Not far from Nymphenburg Palace, right on the canal, you can find this great Italian restaurant. Nice ambience inside (redesigned) and excellent service are what essentially characterize this restaurant. The prices of the dishes are slightly higher, although the taste does not always justify the price.

I spent 1 day in Munich, at the end I visited Nymphenburg Palace, ate in the Grand Canal, which is within walking distance, and then attended a classical concert in the Hercules Hall. The restaurant was a perfect stopover: nice ambience, great food, super friendly service. When I said goodbye, the waiter said "Alla prossima" and I hope I make it back to Munich soon - then I'll definitely eat at the Canal Grande again!

Unfortunately prices are completely overpriced. You only pay for the location. Maybe it was because we were there in the afternoon. I wasn't impressed with the taste. A salad for €14 should be a little more lavish and not just look pretty. Unfortunately, the pasta was also expensive (€24) and nothing more... It's a shame, I expected more for my money.

Abbiamo mangiato in giardino in compagnia del nostro piccolo cane, sia dentro che fuori tutto era pulito curato ed elegante, abbiamo consumato due secondi entrambi ottimi, il vino era di classe e il bagno lucente e curato in ogni dettaglio, il responsabile di sala era attento e molto professionale, un locale dove tornare 😁

AVOID - VASTLY OVERCHARGED. We had dinner with a party of 6 and got grossly overcharged. Placed our order, then server suggested an appetizer. She suggested TWO plates of antipasti, which we accepted. I had seen antipasti on the menu as an appetizer for €7.50. Then the bill came: she charged us €22.50 PER PERSON (€135.00, or €67.50 per plate!!!!!). The charge for each was more than each meal we ordered!! Outrageous!! See one of the two plates we received below. Do not order unless you see it on the menu!

I have found my favorite Italian restaurant. Unfortunately 500 km away from my home :( A dream! The food, the location, the service. Everything absolutely fabulous! We had two different pasta dishes that we could have dug into. When it came to desserts, we would have preferred to have them all, but then we limited ourselves to 3. We're still raving about these desserts two days later. Really incredibly tasty. All the employees were very friendly, you felt very comfortable and welcome. The prices are absolutely reasonable and the portions are very good. Perfect all around, it was our highlight of the day, absolute recommendation!

Wir waren hier zum Mittagessen und feierten einen runden Geburtstag. Für uns war ein Tisch im Freien reserviert. Die Terrasse wird hier und da als "romantisch" beschrieben, aber das wird nur jemand sagen, der in seinem Leben noch nicht allzu viel Romantik erlebt hat. Die Stühle sind wirklich ein wenig niedrig im Verhältnis zum Tisch und etwas unbequem. Nachdem ich mir ein Sitzkissen in den Rücken gelegt hatte, war es bequemer. Die restlichen Tische waren sehr eng gestellt. Als Aperitif hatten wir einen Prosecco, der ganz in Ordnung war. Das Amuse-Gueule war winzig. Das Personal war freundlich, aber fachlich nicht sonderlich kompetent. So hatte ich Krebsfleisch und Garnelen in einer Sauce mit Gemüse, das relativ hart gekocht war. Eingedeckt wurde hier, wie auch beim Lachs, Fischbesteck. Ich ließ mir dann ein normales Messer geben und konnte auch dann das Gemüse schneiden. Von der Bärlauchsauce bemerkte ich relativ wenig. Beim Orangen-Fenchelsalat suchten wir die Orangen vergeblich. Bei der Buratavorspeise erhielten wir Mozarella. DieMousse au Chocolat war in Ordnung. Die Tagliolini mit schwarzem Trüffel waren tatsächlich sehr in Ordnung, Was man im Canal Grande generell sagen kann, da wird schon kräftig hingelangt. Die Qualität war hingegen eher mittelmäßig.

Aufgrund der hohen Anzahl an guten Rezessionen auf Google habe ich einen Tisch im Canal Grande reserviert. Lieber hätte ich direkt mal auf TripAdvisor schauen sollen. Der Service ist zwar sicherlich freundlich nett, aber es fehlt an Professionalität, Herzlichkeit und es dauert alles viel zu lange. Da gibt es viel bessere italienische Restaurants in der fussläufigen Umgebung. Von Ankunft bis zum Servieren der Vorspeise warteten wir 70 Minuten. Danach ging es zäh weiter. Die Vorspeisen waren geschmacklicher Standard zu gehobenen Preisen. Hauptgang: Meinem Wunsch nach einer krossen Goldbrasse und knusprigen dunkel gebratenen Kartoffeln kam niemand nach, obwohl es sich der Kellner notiert hatte. Die Goldbrasse an sich war qualitativ und geschmacklich sehr gut. Die Rosmarinkartoffeln kamen ohne Rosmarin und waren weder angebraten noch knusprig, sondern einfach lieblos gedämpft auf dem Teller. Das gemischte Gemüse bestand aus kaltem Brokkoli und ein paar wenigen Zucchinischnitzen. Als i-Tüpfelchen hat das Restaurant eine Terrassenbestuhlung die leider nicht passend gewählt wurde. Die Stühle sind viel zu niedrig zu den Tischen und man sitzt nicht sehr komfortabel. In Summe nett, aber mehr auch nicht. Für uns ist es keinen Besuch mehr wert.

Leider mussten wir ewig auf unsere Hauptspeise warten und haben dann nicht das Gericht bekommen, das wir bestellt haben. Die beiden Fische waren weitgehend geschmacksneutral und nicht schön angerichtet. Das Gemüse wenig und die Seezunge klein für den Preis. Wir wurden nach einem Wechsel des zuständigen Kellners weitgehend ignoriert. Es kam dann noch eine komplett falsche Rechnung. Wir werden das Restaurant künftig nicht mehr besuchen.

Yesterday we visited your restaurant and ordered fish... Unfortunately, this experience left us with extremely negative impressions! We spent the whole night with severe nausea and stomach pains. This is completely unacceptable for a restaurant of your level. We expected quality service and fresh products, but unfortunately all we received was disappointment and health problems. I hope you take steps to ensure this doesn't happen to other customers!

Amazing pasta dishes that rival what we ate in Florence

Had the menu. Since I wanted the starter to be vegetarian without ham, it simply came without ham and with a minimal amount of greenery 😅 At my request, a few more tomatoes were added. Intercourse was great, main course meat was okay, main course fish was really good. Unfortunately dessert was not good. The price is okay at €54. Waiters two or three were very friendly, the older gentleman didn't really speak. Overall we were hoping for a little more.

As is often the case when you are looking for a good restaurant, you can discover real highlights! The Italian restaurant Canal Grande was such a wonderful discovery for us as a family. The loving atmosphere includes incredibly courteous staff who value and court you as a customer. Everything is carefully coordinated. In addition to the drinks on offer, a small delicacy before the meal to shorten the waiting time. Then the main course - one of the best lasagne I've eaten in my life, really wow. At the end there was an espresso. Unfortunately the quality is not reflected in the pictures. We will come back!

Ambiance is very inviting. Each table does not have “its” service, but is served by all waiters and waitresses. Sometimes very friendly, sometimes bored. The waitress was very friendly. The price-performance ratio is outrageous. The starter, an avocado salad, was of good quality from a discounter. The avocado was black at the tip and had several brown spots on the rest of the surface, which is not possible at a price of almost 15 euros. The arugula also had no aroma. The salmon carpaccio felt like 10g, which was pretty steep for over 16 euros. The bread that came with it was very good. The main menu was delicious. The blanched vegetables were crunchy and good but a little very little. I find 2 halves of a small potato a bit too little as the only carbohydrate side dish. Conclusion: Some of the ingredients used and their preparation, as well as the sometimes unsuitable service, in no way justify the high price! If it's gourmet price, then also appropriate ingredients and consistently appropriate service

Whitsun Sunday visit: We were completely satisfied - the food (with reordering of the side dishes) was fantastic!

The food was terrible. The Aperol Spritz was terrible. When we told them the pasta was too salty at the end (we did eat it because we were really hungry), they schooled us that we should’ve told it to them at the start, and they couldn’t do anything because the “plate is already empty”. We did not even ask to do anything in the first place. Anyway, that is to say that the service qualifies as terrible too.

Things are still authentically Italian here: friendly staff who speak Italian throughout, an Italian menu with rarer types of wine, including those from Sicily, and high-quality cuisine.

Great Italian restaurant with an extraordinary service. The atmosphere is unique, both inside but primarily in the lovely terrace that has a great view to the canal .

I don't understand why this restaurant has such a high rating because it was disgusting! The pasta was oversalted, the food was inedible and the portion was absolutely inadequate for the price. The Aperol Spritz tasted disgusting and the ice cream was terrible. I even advise hungry people not to come here.

Good food, good atmosphere, very long service

The restaurant has a very nice, relaxed atmosphere and great outdoor seating. The salmon was really a little highlight and was very fresh, tender and fried to perfection. The staff was very friendly and we felt completely comfortable.

Unfortunately, the restaurant didn't live up to what the reviews had promised. The waiter seated us outside at a table that was covered in petals and seeds from the surrounding trees and we should have removed them from the napkins ourselves. At our request we found another, clean table. Unfortunately, the other service was not worth a better rating either. We would have liked more drinks if the waiter had been a little more attentive. We had ordered a fish for two people, which unfortunately was cut up very amateurishly. The fish was good, but the two potatoes (should have cooked for 5 minutes longer) and the vegetable side dish were very simple.

Had dinner there again with friends, Unfortunately not like it used to be, fennel salad was a mistake. Vitello tonato was missing vietello 👀,,,, it's a shame.

Average+ food, high price, slow times and one particularly rude (bordering violent) waiter who slammed the door on us because we forgot our baby’s bottle, what didn’t start bad, turned into a very disappointing staff and dining experience, never again.

Absolutely loved the place for it's ambience, for the food and exceptional service. Of course being vegetarian we ordered only the bruschetta which was so yummy, and Pizza pane which is a Simple pizza with tomato sauce and mozzarella but often very difficult to get right. Most places we don't like the pizza. The service was great with friendly staff and quick service. Enough parking available. Do make a reservation though. We did.

Substandard service in a restaurant that charges top prices. Absolutely nothing is wrong here. Not even the food was convincing as it was carelessly prepared and tasted bland.

The place is super pretty and very well located, the waiters are very nice and very welcoming, we had a great evening largely thanks to the staff. The dishes are very good and the prices very reasonable. We recommend 100%!

Very tasty Italian, Unfortunately, the service has become worse and worse in recent years. It's not possible to pre-order and pick up, they announce 10 minutes and then you wait an additional 40 minutes... and that's on days when there's little going on. Without words... why do they offer to pick up... once and never again.

Very nice and elegant Italian restaurant with very good quality food and a great ambience. The price/performance ratio is strong. I've never had such good Italian food in Munich for the price. Definitely fine dining for very affordable prices. The service staff is very nice and also very child-friendly. Went there with two small children and had a great evening. The children's chairs are great. The location is one of the best in Munich, right on the Schloßkanal. Especially on warm summer evenings. Chapeau.

Wonderful! Nice, bright atmosphere (was there at lunchtime), attentive and friendly service. Three different lunch menus from €11 including bruschetta and espresso or cappuccino (which, however, was lukewarm). August 1st, 2021 unfortunately the prices are now too high! The small portion of pasta (menu) was dry and hardly any salmon in it. The salad in front of it was also very modest. It's a shame ☹️. February 2024: received a message from Google that my review had been criticized. I'm deducting another star for that.

Update: The restaurant has asked Google to delete my review - citing the fact that I have never been to the restaurant. 'Unfortunately' we paid with the card at the time and were able to provide proof of the transaction. However, other negative reviews without proof of transaction were probably deleted because the restaurant's overall rating rose from 4.2 to 4.6 points within a week at the beginning of February 2024. I'm really shocked. *** We live nearby and I have been there at least 5-7 times. After a few dinners I found the food a bit overpriced for the quality, but I really liked the ambience and went there every now and then to drink a glass of champagne. You can often get a table there even without a reservation. Today we ordered two small tarts from the display case and we were charged 8.9 euros for each. It has to be said that there is no dessert on the dessert menu that costs more than 8 euros. When we ordered, we thought it was a 'cake from the display case' that cost 4.7 euros. We asked how it was calculated. The chef came and said, yes, the tarts are in the display case, but that 4.7 euros meant something different and it's actually not there and what we ordered isn't on the menu and has an extra price. Thanks for explaining it when paying. Sometimes it's okay to have a misunderstanding. What impressed me, however, was that he didn't even apologize or offer a discount. To be honest, it seemed very cheap to me that people were prepared to treat their guests unfairly for an extra 10 euros. So of course we don't come around anymore.

Every time a pleasure! We have been exploring new restaurants and keep returning to Canal Grande. Tonight we arrived just after the kitchen closed, and kind Matei kept it open for us. Another delicious meal!

Very nice and courteous service. The ambience is quite ok, even if the space is very long and stretched out like a hose. Unfortunately the food wasn't good, and especially not at that price. I lived in the neighborhood for many years. I was only there once because the food wasn't tasty. The starter - prawns on avocado salad for EUR 13.50 - could be saved to some extent by the avocado taste. The prawns were without sophistication and rather tasteless. The sole with Prosecco foam and truffles on spinach for EUR 21.50 was absolutely colorless. There were lots of black slices on the plate. I don't know what I was served there, at least NO TRUFFLE. The Prosecco foam was also missing. The potatoes were without any butter or seasoning. Simply peeled, halved and placed on the plate. Conclusion: Since the service is nice, you might be able to eat pasta or pizza there. Certainly not dishes that require skill in the kitchen. Addendum: The restaurant doesn't like my review. He has hired a lawyer because he “feels his personality has been violated.” You can only avoid such places. it was one of our favorite places. Food, atmosphere and service are very good. Picking up pizza once a week became a ritual since the pandemic started. Today I learned that card payment is not longer accepted for amounts under € 25,-, an exception was made for my today’s order…sorry to say, but cash is a show stopper for various reasons - it results in two stars here. Update: They accept cashless payment for all amounts again.

Das Canal Grande verlässt sich leider viel zu sehr auf seine Lage und die damit verbundene Stammkundschaft. Die Qualität des Essens ist in Ordnung, aber nicht herausragend. Die Portionen sind für die Preise zu klein. Service und Freundlichkeit des Personals sind tagesformabhängig. Beim Bezahlen mit Karte wurde ich vom Kellner aufgefordert das Trinkgeld doch in Bar zu übergeben. Sagt eigentlich alles. Positiv hervorzuheben ist der Sitzbereich draußen, das war es aber leider auch schon. In der Gegend gibt es bessere Italiener. Nachtrag: Das Restaurant lässt aktuell unliebsame Negativbewertungen entfernen, indem es unterstellt man wäre nie dort gewesen. Meine Bewertung wird deshalb auf einen Stern korrigiert.

The Vitello Tonnato starter was delicious, but the main course, despite its high quality, was not justified in terms of price and portion size. The tortiglioni carbonara, on the other hand, had a convincing taste and offered good value for money. The service was good, the ambience appealing and the prices were on the higher side.

Sie waren überaus freundlich und haben dafür gesorgt, dass unser Besuch unvergesslich wurde. Dies ist definitiv ein Ort, den ich all meinen Freunden wärmstens empfehlen würde. Ein Muss, wenn Sie authentische italienische Küche in einer atemberaubenden Umgebung genießen möchten! Grazie!

Very nice atmosphere nearby the nymphenburg castle. The food is amazing and prize wise it's totally fine (especially for the immediate vicinity of the castle). Ordered 2 very delicious pizzas, 2 Spritz, water for the table and dessert for around 60€.

Schöner Italiener in Nymphenburg. Direkt am Kanal gelegen findet man hier leckeres italienisches Essen und Lebensfreude.
