Cao Cao in Berlin

An excellent and cheap Vietnamese restaurant, we ate a wonderful clam soup and a dish of shrimps with rice and vegetables and it was really delicious.

Absolutely 5 stars, 5.0. Food fantastic, atmosphere nice, service very friendly and quick. And prices are great, 10-11 euros already have delicious, large main dishes like the V8 or V11 on the menu.

Good service - they allowed us to split the bill and the food was delicious. We spent hours in the restaurante chatting and chilling without anyone bothering us.

From the menu it may be not that clear, but all food here contains fish sause. So, no options for the strict vegetarians.

We were here for lunch today and found it very tasty, the prices were pleasantly cheap for Berlin standards and the food was great. I had the Pho and my girlfriend had the vegetarian soup and the spring rolls, both were good. I liked the spring rolls the best here so far seemed homemade and not just thawed. The Pho had a strong broth and the noodles were a little thicker than I'm used to which gave them a little more bite, which I thought was good. All in all, the food was great, the restaurant is beautifully designed and has a quiet atmosphere and the toilets were clean. The waiter was very friendly and accommodating.

Loved the food. Loved the service. Giving 2 stars because of tips forced into your face, starting from +10% , +15% , + 20%. Everyone knows about the social pressure when thee tips are forced to you with the sever waiting over your head. It’s not fair. It might make sense in America ( I argue it doesn’t there too) but this practice is NOT welcome in Europe !!

First time there and really loved the food. I ordered H1 - Côm Sốt Mẽ and it was so delicious! They didn’t have the pomelo salad but still the avocado salad with exquisite!

The service has gotten so bad compared to a few years ago. No matter what I asked, he said no, and when I asked him to cut up some chili for the four of us eating, I was shocked to see that he gave us the size of a fingernail and told us to share. Then, when paying, they asked for a tip of at least 15%. In Europe, you only give a tip if the service is really good, but the service is crappy and they try to get a tip like in the US. The food is worse than a few years ago. Don't go.

Nice decor, but the pho is not authentic pho at all, and way too salty.

We had dinner at a restaurant yesterday. The waiter constantly came and went, checking if we finished our meal, almost like he was trying to hurry us. The portions were small but tasty. I wouldn't recommend it to tourists. It's a place catering more to Germans.

Nothing to say, it was good and the plate was plentiful, there was plenty to eat. The service is fast.

I enjoyed the rice noodles, wonton soup, spring rolls, and Vietnamese spring rolls. Be sure to eat ice cream for dessert!

It doesn't get any better. If you want excellent Vietnamese food, this is the place for you.

I came to Berlin for a few days and wanted to eat some Asian food. I saw good reviews and it was close to where I lived, so I came to try it. I ordered spring rolls, beef and chicken rice noodles, and a la carte of green vegetables and beer. After all, this is Europe, and the taste is certainly not the same as that of Asia. For example, there was no service other than ordering and serving food. The key point was that when paying with a credit card, I wanted to round up the whole number as a meaning. Unexpectedly, the waiter pointed to the 10, 15, and 20% tip options on the credit card machine and asked for a certain amount. It’s really speechless to choose one. If you can understand Chinese comments, please make your own decisions.

Wow, so impressed with this place. It has a classic and luxurious oriental style. I was very surprised when I explored the Cao Cao store, what a special design in this city. The food is very tasty, the price is very reasonable, it is worth coming next time.

I think it is an insult to charge extra for a to-go package when a guest has already spent in a drink, a starter and a main dish. I like ordering a starter and a main dish, though it is normally too much food for me, I like to take what I’m not able to eat at the restaurant to-go. I guess that the manager of this place rather have guests not spending money on a starter or a desert than giving them a to-go package as part of the service. That’s a ridiculous business mindset. I used to be a frequent guest at this restaurant, I came last week and when I ordered what I couldn’t eat anymore to-go, I wasn’t charged extra, the package was beautifully prepared for me by the staff and brought in a bag to my table, that’s real service. Today the waiters inform me the rules changed this week and now not only they asked me to pay one euro for the package but they just brought me the cheapest package possible without a bag and asked me to pack it myself on the table… well, I would like to let you know that I will not only ever order a starter again at your place, you just lost a frequent customer all the way. It’s a real shame when good restaurants ruin themselves making cheap decisions like this one.

The food was okay, nothing extraordinary and also not so many vegan options. The service could’ve been more welcoming.

Very good food, friendly, fast service. More beautiful inside than outside. Of course there were a few greasers in the toilets here too. This should be removed in good time, otherwise it will become more.

I have not even sat at the table yet but was told I only had 1 hour to finish my meal.

Authentic Vietnamese food and attentive service from anh Tài & chi Thủy. I’ve had great Vietnamese food in Berlin and this is one of the best spot for sure.

Abundant portions, although perhaps too much salad. We ordered the duck Vit car ri do which was very good. The waiter told me that the Mien xao with tofu had eggs in it in case there were any vegans. It was very crowded and the service took a little while; Even so, the waiter was attentive, warned us and apologized. We understood each other very well and we were comfortable. They have air conditioning.

Outrageous. Vouchers cannot be redeemed piecemeal. This clearly contradicts the recommendations of the state consumer advice center. Instead, people prefer to discuss things and claim that this is the case everywhere. Insight? None.

We sat outside and came here based on the reviews. They did not lie not only was the food exceptionally good, we only waited for about 10 minutes and then our main courses came. Would definitely go again!

Foreigners should avoid this restaurant. The guy with glasses forced me to tip like I didn’t know the nature of tipping in EU. It’s shady and it disappoints my experience. The food was just ok.

A very good place with a nice atmosphere if you want to eat quickly and enjoy something delicious. The prices are also reasonable. We visited in July—I had the Pho Bo, and my friend had the duck with rice, if I remember correctly. The Pho Bo bowl was really big, and the broth was excellent; I couldn't eat anything else afterward. The duck meat was tender and tasty.

- Food is served in dirty very late plastic dishes. - It was discussed that the food should not be weird - it was extremely spicy. - the waiter was very rude and arrogant. Love tried another restaurant; There are enough alternatives in the area.

Food is OK. Staff on the other hand is very rude and does not speak German or English. Menu includes allergen labeling, but this means nothing. Gluten free meals are served, topped with fried onions coated in gluten. When we adressed this issue, we were cussed at by staff. Staff never offered to remake the dish, on top of that, they never apologized! Do not visit this restaurant if you have food sensitivities or deadly allergies. Staff also forces you to tip. When paying in cash, staff assumes all and any cash above the total is a tip. Does not offer to give you your change unless asked. Just read that a pregnant lady ended up in the hospital with food poisoning after dining here. Stay safe. Do not eat at Cao Cao.

Best Pho I’ve ever had. Everything on their menu is amazing. Unfortunately, the fact that they don’t serve tap water brings the rating down by a star. Otherwise EASY 5 stars.

At Cao Cao I recommend the famous Phó soup - with beef! Very tasty, very friendly and fast service 🫶 the price-performance ratio is very good ☀️☀️ Regarding general prices in the restaurant sector: If inflation rises sharply, prices simply cannot fall. So, everything was great and highly recommended. Best regards

A restaurant near the Memorial Church and therefore well located. The facilities are very good and larger groups can also sit together at a large table. The service is quick and good. The food is good, but good value for money. This should be mentioned regarding the area in which the restaurant is located.

I ordered crispy duck with rice and mango Eistee, the quality of duck and drink is so so. When I paid, the waiter especially emphasized the tip was not included in the price, the handling was a bit strange…

Clean, fast service, good ambiance and great food.

First day in Berlin and found this gem. Absolutely lovely fresh and authentic food. Friendly atmosphere. And great service. We have had a fairly mixed experience of Berlin on our first day, so we were a little wary about finding somewhere to eat , specifically as we both love high quality and fresh food. But this restaurant cheered us up by being so great and we feel much more ready for Berlin tomorrow. 💛

Tried this place on a trip to Berlin while looking for something to re-energize us during our travels. The interior is super cute, a dark mood lighting with lots of photos on the walls. We were seated without a reservation on a Tuesday night. It did get more crowded around 7pm so reserve ahead of time if you are set to eat here. The pho was good, I had to request for sauces (sriracha, chiles, oyster sauce) which normally are brought right away with the pho. We also felt like we were missing a vegetable plate (mint, bean sprouts, etc.). Overall, the broth was good and the meat was tender. It could have used some adjustments to be even better. Pricing is very fair, we spent under 15€ each and still felt full. I would return again if around the area in Berlin!

A good place for privacy and communication. Quiet, calm, lots of seating. You can come in with your dog🐕‍🦺. From the noisy tourist streets you find yourself in the world of Asia🧘‍♀️. 🍲We ordered soup in 2 sizes (seen in the photo). We ate a large portion 😅 Very large! The taste was lacking in vegetables, the broth was tasty. ⛔️Spring Rolls - I don’t recommend it. A bit dry. As they wrote in other comments, it feels like they were in the freezer for a month. Homemade ICE TEA is good 👍 But like in many other places, I don’t understand why you pay 5.5 € for when the whole glass is filled with ice.

Found the place to average. What we did find disappointing is that we were charged €3.50 for a glass of water, we were advised after that fact that they use bottled water. There was no sign of a bottle of water during the service. For reference a glass of beer was €4.90

The atmosphere is excellent. I like that they have options of large and small portion; as I am not so hungry, I only order small portion of beef Pho. Although it is not so authentic as it should be, because I heard that this restaurant is the first Vietnamese restaurant in Berlin (maybe it's the rumor🤔) Anyway the beef is fresh and tender, the soup tastes very savory with beef aroma (of course , it's beef noodle pho😂) the spring roll tastes fresh, crunch not greasy at all. The staff here are friendly and attractive. Come and eat Vietnamese Pho with atmosphere The advantage of this restaurant is that it has large and small portion options. I'm not hungry at all. I just ordered the small portion, but it's really small😅 Although this is a historic store, the pho is not that traditional, "but!" His beef It really tastes like beef, and the texture and soup are 75% like Taiwan Tainan Warming Beef Soup, so I still give it 90 points😊 The fried Vietnamese spring rolls are refreshing and not greasy. The service staff are very kind and friendly.

Food first class, especially for this area in Berlin “value for money” top. Online reservations are seamless (even possible on the same day). Service was quick and there was nothing to complain about. The food was very tasty and the individual components tasted really fresh. Only to be recommended!!!
