Wir hatten eine köstliche Forelle Müllerin Art bei grandiosem Bergblick! Sehr nette Kellnerinnen ! Wir waren schon ein paar mal hier und es ist immer wieder toll.

Lage TOP, Ambiente Wow, Preis-Leistung mau... Alkohol freies Hefeweizen 5.40, geht gerade noch. An einen Kaiserschmarrn für 17.90 , hatten wir schon eine gewisse Erwartung. Gekommen ist, ziemlich schnell, ein Fertigprodukt, in nicht allzu grosser Portion. Ums kurz zu machen, wir können das Lokal nicht empfehlen. Die Preise, mit der Ware, da kannst du nicht zufrieden sein.

Tolles Café und Restaurant in schönster Lage. Sehr freundliche Bedienung.

Wunderschöne Aussicht, sehr schöne gemütliche Gaststube und Aussenbereich. Besonders freundliches Team. Und sehr leckere Speisen!

5€ für 0,4l Skiwasser? War der erste und letzte Besuch. Irgendwann reicht es - schöner Blick hin oder her!

Die Aussicht von der Terrasse ist wirklich fantastisch. Der Kaiserschmarren war geschmacklich gut, aber die Portion war echt klein und für 19€ haben wir eigentlich mehr erwartet. Man kann hier allerdings mit Karte bezahlen - eine Seltenheit im Allgäu. Der Service war super.

Alles Bestens - fairer Preis man kann als Gast bis kurz davor mit dem Auto fahren.

Wir sind eventuell ein bisschen anders als andere. Meine Frau und ich arbeiten selbst in der Lebensmittel Branche ich bin Küchenchef. Daher gucken wir wohl ein bisschen anders drauf und suchen uns Restaurants die nicht zwangsläufig jeder findet. So auch der karatsbichl. Fiel mir sofort ins Auge als wir auf dem Weg zum südlichsten Punkt Deutschlands waren. Drei Tage später am Sonntag sind wir dort eingekehrt. Ein wunderschönes altes Gasthaus!! Hier atmet man quasi Tradition und gelebte Gastfreundschaft seit Generationen. Der Empfang war superfreundlich und herzlich. Unsere Servicekraft, eine junge Dame, fragte uns nach den Getränken und empfahl uns jenseits der normalen Karte Rinderrouladen mit Kartoffelbrei und Gemüse. Wir folgten der Empfehlung und orderten 2 der letzten 3 Portionen. Was soll ich sagen es war ein Genuss!! 2 leckere Rouladen, selbstgemachtes Püree und Karotten und Broccoli Gemüse. Einfach ehrliche, deftige,leckere Hausmannskost. Mega. Zum Nachtisch teilten wir uns noch eine Portion göttlichen Kaiserschmarrn mit 2 Kugeln hausgemachtem Vanilleeis. Wir waren sehr zufrieden und kommen bestimmt wieder. Kurz möchte ich noch sagen weil man auch andere Rezessionen liest eine größere Terrine Suppe mit Rindfleisch und Einlage für 11 Euro ist nicht überteuert!! Hier wird eine echte Rinderbrühe gekocht ( das Schulterfleisch steht auf der Karte) das braucht gute Rohstoffe, Energie, Zeit und auch fachliches Können. Energie wird immer teurer, gute regionale Zutaten ebenfalls und auch gutes Personal möchte gutes Geld verdienen. Der Betreiberfamilie sollte auch nach Steuer noch was übrig bleiben also wenn man ein top Produkt bekommt wie im Karatsbichl dann sind die Preise dort wirklich angemessen. Weiter so liebes Karatsbichl Team und bis bald.

Leider waren wir vom Besuch in Karachtsbichl enttäuscht. Die Servicekraft wirkte während des gesamten Aufenthalts sehr unfreundlich und gereizt, wodurch man sich als Gast nicht wirklich willkommen gefühlt hat. Gerade in einem Café erwartet man eigentlich eine angenehme und freundliche Atmosphäre. Zusätzlich fanden wir die Preise leider nicht angemessen – insbesondere 19 € für einen Kaiserschmarrn empfinden wir als deutlich überzogen, vor allem im Verhältnis zur Leistung und dem Gesamterlebnis. Schade, denn die Location an sich hat eigentlich Potenzial.

Eigentlich kommen wir gerne ins Karatsbichl, weil man hier so eine schöne Aussicht hat. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis der Speisen und der Service waren schon immer grenzwertig. Als wir die Tage mal wieder da waren und über 33 EUR für eine Forelle mit 3 halben Kartoffeln und zusätzlich fast 7 EUR für einen mickrigen Beilagensalat bezahlt haben war klar, so schnell kommen wir nicht wieder!!!!´...zumal es diverse andere Lokale in der Nähe gibt,bei denen man frischen Bergfisch zu einem deutlich besseren Preis-Leistungsverhältnis und freundlicheren Service bekommt.

Sehr feines Essen, kommen gerne immer wieder. Gute Qualität, hier kocht der Chef noch selbst. Sehr nette Gastgeber und unschlagbare Lage!

Wir waren zum Café im Karatsbichl in Oberstdorf, um den 85. Geburtstag meiner Schwiegermutter zu feiern – und es war rundum gelungen. Die Atmosphäre ist sehr gemütlich und einladend, perfekt für einen besonderen Anlass mit der Familie. Wir haben einiges von der Brotzeitkarte probiert und natürlich auch verschiedene Kuchen – alles war wirklich hervorragend. Frisch, liebevoll angerichtet und geschmacklich top. Der Service war aufmerksam und freundlich, sodass wir uns sehr wohlgefühlt haben. Ein schöner Ort, um gemeinsam zu genießen und besondere Momente zu feiern. Wir kommen sehr gerne wieder und können das Café Restaurant Karatsbichl absolut empfehlen. Klare 5 Sterne! Boris Gröbl

Schönes Lokal mit gutem Essen. Freundliches Personal.

Wir waren zum wiederholten Mal zum Kässpatzenessen am Samstag (nur im Herbst und Winter) im Karatsbichl. Authentisch frisch gehobelte Kässpatzen mit geschmälzte Zwiebel und Bergbauernbrot, wahlweise mit Salat oder Suppe vorweg. Kässpatzen wie bei der Oma! Einfach fein 👍 Es gilt zu beachten, dass am Kässpatzenabend nicht die sonstige Speisekarte gilt.

Hier kehrt man gerne ein,freundliches Personal, Parkplätze vor der Tür, schöne Ausblick auf die Berge, Kinderspielplatz, Kuchen selbst gemacht… 👍👍👍

Wir waren zum Käsespätzle Abend dort und waren absolut begeistert. Es war super lecker! Besonders hervorzuheben auch der perfekte Service und die sehr freundliche, herzliche Bedienung! Wir kommen wieder!

War als Zwischenstop bei einer Winterwanderung am Feiertag zum Kaffee und Kuchen dort. Es war Hochbetrieb aber wir konnten einen schönen Platz ergattern. Der Service war trotz soviel Betrieb schnell und sehr freundlich. Wir Hatten Cappuccino und Apfelkuchen und Zwetschgenkuchen, sehr lecker. Aber auch die anderen Gerichte sahen sehr gut aus. Preisleistung stimmt.

Absolutely fantastic!! The trout and the Kaiserschmarren were amazing!! The service was also incredibly efficient and super friendly!! We thoroughly enjoyed the birthday meal!!

A wonderful coffee shop located just outside Oberstdorf is always worth a walk.

My daughter was having coffee, everything was fine as usual, then the waitress came over: "The boss made too much Kaiserschmarren, we'd have to throw it away otherwise, would you like some?" They said yes, which was fine, but then charged us €18 each, the regular price. Not a good look.

A wonderful discovery in Oberstdorf, why didn't we come here sooner? Great food, friendly service and a fantastic view.

Stopped there for a cup of coffee after a hike at the beginning of October. The staff member recommended the currant cake. It tasted as good as it should 👍🏼 We immediately reserved a table for the cheese spaetzle evening. It was my first time eating this Bavarian delicacy, and... we absolutely loved it! Everything was perfect. The price/performance ratio was definitely justified. Next year! We'd love to come back. All the service staff were very friendly and attentive. Today we were at the Café-Restaurant Karatsbichl. We had delicious homemade cake, accompanied by a scoop of ice cream and a cappuccino. Very friendly and attentive service. A place steeped in history and flair! This is where skiing began in Oberstdorf around 100 years ago. The café is run by the third generation of Herz family, and the hospitality is exceptional. A fantastic panorama. There are play areas for children right next to the terrace. We'd love to come back!

Beautiful location for a little getaway. The food was very good, even a gluten-free Kaiserschmarrn for me. Great, we'll be back!

We come here regularly and are amazed every time! 🌟 The view is simply stunning and makes every visit special. The hosts, Steffi and Philipp, are incredibly warm, making you feel immediately welcome. You can feel the love and passion they put into running their restaurant. It's a real highlight for families: The swings for the kids are fantastic – and now they even have a big new one that's really fun! A place to enjoy, relax, and come back – highly recommended!

The best plum cake I've ever eaten. Traditional cuisine served like at home in a MAGICAL place! It deserves top marks in my opinion.

The main courses are all truly delicious, and the staff is incredibly friendly. Unfortunately, I didn't like the Kaiserschmarren so much; it tasted very strongly of scrambled eggs. Otherwise, everything was top-notch!

A lovely place to linger. Very friendly hosts, and the homemade cake is delicious. Always a must when I'm in Oberstdorf.

A truly wonderful atmosphere. The view of the Nebelhorn is breathtaking. The homemade currant cake was delicious, as was the coffee. The price/performance ratio is excellent. We'll be back.

I wholeheartedly recommend the Karatsbichl. During my vacation, I often enjoyed excellent meals both on the beautiful terrace with its wonderful panorama and indoors. Recently, the asparagus was excellent, but the cheese spaetzle in the evening and the homemade cake were also a delight. And all of this is rounded off by the very friendly and attentive service. I'm already looking forward to my next vacation and the Karatsbichl.

I've been to Oberstdorf many times, but today was the first time in Karatsbichl. The food was great and absolutely worth the money, the service staff were very friendly and since there wasn't that much going on, we had a very nice conversation. There were great tour suggestions, almost like being in a mountain hut with the hut landlord. The view through the large windows of the surrounding mountains invites you to linger. I'll definitely come back 🤗🤗

Contrary to some bad reviews, we can't say anything negative. We were warmly welcomed by the owner Steffi. We ate a mixed side salad and cheese spaetzle for 4 people. We were more than well fed and would also have had second helpings. Everything was very tasty and the atmosphere there is simply cozy.

We had a completely successful evening! Particularly noteworthy are the cheese spaetzle - homemade, with strong cheese and wonderful melted onions, simply a pleasure! The service was also extremely friendly, attentive and warm, you immediately feel welcome. The combination with the torchlight hike was a real highlight, especially for the children - a little adventure with a very special atmosphere with musical accompaniment. The view of Oberstdorf and the surrounding mountains rounds off the experience perfectly - simply fantastically beautiful. And also (unfortunately still) not a given: you can pay by card! We would love to come back!

Located in the middle of the green, away from the hustle and bustle. There are enough parking spaces available. From the car park 5 minutes walk to the café/restaurant. We were there for coffee/cake. Great service, delicious cake and you can enjoy the fantastic mountain panorama on the terrace 🤩

Nice view in the garden, food was okay, prices were very high. Paying €7.90 for a mini side salad, which only consisted of lettuce, some radishes and carrots, is not appropriate. The sausage salad was very good, but not exactly filling, and the wood-fired bread that came with it was so dried out.

Well, I thought it was good here, fantastic view of the Oberstdorf mountains, great terraces with plenty of seats. Food delicious, conditions very friendly, price ok. Was one of the few that were open at the beginning of April.

--- I'm always curious (you could call me the Sherlock Holmes of everyday life). When I read a review from a “JP” who almost panicked warned me not to visit, I thought: “Challenge accepted!” So I set out to see for myself. And what can I say? I was thrilled! As soon as I saw the charmingly preserved inn building, I was blown away. The restaurant? Nothing less than an oasis of well-being. And the employees? So nice that they could easily win the award for friendliest people in the universe. Then came the trout fillets - delicious to die for - accompanied by a crisp, fresh salad. In short: a direct hit across the board that is guaranteed to make every guest happy. Of course the prices aren't exactly mini - but hey, you know that beforehand or read it in the Google reviews. That's where you get smart. All in all it was a perfect walk from Oberstdorf with a great stay in a historic inn. Really highly recommended! --- 😉

I can't understand some of the bad reviews about the price or quality. We always go to Karatsbichl when we are in Oberstdorf. The food is always freshly cooked and impeccably prepared. This is complex and quality has its price. I'm also very happy that the Kaiserschmarrn tastes the way it is prepared here, it would be boring if it tasted the same everywhere. Keep it up and don't be impressed by people who don't know any better. We think it's great with you...

Unfortunately, that was the worst nonsense in the 4 weeks of the treatment. Even in some huts cheaper (here 17.90) and unfortunately also better (even a few meters further at the Höllenwiesenlift) Was there on the recommendation of other spa guests, but they had cheese spaetzle, for example, and were thrilled with it. That's why the review is only for the dish I had. Unfortunately it was more of a mixture of an omelette and pancakes

Super nice people, you feel like you're at home

Today, on a great sunny day, we were in the cafe/restaurant and had cake and hot chocolate. The two homemade cakes were pure sin. The hot chocolate as it should be. The view from the terrace is unbeatable and the other cakes also looked delicious. We received a very friendly welcome in the cafe/restaurant. We felt very comfortable and would love to come back. But... I would like to mention the pricing as a negative point. You could think about that a bit.

Fantastic! The sun shines on your face while the children go sledding. A great toboggan run, a swing and a slide. Perfect for a family trip. Food was also super tasty. Since it was self-service I can't say anything about the service.

There were two of us today (alone in the entire restaurant), but after our first order no one asked if we wanted something to drink or eat for an hour. Too bad

Part 2: About 10 minutes later the boss came to us and spoke to us about our criticism, and we told her the same thing. They also asked us for a second helping, another drink or an ice cream. Since we're not interested in getting something for free, but rather in a good price-performance ratio and a nice, cozy evening, we politely declined. Especially since none of our family would have wanted a second helping because of the taste (because of the pepper and oil). By the way, the boss explained to us that the prices came about because after all they were a restaurant and not a hut or alpine and there were tablecloths on the tables (I really had to suppress my laughter at this argument, especially since the tablecloth had wax stains (Then you can also expect a clean table given the prices). Many huts also have tablecloths and the demand is not right and the price-performance ratio is right probably We were still lucky that we didn't have to pay for an additional plate and cutlery (they have read previous reviews), that was probably our discount and We just wanted to draw attention to this with our review: be careful at this location. It's better to go to the more upscale restaurants, where you get ambience, taste and decent portions for your money, or in one of the beautiful, rustic huts/alps on or on the mountain, which really still have charm like the Karatbichl, an old hut with a history that opens up u really want to be a restaurant u want to keep up with the big guys but can't do it. And we cannot recommend the torchlight hike as long as it goes to this location. The tourism association should choose another destination where participants do not feel like they have been caught on a coffee trip. We have been coming to Oberstdorf every year since 2015 and this time we were there for 11 days. During this time we tested some Käsespätzle and can always recommend the following: Schrattenwang-Alpe, Edmund Probst Haus, Faistenoy, Alpe Dornach, Käsespätzlegondel and Löwen Strauss . As proof, see our photos. Reference to the comment in the first part of our review. Ms. Althaus. Please stick to the truth. They put the word around in our mouths. Very bad business practice Point 1: We ate up because we were hungry and throwing it away was out of the question given the prices (we also wrote that in the review!). Point 2: We mentioned in our review that you offered us a second helping, etc. and also that we rejected it because that wasn't what we were interested in. It is impertinent to claim that we were not “satisfied” with your accommodation. But do you want more of something that doesn't taste good or stay longer somewhere where you feel like you're being ripped off? Point 3: There was a lot going on everywhere in Oberstdorf, but we were never treated so badly and unprofessionally at any location. We didn’t write anything about “kicking you out”! That's a lie from you! Point 4: Our table next door didn't like it either (we talked to each other a lot during the evening) Point 5: Other guests from the Fackel group left the restaurant well before us, we weren't the first. Point 6: We also didn't write anything about the fact that we were looking for cheese spaetzle for €10, that's a lie too! But there are a thousand times better things for less money (max. 15 € including salad and as a huge, perfectly flavored portion!), including on the mountain. All that matters to us is the price-performance ratio and that is not what we find here. All the best in maintaining these business practices.

Rip-off: Coffee ride with a difference, instead of bus ride and carpets there was a torchlight hike with overpriced and not tasty Kasspatzen On January 2nd, 2025 we visited as part of a torchlight hike (organized by the Oberstdorf Tourism Association, costs money, there is a torch or lantern that you are not allowed to keep and if you want to leave the location beforehand, you have to walk home in the dark without a torch , so be sure to pack a light source) the location “Karatsbichl”. We were really looking forward to this, as we saw a report about this location on SWR television. With huge portions, delicious Kasspatzen and a nice ambience. But what we experienced here was the opposite. We were crammed into the guest room with 40 people, which was still completely full with other guests who did not take part in the torchlight hike. Even though the location knew we were coming. The previous guests did or had to?! Then we left the location more or less quickly so that we could take a seat. (This torchlight hike with Kasspatzen food is a recurring event and not a one-off event). Already here you could tell that the location keeps every paying guest until the last minute (which gives the impression that it's all about making money). We sat down with 2 adults and 2 children. Since our children don't always eat everything and they're not always that hungry, we only ordered 3 portions of the Kasspätzle (according to the TV it should be huge and you can expect something given the prices, right?!) and a small mixed salad . U each a drink. In contrast to the food, the prices are hearty! So we were looking forward to the huge portion of cheese spaetzle and a delicious fresh salad shown on SWR. Cheese spaetzle €17.90/portion, side salad €6.90/portion. What came next was mockery. As expected, according to the SWR report, the 3 portions of cheese spaetzle came in a bowl. Unfortunately, this bowl's portion wasn't even half of what was shown on TV for 4 people. None of us were full (aside from that, the spaetzle was over-peppered, was swimming in oil/fat and didn't taste good). We say, "Hunger drives it down and after all it's expensive". The small side salad consisted of 3 lettuce leaves and canned salads. The drink prices (e.g. 0.5l apple spritzer for €5.30, beer is cheaper at €5), like the rest of the dishes on the menu, are 10% higher than the prices of the more upscale restaurants in Oberstdorf and even the prices on the Huts (you really have to bring everything up the mountain, so you're happy to pay a little more, but that little extra is still 10% below the prices for this location). But the taste and quantity can't keep up. When the waitress came some time after we had finished eating and asked how it tasted, we spoke honestly and said that we were more than disappointed. The portions are far too small, expensive, the taste is not good and the salad is not fresh. We asked for the bill. As I said, 3 portions of cheese spaetzle, 1 small side salad and 4 drinks  €85.90 and a big hole in your stomach and wallet. Part 1 end, see part 2 I'm laughing my ass off at F. VERY GOOD cake! 5€ seems like a lot at first, BUT the size is adjusted to the price and the taste is very very good! Even the liver dumpling soup was homemade and really tasty; Tables were specially stripped again, wiped down because there was still night frost on the tables; Very nice !

A very nice atmosphere with a wonderful view towards the Nebelhorn. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Menu varied, there is something for everyone. There is also a playground with slides, a family atmosphere 👍

Urgemütlich ein paar Minuten ausserhalb von Oberstdorf gelegen, aber ein paar Minuten (zu Fuß), die den Weg lohnen. Dringende Empfehlung: Reservierung. Es war ein Samstag abend, dann gibts immer Kässpatzen, deswegen geht man da zu diesem Zeitpunkt hin. Und ich war mal wieder nicht enttäuscht. Service schnell, aufmerksam, super freundlich, da fühlt man sich wohl, bei der Einrichtung auch. Und die Kässpatzen sind wie immer sehr fein gewesen, es war ein prima leckerer, entspannter Abend. Dazu noch Bier aus der Brauerei Weiler, das findet man in der Gegend eher selten, auch das ist es wert, hier hinzugehen, Paulaner und co find man überall :)

For us a classic when visiting Oberstdorf. Great old restaurant. Terrace with a view. The fresh trout, the Kaiserschmarren and the Käsespätzle are particularly good, but are only available if ordered in advance.

Attention: reservation required! After we just wanted to eat a cake and didn't make a reservation, the landlady really rudely 'took us out'. There is a certificate of 'family-friendly accommodation' hanging in the basement - unfortunately we couldn't confirm that. It's a shame, because the ambience inside and the Alpine panorama outside are beautiful and the cake was excellent. But the hospitality needs to be worked on urgently. Very expensive in terms of price.

One of the best restaurants for us in and around Oberstdorf! Why? There is still honest, traditional cuisine here. No unhealthy fries from the deep fryer, just boiled potatoes! Trout, it could hardly be fresher. Lamb from our own stock. After the meal, you will happily remember the great visit to the restaurant for days afterwards. In that case, I don't care about the price. The ambience and service are also good. Down to earth and warm!

We have been here several times and each time we enjoy the delicious, traditional and homemade food and of course the incredibly great location. You can tell how much passion goes into this family business and how lovingly everything is designed. There is a nice playground for the little ones. We look forward to next time!

It's like so often: You get the feeling that no one really wants to sell anything anymore. Although the prices now require explanation! Although the location, ambience and facilities would allow it. The little ones have a slide and swing, an Alpine panorama for everyone and really delicious cakes. But the service once again suggests quick withdrawal. Germs inquiries, no hello, no goodbye, no response. #Gastrozombies

We were here for dinner. The menu is very short, but the dishes are more interesting and traditional. There was also something for our children. The schnitzels are great, the lamb is tender and aromatic. All desserts (apricot roasters!!) were out of this world. But we missed the sauce for the dishes with potatoes. At the end we were left with dry potatoes. Everything else was great, including the service and the location in the middle of nature. The prices are high, but you can taste the high quality of the ingredients and preparation.

Stopped in for the first time and enjoyed cappuccino and homemade cuisine. Both were good, but the prices were definitely too high. Organic and regional can also be affordable. The first and last time for us.

Nice to see, nice service, great ambience and great warehouses. But way too expensive. Please do not give the reason that energy costs have increased. My gas and electricity prices went down significantly again. Nevertheless, it was nice there, but it will also be the last time.

We can also contribute from our experience from last year that the prices are set too high relative to the performance. We had trout for €28 and a piece of trout fillet for almost €17, probably even more expensive now. If you want to sit in a deck chair on the terrace, you pay a €2 fee.

Simply overpriced. Normal spaetzle was advertised as a specialty with bread (ordered for 4 people) and then a pot full came. Unfortunately there was very little cheese in it and the bread was allocated 3 slices for 4 people. Asked normally and again only got three slices. Ordered water with syrup for the child (more expensive than beer) and it was very economical and hardly tasted. Bill for 3 adults and one drink each 103.70. Children were not discounted even when asked. For 80,- pasta with a little cheese is a bit excessive!

10,80 € für eine Scheibe Brot mit Käse! Bei solchen Preisen hat man meiner Meinung nach jegliches Gefühl von Anstand gegenüber seinen Gästen verloren. Die Einrichtung ist auch nichts Besoneres, alte Hütten habe ich schon schöner gesehen. Die Preise sind wirklich unverschämt. Nie wieder!

Great mountain panorama from the winter garden, terrace and deck chairs (€2 extra). Delicious, homemade cake (€5.20!). The prices for the hearty dishes seem very high to us. We noticed this last year, when there was no VAT increase. The fact that there is another way is shown by the better price-performance ratio of other restaurants in Oberstdorf and the surrounding area, which also feel connected to the region's good producers and their staff.

Great place to relax with beautiful mountain views. There is a lot for the little ones to play inside and outside. The deduction for food is because of the prices... it's really expensive, just under 5 euros for a piece of cake.
