Der reservierte Tisch gefiel uns nicht, wir baten um einen der freien Fensterplätze, der Bitte wurde mit der Bemerkung, dort erst eindecken zu müssen, nachgekommen. Die Bedienungen waren bemüht, Wein wurde nicht zur Verkostung angeboten, sondern gleich allen eingeschränkt, das Essen recht gut, aber leider nicht heiss, sondern nur warm. Alles in allem ein 3 + .

Takeaway quality for a lot of money! If you're paying €26.70 for a pork (!) schnitzel with fried potatoes, this schnitzel should taste better than if you made it at home. Unfortunately not the case here. My tip, dear Freischütz: It becomes a really good hunter's sauce if a few other mushrooms are used in addition to cheap mushrooms. A little porcini mushroom powder gives it the right kick. A little more salt wouldn't hurt either ;)

On a nostalgic tour today I used to often come here with my son, back then without an e-bike, but with a bicycle trailer. Beer garden is good. A good destination by bike to grab a drink. There is a climbing park next door and a walk in the forest is also possible.

Really very good cuisine. A real recommendation. The staff was unfortunately inattentive, noticeably stressed, correspondingly snotty and not at all professional. Too bad.

Completely overcrowded, at least on weekends. In the beer garden, expensive coffee in worn-out tin cups. The forest around it is perfect for taking a walk.

On April 26th, 2025 I was in the Freischütz beer garden with my family (6 adults and 3 children). The children had great fun as there was enough variety and entertainment for them. However, I find the price of €2.00 for the use of a ride device too expensive, as we know that children don't want to ride just once. I would have accepted that if everything else had been okay. The food delivery took a full 45 minutes from the time we ordered, even though the beer garden was far from full. Finally the time had come and we could pick up our food. Every dish, absolutely every dish, was cold. Fries, fried potatoes, sausages, everything cold. Since the children and we adults were of course very hungry by now, we didn't let the food go back. When we brought the empty plates back, we expressed our displeasure about the cold food at the serving point. The employee was very obliging and thanked us for our criticism and promised to pay more attention to it next time. So, if you have to ask employees about making sure they serve warm food, something might not be going right. Especially since I was in the beer garden more often two years ago and the food was always to my satisfaction. Warm and delicious. It would be nice if I could enjoy a nice cold drink and a delicious warm meal in the beer garden again.

We were there with a larger group on Saturday lunchtime. Everyone liked it. The food was very good, the service was very attentive and the children had a great time in the playground. The dog was also taken care of. We can only recommend it!

The outdoor area is very nice, the staff at the counter are always very friendly and quick. Free toilet facilities also very clean👍

Right next to the climbing forest in Schwerte, this great beer garden is a must. Playground and rides included, mini golf open on weekends and public holidays. Drinks are expensive, small snacks are affordable.

Don't be confused by the location and what's around it is really beautiful. Everything was really nice but everything was ok The two stars are because of the really high prices. Nothing works on the playground without €2 pieces. Sorry, the slide in the sandpit is free. It's really time-consuming. Food and drink wow. 0.5 Pils just under 6€ Seriously. You can't stay there all day with two children.

Large, lively restaurant with a beer garden and terrace. Large playground for children, mini golf course and a small climbing garden. The forest begins directly behind the restaurant, with a well-marked adventure trail and a BMX bike route. The Kaiserschmarrn in the restaurant was very tasty

A large company with lots of space. However, if the seat is prescribed even though there was plenty of space available and nothing is reserved, then we don't think that's so great.

Exceptional cuisine at reasonable prices. I would particularly like to highlight our service person Angela, who gave us a wonderful evening.

We were at Freischütz for the Carousel menu and ordered the vegan menu. Even though the menu included vegetarian dishes, we were given a completely vegan menu at our request. The food was excellent: creative, tasty vegetable dishes, beautifully presented. The wine pairing was perfect, and the service left nothing to be desired.

Everything is very nice and well done!

Highly recommended for events. The outdoor area is well suited for families with children. The beer garden also invites you to linger.

Snacks are sometimes very expensive

We were there for the menu carousel and really got our money's worth! The menu was absolutely brilliant, the constellations of starters and desserts were really fun and the waiter responsible for us, Ilmi, had a great understanding of the job! Totally recommended!

We were also there as part of the menu carousel, which is still available until the end of March. There is a vegetarian and a meat or fish version. Each course was beautifully presented and very tasty. The accompanying wines were well chosen and complemented the meal perfectly. The service was very quick and attentive. It doesn't get any better. A clear recommendation.

Six of us had dinner at the Waldrestaurant Freischütz. Everyone was enthusiastic about the very good gastronomic performance. The service was super friendly as always. All dishes tasted excellent (fresh cuisine!). The unusual aperitifs (with and without alcohol) should be highlighted. The forest restaurant is highly recommended.

Just to take a quick walk with the family and the children is perfect, the climbing forest is awesome, the prices in the beer garden are a bit higher, but you can keep an eye on the children when they are running around, the only drawback is that the chassis for the children are now €2 per mini ride

Always here for the ADAC youth leaders conference, large conference rooms available, attentive service and good food, it's bearable!!!!👍🏻

With the right group it's definitely a fun affair. But take gloves with you. The handles tear your eyes open. Take a lot 💰 with you, because the drink prices are tough. Otherwise, as already mentioned, you can have fun here with the right group. I play curling, or better stick shooting, as a club in Dortmund and can recommend it as GAUDI.

We had reserved the table in advance. We were served in a friendly and good manner. We enjoyed lunch very much. Leftovers were packed upon request, but the portion was too generous for me.

I have known the Freischütz for 50 years. The ambience has never been so excellent and cozy, the food so excellent and delicious, the staff so friendly and attentive. Currently I would happily recommend the Freischütz!!!

The meat was tough, the sauce too sour, the fried potatoes seemed dried out. The waiter was annoyed/unfriendly. At least the salad was ok, but not enough. Overall not recommended. So next time it's better to go back to Overkamp.

A really recommended restaurant. The food is excellent. The game ragout is absolutely delicious. So delicate. The service staff were all super nice and all of us (16) received our food at the same time.

We were there while we recharged our vehicle. We had a beer at the bar. It was very pleasant. The setting is nice, but I can't judge the restaurant since I haven't eaten there.

Exceptionally good cuisine at reasonable prices. Great service and a cozy upscale atmosphere. We have been to this restaurant several times and would love to come back. The forest mushroom consomme was a poem 👌

We were there for dinner and curling. The food was good, the portions were ok. The bread as a greeting from the kitchen was warm and delicious. Curling was great. Then another nightcap. The Fanta was served with ice cubes, which were removed at my request. As a non-alcoholic cyclist, I was given a small bottle of beer and a half-full glass of Sprite with my meal, which I didn't know before to mix myself.

Very nice place with lots of opportunities for the children and a climbing park. You can sit outside on a large terrace. Also suitable for drinking coffee. We went out to eat, the food was good, the service was very friendly and everything went smoothly. However, there was relatively little going on for a Sunday evening. There are enough parking spaces. I can only recommend the Freischütz for its very good food and events such as curling at the moment.

The big annual feeding of kale is simply a must. I'm already looking forward to 2025

We celebrated our wedding in the fireplace room and were thrilled. The preliminary discussions with Ms. Pascucci were simple and uncomplicated. She accommodated our every request and gave us good advice. On our day the staff were very flexible and did a really great job of service. Thanks to Ali and his colleague! The kitchen served us a dream of food. All guests were thrilled. We had a really great celebration there!

The Freischütz event hall in Schwerte offers a solid location for various events. I was recently a guest here at “The Incredibly Big BINGO Show”. Unfortunately, the event itself wasn't to my taste at all - the evening was heavily focused on alcohol consumption and Schlager or Ballermann music, which I personally don't have much use for. If you like that, you'll definitely get your money's worth here, but for me it was more of a disappointment. However, the location itself was perfectly fine. I would particularly like to highlight the friendly and attentive staff. Our service staff was always there and did a great job. The toilets were also clean, which is not always a given at events. The prices for drinks and food were really fair during the event, which is also a positive thing. For food there was currywurst and pretzels – both typical for such events and absolutely fine. One small point of criticism: Only Pepsi brand soft drinks were offered, which is always a minus point for me personally as I prefer Cola products. Otherwise there was beer from the Stifts brewery as well as various schnapps, cocktails and long drinks, so a solid selection of drinks for the evening. Overall, the Freischütz Event Hall is a decent location with good service and fair prices. Unfortunately, the event itself disappointed me, but you can't blame that on the location.

Nice beer garden, whether after a bike ride or after hiking. You can even bring your own snacks; drinks must be brought from the house. It is also possible to grill yourself; the grill is provided. We always find it very pleasant here and public transport is very easy to get to and from here. Highly recommended!!

Sorry, but what kind of people work here? The guy who oversees all the merry-go-rounds etc. grabbed my daughter (12) in the crotch with the effort of helping her with the belt. After she sincerely asked him to stop, he just snapped at her and looked stupid. He gave me a strange impression the whole time. As long as such people are employed here, I can only recommend avoiding them

I love this place! Lots of things to do for children and for grown ups. The Antique building is worth seeing but also the newly renovated parts. The Biergarten Garten is also great and you can go for walks in the nearby forest.

A great climbing park for young and old. But you shouldn't underestimate it. It can be quite tiring. A nice beer garden next door.

The right place for a family day

Attentive service, very friendly team and a very nice atmosphere. Even though the food tastes good, the portions are too small to fill me up and the price is too high, which is why I have to deduct a star. I understand that prices have increased, but compared to equal competitors it is simply not enough. What bothered me a bit was that one of us only ordered a meatball with sword mustard (4.90 euros) and wanted an extra portion of fries. The waitress suggested changing the order to “meatball with creamed savoy cabbage with sword mustard” and then replacing the creamed savoy cabbage with fries. It later turned out that this change meant a difference of 8 euros, which was absolutely not a good deal for a small portion of fries. Of course I agreed to it, but if something like this happens more often, word might get around. What a shame! I still think that this place is ideal for family celebrations, company parties and weddings. The restaurant is also barrier-free.

We had our company's summer party there. Nice location with a large hall and beer garden. The service and the grill buffet were excellent.

We were here for a lecture. There is plenty of free parking available. In the entrance area you come directly to the counter. A nice lady welcomed us there. After a short orientation we went to the prepared room. It was small, with a screen and about 25 chairs. Unfortunately it got warmer and warmer during the lecture, which the speaker also noticed. Apparently there was no air conditioning. After about 1.5 hours everyone was probably happy to get out. In between we asked for drinks. The lecture was informative. At other temperatures it would have been really nice

Today my son and I went on a short bike ride to the Freischütz. When we got there we went into the beer garden and ordered something to eat and drink at the counter. Payment was made with EC card. When I asked for a receipt, I was given the EC card receipt - but no receipt/invoice with what we paid or no VAT was shown. When I asked whether I could receive a breakdown of my order including VAT, the "nice" lady said that this was not possible - you had to say that in advance. When I asked again that I didn't have to say this, the lady told me I could leave if I didn't like it. After another complaint the restaurant apologized. We didn't get our fries or the deposit (which we probably paid - which I can't understand since I didn't get an invoice/receipt) - so €4.50 was gone. If you go there and eat something, pay attention to what you pay and whether it even goes through the checkout - here it seems that some things are probably booked past the "checkout".

Very popular excursion destination near Dortmund. The directly adjacent Schwerter Forest invites you to take long walks. Afterwards you can eat and drink well. We drive here often on a daily basis.
