Das Restaurant ist sehr farbenfroh gestaltet. Unser Gastwirt kannte sich mit Cocktails und den Speisen gut aus. Seine Art war herzlich, und wir haben uns willkommen und wohl gefühlt. Das Essen war sehr lecker und liebevoll gestaltet. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

The ambience is a matter of taste, the service and the staff are top, but unfortunately the dishes are grossly overpriced, €26.50 for a dry piece of fried chicken is already very steep, surf and turf €40 per person and unfortunately this dish wasn't worth the price either

I would like to inform you that unfortunately I cannot recommend visiting this restaurant. Despite the fact that the restaurant was completely empty when I visited, we were charged for no-shows from our reservation. This was neither transparently communicated nor explained in advance. What's particularly annoying is that if we had ordered the four cheapest dishes on the menu, the bill would have been significantly lower than the total that was ultimately charged for nothing. For me, such an approach is neither customer-friendly nor acceptable. I will therefore share my experience publicly and rate the restaurant accordingly to warn other guests about a similar experience. Best regards,

First of all, a really fun atmosphere with a consistently adhered to concept (ambience, menus, box for the bill, etc.). The food was okay, but in my opinion not really anything special, I would have expected a little more for the price. The service was overall attentive.

A really great restaurant right at the fish market. Great atmosphere thanks to the special decoration. Even better than the ambience, however, is the food. We first had the banana chips as a starter (easily enough for two) and then the Caribbean Dream Grill plate for two as our main course. Two people are more than full and everything was just so delicious. I can highly recommend a visit here! I would also reserve in advance. The only negative thing: It was a bit cold, so it's better to wear something warmer in winter.

The restaurant was recommended to me, apparently we had a bit of bad luck with the food as it was barely seasoned and I kind of expected something different. Nevertheless, the food was delicious and the service was great. The atmosphere is quirky and no matter where you look you always discover something new. You just have to like it, but it's definitely unique. 🙂

I ate at this restaurant on my birthday and unfortunately our experience was anything but positive. As soon as we entered, an employee rudely informed us that we had not responded to the confirmation of the reservation. However, this was the first time that I was asked to make an online reservation, something I have never experienced before in any restaurant. Despite the note that it was a birthday, there were no congratulations or kind words from the staff. Overall we didn't feel welcome and were disappointed with the atmosphere. Unfortunately, based on this experience, we will not visit this restaurant again.

This restaurant will remain in your memory forever and you won't find another with such wonderful seaside ambience and great dishes. A place that is part of a visit to Hamburg for me and even inspired the design of our party cellar.

Wir sind der Tripadvisor-Empfehlung gefolgt und hätten sooo gerne 5+* vergeben für den Standort am Hafen/Fischmarkt, die aussergewöhnliche, bunte farbenfrohe Atmosphäre und originelle Innendeko, die sich über muschelförmige Waschbecken, den Maison-Du-Monde Tellern bis zur Speisekarte durchzieht oder der chilly Bar mit Palmenbeach-Feeling und Latino-Musik. Alles mal super kreativ konzipiert & mit Herzblut gestaltet. Auf der Speisekarte liest sich ein Gericht leckerer als das nächste. Leider völlig enttäuschend im Betrieb: die Preise total überteuert: kein Gericht < 20€, selbst ein Reiscurry für 22€, Wasser 7,50€. Also haben wir uns die Grillplatte für 2 Pers. für 67€ gegönnt - 49 oder 39€ wären max. gerechtfertigt, falls gute Qualität: erst dachten wir, das Essen wäre kalt wg des kalten (!) Serviertellers, aber nein: auch der Reis in Kokosschale bedeckt war nur lauwarm, der Fisch stellenweise warm/eiskalt (= Mikrowelle) und die Garnelen ließen sich nicht von der Schale lösen (Frische?). Und das in direkter Nähe zum Fischmarkt. Lediglich das Gemüse in der Mitte war frisch & heiß. Der Rest paniert und schnell aufgewärmt, Fleisch ok bis zäh. Auch der Cocktail der chilly Bar total lieblos zusammengerührt mit aufgespiesster Gummi-Orangenschale und Zuckerkirsche. Schöne Tische mit grauen Billo-Plastiksets. Wie schade alles! Wir hatten uns so gefreut ob der tollen Fotos und 4,5*-Bewertung: Im Restaurant war es so kalt, dass wir die Winterjacken wieder anzogen und auch der Nachbartisch seine Daunenwesten anbehielt, was der Bedienung wohl nicht auffiel. Wg. LKW-Entladung öffnete der Kellner ständig die Eingangstür, von wo es eiskalt & neblig reinzog. Um 21:30 kühlte auch die einzige Heizung an der Wand aus, das Restaurant schließt ja um 22:00. Die Bedienung war gut gelaunt & nett, aber die Frage „schmeckt‘s?“ eher rhetorisch und so schnell gemurmelt, dass er keine Antwort erwartete. Für einen Sonntag Abend war das Restaurant sehr schlecht besucht mit nur 4 besetzten Tischen (alles keine Hamburger, nur Touris…), die von außen gut sichtbar platziert waren. Restliches Restaurant leer. Wie schade !! Nein, wir würden trotz der schönen Deko, der leckeren Speisekarte und 4,5* Bewertung der letzten 2 Jahre weder wiederkommen noch es empfehlen. Bestenfalls mal ein paar Influencer-Fotos machen und dann weiter. Entweder hatten wir nur einen ganz falschen, lustlosen Küchentag erwischt oder das einst kreative Konzept hat sich in der Umsetzung in 2024 überlebt. Im Betrieb fehlt Frische & das Herzblut, mit dem das Restaurant wohl mal eröffnet wurde oder jmd., der sich dafür interessiert. Die guten Bewertungen der Vorjahre werden so leider schnell runtergehen oder Gäste stimmen offenbar ohne Bewertung mit ihren Füßen ab. Schade. Macht wieder mehr draus.

Very friendly service, the portions are huge and definitely worth the money.

Was eating this way for the first time and was surprised at the interesting taste. The food was definitely tasty, but was unusual. The combination of savory meat and sweet fruit and spices was worth the experience. The ambience was also very unique, in my opinion a bit too much. Price-wise definitely above average, so not something I would do every month.

Creole cuisine with large portions when it's full but also quite loud with funny decorations with fish and seafood

We reserved a table here for 4 p.m. Because we were so early, there wasn't much going on. Was pleasant. The staff then greeted us in a friendly manner. The restaurant itself is quite colorful. Not to everyone's taste but it has its own charm. We shared an appetizer that was also good. The portion was already a lot. Maybe too much for a starter. Main course was very good. Accordingly also sufficient. Important to know that card payments are not possible there. The bill comes in the box. I personally don't think it's that great and it was to the detriment of the staff. It didn't get the tip I wanted to give.

When you enter Roatan you encounter a colorful underwater world, the walls are painted in an underwater motif and various underwater animals (not real ones) hang on the ceiling and it is very colorfully lit. The theme is consistent and coherent, I find it very cozy and not, definitely a nice, lively atmosphere, it actually reminds me a little of my time in Trinidad and Tobago. Only the music could have leaned a little more towards the Caribbean, the music selection consisted mainly of American club music with hip-hop influences, it fits quite well, although a little soca would have really taken me back to the Caribbean (but that's really splitting hairs). ) The selection of drinks in Roatan is very large, with a wide variety of Caribbean beers and various cocktails to choose from. I chose a Quilmes clásica and was not disappointed! For a starter I ordered the chicken skewers. These were served after just five minutes! The skewers themselves were well seasoned and the meat was tender and juicy. They were served with plantain chips, which went very well with the hot sauce on the table. The salad under the skewers was standard and nothing special. All in all, I can definitely recommend the Chicken Skewers. For my main course I ordered the Jamaican Jerk Chicken, which was served about 20 minutes after I finished my starter. The rice with the chicken was cooked to perfection and the beans were a very good addition. The two sauces for the chicken leg were both excellent in their own way, one was spicy with notes of Habañero, the other was rather mild with the typical taste of allspice. The meat of the jerk chicken was also tender and very juicy. All in all, I am more than satisfied with the dish, a taste explosion. The service was very friendly and on the ball, but not too fake or annoying. I can't fault anything here either. In terms of price, the restaurant is part of the higher price range. I had to pay a total of 52.50 for a starter, main course and two beers, but it felt reasonable. I can definitely recommend the restaurant for a special evening with friends! We've been there with guests visiting our beautiful Hanseatic city for at least 15 years now! Always been very satisfied so far... thanks to Max and his team!!! Great, delicious dishes that you can't find anywhere else in Hamburg! And great cozy atmosphere! Not a fine, star-rated restaurant, but a mid-range experience

Very nice Caribbean restaurant with delicious food, delicious cocktails, great service and a pleasant atmosphere. We had the mixed starter plate in advance, which is an absolute recommendation. The dishes all sounded very spicy, but nothing was really that hot. So ideal for Alman potatoes. If you like it spicier, you can season it with pepper sauce. Attention: Only cash payment possible! No cards.

El restaurante tiene una decoración muy inusual, un poco cursi y encima. Solo aceptan efectivo (hola 2024 ? ) y los precios son una locura! 24 € por una tortilla de verduras. Algunos platos de carne estaban arañando 30 €. Así que comida para dos, bebidas para dos y estás en 100 € por comida muy mediocre. Por este precio también se puede ir a un restaurante que sirve más que pollo y arroz. El personal era amable, pero no volveremos.

You have to like the ambience. It's not my case to sit in some kind of kitsch aquarium. The food is ok. The chicken was rather dry, but acceptable with the sauce. The portion sizes vary in incalculable ways. The starter plate for 4 people was very plentiful, but anticipated all the flavors = sauces of the main courses. Not so much a supplement, but more of an alternative. The service was good that evening. Particularly fascinating is the faded sign that has been hanging in the door for years, stating that card payments are currently not possible. (Hello tax office) Well suited for tourists who also think the Reeperbahn is great. Average with distracting surroundings.

The Roatan restaurant in Hamburg offers fantastic Caribbean cuisine! The taste is simply great – a successful taste explosion: fresh, authentic and full of intense aromas. The service is very friendly and attentive, and the ambience creates a relaxed Caribbean atmosphere with Latin music. If you like exotic food, you definitely shouldn't miss this culinary experience. For dessert there are various delicacies that provide the crowning finale. Simply a direct hit.

Great food, really great cocktails and very nice staff.

We had already seen pictures, so... The place is colorful, a bit thrown together, beautifully decorated, a bit like the Caribbean, the only thing missing was the sand under your feet. The menu was special, unusual... I had crustaceans, shrimps with potatoes in a masala sauce, it was really tasty and almost too much. Plus a pina colada, perfect.

We really enjoyed our visit here from start to finish. We had the first smile on our faces as soon as we entered the restaurant. The decoration and the ambience are simply great. The service was extremely friendly. We also really enjoyed the food. Absolutely recommended!

Colorful and flashy, service nice and casual, but the food, well, pretty much mixed together, ceviche tastes like a seafood salad that is too sour, green salad from the package with ready-made dressing, plantain chips are chewy and taste of nothing, main courses mainly with chicken, that's definitely not the case It's organic, prices between 25 and 40 euros for a main course are quite cheeky for not much more than snack quality, then it's better to pay 10 euros more and go to the star kitchen

Too expensive for the atmosphere

Inconspicuous from the outside, a blast on the inside. Wonderfully colorful, totally overloaded but in a positive sense. Our service was very friendly and quick. The food was great. Chicken very tender, sauces hot and interestingly seasoned. Rice and vegetable side dish also very tasty. We were well full even without starter/dessert. Prices aren't exactly cheap, but that's the case everywhere. We would come back.

The motto is "maritime" and with a lot of imagination you could think you were sitting in an aquarium. In the long run this can be very stressful. The food is nicely presented, more for the eye than the palate. The starter partly consisted of indefinable balls in a fried dough coating. Main course chicken and fish. Chicken is clear, but what kind of fish? Both dishes were a little dry, but with the sauce you could eat them. The portions are ok, not particularly large, but completely sufficient in the 3-course menu. But the plate looks full. The dessert was underwhelming. Chocolate cake that has crumbled apart but combined with mango ice cream it didn't fall off the spoon. Cheesecake tasted more like sour buttercream. It's a shame at the end. There are at least 1000 different exotic beers here. The service at the table was really nice and attentive, in contrast to the colleague at the counter. You can go there once, but once is enough for me.

The dessert plate for 4 people gets 5 stars, but is also enough for 6. The service was a bit slow. We were served nicely, but were sometimes ignored for a long time.

Fantastisk oplevelse. Personalet er super venlige og servicemindet. Stedet oser af hygge med caribisk tema, og stemningen er virkelig fantastisk. Maden smager virkelig godt, som i virkelig godt! Vi havde ikke smagt det caribiske køkken før, men det er ikke sidste gang, og heller ikke sidste gang her. Og portionerne var så store at vi var nødt til at have doggy bags med hjem, selv om vi var mega sultne da vi kom. 5 store stjerner herfra!

This restaurant was/is a hit - from the service to the food and the ambience (holiday feeling). We waited for this for 4 years (Corona and long journeys) and were not disappointed. Price-performance ratio is reasonable, reservation online worked without any problems. It should be clear to everyone that there is no "head waiter" in a suit serving here. For food - very tasty, good selection (starter empanadas, chicken BBQ & beef strips, corn crème brulee for dessert). If we are in Hamburg again, we will definitely come back. LG Simone & Thomas

ATTENTION THREE CANCELLATION FEES. Because I had to cancel my reservation on the same day for professional reasons, a cancellation fee of 80 euros (20 per person) was charged. I was threatened with debt collection. I don't think it's okay or customer-friendly to pass on your business risk to the customer. Also, given the location of this restaurant, I can hardly imagine that there would be no walk-in customers. Especially since many people write in their reviews that they were there spontaneously. I'm pretty upset and won't be visiting this restaurant again.

Bad rip-off because of cancellation. Unfortunately I can't say anything about the restaurant and the food. The visit did not take place. We wanted to celebrate my wife's 40th birthday here in the evening. Unfortunately, our 4-year-old daughter fell ill and we had to cancel the table at very short notice (before 9 a.m. in the morning). I received an incredibly rude email today stating the cancellation policy and asking me to pay a €40 cancellation fee. At the same time, a debt collection agency is threatened. I am truly appalled and very disappointed by this approach. I would have liked to reschedule my visit to this restaurant at a later date. Of course not anymore because of this rip-off. Nevertheless, we wish all guests a good time and good food here. Just be careful if you want to reserve a table.

Zum Restaurant und dem Essen kann ich leider nichts sagen. Der Besuch hat nicht stattgefunden. Wir wollten den 40. Geburtstag meiner Frau hier am Abend zelebrieren. Leider ist unsere 4jährige Tochter krank geworden und wir mussten den Tisch recht kurzfristig (morgens vor 9h) wieder stornieren. Ich habe heute eine unglaublich unverschämte eMail erhalten, bei der auf Stornierungsbedingungen hingewiesen wird und ich zur Zahlung von €40 Stornierungsgebühren aufgefordert werde. Gleichzeitig wird mit einem Inkassounternehmen gedroht. Ich bin wirklich entsetzt und sehr enttäuscht über dieses Vorgehen. Ich hätte meinen Besuch in diesem Restaurant gerne zu einem späteren Termin nachgeholt. Aufgrund dieser Abzocke aber natürlich nicht mehr. Wünsche trotzdem alles Gästen eine gute Zeit und gutes Essen hier. Seid nur vorsichtig, wenn Ihr einen Tisch reservieren wollt.

I didn't like the main courses that much, there was a lot of fried food. And the cocktails were very sweet and low in alcohol.

Love goes through the stomach .... You have to have been here!!! We are totally blown away by this location and just sad that we live so far away otherwise we would eat here all the time... but let's start at the beginning: Ambiance: Let yourself be enchanted by a totally Caribbean ambience from funny to kitschy but appropriate with great music in the background. The lamps are really funny and there are enough details to get lost in. Everything fits perfectly. The service: The service was simply very attentive, really nice, friendly, funny and actually deserved an additional star!!! The food: Mega Mega Mega .... MUST try the appetizer plate - taste EXPLOSIONS are the result!!!! For the main course we had Jamaica Jerk Chicken Combo Hot (and it was really hot!!!) and Fajitas Habaneros Hot. Both were very very very delicate - the chicken in the two sauces absolutely the combination between spiciness and this sweet one with cinnamon.... omg how delicious that was!!!! We would become regular customers - if we didn't live 400 km away!!!! Thank you for this unique meal!!!! !!! Keep it up and good luck ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

I can't understand the many good reviews here. The food was OK but nothing special. The price was pretty steep at 25 euros per dish. We expected much more. The cocktails were terribly bad. It's a shame you can't even mix simple cocktails. The ambience is indeed exceptional, but not to our taste. The tables were also very sticky. What really scored points was the service. Some other restaurants might like to learn a lesson here.

Any time. Great dishes, delicious drinks and nice service. The furnishings and decoration are typically Caribbean. Sometimes shrill and colorful. Be sure to reserve in advance. Allow time to look for a parking space. Only cash payment possible!!!!!!!! In my opinion, this is no longer up to date.

An experience for the eyes and the palate!

Great evening, delicious and lovingly prepared food.

We were in Hamburg as tourists and were looking for an exceptional restaurant. Not always the same: Italian, steakhouse, etc. My wife and I found what we were looking for here... Even though we actually prefer classic food from all nations, we both ate really delicious food. Simply a dream! It's a shame that we're already leaving today, otherwise we would visit this restaurant again :-) In any case, it will be saved for our next visit to Hamburg in November :-)

After a lot of trying, we finally got to Roatan. The service was great, as was the food. We really liked the atmosphere, everything is beautifully colorful. We shared the delicious appetizer platter for one person for two. We then decided on the parrot fish and the chicken drumsticks. Both were very tasty, one of the two sauces for the chicken is very spicy. This is not for people who like things mild. In the end there was simply no room for dessert, so we'll get it next time. As for the beer, I really liked the Cubanero, which isn't on the menu.

An incredibly creatively designed restaurant! Our visit there was almost like a short vacation in another world 🤓 The food is presented very appetizingly and where it says "spicy" it is spicy! The cocktails are also highly recommended, they are all very tasty!

Had the mixed platter with chicken and loved everything on it. The other food we had was also delicious. The service was excellent and the vibe felt exactly like it should in a Carribbean restaurant

The food was really great! We had ceviche as a starter to share and then a sea food dish for two people. So delicious and filling! For drinks, we had margaritas. The waiter was very attentive and super nice. All in all, I would've given this restaurant a well deserved 4/5 stars but it's cash-only and that really shouldn't happen anymore in 2024. That's why I give this restaurant a solid 3/5.

As a family, you should not make a reservation there! But one thing at a time; The location itself is very nice and the food and cocktails are great. We went there spontaneously several times and always got a place and now I come to my BUT and also the reason for the bad rating. We had reserved a table for 4 people on a Saturday evening. Still confirmed on Fridays and early on Saturdays, the info; Child sick, we can't. So I canceled the table for 7pm in the morning. On Monday I received an email with an invoice and the following information: “Unfortunately you canceled your reservation too late, about 10 hours in advance Even though you accepted our cancellation conditions when making your reservation (at least 24 hours in advance, otherwise 20 euros per person) The reservation instructions were also sent via email We also sent a message reminding you again about the reservation and cancellation procedures on April 25th, 20024 The reservation would be confirmed again by you on April 26, 2024 at 9:46 a.m Unfortunately, you now have to pay an 80 euro cancellation fee! If the amount is not received within the next 7 days, we will unfortunately be forced to pass the item on to debt collection, which will only result in higher costs." Yes, at Open table in the bottom right it says €20 per person etc. but honestly, that’s just outrageous, especially the threat of debt collection.” I wrote the gentleman an email, but unfortunately without a response. Dear Mr. xxxx, you will receive the money, but that is a reason for us not to come back again, let alone recommend you to others. Sad but true!
