Café-Restaurant Auguste Victoria in Marl

The café is almost always understaffed. Even a reservation is pointless if you then have to wait an hour for your table to be set and ultimately do everything yourself. They urgently need to hire more staff, especially on holidays when they expect a lot of customers. Of course, someone can always call in sick at short notice, but a café needs a replacement.

I'm giving 5 stars today! But not for the food, but for the service and the guests. We had reserved a table for 11 people for coffee on Christmas Day and also pre-ordered a cake platter. When we arrived, the table wasn't set at all. The server apologized and explained that her colleague had called in sick at the last minute. She was obviously completely overwhelmed. But she kept smiling and always had a witty remark ready.

Good, affordable food, sufficient portions – great if you're alone and want something like roulades, for a good price.

The ambiance isn't as chic as a café, but the staff is friendly and, especially on Wednesdays, the waffles are delicious. Even if it takes a while when there's only one server on site, it's highly recommended.

Recently, we had a pork roast without the crackling, and today we had a potato dumpling dish without the dumplings. Unfortunately, in times of COVID-19, when you pick up the packed food, you only realize something's wrong when you get home.

Ideal for lunch or a coffee, cheap and very friendly staff

Restaurant ist im Gebäude des Altenheims. Dort kann man täglich Frühstück, Mittagessen, Kaffee und Kuchen genießen. Gemütliche Einrichtung, Service in Ordnung, Preise sehr moderat. Wir waren sehr zufrieden.
