Nice atmosphere. I ordered hummus and it was served beautifully. Others ordered spaghetti (delicious too, it was al dente).

Great ambience, delicious food and generous portions. The price-performance ratio is absolutely right. Particularly noteworthy is the friendly and advisory service. Gladly again!

The menus are extremely confusing and the food and drinks are all mixed up. The cards are written by hand and cannot be read without glasses.

Delicious food, nice staff, numerous chewing gum, food, knickknack sales car mats... Good mix of students, the young at heart, bon vivants and normal citizens...

Always been there as a child and is still one of the quaint cafés in Darmstadt today. The service is always polite and the food is delicious. Warm food is also available late at night :)

Extraordinary, but still something for everyone. The particularly distinctive menu allows even the most divisive guest to find something to eat, from pizza to tapas, cheese spaetzle or breakfast in the evening, everything is possible. In terms of price, we are in the completely reasonable middle class. The atmosphere is quaint and cozy, but you shouldn't be put off sharing a table with strangers as it is often busy in the evening. A particular highlight are the diverse machines with their content, which can sometimes be out of the norm. Clear recommendation for any discordant group, or anyone who just wants to enjoy their evening without a plan.

For €30 you get the following: Food was cold. Scrambled eggs, half liquid, with rolls from Rewe. Below average coffee in a cereal bowl. You could hardly even use the toilet. The cafe lives up to the name. 🤡

Disgraceful service: December 16, 2024 / 6 p.m., shift change: I am asked to pay my order in advance... I refuse. The problem: Food is being served and an uninvolved employee sitting at the counter with a laptop intervenes with the words "AFFIG"... I responded accordingly angrily. What's the point... respect for older people is probably unnecessary here...!?

Ein anderer Mitarbeiter (Tresen mit Laptop) mischte sich mit der unverschämten Bemerkung "AFFIG" ein... ich antwortete entsprechend böse. Als ehem. Mitarbeiter (1989) kann ich diese Location nicht mehr empfehlen... No Way I am comin back... Losers.

Quaint café and slot machine museum (and bar and much more, but we were only there for breakfast), very authentic! Relaxed staff, audience from young to old and very tasty food - lovingly prepared! The only small minus: only cash payment - generally not a problem, you just have to know beforehand.

We were there spontaneously a few days ago and we absolutely loved it. The food was very good and the price was completely reasonable. Ambiance was really nice. Great service!

I love chaos coffee. It is definitely one of my favorite places in Darmstadt. The service is 99% of the time excellent, even when there are many customers and the waiters have a lot to do. Sometimes my food has not arrived as I wanted (for example, something burnt or meaty) and the waiters always respond well and attend to my requests with great dedication. The food is very delicious, the price-quality ratio is definitely beneficial for the customer. The portions are large and very good. I love the variety on the menu. My favorites and recommendations are the Flammkuchen, the Bratkartoffeln and the Käsespätzle ;) The beer and wine are ok, good accompaniment. Kuchen and coffee also very delicious. Highly recommended!!!

I've often been to Cafe Chaos, I think it's so great here, it's a great atmosphere even if it gets crowded sometimes, especially at the weekend. Nevertheless, everyone is in a good mood. Simple cuisine with fair prices. But you can miss Pite. Will definitely come back.

The cafe is simply a permanent fixture. Nothing changes here. The furnishings, the food and the service have remained good for decades. Hopefully it will continue to be that way.

One of the coolest cafes in Darmstadt, where the owner has restored and installed old vending machines that now contain a smorgasbord of things you can buy there. These are constantly refilled, e.g. with sweets, finger puppets, toiletries, but also small toys for kids such as cars and other knick-knacks. For that alone it's worth walking down the somewhat narrow, winding stairs to the toilet and marveling at the wall of the vending machines. ;D I've known the café since I was in high school because they always met study groups from our school there because there are very nice niches. In general, there is always a lot going on here and you have to look for a place. But the people are super nice and the large tables also offer space for large groups. I can highly recommend the cakes there - I had a pistachio cake which was delicious. You can also buy a T-shirt with the print there and I'm still fascinated by the self-cleaning toilet seats that you'd find in gas stations, but I've only seen them in a café.

Always an experience, great café with fast staff

We ate at Cafe Chaos today. Chaos as the store says. Sunday would always be busy. If that's the case, then I have to prepare for it and not let the chaos out on the guests. The waiters couldn't handle criticism at all. Food wasn't good either. Just chaos. So for me it was the last time I was there.

I didn't have a good experience. It was actually just a short contact with an invoice that took my feet away a bit. I found a 0.4l wine spritzer for 9.80 euros (as of 10/2024) to be extremely expensive. To the credit of the waitress, she definitely had a guilty conscience and was overwhelmed with delivering the calculation model. The bill from the boss, who I didn't know, probably looked like this: Riesling 0.2 l 4.90 (as far as OK) Riesling spritzer 0.2 l also 4.90 (well... water=wine?) Water 0.3 l approx. 2.60 Riesling spritzer 0.4l = 2x 4.90 euros If you're a little too enterprising, you can expect it to be that way. 0.2 liters of Riesling + a water wouldn't have been snapper, but at least it would have been closer to reality. Just blaming it on the name (Cafe Chaos) seems to me to be falling short. Perhaps, as a Rhine-Hesse man, I was a bit too daring to order a dry wine spritzer there. If you are asked about it, I think you can correct an error in pricing. Unfortunately the opportunity was not taken.

Café Chaos has been around for more than 40 years and has delicious food at affordable prices. A real Darmstadt institution with customer-friendly opening times: you can have a delicious spaghetti or simply have a drink from morning until late in the evening. What's always a bit of a shame: reservations are not possible (so it's difficult to meet other people there because often nothing is free) and card payments are not possible (so you have to go to an ATM first, withdraw it, give them the money and they pay Then put it back into your machine. Hard work. If you can put up with it, Café Chaos is a real recommendation!

Dear Madam and Mr. Chaos, During our visit to your establishment today, there was no mention of the term “chaos” at all - everything was perfectly organized: for example, the food ordered at different times arrived at exactly the same time (hot and tasty), and the smart service was Maxi (second day of training). Perfectly prepared for all exotic special requests and remained friendly at all times despite being rude. A very special experience - we'll be back!

One of our pizza took 40+mins so asked a male staff with glasses who gave me all sorts of mean replies without an eye contact. Dude, I can see that you don’t like your job but we are here to have fun with some good food. Relax. Other staffs are nice!

Previously a purely student café, Café Chaos now attracts all age groups. The menu is extensive, the food is cheap, the location is central and perfect, especially outside on the terrace. Good pizzas and cakes. Service could be a little more attentive - and better trained. We would have liked to know the origin of the imaginative pizza names.

The food was OK. Quite tasty in itself, but rather mildly seasoned, a little bit of lettuce and far too much bread. However, it was lovingly prepared and fresh. The waitress seemed in a bad mood. I guess we were just having a bad day, but she barely noticed us and seemed stressed. It's nice to sit outside, but also uncomfortable. I would come back again and give it another chance. Probably not for lunch but rather for breakfast.

Always happy to come here! Food great! Generous portions, always fresh and beautifully presented. I can especially recommend the cakes. Disgusting, as someone said, I absolutely cannot understand it. This is called nostalgic and kept simple. Just no etepetete… I miss the comfortable chairs. The wooden chairs are already hard after a long time. Sometimes when there is a lot going on, you have to wait for your food. But all in all great.

Simply cult! Somehow out of time, somehow exactly up to date... ;-) It has remained true to itself over the years and is rightly popular with all age groups and at any time of day.

Very shabby, food is rather rustic and everything feels a bit disgusting. The prices are also quite expensive and when we entered the café a fat MOUSE scurried across the floor. The creature often walked past our table and did not contribute to our well-being.

I would like to share my disappointing experience from this cafe. There was no plain scrambled eggs on the menu, so we politely asked if they were available. The answer was snippy: “Yes, we can do it, it costs 40 cents cheaper.” When I asked whether it was really only 40 cents, I was rudely replied: “I’m not arguing about the prices.” That was the reason for us enough not to order the scrambled eggs. Instead we opted for a boiled egg and other small things. However, the egg arrived far too runny. After we called the waiter and pointed out that the egg was not edible, it was re-cooked, but we had to wait over 25 minutes for the new egg because they forgot to re-cook it. To make matters worse, we ended up being charged for two eggs even though we only ate one. For me this is an absolute no-go. If you value good service and friendliness, you should avoid this restaurant. I definitely can't recommend it.

Uuuuuuuurious here I came across it spontaneously and find the interior design cute, bizarre and indescribable. Was here for breakfast and first had to read the menu (everything was literally handmade) and decided on mixed. You could also say royal and not only your hunger is satisfied but also your eyes. Unreservedly recommended.

It's a very nice and cozy place, the staff are friendly. The only problem is the menu; If you're not familiar with the drinks and food, you can't really tell what's what and the menu is difficult to read. And of course pay with cash

This was a visit to this coffee, beer bar after 45 years. I was there at my time as student and i came to visit good memories. Great food experience.

As always, it was an experience to have brunch here. Super nice service, a very tasty breakfast - what more could you want! Unfortunately it was too early for a beer ;-)

Breakfast was quite good. Had fruit with muesli and yogurt. Sitting outside was pleasant. Unfortunately, we often had to wait a long time for the waitresses to reorder. But the staff was very nice!

Good food, disappointing service While the food was excellent and the ambience pleasant, the service from one server was extremely disappointing. This operator consistently ignored us even though I raised my hand several times. Finally I had to get up and go to him just to order spread. We waited over five minutes for our order. It wasn't until another, friendlier operator stepped in that we got our food within seconds. The inattentive operator, who resembled Olaf Scholz, was very unsympathetic and spoiled our overall impression. Despite the good food and lovely atmosphere, we can only give it 2 stars. I'm sorry.

Was there again today for a long time, it's still great there. In the meantime, I have to revise my previous positive review: This restaurant has changed very much to the detriment.

We went to Café Chaos twice and loved it. A cozy pub, no frills and really good food. Lots of meatless dishes and a divine cheesecake. Please don’t change anything!!!!’.

A mega contact point for decades, parking nearby, easy to reach by bus and train and delicious, simple dishes. Great for breakfast and open until night.

Not a posh restaurant but a place to feel good. Food super delicious. Service top.

Dieses Cafe hat uns noch nie entäuscht, alle MItarbeiter waren immer super freundlich und gut drauf, das Essen super lecker, egal ob Pizza oder Apfelstrudel, hier passt einfach alles, nicht umsonst hat dieses Café so wiele Jahre überlebt. Und total witzig: die alten Automaten mit Krims Krams, die überall rumhängen.

The best cult cafe in Darmstadt. I have been a guest in Chaos for over 35 years. Consistent quality and always worth a visit. Food is available at any time of the day or night.

I've been going to chaos since the mid-80s. Luckily the map hasn't changed since then. The same delicious things have been around for ages. My favorite meal to this day is "Pita with sheep's cheese and fried onions". For dessert I would like a tiramisu :). As a student, I was a regular there and met lots of nice people on a regular basis!
