Cafe Moritz in Lichtenfels

A surprisingly diverse and imaginative menu, great dishes - although they also have their price - and unobtrusive, friendly service. Really recommended.

Ambience is quite nice, service good 👍 Unfortunately, the food was a bit disappointing, but for the price you could expect a little more freshness. The plates (breakfast) were prepared (probably a day before), which was clearly visible in the vegetables. Unfortunately, the salt sticks were already put into the spreads during preparation, so that they were completely soggy. In addition, we (4 people) didn't like the spread (mango curry and lemon pepper) at all -> but of course that's absolutely a matter of taste. Unfortunately, the cappuccino wasn't as good as we had hoped because it was so hot that it had to be left standing for a while. And last but not least, I would like to mention the price for the still water (carafe): €6.50 for 1 liter (it was probably just tap water, because nothing else was shown on the menu) —> absolutely no go! All in all, I probably wouldn't go there a second time.

Excellent quality at reasonable prices - whether breakfast, warm food, cake. Changing lunch dishes (also vegetarian) cater to customer requests wherever possible. Good service.

Hier bekommt zum zum etwas hochpreisigen Frühstück mit Minisemmeln nicht mal eine Tasse Kaffee dazu. Wenn man dann sich einen Kaffee extra bestellt ist man schnell über 15.- € pro Frühstück!

We were in Lichtenfels as tourists. Great and varied menu with offers that you can't get everywhere. The quality of the food on offer is good to very good, but the prices are definitely high. We were a bit surprised because there are other places or cities that are associated with higher prices. Since I only have to rate the food, service and ambience, I give it just 4 stars.

People still really cook here. Without bags and flavor enhancers!!! Everything fresh and prepared with love. Price/performance ratio great.

We only had a cold drink. The cleared next table was sprayed with a spray bottle and wiped down. The wind probably caused the atomizer spray to get on my sunglasses that were lying on our table. Unfortunately, it wasn't until the evening that I realized that the entire layer had dissolved when I took one glass. That could only have come from that spray (whatever was in there). Unfortunately, since we were just passing through, I couldn't complain there anymore.

Beginnen wir mit dem Positiven. Den Mitarbeiterinnen und Mitarbeitern. Ein ganz dickes Lob an diese (und natürlich auch ein Trinkgeld). Die Begriffe Freundlichkeit, Höflichkeit, Beflissenheit sind hier keine Worte sondern werden gelebt. Von der Aufnahme der Bestellung bis zum Servieren. Immer ein Lächeln, kein Augenrollen bei einem extra Wunsch. Wirklich schön. Wo Licht ist, ist auch Schatten. Der beginnt bei der Bestuhlung. Wir saßen im Freien unter dem Vordach. Hier war es so eng, dass man die Gäste am Nebentisch bitten musste zur Seite zu rücken wenn man selbst aufstehen musste. (Und nein. Ich habe keine Adipositas) Weiter geht es mit dem Rauchen. Auch wenn es im Freien ist könnte der Inhaber vielleicht doch mal darüber nachdenken, einen Bereich für Nichtraucher zu markieren. Wenn stinkende Nebelschwaden von Nachbartischen über das eigene Essen wabern, hat das Cafe schnell den Charme einer Pennerkneipe. Über das Essen herrschten Zweigeteilte Meinungen an unserem Tisch. Während die einen meinten die Schnitzel erinnern an alte Schuhsohlen war die Salatfraktion ganz zufrieden. Eventuell ist dies aber auch von der Tagesform des Küchenpersonals abhängig. Zu guter Letzt noch ein Wort zu den Preisen. Gesalzen. Das trifft es am Besten. Leider steht die Qualität der Speisen im Gegensatz zum Preis. Hier sollte eine Anpassung nach unten vorgenommen werden. Wahrscheinlich arbeitet der Inhaber nach dem Motto: So lange der Laden läuft wird abkassiert. Aber wie lange noch? P.S. Eine Alternative ist das Weinhaus "Alter Fritz". Auch nicht billig. Aber von weit besserer Essensqualität.

Rarely eaten so well! Huge portions well prepared. And the taste is a dream! Price wise it's not low budget - but the food is worth the price. The service was TOP. We were there with our two small children and grandmother and we all felt very well served. Many thanks to the whole team - everything from the food to the service was great

Excessive prices. After a mishap happened, the staff left us with spilled coffee and broken glass and was extremely unfriendly when we collected the money. Apart from high chairs and a baby mini milk drink, it is more than not suitable for children.

Were there for breakfast with two adults and two children. Very friendly service. Everything was very nicely prepared and delicious. However, it is very expensive. Unfortunately, price-performance wasn't quite right for us.

Visited often in the past. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio is no longer right for me at all. I can't ignore the argument about calculations and increased prices because the other restaurants don't charge €27 for a burger with sweet potato fries. It's a shame.

Visited this cafe today, as is often the case. We wanted to make ourselves comfortable outside, chose a place and were about to sit down when a seemingly very “experienced waitress” (employee) ran towards us and asked us if we had reserved. We said no and were, in our opinion, rudely directed to a sign above the entrance door that you should first contact the staff before taking a seat! If the sign is so important to the operators, it should perhaps be placed so that it can be seen immediately when entering the outdoor area. Yes, sorry, we've been here several times and just picked a place if we didn't have a reservation. Also on this day we observed that many other guests also came and simply sat outside! One couple even changed tables three times without any contact from or to the staff. It's a shame that such a great atmosphere and such good food that you treat yourself to every now and then are negatively influenced by such behavior from an employee. The young ladies who served us were friendly. This experience can probably also be attributed to the unfortunately existing “skilled labor shortage”. A PITY.

The atmosphere at the market was nice. The quality of the breakfast was okay, but I wasn't impressed, especially with the portion size. I also found prices for Lichtenfels to be a bit too high. We all found the service to be quite rude and not at all warm. I wouldn't go to Café Moritz again.

We found the café by chance on Google and wanted to try it out. I can only recommend the café to everyone. We were super surprised by the huge selection of different breakfasts. I was able to eat a complete vegan breakfast here. With very tasty hot chocolate with oat milk. And there was a completely vegan breakfast. Everything was freshly prepared and tasted excellent. Only healthy and vegan ingredients. The muesli was also very nicely prepared and left nothing to be desired. The price was also very good. The conditions were also very fast and very friendly. I can only recommend this cafe to everyone. Always my pleasure.

I’m writing this for the manager: teach your waiters to communicate politely with customers. We ordered drinks and then the waitress told us that we had better go to another cafe! Thank you, we had a great meal in another cafe! I've been to your cafe many times before, but now never again.

You can have a delicious breakfast here... definitely worth a visit... and the filter coffee is hand-brewed by Dinzler... so delicious 😋 😋 😋 😋

When a football game is more important than serving your guests.

Very good food and drinks. Not off the shelf but also different. Be sure to try the warm sandwiches! Fast service and a nice boss who knows how to do it! Every now and then there is live music upstairs or outside. It's very nice to sit, partly covered, right on the market square. Breakfast is very good and almost always fully booked. So be sure to reserve! It is worth it .. The quality of the rolls could still be worked on and the pricing of the delicious cocktails is also a mystery to me. But the ambience makes up for it. People like to sit here and enjoy..... Addendum: Unfortunately the prices have now gone way up... ;-( Addendum II: Prices have been increased again. It is now significantly cheaper in comparable restaurants in Munich, Garmisch or Zell am See. The question arises as to “why”? Visitors are also decreasing... for reasons. Too bad ;-(

It was our first time at Café Moritz and we were thoroughly satisfied. Delicious, varied breakfast. Thanks to the different combinations, everyone should be able to find what they are looking for. The cappuccino was also very tasty!

Café Moritz, right next to the historic town hall in the heart of Lichtenfels, is for me the best café here in the city. Beautiful ambience, large outdoor area with a view of the town hall and market square, friendly and competent staff, super delicious and freshly prepared breakfast/lunch with ingredients from the region. Even a demanding reservation that had to be changed twice within 15 minutes is treated politely and respectfully. I always enjoy coming back and look forward to the next time.

Very good quality food on offer, except for the toasted bread with egg dishes. This is not a pleasure. The price level is relatively high, at least that's how I feel. But all in all we can recommend Café Moritz!!

Munich-Schwabing??? You might think so when you see the juicy PRICES here. But actually it is ONLY the market square in Lichtenfels. €8.20 for 0.2l lemonade & 1 cup of coffee Mind you, there was only Add 1 packet of sugar. ☝🏻👀 I was too embarrassed to ask. Sugar probably costs another €0.50 (I skipped that) 😅👎🏼 If you eat here you should have a big wallet! 👉🏼 €16.40 for gnocci with wild garlic 😂 Next door is the noise from the construction site At least it's free! The service also had no enthusiasm and placed the drinks correctly listlessly on the shaky table. NEVER AGAIN. Better go around the corner and get a Kaffee2Go at Fuchs-Korn. 😉 This is pathetic and extortionate!!!

Good food but the service needs help. Ordered 5 dishes and they forgot two of them. When three of us had finished eating, the 4th plate arrived and the 5th wasnt available anymore. Two stars because the food was ok, but the service….

the prices have risen quite high. Having to pay €7 for a waffle with Nutella is more than excessive. Update: today the waffle costs €10!!! That's a 50% price increase within 10 months. This is usury. Bread 18€ - for that you get a sauerbraten! I definitely won't come here again.

If you're not just looking for coffee and cake here, but also want to have a real full meal, you'll have to dig a little deeper into your pockets. But you also get exquisite things. For example, in my photo you can see Polo Polo - essentially a plate of spaghetti with excellent sauce, but garnished with a large amount of thick, delicate strips of meat. You really get full here! And I can also warmly recommend the cappuccino.

Were there today about 2 hours before our reservation but there was no problem and we were greeted very friendly. The food and the service were just great, only the price was very high but the really delicious food makes you ignore it - you don't go out to eat every day. Nevertheless we will come back.

The café itself is really nicely decorated, the staff is always friendly and the food is delicious. BUT: You seem to be slowly forgetting that the café is in Lichtenfels and not in a big city. The prices are now simply far too high to simply go out for something to eat or drink. Many of our friends don't go there anymore because they pay over 20 euros for a burger, pasta or schnitzel. And we simply don't want to pay over 5 euros for a cappuccino. It's a shame, because we were loyal customers for years and with 2-3 euros less, many people would probably come by more often (including us).

Das Ambiente ist auch eine Augenweide 😍 - Toiletten Hygienisch, Räumlichkeiten schön gestaltet und absolut sauber. Personal total freundlich, hofflich mit einem Augenzwinkern - sehr toll ❤️. Is nicht mein Geschmack das Frühstück, is mir zu abgehoben . Speisen waren sehr gut ,Personal schnell und nett. Für mich Kakao Trinker eine Tasse Heise Schokolade über 5€ ,find ich schon etwas heftig.

Das Restaurant ist sehr gemütlich. Sowohl eine große Auswahl an Getränken, als auch an Gerichten ist vorhanden. Hier findet jeder was für sich, ob vegan, vegetarisch oder mit Fleisch! Preislich gesehen liegt das Restaurant etwas teuerer. Die Getränke und das Essen kamen ohne lange Wartezeiten. Das Personal war sehr freundlich. Ich würde in diesem Restaurant erneut einkehren.

Sehr freundliche Bedienung. Wir wurden schnell bedient. Große Auswahl an vielen Leckereien. Schwer sich zu entscheiden. Wir haben drei verschiedene Kuchen gewählt. Alle drei köstlich. Tiramisu und Himbeerschnitte fand ich am besten. Kommen definitiv wieder!

Leider waren wir nicht überzeugt. Angefangen bei einer Kellnerin, die von Anfang an negativ auffiel und sich dieses wie ein roter Faden durch den Aufenthalt zog! Wenn nach einem separaten Teller 3 mal gefragt werden muss, bis dieser dann zähneknirschend ausgehändigt wird - kann einem das Essen vergehen. Im Anschluss wurde hinter dem Tresen über die Kunden herablassend geredet. Leider ist auch die Preisgestaltung nicht besonders kundenfreundlich oder leicht verständlich. Das essen eher überschaubar - dafür sehr teuer, keine frischen Brötchen (zumindest schmeckten diese nicht so) vom Bäcker sondern einfache zum aufbacken. Positiv zu erwähnen waren die Wartezeiten, alles ging fix und es konnte zusammen gegessen werden. Kunde ist König, denn er zahlt Ihren Lohn!

Freundlicher Service. Das Ambiente, egal ob drinnen oder draußen, lädt zum verweilen ein. Das Essen, egal ob Frühstück, Mittag-, oder Abendessen kann man empfehlen.

Alles hat gepasst. Nettes Personal, guter Wein, sehr leckeres Essen, keine lange Wartezeit, zufällig mit Live-Musik! War sehr schön!
