Cafe Del Sol in Lübeck

We visited Café Del Sol today and had an all-around fantastic visit. We'd especially like to mention our waitress, Amalia, who was friendly and accommodating – we immediately felt at home. We had the Schnitzel Del Sol and the Mushroom Schnitzel – both were truly delicious! The food arrived very hot and fresh, the sauces and dips were excellent, and the schnitzels were juicy and not at all dry. The fries were also perfect – crispy but not overly seasoned. Kudos to the kitchen! All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable visit – we'd love to come back!

One employee in particular, with her signature braided hair, never fails to impress us: She's the heart of the place – organized, attentive, friendly, and simply the sweetest! Although it's often busy, she keeps an eye on everything, exudes calm, and creates an atmosphere where you immediately feel welcome. And the best part: The entire team is on board! Everyone is friendly, responsive, and super on the ball – a true dream team. Whether it's for a quick coffee, a leisurely breakfast, or simply a break from everyday life – Café Del Sol is our absolute feel-good spot in Lübeck. And that's thanks to people like her who make this place so special. Thank you – we'll be happy to come back!

Unfortunately, the purple-haired, overweight waitress wasn't able to push two tables together, so we had to do it ourselves. Multiplying wasn't her strong suit either. Luckily, the food made up for everything :)

Four women and I came to your place for breakfast on Saturday, July 19, 2025. I have to say, from the welcome, to the free space on your gorgeous outdoor terrace, to your incredibly friendly waitresses, to the truly sumptuous breakfast (if you think that's a little cheesy, it's your own fault), it was so relaxing and pleasant for us to sit with you, chat, and even laugh with your staff. A thoroughly enjoyable morning – and we actually stayed with you until after 2 p.m. (from 9 a.m.) *laughs*. This was definitely not the last time, thank you very much!

I recently visited Café del Sol in Lübeck with my wife on a warm summer evening and would like to share my impressions here. Location and Ambience Café del Sol is located at Stockelsdorfer Straße 1, conveniently located directly off the A1 motorway and in the immediate vicinity of two main roads. Visually, the light-filled colonial-style villa is reminiscent of a Spanish hacienda: colorful tiles, wooden details, and tropical plants immediately create a holiday atmosphere. We sat on the covered and heated veranda, which accommodates up to 180 guests in the summer. While it overlooks the neighboring Lidl parking lot and the fire department access road, this is precisely where the potential for optimization lies: A row of bamboo or decorative privacy screens would draw the view into the greenery and make the Caribbean flair even more authentic. Accessibility and Parking The entrance is step-free and wheelchair-accessible, as well as suitable for strollers. Plenty of free parking is available right outside the door – for cars, motorcycles, and bicycles. Several Tesla charging stations have been newly installed, allowing electric car drivers to conveniently combine their charging break with a drink or snack. Food and Service The menu, available from 9 a.m. to midnight, offers a concentrated holiday feeling: crisp salads, hearty burgers, and creative side dishes. This evening, we chose a mixed salad, a BBQ burger, and the very popular avocado fries. Everything was freshly prepared, well-seasoned, and visually appealing – even if the burger patty was pre-made, it's one of the better examples of its kind. The service team was attentive and friendly at all times, without being intrusive. Prices and Conclusion The prices are reasonable, allowing you to relax and enjoy your meal without having to worry about your wallet. I give the ambiance and location 3.5 out of 5 stars, and the quality and service even 4 out of 5 stars. Overall, a successful evening – we'd be happy to come back.

Stopped to charge the Tesla, so we went to Cafe Del Sol 😊 Super atmosphere, cozy place and friendly service, with delicious dishes for every taste 😊 We ate ice cream, drank coffee and got to charge both ourselves and the car battery 😊

A visit to Café del Sol is always worthwhile! The team is one of the reasons: dedicated, super-friendly, and always service-oriented. Compliments! Plenty of parking makes getting there completely hassle-free – even at busy times – and the ambiance is high-quality and inviting. The food is more than okay – although economic necessity is also noticeable here, meaning that some portions have become significantly smaller, while prices have remained the same or increased. That's not a bad thing per se; the restaurant industry hasn't had it easy in recent years. Nevertheless, it's noticeable... In my opinion, this impression doesn't diminish the recommendation to visit at all. So – go there 😉

Nice atmosphere from the start, welcoming also to our dog. We ordered food and drinks and it came pretty quickly. Deliciously prepared and everything tasted great. There were 4 of us, got Greek salad, schnitzel and burgers etc. All the while the car (also) was fully charged. Highly recommend the place!

Unfortunately, I can't comment on the food or drinks because the service was terrible. No one seemed interested in taking our order. A waitress came by and said she would be back to wipe the tables, but ten minutes later no one had returned, so we left.

It's actually cozy, but unfortunately, you can't hear yourself inside. Soundproofing is definitely lacking. The staff is very friendly and attentive, and the food is also excellent.

Chili cheese burger with fries. The fries were pretty good, but the burger could have been better at any takeaway. Service took quite a while.

The food is okay. Pushy requests for tips when paying by card. Poor hygiene. Dirt, dust, and cobwebs accompany the meal. There's room for improvement here. Update June 16, 2025: Dirt and dust removed, and everything clean. Unfortunately, the hidden request for tips is still there at the card terminal.

The food is really good – kudos to the kitchen! Unfortunately, there are a few things that somewhat dampen the overall experience: The music is often very loud inside, making conversation difficult. It would actually be nice to sit outside, but the smoke is annoying there, as so many guests smoke. I generally find the digital ordering system at the tables practical, but it doesn't always work reliably – for example, the signal that you want to pay is often missed by the service staff. It would also be nice to have more options when ordering, such as changing the bun on a burger.

We love going there as a family every now and then. Everything tastes amazing, and we ALWAYS have to finish with a lava cake... I love it ❤️

It would be great for some soundproofing, which is available for walls and ceilings, as it gets very loud when there's more activity, music, and social gatherings. Delicious Sunday brunch and great service

I thought the food and service were really good. It's a shame that it's so incredibly loud and difficult to understand the person speaking to. Therefore, only 3 stars for the ambiance.

We went there for breakfast with several people during the week and ordered from the menu. We had breakfast for two people, and it was plentiful. Everything was there: salmon, cold cuts, salad, ground beef, egg, etc. It tasted great and was beautifully presented. The service staff was friendly and attentive. It was good value for money.

We were here last night. We had teriyaki ribs and schnitzel del sol (turkey), both with fries. My ribs were cooked well. The meat came off the bone easily. The schnitzel was very good and flavorful. The fries themselves were freshly prepared. However, I personally found them too dry. (A matter of taste.) A quick tip for the ribs: If you serve the ribs, briefly place them on the grill/pan so they get some color and roasted flavor. It definitely makes the whole dish even better.

We decided to have lunch here on a spur of the moment. The service was very dedicated and we were served quickly. The food was good. I don't really like the concept of the chain. I found it again very loud and a little "dirty", even when the tables were wiped with a damp cloth. But it was completely okay for a spontaneous, quick lunch.

We were there for dinner with a larger group. Unfortunately, I was personally very disappointed with the food I ordered, a currywurst. Simply placed on the plate, few fries, little curry powder and nothing served. The ketchup had a hella taste, exactly the kind that I don't like at all. The sausage also appeared to be small. Everything is priced in the high range. The restaurant itself is quite nice, but it's too loud to have a conversation. By the way, everyone thought so. The restaurant manager is a bit brash and looks for faults in the customer. There is a bit of a lack of structure and specialist staff here.

On a trip to Lübeck, I noticed this restaurant as I was driving past, then I remembered my visit to Cafe Del Sol in Bremen-Obervieland in 2014. Since I liked the food and liked the colonial style, I later took a closer look online at the Lübeck location. First, I discovered that Cafe Del Sol was a chain with locations from Flensburg to Bayreuth. Then, hoping for burgers, I looked at the menu at the Lübeck location and found a burger category; I settled on the "BBQ Bacon Burger" (beef patty, bacon strips, BBQ sauce, red onions, arugula, tomato, cucumber, burger sauce and brioche bun) with fries and mayonnaise and a sugar-free Sinalco Cola. In addition to burgers, the menu included, among other things: Breakfast offerings, sandwiches, pinsas and meat dishes. The "Southern Steak" that I ate in Bremen in 2014 was no longer offered. Finally, a look at the reviews: Yelp: 3.0 stars from 21 reviews Google: 4.2 stars from 3,426 reviews Facebook (for Cafe Del Sol overall): no reviews, 91,043 likes The high numbers on Google and Facebook made a good impression. When I arrived on a summer afternoon, the restaurant was busy both indoors and outdoors, but since there were a lot of seats, there was still plenty available. I found a table indoors overlooking the covered patio; this sight reactivated memories of the Cafe Del Sol in Bremen. A pretty waitress took my order, I ordered the burger with extra cheese. I received my drink promptly and my food followed about 10 minutes later. The burger was made with a soft brioche bun and a well-seasoned patty; During the first few bites, my impression was that the BBQ sauce, tomato slice and cucumber slices were too dominant in relation to the bacon, but after eating the tomato slice and cucumber slices, the taste experience improved. A good burger, I would have just liked it to be a little more American style. The fries were crispy and very tasty with the mayonnaise. After dinner I treated myself to an espresso. I paid my pretty waitress €25.90 plus a 10% tip via debit card. I can only recommend Cafe Del Sol in Lübeck. It can be reached both via Stockeldorfer Straße and from the other side from Krempelsdorfer Allee via the Lidl car park.

Very tasty, but unfortunately very loud, the acoustics are very poorly designed. You can hardly understand each other or the people sitting next to you, but everyone else is shouting very loudly, probably to compensate for this. The food was very good, the service was friendly, competent and helpful. “Schnitzel Satt” really means “Schnitzel Satiety”. You can reorder until you can't anymore. Unfortunately, it's a bit noisy there overall. The location between the motorway and two main roads is not really idyllic either. You can park well and for free. The fact that some people don't understand that you park between the lines always amazes me. But the café can't do anything about it.

The breakfast is very rich and there is a great selection. The price is fair and due to the distribution of the buffet, the number of guests flows quite well even when there are larger crowds. The service is always friendly and usually very quick. We always like to come here for breakfast! The menu in the evening is also good, there is something for everyone and we have only had good experiences there so far.

(10/04/25) Very good location for Lübeck. Very clean, spacious. Good food options and friendly service. Portion okay and price in the normal standard range. The outdoor area is great in summer and the good connection to the motorway saves stress when getting there. There are enough parking spaces and the adjacent Lidl car park is happy to help. One of the few restaurants in Lübeck that you can easily visit. Keep it up!

Very good and highly recommended brunch buffet on Sundays...be sure to reserve a table in advance. However, it's very loud in the larger room, which is really annoying. Drinks are charged separately and sometimes take a while to arrive. We've been there several times now and will go again...it's worth it.

I have been with my family several times. We won't go again. The staff forgets or confuses part of the order. We took advantage of the special order - you eat and order another one, what we got with the next order was a disaster. The waiter also packed half of my burger to go - i.e. he put it in a box, with both parts of the bun on top! Some of the food we ordered was good, some was not. I don't recommend it, there are really nice, atmospheric places in Lübeck where you can eat well and be well served. Never again

After we visited two restaurants of this chain in Bremen and were very satisfied, the Café Del Sol in Lübeck was a bit disappointing. The portions were smaller compared to the Bremen ones and not quite as tasty. We were still full, but the usual finishing touch was missing. The atmosphere was, like all restaurants in this chain, very cozy. When we visited the restaurant was very busy and apparently there was a class evening or similar meeting taking place there. The volume was correspondingly. Despite this rush, the staff managed to serve everything quickly and professionally and were still very friendly.

Sunday breakfast brunch with reservation required and a maximum stay of 1 hour and 45 minutes. The service was extremely polite and the buffet offered a large selection - although of a fairly solid standard level. I was missing a particular highlight. The fresh, high-quality rolls and types of bread should be positively highlighted. Overall, however, the concept could use a refresh.

The local citizens are really a joke. Cost 11€ and you get a citizen slapped on it that looks like it comes from McDonald's, only with less sauce. In addition, every time you visit Cafe de Sol and eat there, your stomach goes crazy, so unfortunately we won't be guests there anymore.

Large restaurant with a terrace. Café del Sol is system gastronomy, which means that there are many similar restaurants with the same name all over Germany. The selection of food and drinks is large and the service is very friendly. On weekends you can eat brunch. But you should definitely make a reservation because it is always incredibly full. In the last few years I have visited the Lübeck Café del Sol at different times of the day and with different people or groups. The food and drinks were always delicious and impeccable. Unfortunately, due to the high ceilings, the volume has the character of a train station. Otherwise, full recommendation from me.

As with the other Cafe del Sol restaurants I visited, The waitresses were also very friendly in Lübeck. The food was good and very nicely prepared. Plus it tasted delicious. The waiting time from ordering until the food arrived was very manageable. The prices are completely okay.

The franchisees are known from many cities. Everything is too open for my taste, too high, too noisy and not enough private corners for chatting. Price-performance ratio is ok and if there is nothing better nearby, you can go there.

We have been going to Café del Sol for years and are always very satisfied, some of the waiters have been there for 10 years. This morning we were there again for the breakfast buffet and it was once again very tasty. The staff were very friendly and took photos of the guests at the next table because they had requested it. Now we had finished breakfast and went out to the swings and wanted to take a group photo of ourselves because it was my sister's birthday. Now there was no guest nearby who could take photos of us, so I sweetly asked an employee who was taking a break there at 11:10 a.m. if she could take a quick photo of us... she looked at me arrogantly and just said NO, her break was so short! Crazy, we thought we had misheard... we have never experienced anything like this in all our years at Café del Sol, as all the employees are really very friendly. The photo wouldn't have taken a minute! She sat next to us and watched us try to take a selfie.

Super nice there, in my opinion. The only point of criticism is that despite pre-ordering we (unfortunately) waited 2 hours for our dinner. There was a lot going on there, you can understand if it took a little longer, but it was a bit too long.

What really annoyed me is that I paid 34 euros for a schnitzel with fries, a large drink and a dessert and didn't get full. The food was delicious, I won't deny that at all, but if I order a main course for just under 19 euros, I don't want to be hungry afterwards. Everyone else at the table said that their schnitzel seemed to be really small compared to before. Even the dessert didn't save the whole thing. For a quick stop for a snack and a drink I can recommend Café del Sol, but for a whole dinner I will choose another place.
