Café Spitz in Bonn

Good service, very pleasant and attentive waiters. Unfortunately, the hamburger was a bit dry. They offered me some sauce and brought it. It was delicious.

This place is an absolute disaster!!!! I went there today with my sister to have a relaxing coffee. When we arrived, we had to wait 10-20 minutes before anyone even served us. We sat outside at first, but then went inside because the tarpaulins were useless against the rain; we got soaked. Once inside, my coffee spilled. No waiter even thought to help me clean it up, even though I pointed it out twice! Only on the third time did a waitress help me. I then asked her if I could get a new coffee, but she couldn't answer my question, and I didn't get a new coffee or even a complimentary one. At my workplace, customers aren't allowed to clean up! As a coworker, I have to clean it up and then cancel the order or bring a free replacement, which didn't happen here! I didn't leave a tip either, which obviously bothered the waiter because he practically threw the money at me. I will never set foot in this filthy place again, an absolute catastrophe!!!

A great place to meet up with friends for a relaxed evening. Everyone will find something to their liking on the menu, whether it's food or drinks. The service is solid with a few minor flaws; the menu arrives quickly, but it takes a little while for the order to be taken. However, the drinks and food don't take long to arrive. Afterwards, the service is somewhat inattentive; we sat with empty glasses for about 20 minutes. The food quality is adequate—not high-end, but good for a café, especially considering the menu selection. Spitz is well-located, a bit rustic in places, but clean and well-maintained. Worth a visit (and more!).

"Das Spitz" is an institution in Bonn and has been a meeting place for Bonn residents and visitors for over 20 years (fun fact: I was at the opening party! 🤪). While it used to be a popular hangout for Bonn's party crowd, it's now a bit run-down and in need of renovation. The food is okay, but priced on the high side, and the service is good - often overwhelmed on the terrace in summer. The Sunday breakfast is highly recommended: all-you-can-eat with table service. Overall, "Das Spitz" remains one of the central meeting places in the pedestrian zone. Best parking: Friedensplatzgarage

Always delicious, you can't go wrong here! It's always quite busy because it's so busy. If you're looking for something quiet, you might not find it here.

Food made with little love! Cold cheese on pizza, nachos, and the like.

The salami pizza was very bad and really didn't live up to the price. The service was fast but not very polite, and saying "Bon appétit" is the least of it! The atmosphere is quite good. I would also recommend a different Kölsch beer than the Sion, which goes stale after two minutes.

On October 4, 2025, at around 8 p.m., we were served by a bald man. The service was super friendly, the food was delicious, the guests were pleasant and the atmosphere was good too:) we'd be happy to come back any time.

Unfortunately, there are always smokers everywhere outside. This is intolerable. It should be banned.

I only had the Margherita pizza with a Kölsch beer. The pizza was great, and the prices were very reasonable for such a nice place.

Hello. I've always loved the veal schnitzel Milanese. But yesterday, it was served to me with torn breading. At first, the first order didn't work either. Instead of fried potatoes, I ordered fries. Too bad, I've always been satisfied. Then I'll have to order something else next time 😊

We went there for breakfast and ate on the outside terrace. Food and drink were okay but the wasps were really annoying. Overall a nice experience.

Nice place, but they should have made us wait for our cappuccino instead of serving it at the table. After all, I pay to eat and drink inside, not to take it out.

I ordered a latte macchiato with alcohol, but when I tasted it, there was no alcohol in it. I politely pointed this out to the employee, but she was unfortunately unhelpful and told me I would have to pay for a new drink. I find this a shame, especially because the service was disrespectful and they didn't listen to me. I was friendly and calm, but I didn't get a solution. For a café of this standard, I expected more professionalism. Very disappointing.

The selection of cafes in Bonn is too good for me to come here again. The food is just about okay in terms of value for money (the breakfast, however, isn't great). The coffee is okay. The tea is ridiculously priced – in my experience, they only serve tea bags (a whole pack of which is cheaper than tea here) with a biscuit, but no honey or anything similar. The location looks quite good from the outside, but as soon as you sit down, you notice how noisy it is outside. In summer, it's uncomfortably warm inside, but in winter, the temperature is fine. The service, however, was friendly and prompt; I have no complaints there.

It's a really cool place to meet up – lively, charming, and with a great vibe. I had the Kaiserschmarrn and loved it: beautifully fluffy, freshly prepared, and just the right amount of sweetness. The service was very friendly and attentive, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. A café that not only tastes good, but also makes you want to come back. A heartfelt recommendation.

We were there on June 14, 2025, with 15 people. Without a reservation, tables were immediately set up. We were seated within five minutes. The food and drinks were delicious. The waiters were very friendly and attentive. The knives were a bit blunt, but all in all, the service was excellent.

Dear Kaffee Spitz team, What exactly is going wrong with you? My visit today was honestly a complete disaster – and it wasn't the coffee, but your staff. I've rarely experienced so many unfriendly, hectic, and obviously annoyed waiters in one place. No one seems to have a handle on everything, and friendliness is apparently a foreign word to you. What kind of treatment is this for guests? It really takes away your appetite – and your desire to ever come back. I hope you get this under control. There's something for everyone here! The café serves excellent breakfast, pasta, pizza, and other main courses, as well as cocktails and wines. The food is always delicious, and the service is usually excellent and the prices are great. On weekends, there's a server there who is always particularly friendly! I've enjoyed coming here for years. My recommendation is definitely the lasagna.

Every visit to Bonn for my girlfriend and I included a visit to Café Spitz. We always received good service, the food was never amiss, and the prices are great. Enjoying an evening with a drink or a late-night pizza is no problem here. Simply fabulous.

I actually quite like Café Spitz, but for the last 5-6 visits, I've been treated rudely by the same unfriendly blonde waitress, who always wears her hair in a ponytail. She's unfriendly and unpleasant, and I think that kind of thing drags the place down. For example, I asked her something and she ignored me, then replied in a grumpy/annoyed manner. She also took my order without looking me in the eye. These and other situations have happened not just once, but on every visit. I've therefore decided not to come to the café for a while. What a shame!!

We felt completely at home and it completely met our expectations (late breakfast/brunch). Everything was very fresh... Definitely worth a repeat visit!

Relax on a terrace in the sun in Bonn

It wasn't my first time here. And I was very hungry. But the portion was really good. Delicious, on point, very appealing. The eyes are also treated to a lot here. It tastes good indoors or outdoors, depending on the weather. And it's also worth meeting up with friends or colleagues. Give it a try.

Very nice waitresses, but recently the cafe has been attracting really strange customers. People sit too close to each other outdoors, especially at a table with strangers. The men's groups in particular are very loud and unpleasant. It's a shame, it used to be very nice to sit there. Yesterday we were constantly talking about grass and while we were eating there was a smell of cigarettes coming from left and right. It's really more pleasant inside. It was so loud that you could no longer understand your own words.

I actually go there every weekend to relax - the atmosphere is really pleasant too. But a black-haired, thin and taller waiter suddenly said that on weekends you were only allowed to sit down “with food” and sent us away. This is how you lose regular customers. A waiter like that doesn't fit at Café Spitz. Two stars – just because a lot of things have been right so far.

We went to Spitz for an Aperol today. Highly recommended, you could really sit in the sun. The Aperol tasted particularly delicious and I can recommend the olives - I've rarely had such good olives. Clear recommendation!

Charging 10.20 for this is a bit of a joke

Sitting down for lunch with my 83 year old mom last Sunday. Several waiters were running back and forth - it was only a third full - no service was served for almost 20 minutes!! - Waiters were always walking past us - serving guests who arrived later and chatting with other guests...totally unpleasant and unprofessional something like that :-((( when we left a waiter came towards us and we asked, do they serve you too? Answer: yes, we serve everywhere! That was my last visit here 😞

Absolutely unacceptable behavior from the waiter named Flamur. After waiting over an hour for our food, we asked for it, only to be treated with complete disrespect. Instead of apologizing or offering a solution, we were told to pay for our drinks and leave - the meal was simply cancelled. Incredibly rude, unprofessional and completely anti-customer. Such behavior is not worthy of a restaurant business. Never again – absolutely not recommended!

The “all you can eat” buffet is an imposition. We ordered this with 7 people and the portion size was just enough for 3 people. We reordered immediately. Each of these reorders took 30 minutes to arrive.

The service is a disaster. One gets the impression that the café is trying to serve as little food as possible to the guests who have ordered the “all you can eat breakfast”. Service only comes to the table every 15-20 minutes. Reordering scrambled eggs takes 30 minutes.

We sat outside today in the wonderful sunshine and were served in a very friendly and courteous manner by a nice gentleman who obviously really enjoys his job. For every guest - that's what we noticed around us - he had a friendly and personal word! Food and drinks came quickly and were very tasty and fresh. Clear recommendation!

We just sat outside for 15 minutes waiting for our order to be taken while others around us were being served (even people who arrived after us). When the waiter came to us, we were asked to sit at another table "because lawyers want to have lunch here and always sit here." Then the waiter left again without taking our order. Bottomless impudence!

I haven't eaten so badly in a long time. A bone-dry schnitzel, bad, watery pepper sauce, the fries so-so.

The café/restaurant is very centrally located in Bonn. We were there on a Friday evening and it was incredibly crowded. It's a shame that you first have to go through the smoking terrace to get to the entrance. The menu has something for everyone and the prices are still great. However, in order to improve quality, I would reduce the menu and make the portions a little smaller (hence only 4/5 stars). Overall, the restaurant is highly recommended. The staff is fantastic and very thoughtful and friendly!

Good prices, but oat milk in coffee for 90ct is way over the top. For this you get half a liter...

A 90 cent surcharge for oat milk is an imposition on people who care about protecting our planet.

We ate here with a larger group of around 39 people. From my point of view everything went great. I had the rump steak and was very happy with it. I'd love to come back.

What a beautiful café, but the best thing is the service here, no guest is left out in the cold, whether with or without a reservation, as we did.

We enjoyed a wonderful Christmas party among colleagues in the afternoon in a separate room, with a very attentive waiter and a large selection of drinks and food, so there was something for every taste. There were also Christmas drinks and seasonal meals. Everyone was very satisfied and happy. I also spent one or two lunch breaks here with my husband at other times of the year. The atmosphere is very cozy and homely, especially in the small extra rooms. Always recommended!
