Cafe Del Sol in Gelsenkirchen

We didn't enjoy our experience here at all. We were there on Friday, November 21st, with a group of 11. The large room is far too loud when it's as crowded as it was on a Friday evening. The building's design isn't ideal. On top of that, the music playing was quite unpleasant and made it even louder, as everyone was talking over it. It would be better to turn it off or at least play some quiet instrumental music. Sound absorbers on the ceiling would also be a good idea. The food arrived in shifts, so we all had to eat at different times. I've never experienced that when eating out as a group. There was about a 30-minute gap between the first and last dishes. Things kept arriving in between. That's far too long. Furthermore, some of the food was only lukewarm, and sometimes it was more cold than hot. Otherwise, the food tasted good. However, it was typical chain-restaurant quality, which isn't really worth the price. We were asked twice when the rest of the food would arrive. The drinks were a similar story. Several times something was missing and had to be brought out. The drinks were similarly unreliable. The service was poor that evening. It was rare for anyone to be available, and orders were constantly late or incomplete/arrived in stages. At times, we had to wave the servers to get them to come to our table. Clearing tables was also infrequent and very slow. Empty glasses sat for at least three hours. Otherwise, the servers were friendly. The table reservation was made by phone and went smoothly. Our table was ready upon arrival. Overall, however, we were disappointed and will definitely not be having our next team dinner there. We all work in the hospitality industry ourselves, so we know how things should be done.

All in all, it's okay from my perspective... It gets bonus points because even as a vegan, I have a good selection on the menu, and it's suitable for large groups with diverse dietary preferences, as the menu is quite varied. However, I found the food and service rather mediocre on both occasions. I had the curry vegetable bowl once. It was quite bland and, unfortunately, cold. The burger with fries was really heavy on my stomach. If I'm there again, I'll try the pinsa; maybe that will be a hit.

I want to say something about this. I ordered a latte macchiato, my father a tea, then the bill came: 8 euros. The waiter charged me 10 euros even though it only cost 8 euros. Taking a 2 euro tip from me seems pretty antisocial to me.

Filter coffee is not recommended. It tasted like it had been sitting for a long time and then reheated.

The Caesar salad was really delicious, but the ribs were just so-so.

Delicious schnitzel during your schnitzel holiday. They're tender, juicy, and freshly prepared. Friendly service and a cozy atmosphere. A great place to eat schnitzel, anyway. The Schnitzel del Sol is the most delicious. A real treat.

I'd eaten the delicious jalapeno burger on several visits and wanted it again. Unfortunately, I was given a vegan burger (blindly, without properly looking at the menu). Unfortunately, I realized it too late and was disgusted by the rubbery mass of the meat substitute. Sorry, but not with me. More and more delicious items are being removed. This change to the menu means I won't be going back to this restaurant.

Well, Café Del Sol is a chain, and overall, it's solidly mid-range. The interior is very large – and unfortunately, very loud. It's almost impossible to have a conversation, which makes romantic conversations or profound life analyses a bit difficult. The covered outdoor area, however, is much more relaxed. The drinks are okay, and the schnitzel isn't bad either. (The fact that you can eat as much as you want is definitely a nice touch that deserves special mention!) All in all, very solid, but not exceptional. Eating a schnitzel here when you're really hungry – it's always a good idea.

Once, and unfortunately never again. We were there on a Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. It started with tables still dirty from the day before, and the floor looked similar. We were initially the only customers. The waitress made it to our table after 20 minutes. After the first drink, we had to call for attention ourselves after an hour. Service was unfortunately poor. The bowl we both ordered was abysmal. I've already had the same one in Wattenscheid, and there was no comparison. See the photos. It didn't look like a bowl, nor was it appealing or tasty. See the photos. Horrible. We pointed this out, and it was apparently passed on to the kitchen. We weren't offered an alternative or anything similar. We were allowed to pay the full bill. I'm really disappointed and would never spend money here again, either professionally or personally.

I've been there several times, the atmosphere is as good as ever, and last time the service staff was really great 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 The waitress was really busy, but she was super friendly and genuine – that's how I always want it 😉 I'll definitely be back.

Just a quick heads-up: I'd love to give it 0 stars, but it's impossible. I visited the cafe with my girlfriend over the weekend, and we were not only deeply disappointed, but also lied to. After waiting about half an hour and receiving the empty promise that a waiter would come over, we left. You'll never see us there again!

Cozy café with warm lighting and a slightly tropical flair – palm trees, leaf decor, and a few rustic elements create a relaxed atmosphere. It was quite busy and therefore a bit noisy, but still pleasantly lively. The warm lighting makes you feel a bit sleepy, but it contributes to the feel-good atmosphere. The food was delicious: The BBQ bacon burger was excellent – ​​beautifully presented, juicy patty, robust BBQ sauce, and fresh, homemade fries. Only the pickles weren't quite right in terms of flavor. The Schnitzel del Sol was solid, but rather average. The service was excellent: friendly, attentive, and uncomplicated. Overall, a thoroughly pleasant visit – delicious food, lovely ambiance, and great service. The only downside: a bit noisy and the lighting a bit too warm. Still, absolutely recommended! 🌴🍔✨

A café or restaurant that's always worth a visit! It's not top-notch, but it's not bad either. The food is delicious, the staff is always friendly, and everything is fine.

It took me 16 minutes for a cocktail, and a non-alcoholic cocktail is smaller than one with alcohol. Wow. And then they even address you informally. The food came faster than the drinks. Only my partner got a drink. I had to wait another 8 minutes.

The service was good, but I personally thought the reduced selection of products due to the Pur concert was pretty crazy. I was looking forward to a delicious cocktail, but unfortunately, that didn't pan out. There were only three on the menu, and only one of them was alcoholic, and that was definitely not my thing. The restrooms were really disgusting. A "giant roll of toilet paper" was passed around the queue because there was nothing in the stalls.

I'd read some bad reviews beforehand, so I headed to Cafe de Sol with my daughter and partner to get a feel for it. We were greeted warmly at the bar and assigned a table, as is usual. I ordered a bacon burger and a Krombacher beer, a chocolate cake, a falafel with fries, an iced tea, and a large water. We were all satisfied. We had nice conversations with the waitresses. Everything was great! Everyone felt comfortable and would gladly come back. Don't let the reviews put us off.

On August 29, 2025, at approximately 3 p.m., my wife and my sister were at Café de Sol – and had to endure behavior that was absolutely unacceptable. The waiter offered her a drink without asking, forcing himself on her in a disrespectful manner that we clearly consider harassment. This kind of behavior is far from professional service and has no place in a reputable restaurant! Instead of caring for the guests, boundaries are being crossed – and in public. Even worse: The branch provided no clear response whatsoever. The fact that something like this is being downplayed or not taken seriously is a slap in the face to all guests who expect respect and safety. I expressly call on the manager/management of Café de Sol to take action and no longer tolerate this behavior. Until then, one thing is clear to us: Café de Sol – never again! The waiter's name: "Ism..."

The ambience is very great, as is the service, no matter where you sit, you feel at home, beautiful inside as well as outside, the food is fantastic, the meat is of very high quality and tasty, there is something for everyone when you look at the menu, you think there are so many different dishes that it can't be good, but everything there is good, drinks, there are lots of delicious desserts, the sauces are all good, the Champion schnitzel is particularly good, somehow I hate mushrooms, my friends do too, but this mushroom sauce with this schnitzel is word-consuming

Sucuk baked mini potatoes, sounds good at first... but it wasn't!! Six thin slices of sucuk including the other ingredients drowned in a plate half full of oil, inedible! After I complained, the very nice server called her boss. His suggestion: they could strain the oil in the kitchen and mix the ingredients, including the arugula, in the pan and fry them again... The oil problem would be due to the ingredients and is normal. After this offer, I don't think anything is normal anymore. And arugula in a pan is just not okay. Thank you very much!

This was nothing at all. The glasses were scratched, the food took forever to arrive despite moderate occupancy, and I only had currywurst with fries. The food tasted poor, the fries were unsalted, and everything was barely lukewarm. Given the prices they're charging these days, I expect significantly higher quality.

Yesterday, I went out to eat after a long time. It couldn't have been worse. The grease on the fries was old. The schnitzel was hard and dry. I won't even mention the service, there was no service. The prices... €81 for three people with drinks. No thanks.

The food was getting stale. Then the staff forgot half of it. The only tasty thing was the iced vanilla latte.

Delicious food, served quickly, lots of places to sit, for me, with a dog, it was important to sit totally relaxed.

Went there today as a couple. The order was prepared incorrectly in the kitchen. Once there were fries instead of fried potatoes and once there was completely the wrong meal. So unfortunately we had to eat separately. The worst thing, however: The schnitzel was made from molded meat (not stated on the menu) and, based on the breading and taste, it was the cheapest from the discounter around the corner. A compliment for the friendly service staff, unfortunately the disappointment with the food cannot be offset.

So the impression is that you can only eat two dishes anyway: Burger or Schnitzel. But the boss thinks her staff is good. Yes, 2 people are good but unfortunately not more than that. And the food isn't great either. You can go to the special newspaper or to a real restaurant where the selection is better. But the manager of the store doesn't work at all. And the staff somehow doesn't feel like it. You always have to pay up front and then people ask me why they always ask me. Yes, if you have a staff like that, you should get your act together. Even if you've finished your drink, you don't even want to ask anything else. So it's better to go somewhere else in Herne or somewhere else not in Gelsenkirchen in the Café Del Sol. And then there's the stupid saying from the boss where you paid to go to the toilet, but we're good. You have to ask yourself what kind of boss is she? It doesn't surprise me at all that the employees work slowly and you always have to pay in advance.

An absolute tip for connoisseurs! The Café Del Sol Gelsenkirchen II/Erle impresses in every respect. The food? Simply delicious, with fresh ingredients and lovingly prepared dishes that pamper the palate. The service? Friendly, attentive and always with a smile, you really feel valued as a guest here. And the ambience? Inviting, stylish and cozy at the same time, perfect for relaxing hours with good food and great conversations. It would be a disaster to find a parking space there on a Saturday, as there is essentially a Turkish bazaar in the parking lot of the Veltins Arena on Saturdays and the entire cultural group of visitors park in the catering parking lot. The only ones who are customer-oriented, which is the XIAO restaurant next door, because they have blocked off parking spaces for their customers! The Café del Sol management definitely needs to take action! Staff and breakfast were great.

A cozy del Sol in the heart of Erle. I prefer to visit it on the terrace in summer. The perfect place to spend an afternoon with friends or end the day with something delicious to eat and good cocktails. The service has always been top 👍🏼 a good choice in Gelsenkirchen.

Went for Sunday brunch with 9 people, everyone enjoyed it and the selection was large. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Can really recommend it.

We were there spontaneously for coffee and cake. Nice, quick service. The Café Creme tasted good. But... the piece of cheesecake tasted ok but was tiny. Unfortunately, the apple tart was refrigerator cold and rather watery on the inside. For each piece over 4 euros. Not for us again.

Was here for breakfast brunch. Unfortunately only 3 stars. Pay 20 euros extra for breakfast and coffee. That's not possible!!! 2 people 55 euros!!! Not even O Juice for free!!!
