Something different ambience with great effelts and mega delicious food

Price/performance ratio fits. Ambiance is special. However, the service stopped working halfway through the meal. Unfortunately we didn't get any more drinks.

Special setting with great service.

The food was delicious, but unfortunately I had to wait too long for a side dish even though the main course was already there. Service staff is friendly. Clearing dishes and glasses didn't work at all. There were still plates of starters left even though we had already eaten desserts. Was only cleared away when we left. Restaurant was not full at the time. Several tables were still free.

Great food, especially the ambience with a seaworthy look, would be happy again.

The ambience is amazing, really well done. The food is hardly inferior. Only the service wasn't that impressive, at least today, and unfortunately marred the otherwise great experience. As a suggestion for improvement, I would like to see real beer mugs and the music should be adapted to the ambience, then it would be almost perfect. Hopefully the service today was just an exception, it seemed to work better around that, it can happen sometimes - but it shouldn't happen too often. At least the service staff were nice and friendly.

We had dinner with my family. The food was great, 5 stars ⭐️. However, the waitress who served us was unmotivated and showed clear inattention. She walked past our table several times without taking all of the plates, so we barely had any space. When we spoke to her, she didn't respond and ignored us. I felt like we weren't given a warm welcome from their side. Unfortunately there is only one star for the service. The other waiters, however, were very friendly, as was the girl with long hair. It's a shame that a single person leads to such a negative review.

Exciting location! In the middle of the restaurant is the huge wooden ship that dominates everything. After making a reservation by phone, we were able to choose a table. The service was very quick and friendly. I thought the selection of food was great, my wife and I had various meat skewers, plus an interesting starter, everything was very tasty. In the middle of the meal, the whole restaurant went dark and the theme music from “Pirates of the Caribbean” played, along with matching sound effects, very brilliant! Dear ones, I would like to give you honest feedback about last night. We found you through an Instagram Reel. The expectations were high. But unfortunately we were very disappointed. Arrival was gigantic, when you come into your store it's like diving into another world. This has raised expectations even further. Then we came to the table. The waitress put a stack of cutlery down and said I don't know if anyone else is coming. She ordered drinks straight away and everything was fine. Food ordering too. Appetizer: Gambas in garlic: unfortunately with chilli so not edible for me due to a stomach operation. A note on the map would be great! Suckling pig bag: corners were warm. Core very cold. There was a sorry from the kitchen. We hadn't even eaten half of either of them. Even if it was only 4 euros, I would have taken it off the bill. Main course: The restaurant had perhaps 30% occupancy when we were there. Nevertheless, the kitchen didn't manage to send all 4 main courses at the same time. About the main courses: We had the skewer twice with prawns and calamari. Here, too, parts were so spicy that we could hardly eat them. The prawns were 10 minutes past the cooking point so they were hard as stone. Lamb skewer: unfortunately the lamb had already died on the spit a third or fourth time. Very hard and dry. Potato peel chips: unfortunately there was more salt and dry spices than chips. Service and ambience: The service could have improved a lot if she had come to the table more often. The table was full for a long time but glasses were empty. To the ambience. Your location is awesome! But music so loud that you can no longer hold a conversation? Skip music tracks like in the car until your favorite song comes on? That spoils the fun a little. Unfortunately, it was a visit based on the motto: we saw well, we don't need it again.

We were there for the first time yesterday and we will definitely go there again and again. The ambience is incredibly beautiful, the staff is super nice and the food is delicious and plentiful. The perfect Portuguese cuisine. Price performance perfect. We are already looking forward to the next time

We had dinner there last night. The ambience immediately flashes you and we were also impressed by the staff. Everyone was very nice and attentive, both drinks and food were brought to us quickly and safely using a tablet. All dishes were deliciously prepared and looked attractive. We think the price is completely reasonable for today's times and we were happy to leave a tip. My only note is that next time I would like more walnuts on my goat cheese. The waiter charmingly promised me that 😊 So all around a great evening for us.

Schönes Ambiente, aber die Qualität des Essens lässt zu wünschen übrig. Die bestellten 'Kartoffelecken' waren max. 1x1 cm gross und sehr salzig. Der bestellte Ibericospieß liest sich super. Leider war alles (Gemüse und Fleisch) recht schwarz und auch super salzig. Die wenigen Fleischstücke waren auch noch sehr fettig... Sehr schade. Für den Preis ist das nicht akzeptable.

So the ambience was great, the food was all side dishes and the meat wasn't there yet when ordering. The service was sleeping, sorry. The bill hasn't been paid yet and there will soon be discussions... Guys save your money at every Turkish snack it's better.. At 60e for 2 people and go out hungry... Criticism is not accepted because the shop is full.... and without prejudices but rather Turkish-owned and nothing Portuguese.... So I'll eat again As people say, ugh on the outside, ugh on the inside, unfortunately I have to give it at least 1 star, otherwise it won't be worth it

Das Essen war wirklich sehr gut, allerdings muss ich sagen, dass der Service erschreckend schlecht war. Die Beilage zum Hauptgericht wurde bei mir komplett vergessen. Das hat den Abend leider etwas getrübt. Das Ambiente ist ganz nett, aber auch nicht mehr.

Very nice restaurant, went there for the first time today. Were there with 16 people. The drinks came after 10 minutes and the food after 30 minutes. All the dishes tasted good. Recommendation: rib platter According to the waitress, a mixed starter platter could not be made because either every person has to order or no one has to order. The food was really very good and the staff were friendly too. It was a shame that we stood and waited in the entrance area for a long time. Many employees walked past us, but no one felt responsible to greet us. We arrived very late on a Friday (around 9pm), which is probably a bit unusual, so we disrupted the normal processes

The ambience is impressive. We have never visited anything like this. The service attentive and friendly. The main course, meat skewer, was really tasty, but we will forego the starter (vegetarian starter platter) and dessert (dumplings with Nutellat cream and ice cream and strawberry tiramisu) in the future, as we had imagined something different in terms of taste.

We traveled from Frankfurt specifically to see this extraordinary restaurant. You wouldn't expect it from the outside, but the ambience inside is amazing. That's very difficult to top. If the food on offer was on par with the location, I wouldn't be able to stop raving about it. Yes, there are fluctuations within the service. We were already very late. I can look past it. Guys... the food and ambience should be in the same league. I was full, the quantity was absolutely sufficient, but there was still room for improvement in terms of taste. Otherwise great restaurant.

I personally didn't like the restaurant at all. I'm very surprised that the reviews are so good. The food was on the table quickly - that was good. We ordered different skewers, starters, side dishes and also dessert. The food is definitely very boring (little choice), doesn't taste good and is tasteless. The restaurant is also uncomfortable. For me it is by far the worst restaurant.

Absolutely expansive ambience/equipment in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” style. The service was friendly and quick. The map was clear, but had a bit of everything. The quality of the food was mixed for my taste: The lamb skewer is of course an eye-catcher. The spicy sauce is not homemade, but goes well with the meat. The crab dumplings and cod were a bit disappointing as they were fried in fat. We didn't get the coffee that we wanted to have on the terrace because there was no service there anymore. All in all, an event location with drawbacks.

It really is absolutely worth a visit. Please ask if “Pirates of the Caribbean” is being played. It's absolutely mega. If there is no day menu on your table, ask for one, it's worth it.

The waiter was very friendly and nice, but we had to wait a long time between courses until we were served again. The heat there was unbearable. The price/performance ratio was underground. E.g. about 10 dry slices of bread with a little garlic cream - 7 euros. In other restaurants this is a free appetizer. The food was okay but far too small for the price. I had more plates than food. The ambience is unique, only marred by the unbearable heat. There is nothing on offer for children other than the scenery. It's really just the scenery - nothing more. It's not worth going again for us.

Well, I don't know for the life of me why some stupid people here complain to Carlos about the food. There is no such thing as cool - everything fits here. And such a mega service team, the girls are flying up and down the stairs... my respect. It's a great restaurant with that special something, super and I'd love to come back!!!

When you come into the restaurant you can see the mighty ship that was built there. You can sit on the deck of the ship and on the sides (bottom and top). The chairs are reasonably comfortable. The very friendly staff comes quickly and takes the order. The food is super tasty and sufficient. We were able to get over the fact that the coffee machine was broken that evening. We were definitely not there for the last time. But always reserve a table in advance, otherwise you could be out of luck.

Das Restaurant Carlos in Schwerte hat uns wirklich begeistert. Wir waren anfangs skeptisch, da die Bilder auf der Homepage bei weitem nicht wiedergeben, wie beeindruckend das Ambiente tatsächlich ist. Mit drei Generationen, von 20 bis 82 Jahren, fühlten wir uns dort rundum wohl. Die Speisekarte bietet für jeden Geschmack etwas Leckeres. Besonders die Vorspeisen, die wir gerne teilen, haben es uns angetan. Diesmal hatten wir sieben oder acht verschiedene in der Tischmitte, und jede war grandios. Man sitzt wirklich toll und der nette Service sowie das gemütliche Seefahrer-Ambiente rundeten den Abend perfekt ab. Die Sangria ist klasse und der Vinho Verde aus dem Steingutbecher einfach mega. Bestimmt nicht der authentischste Portugiese, aber durchdachte Systemgastronomie und im Gesamtpaket top! Ein großartiger Ort für ein gelungenes Familienessen!

We really loved the Carlos restaurant in Schwerte. We were skeptical at first because the pictures on the homepage don't really reflect how impressive the ambience actually is. With three generations, from 20 to 82 years old, we felt completely at home there. The menu offers something delicious for every taste. We particularly liked the starters, which we like to share. This time we had seven or eight different ones in the middle of the table, and each one was terrific. The seating is really great and the friendly service and the cozy seafaring atmosphere rounded off the evening perfectly. The sangria is great and the vinho verde from the stoneware cup is simply amazing. Definitely not the most authentic Portuguese, but well thought-out system catering and a great overall package! A great place for a successful family meal!

Food was forgotten, it was impossible to eat together! The waiter didn't listen to anything we said and didn't respond. The individual guest doesn't count. Mass instead of class! After we had to wait over an hour for the food, the skewer was missing... we waited another 30 minutes for it! The wait wasn't even worth it, the meat wasn't cooked through. Not again!

The atmosphere was really great, it's impressive how much effort went into it. The entrance area was very cozy. We had a table with benches, if you plan to visit the restaurant with older guests, you should note that you get a table with chairs. The selection of drinks was okay, the white house wine was good. We had a vegetarian appetizer platter, the one with meat was sold out. I had the lamb skewer. There are no side dishes served, you have to order them separately. For dessert I had the chocolate cake with a liquid center. To eat. The starters were really nothing special, the price was steep. Even the bread with aioli had to be paid for separately. The lamb was way too fatty and tough. I really enjoy eating lamb and this was the worst I've ever eaten. The cake had a great liquid core, otherwise it tasted rather boring. I had the feeling that the food was a mass meal, which probably couldn't be done any other way given the size of the shop. I have to say: the atmosphere is great!! We are happy to spend a lot of money on good food and I am also aware that you also pay for the experience. However, I personally thought the food was too expensive. We paid 60 euros per person here. For a starter that the three of us shared, a main course without any side dishes (we ordered potatoes) and a dessert that wasn't anything special. For drinks I had 1 glass of house wine, water and espresso. Ambience great, service nice, food nothing special, value for money for food not justified in my experience.

A very special restaurant with a large ship, with tables in it, on it and next to it. It characterizes the entire restaurant and is so lovingly designed. A really great atmosphere with which you can inspire people who don't yet know it. The food tastes very good, from fish to meat to vegetarian. Very tasty skewers with a choice of side dishes. And the chocolate volcano for dessert is amazing. The staff is very attentive, friendly and quick. We will be back definitely.

Super nice restaurant, with a ship in the restaurant, exceptional. The highlight is when the lights go out...and pirate music plays with lights. The food is also great... if it weren't for the long waiting times, that's why 1 star would be deducted. There was an hour between starters and main courses and the restaurant wasn't even full that day... Otherwise it is highly recommended

We were there for the first and last time. The food was not good, the meat was very fatty, the potato chips were burnt and all you could taste was dry rosemary. The benches were shaking, and at the end around 22-30 where people were still sitting they simply turned off the lights completely and made the floor dark so that all the guests could leave. I have never experienced anything like it.

“Disappointing evening on the high seas – a failure in terms of service from Carlos” Last Friday evening, we - a group of five people - reserved a table at Restaurant Carlos at 7:30 p.m. Unfortunately, our wish to sit on the deck of the ship could not be fulfilled as there were no seats available when we arrived. Instead, two tables were set up for us in a secluded corner of the upper floor. Despite repeated requests to move us to the deck if available, our request was consistently ignored. The ambience of the restaurant, characterized by its unique ship's hull, was undoubtedly impressive. But even the picturesque setting could not compensate for the increasingly poor quality of service. The first order for drinks and appetizers was taken relatively quickly. After that, however, the service declined significantly: almost 30 minutes passed without anyone taking our order for the main courses or other drinks. After we took the initiative ourselves and drew attention to ourselves with a show of hands, we were assured that "someone would come shortly" - unfortunately this promise was not fulfilled. Another 20 minutes passed without any service. Our second attempt to proactively draw attention to us was also unsuccessful, despite renewed promises of speedy service. After a total of an hour of waiting, during which our patience and hunger were severely tested, we decided to pay the bill for our appetizers and drinks and leave the restaurant. It is unfortunate that a restaurant with such a unique ambience offers such inattentive and disorganized service. This experience was one of the worst I have ever had. I really hope that Carlos' management takes this feedback seriously and makes necessary improvements in the service area to avoid such disappointments in future guests.

From the outside it's a completely normal restaurant... But inside you're standing in front of a whole wooden ship! Wow, I didn't expect that! But crazy! There are tables around the ship as well as inside. Service and food were completely satisfactory! Value for money too!

It can certainly be argued here and there whether everything is really 100% Portuguese. The “Pirates of the Caribbean” player, for example. But that just fits the ambience so well. We were at Carlos for the first time today and apart from the fact that the meat wasn't really warm, I can't say anything negative. It was very tasty and the meat was buttery soft. The ambience is great & the service was also very friendly. We will definitely come back.

Great location with small weaknesses. The inside of the ship is an absolute highlight, we were lucky and got a table on the “upper deck”. Then the hourly “show” with light and sound effects. Really well implemented. But at the same time also a small weakness. Suddenly sitting in almost complete darkness while eating and no longer being able to have a conversation because of the volume is a bit annoying after the third time at the latest. The biggest point of criticism, however, is the organization of the kitchen and the ordering process. It is incomprehensible to me that in a Spanish/Portuguese restaurant it is not possible to order the tapas offered as a main course. This could only be implemented after consultation with the superior by placing a subsequent order shortly before the main courses were served. Due to the at least successful “accommodation” there is only one star deduction. The food was delicious and the portions were sufficient.

The ambience is great, impressive old ship, really beautifully done, with the recurring spectacle a cool experience, especially for children. Unfortunately, the food is too expensive for the quality offered, the meat is mixed and the side dishes are sometimes very oily. The staff responded to the complaint about the meat in a bitchy manner and passed it on to the boss. This came 20 minutes later, very nice, apologized, assured new food within 7 minutes, then waited another 20 minutes.

I was there with my family from Bremen. Because we raved so much. Unfortunately, the reservation that was made two months earlier was not honored. Wish was on the deck, then space under the deck. There was a lolly for consolation. Even the food, as we remembered it, did not reflect what we once got to know. Ambience is still great. SERVICE, we received a menu for 4 people, so it took longer to choose before we got more menus ourselves, they weren't really appetizing... so we were finally able to place our order... as we should have Special thought needs to be given to cleaning the sanitary facilities... cobwebs, broken doors... whether we'll visit CARLOS again is anyone's guess. A pity.

We were there on April 19th. with 4 people for dinner. The menus were stuck together greasy. The prawn skewer with squid. You had to look for the squid. My Iberico skewer was already cold.Very poor quality..Tough. The meat pockets, I have no idea. Goo... zero taste. Paid €160 for the meal. Conclusion: The meal was not worth €80. No further recommendation!

unfortunately VERY bad - after good experiences, we were more than disappointed yesterday: the salad was swimming in oil, the potato wedges were almost raw, the skewers were totally over salted. The very friendly waiter accepted the complaint and came back from the kitchen: He tried the herb butter himself and had to agree that it only tasted of salt and couldn't really be enjoyed with the main courses. It was the same with the potato wedges, which he also recognized as raw. We waited in vain for the hotel to respond... the icing on the cake was when we paid. In fact, everything (a total of around €160) was on the invoice - without any deductions! Even the raw, uneaten potatoes should be paid for. A short but clear “announcement” is required that this position has been eliminated. It's a shame that so little is done to ensure customer satisfaction these days. In the future we will give our money to other restaurants

We had ordered a table for 3 people a week before. When we arrived, out of necessity, we were seated at a table for two. Of course that was very tight. We hardly knew where to put our feet. We kindly asked to get a table for four next door, but they were reserved. 5 minutes later the guests arrived and lo and behold... There were only 3 people. I felt very ripped off then. It took 20 minutes for our drinks to even be absorbed. There were a lot of service staff on site, but somehow it was a complete chaos. We had ordered our food. Unfortunately, not everything came together. A skewer was taken incorrectly when ordering, so it took another 15 minutes. As a ferry, we were allowed to eat the fake skewer for free. Drinks were not requested, we had to call for the waiter. There were also some that were forgotten and we still don't have them to this day. The atmosphere was unique. The meat skewers were great. Very tender meat. But unfortunately you get annoyed by the poor service and that ruins your evening. We also paid quite a bit in addition. For that kind of money I expect a nice evening. We wouldn't come back again.

I visited Carlos for the first time with colleagues on a recommendation. Unfortunately the evening was disappointing regarding the restaurant. Our table was not clean, the vegetable skewers and burgers were lukewarm, the potato wedges were not cooked, the service was inattentive (the table was not completely cleared, the drinks we ordered were brought to another table first). That was definitely my last visit to Carlos.
