 Unfortunately, we had to keep calling for our attention because the waiter kept forgetting about us. The food was lukewarm and took two minutes to arrive at our table. Personally, that's not a sign of quality in a fresh kitchen. Afterwards, we had to send something back because they forgot the side dish. Conclusion: You can go, but if you can, go somewhere else.

In short: Carlos in Schwerte is definitely worth a visit for its special ambiance and excellent food. Unfortunately, the service significantly spoiled our experience. Detailed review: Carlos is truly something special. The building is designed like a ship, and music like the "Pirates of the Caribbean" theme song and thunderstorm effects create a truly wonderful pirate atmosphere. For that, I give it a clear 10 out of 10. The food was also solid and delicious – a solid 8 out of 10 for me. However, the service was a bit off. Even during the main courses, it was difficult to reorder drinks – the glasses remained empty for over an hour. It was particularly disappointing that we asked for service three times to order dessert, but no one took our order. And this despite the fact that the restaurant was far from full at that point. Some dishes were cleared away, but only half of them, so the overall impression was very inattentive. Unfortunately, this only gets a 1 out of 10. Conclusion: The ambiance and food are truly enjoyable and worth the effort. If the service team consistently pays attention to all guests, Carlos could be a real highlight in Schwerte.

Delicious food and great service! It was really busy on our last visit, but our order still arrived at our table in only 10-15 minutes. We were so pleased again. A highlight, of course, is the music and light show in between.

Four people were there and paid just under 120 euros. Everyone was full. The atmosphere was fantastic; we had seats in the boat, cool seats. I had a chicken hamburger, among other things, but it wasn't that tasty, and it was lukewarm. My brother's was the same. I thought the fries were too small. The service was super friendly.

The location is unique. From the outside, everything looks like a "normal" restaurant. However, once you enter, you're immersed in another world. You're standing in front of a giant ship. It's truly amazing to sit up there. The hourly "shows" are also fantastic. The food is delicious, and the children's menu is beautifully presented. If we lived nearby, we would definitely come here more often. Highly recommended.

We were here on a Saturday. Despite plenty of parking, it was a bit difficult to find a spot. The restaurant, while completely unassuming from the outside, reveals its full ambiance the moment you step through the door. The food was good and delicious. The friendly staff made every effort to serve it as quickly as possible. The restaurant was completely booked that day. We waited 45 minutes for our food. However, the time passed relatively quickly thanks to the great location and good conversations with friends. I would definitely eat here again.

So, something special for a long time. Our son (5 years old) was very enthusiastic. My wife had fish, even though she's not a fan. And I had chicken wings. My wife really enjoyed them, and I have to say, every time I order chicken wings somewhere, I get the ones I can buy myself at Lidl or somewhere else. But not at Carlos. They looked really good and tasted really good, too. I would have loved to eat another two or three of them. The churros for dessert were amazing. I'd even say that even the Pepsi in a glass tasted better than at home ;-). Super friendly staff I personally think the atmosphere with the ship is fantastic. If I/we are in the area again, we will definitely stop by again. I would even give it another one or two stars.

The restaurant is incredibly beautiful and has a unique atmosphere. The dining area is essentially on or inside a ship that's set up within the restaurant. The lights go out every hour, and there's music and thunder, creating a special atmosphere. The food is truly delicious and of good quality. The menu generally focuses on meat and fish, but vegetarians can also find something to eat. The staff is truly super friendly, and we were served quickly, but there were a few misunderstandings when ordering. Many allergens are listed on the menu, but unfortunately not all. This made us feel uneasy because it was sometimes unclear whether certain allergens were present or whether they had been forgotten. Upon request, they were able to help us, but sometimes we had to ask the kitchen first. If the menu can be improved in this regard, it will be perfect.

Without exaggeration, the restaurant is highly recommended. Upon entering, the ambiance will make your eyes pop. The food is incredibly delicious and beautifully presented. This was the best restaurant in a long time. From the outside, it looks like a completely normal restaurant, but inside, you're immediately blown away. It's amazing. There's a ship in the middle of the room. Everything's made of wood. The show with music from Pirates of the Caribbean was simply amazing for all ages. The food was excellent. We're thrilled. The food (various tapas and meat skewers) was incredibly delicious. We were there with four adults and two children. There was something for the kids to color, and the "typical" kids' menu (nuggets and fries) was beautifully presented – even on skewers :), along with sweets. Plus, there's a little musical show every hour on the hour. Great :) The only minor criticism: the service was a bit slow.

We went to Carlos with the family today. The service was great. Very friendly and accommodating. The menu recommendations were very good. We sat upstairs on the boat. It was quite empty during our visit (on a Sunday). The food was really good. A bit too spicy and fatty for our taste, but that's a matter of taste. The vegetarian dishes were also very tasty. The appetizers, main course, drinks, and dessert were all delicious. The price/performance ratio was good. A slightly different kind of restaurant. Definitely worth a visit.

The ambiance is great and the food tastes very good. Unfortunately, the portions are extremely small, and the wait for the main courses is very long. After two hours, you'll unfortunately still go home hungry.

We ate at Calos for the first time today. From the outside, the restaurant looks unassuming, but when you step inside, it has an unbeatable wow factor. The ambiance—the wooden boat—and the music are fantastic. We were very impressed with the food, and the price/performance ratio is also reasonable. The service staff could come to our table more often to ask if everything is okay or if we'd like something to drink. That's why we're giving it 4.5 stars. But otherwise, our expectations were met. We'd be happy to come back. 🤗

Today (July 26, 2025), I was sitting there as a cyclist around 9:10 p.m., soaking wet from the rain, but still thirsty and hungry, and I was waiting in the beer garden. Within 10 minutes, at least six (!) different service employees walked past me without asking if I wanted to order or had already ordered – and that at prices that represent a certain level of quality – that's absolutely unacceptable! And the beer garden was at most 30% full (just a group of about 15 young people and a few individual guests), so overcrowding wasn't possible – at least for professionals. I then got back on my bike (they apparently didn't want my money) and continued on, and was actually served courteously elsewhere.

The place is amazing! This applies to the food, the incredibly great crew, and especially the ambiance. Highly recommended.

If you're looking for an exceptional ambiance, this is the place! With great details, excellent, hard-working service, and the perfect food! The food was so well-timed that we didn't have to wait long! We were thrilled and would gladly return!

A great pirate atmosphere with a little show every hour. The ship itself in the restaurant creates a special atmosphere. The staff was very friendly, quick, and attentive. On top of that, the food is delicious, with a nice selection; the piri-piri spice gives it a special touch. The chicken and potato chips were the best I've ever eaten. The bread with the garlic dip was also very tasty. The meat skewers are also highly recommended. The quantity, price, and quality are all excellent. The desserts are also outstanding; the strawberry tiramisu was delicious, and there are also Portuguese desserts like paste de nata and churros.

I was there for the first time today and I'm absolutely thrilled. The location is unbeatable, the food is top quality, and the prices are really reasonable. I'd especially like to highlight the service. It's rare to have such an attentive and friendly server at your table. Huge praise! Eating together here is a real pleasure, and I'll definitely be back.

Hello, I'd like to report on our experience today. The receptionist, the lady, was very friendly. The two gentlemen behind the counter, and our waitress at the table, were also very friendly. The ambiance is simply fantastic, and every hour there was a side dish with lightning and Pirates of the Caribbean music. The lights went out. Really well done. The food, well, unfortunately, wasn't so good. We had a skewer that was very pulled through with tendons. The side dishes only arrived after we asked for them. By then, the meat was already cold. The stuffed grilled peppers were frozen jalapeños with peppers and batter. Just like we can buy them in the store, but the price-performance ratio was way over the top for two pieces. And it didn't match the instructions the waitress had given us. If we'd known that beforehand, we wouldn't have ordered it, because she said they were stuffed and grilled. No, definitely not, they came from the deep fryer. Cold on the outside, still slightly warm on the inside. The salad was okay, the olives were delicious. We were then asked if everything was okay, and I said, "Well, yeah." He quickly added, "I'll pass this on," before I even finished speaking. Anyway, it was a nice experience, at least as far as the location goes. But we won't be eating there again, especially since we had to travel 80 kilometers. Well, sometimes you just have to be honest.

The Carlos Restaurant captivates me with its unique pirate-themed ambiance and lovingly designed atmosphere. Ten of us were there, and the atmosphere was great with different areas like a bar, lounge, restaurant, and beer garden. Super friendly staff across the board. We'd be happy to go again.

I'll start with the most important thing: The staff. Super caring and understanding, everyone was incredibly kind, considerate, accommodating, and incredibly personable. And just to let you know, my companions and I don't eat meat, which is why they had a very good selection of vegetarian and seafood dishes for us! Then the ambiance, which was AMAZING! Wow, like in the Pirates of the Caribbean movie, as if you were there in person. It was just like a movie experience, really. Even with sound effects and live effects on the ship, simply awesome. You have to experience it once to understand what I mean. The food was simply incredible, I ordered the rice with seafood (it's also called rice with prawns, I only found out after I embarrassed myself and said that I "didn't order rice with prawns, but rice with seafood"). So if anyone orders that (which was incredibly delicious, wow, I was shocked) then remember that the rice with prawns is the same as rice with seafood😂 In any case, everything was a solid 100/10, we'll definitely be back, that's for sure🙏🏻 the sun is shining tomorrow, I'm looking forward to seeing you again!🌞💗

Not just a restaurant, but a true experience! The caravel is a real highlight here, serving not just as a decoration but also contributing to the atmosphere. The rest of the decor completes the look, which one would expect from the colonial power of Portugal. The service team is always on the ball. Everyone works together, and even when everything is full, no one seems stressed and is always interested in the well-being of the guests. Of course, the food is no less impressive. There is a well-stocked menu that isn't too long and offers many specialties. The four of us combined various appetizers with three meat skewers. Everything was very well prepared. A special tip, although not Portuguese: the hot cookie with vanilla ice cream for dessert. Overall, not only was the food delicious and well-done, but it also created a culinary memory! We'll definitely be back again.

The atmosphere is truly fantastic. The food was delicious and the service friendly. Unfortunately, the parking situation isn't great, but we can handle it. The volume got very loud twice during the evening, which we couldn't quite tell whether it was someone's birthday or something. Unfortunately, it was impossible to have a conversation while the music was playing.

As expected, a really great atmosphere. The food was OK but nothing special. We would have even gladly returned because of the great atmosphere. If it hadn't been for the cheeky waiter who asked us when we ordered whether we wanted bread with aioli. Normally, something like that is served on the house as a gesture. In this case, however, it came at a hefty price of €3 for the bread and €4 for the aioli. For me, it's not about the money. It's more about a cheap attempt to get a little extra money out of the customer. So, unfortunately, this will be my first and last visit.

Unfortunately, the food was completely overseasoned and oversalted. The main course skewers were completely out of proportion with the price (neither quality (cartilage) nor quantity). The ribs were dry and tough. Because of the spices and salt, I couldn't even taste what was meat or what was vegetable... The bread was actually delicious. So was the garlic mayo...

Everything was excellent and super delicious. Highly recommended.

Based on a friend's recommendation, we made the 80km drive to Schwerte. We were not disappointed and are absolutely thrilled! 😁 The meal was truly an event. When you stand in front of this replica galley in the restaurant, you're truly blown away. It really blows you away. The food was incredibly delicious. There were four of us, and we had just about every tapas on the table. My absolute highlight was the Piri Piri chicken with potato skin chips and Piri mayonnaise. Absolutely delicious. 😋 We'll definitely be back! 👍

Sensationell! Wir waren heute zum ersten Mal bei Carlos und können die negativen Bewertungen nicht nachvollziehen. Der Service war überaus freundlich, schnell und nichts war zu viel. Trotzdem war immer noch Zeit für nette Worte. Das Essen war von Vorspeise bis Hauptgericht mega lecker. Und sehr reichlich. Da wird jeder satt. Des warmen Wetters geschuldet war es heute nicht voll, aber gut besucht. Die Preise sind absolut gerechtfertigt und für unsere Begriffe sehr human. Man merkt, dass das gesamte Team mit Herzblut dabei ist, um dem Gast einen besonderen Aufenthalt zu bieten. Vielen Dank für die netten Gespräche mit Frau „Carlos“ und ihrem Mann. Wir werden ganz bald wiederkommen.
