The breakfast buffet is cute, but not too small. In the evenings, the atmosphere is lovely, and there's sometimes live music. The drinks and food may be a bit pricey, but they're incredibly delicious. Due to the pleasant atmosphere, delicious food, and friendly service, it might sometimes take a little longer, which is why I had to deduct a point for the service.

The service is absolutely excellent. The restaurant is on the corner of a main road. There's plenty of seating in the summer. I find the bruschetta very tasty, but at €9.90, it's not exactly cheap. I don't think the prices in general are cheap, but they're still okay. The beetroot pasta is absolutely amazing! The sandwich was also delicious! All in all, highly recommended!

Unfortunately, I can't give another review, only edit the one from two years ago, so this is how it is. We were back after two years and wanted to see if the previous impression was perhaps simply outdated. Spoiler alert: Well... not so soon after all. Generally, we thought the quality of the food was good, but the value for money here was not right for us at all. Two years ago, we already criticized the price-to-quantity ratio of the Kaiserschmarrn, and this time, for just as little, they added an extra €2. The tapas platter for 18.90 is described as containing various vegetables, cheese, ham, and a chicken and apricot skewer - very overpriced for what actually came. The specially advertised chicken and apricot skewer consisted of 2 small pieces of chicken and 2 dates. I couldn't find any cheese - there was some feta cream on it, the vegetables were more like some fried mushrooms, pickled peppers, sun-dried tomatoes, and some lettuce, and the ham was wrapped around 2 dates at most. That doesn't make sense to me at all. The three of us spent a good 85.00 € for the tapas platter, baked feta, and Kaiserschmarrn + drinks. By the way, I found the aperitif Rosato Mio Amsterdam-style with tonic described below for 7.80, so for tonic with a shot of Aperetivo Rosato, the price is the same as for the real Rosato Mio made with Prosecco. The service staff was friendly, but it was obvious they weren't experienced in the restaurant business. A couple at the next table had their bottle of wine simply placed on their table without opening it, pouring it, or adding a new ice bucket, and it all seemed a bit haphazard. Here's the original review from 2 years ago - the photos are from 2 years ago: We were there as a family for dinner in the evening and wanted to enjoy the sunshine and the beautiful weather. It was quite busy, and we were prepared for a wait, but it went quicker than expected. The food was okay, but not worth the price. The portion of Kaiserschmarren (smothered pancakes) for €10.90 was a joke. Käsespätzle (cheese spaetzle) were better last time, but okay. What's not okay: I ordered a Rosato mio, and that's usually served with Prosecco (and that's what it says on the menu). Upon inquiry, it turned out that it was made with tonic instead of prosecco (basil, which is also listed on the menu, was also missing). When I asked, I was told that it was with tonic, but it was just wrong on the menu, and that it was only €7.50 – honestly, I feel doubly ripped off. The price structure for prosecco and tonic is not insignificant either. I ordered the card version with a request – with basil as described – but it didn't work the second time around either – it came with lime. We won't be coming back anytime soon… the price-performance ratio isn't right here. Oh yeah, when we paid, there wasn't even a receipt or a slip of paper… we basically paid blindly (but I didn't ask again).

It's been a lovely place to meet for years. Friendly, usually quiet, and always with a good view of Stadtfeld. The drinks and food are good and reasonably priced.

It was disappointing. This was our first and last time here. There were some fruit flies in our drinks. They didn't acknowledge the mistake, didn't apologize, and dismissed it as if the flies had gotten into the drink through us. They provocatively placed a beer mat on the new cocktail. I saw the drink being held up to the light at the bar to check it. We told them twice that we wanted to cancel the drink and didn't want a new one – no one took it seriously.

The menu is unfortunately completely misleading. I ordered salmon with fried potatoes – according to the menu, a simple fish dish with no mention of meat at all. Only after eating the dish did I learn that the fried potatoes were served with bacon. For someone who doesn't eat meat, this is obviously a big problem. I ordered the dish based solely on the menu information – and it was incomplete. The waitress apologized politely, but the restaurant itself offered no comment or assistance. Despite the mistake, I paid the full price for the dish. In good restaurants, they at least offer a discount in such cases – unfortunately, not here.

Great location but the music was loud

I visited Amsterdam for the first time yesterday and was immediately impressed. I'll definitely be back :). The menu is concise (it's not a traditional restaurant, after all), but it's good; there's something for everyone, and the drinks are great too. My conclusion: a visit is always worth it.

I recently celebrated my birthday in Amsterdam and it was absolutely wonderful! We had actually made a reservation inside, but the team was super attentive and also prepared a table for us outside. So we were able to enjoy the evening sun and later relax inside when it got cooler. At midnight a birthday song played and I even got a little chocolate cake with a candle - really sweet and a really nice surprise! The atmosphere was great, the team was super friendly and we just felt really comfortable. A big thank you to Amsterdam! We'd really like to come back :)

Very relaxed, delicious bruschetta

The café is certainly suitable for drinking, but unfortunately not for eating. In principle, the dishes seem well thought out; although there is a small selection and not super original, there are a few classics and very nicely presented. However, the food is practically unseasoned - we didn't notice any salt or pepper in the dishes, let alone any real spices or herbs. Tomato sauce that doesn't even taste like tomatoes, Schupfnudeln cooked without anything, chicken without any seasoning. Bland ingredients that taste more like uniformity in the mouth. It's a shame because the ingredients otherwise seem to be of good quality. Despite great service and beautiful furnishings, it's unfortunately not worth a second visit.

To put it briefly, it's a great shop with a great atmosphere. The prices are fair and the staff is excellent. Gladly again! And the karaoke that takes place every Monday is always worth a visit⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The two of us were there for breakfast brunch and had reserved in advance via the website. The selection at the buffet was absolutely sufficient and was replenished immediately if something was missing. The man behind the counter prepared coffee with love and a lot of taste, you could see that and the lady on staff was also very nice. An absolutely successful birthday breakfast. I had made a reservation 3 weeks in advance and unfortunately we were only told on site that we only had about 2 1/2 hours. If we had known this beforehand, the evening would not have ended abruptly. It's a shame because the food was really tasty, even if you had to devour the dessert a bit later because you were politely asked to pay. Luckily we were able to drink the cocktails somewhere else.

All in all nice. Hardworking, friendly. Basically a successful atmosphere. And many will feel very comfortable here... For me, there are clearly no vegan alternatives on the menu. I don't think there is a single one. That seems a little old-fashioned and inflexible.

First the positive things about the first visit to Café Amsterdam: The location is modernly furnished and invites you to relax and eat/drink. Overall a nice atmosphere and the quality of the food is good. The bottom line is that price/performance is right. This leads to the negative; There were four of us and we spent a total of almost €450. Given that we wanted to drink a few rounds of good drinks after the meal, we ordered exactly what was on the menu, in addition to cocktails and, for example, various rum or cognac drinks, as it says on the menu, with 2cl. But what the service person did is that she basically charged double the amount, i.e. 4cl, for all orders. This was noticeable with a shot like Berliner Luft, but we thought it was a greeting from the bartender since we placed quite a few orders. After the bill came and we noticed this, the service person was quite surprised because she was of the opinion that 4cl was basically booked - contrary to the card. When I went to the bartender, he just made excuses like, "Where he comes from, he only ever makes doubles." But neither an apology nor an accommodation to the bill was opened here. Simply playing dumb and not mentioning in advance that only 4cl is available in the house - contrary to the card - is not a fine form of service and is certainly legally dubious. In any case, this quickly ruined the first, actually good impression. Unfortunately no recommendation in this regard.

It's been a long time since we were served as poorly as we were here for breakfast. We arrive (10 minutes late) and the first thing the waiter says to us is: “I'm just getting upset with you.” Ah okay, nice greeting. There were only 4 people in the restaurant at the time, so I don't think we held up traffic by being late. He came to the table once during the entire 2 1/2 hours we were there to take the drink order and that was it. We were not asked again if we would like something to drink and the dirty dishes were not cleared from the table. By the way, it was a birthday breakfast. The enthusiasm for such service was great. The “buffet” was okay but more reminiscent of a bad hotel breakfast. You didn't know what you were eating because nothing was labeled. Does the muesli have Greek yogurt or cream cheese? Spoiler alert it was cream cheese. The selection was a joke given the high price compared to other restaurants in Magdeburg. There weren't even any vegetables to top the rolls with. All in all, not worth a visit (at least for breakfast and with this service). By the way, we have all worked in the catering industry for 10+ years and I think the gentleman should perhaps reconsider his choice of job.

A nice café/bistro/bar in Magdeburg with a great atmosphere, good food and nice staff. I really enjoyed it and have already planned my next visit. On weekends, public holidays, etc. you should reserve in advance (especially with groups).

Wir haben gestern einen sehr schönen Freitagabend dort verleben dürfen. Das Personal freundlich und sehr aufmerksam. Das Essen war sehr gut angerichtet (das Auge isst mit. 😀) und die Portion genau richtig. Als wir dann kurze Zeit später nach der Rechnung gefragt haben, hat uns der Kellner gefragt, ob wir zum Abschluss noch einen Kaffee haben möchten. Naklar wollen sie alle nur unser Bestes. Aber in diesem Fall hat es tatsächlich die Formulierung gemacht. Wir sagen DANKE für den schönen Abend und kommen mir Sicherheit wieder.

Some culinary places have been around for a long time, and Amsterdam in Magdeburg's most popular district, Stadtfeld, is undoubtedly one of them. I wasn't there for a long time, the basic interior design remained the same. With a lot of view in the front, rather cozy in the back. The walls are now gold and the seating is much more comfortable. Fast, charming service paired with a varied menu is impressive. Although I was already stuck on the lunch menu. From 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. there is cheap pasta or popular regional dishes such as chopped squash. My beloved beer from Saxony (starts with R and ends with adeberger) on tap is another plus. Afterwards, take a nice walk through Goethestrasse, that's how life can be beautiful. In short, good things from old times reinforced with new ideas can be really convincing. Chapeau

A really great meal. We are always thrilled. However, we don't think it's so great to have to upload the menu yourself on your own cell phone. That's inconvenient because you lose track of things on the small cell phone display. Your little tablets are great and you should use them outside again .At least when asked, like we did. We don't deduct any points because the service was still very friendly.

Unfortunately, we were left sitting at our table for 20 minutes without service, and afterward (9:40 p.m.) we were told that there would be no more food, even though the menu says that the kitchen will be open until 10 p.m. Apparently it's too hard to make some snacks at this time. The table next to us, who arrived later, also had their drinks earlier. We also asked for an ashtray - after asking for the third time one came.

A very charming restaurant with a really nice service team. The cocktails have to be delicious. I was seated at the bar and was able to observe the nimble hands of the preparers and also the trays that carried the delicacies outside. Meanwhile, I enjoyed my delicious meal (a pan of shrimp in tomato sauce), the beautiful ambience of the shop and the humorous conversation of my bar colleagues. My evening in Magdeburg (short trip to the workshop) was a success. Thank you “Amsterdam-Magdeburg”!

I was a guest with a reservation yesterday evening (May 31, 2024). The service team was friendly and helpful. The drink service was quick and competent. Unfortunately, the mixed salad with chicken for €16.90 was decorated with 2 pieces of bread and a lot of wilted lettuce leaves. The actual salad was almost non-existent! When I was told to report it to the kitchen, nothing followed. Sorry, but the salad must be perfect for this price. The “pass it on to the kitchen” reaction could have been different. I'm definitely not coming back for the food.

The 1 star rating is not justified in some places, but it is an incredible impudence to charge €28 per person for a breakfast buffet just because it is the 2nd Sunday of the month and it is a “brunch”, which you don't get is sometimes communicated or is not visible on the website. In addition, charging extra money for every cup of filter coffee, even though the card says it is included in the price, is just completely excessive!!! Furthermore, just because it is a holiday (Mother's Day), it is simply a rip-off to charge more money for the same thing that is on the buffet on other days.

A wonderful and very tasty breakfast. What counts here is quality and not quantity, with attention to detail. We'd love to come back.

I entered the restaurant hungry before heading home. The door behind me wasn't closed yet when the very friendly waitress came towards me. I had Spätzlepfanne (vegetarian), which was very tasty. We went to Easter brunch in Amsterdam today and were very disappointed. We reserved in advance by email and were offered brunch for 14.90 euros. When we got there and got our drinks, we were informed that brunch costs 19.90 euros today. We should pay the full price for a seven-year-old child who ate 1 roll and 1 fruit salad. When I asked if there were children's prices, I was simply told no, the child pays the full price. Which 7 year old child is the price of the buffet? Regarding the dishes: the quality was okay but the selection was not justified for the price. We found there was a normal breakfast without a large selection as we know it from elsewhere in Magdeburg. It's been a long time since we've been back to Amsterdam and we were disappointed. Are children perhaps not welcome? That's how it seemed to us. We find it very unfortunate.

Some time ago we ordered a table for today (Easter Monday). When we made the reservation online, breakfast was listed for €14.90. When we sat at the table we were told that today it spontaneously costs €20 instead of €14.90. And only the children pay the “normal” price of €14.90. The seven of us sat there and thought about what we were going to do. Getting a new table so spontaneously is impossible. If we had known when we made the reservation that the price would spontaneously become more expensive today, we would have been able to prepare for it Apparently the offer was much more extensive, but since I don't have any comparison options and wasn't there when a normal breakfast was offered, I can only say that it was a standard breakfast today. Nothing special... I then had to pay €14.99 for my 7 year old son for half a roll with Nutella and some fruit salad. (We couldn't just go anywhere else, 7 of us with 2 children) An impudence.... The waiter then said that with the children's prices they were making up for the loss that they made through the adults. Never again..... I would have liked more transparency... when making the reservation you could have pointed out the increased costs or contacted me again beforehand, but so spontaneously... I am very disappointed!

We specifically looked for the location because it was barrier-free according to the website. Unfortunately this is not true, extra side entrance with a small edge, toilets can only be reached via 5 steps, toilet is crooked, no chance as a wheelchair user. Had to leave again as soon as possible. Please don't advertise with such false information! Service friendly and on point, food ok, but lacking in taste. Ambiance is nice.

We were here to celebrate our birthday at the weekend and were completely satisfied. Nice waiter, nice waitress, large selection of drinks, cool atmosphere, it was fun. The boss was very flexible because we had more people than planned. The only, minimal point: In our opinion, the club sandwich for €15.90 is at the limit in terms of price. But that didn't detract from the enjoyment of the evening - a great place in Stadtfeld, one of the few places with Guinness on tap. We'll definitely be back! Thank you for your hospitality.

Reserved a table for two on the podium several weeks ago but when we got there a table downstairs in the dining room was reserved. When we asked, we were told that you can only reserve for 4 people or more on the podium. We then went to another restaurant very disappointed

Sehr nette Bedienung, schönes Ambiente. Allerdings gefällt mir das Geschäftsgebaren nicht. Ich wollte zu meinem alkoholischen Getränk ein Leitungswasser dazu haben, dieses wurde mir nicht gegeben. Ich musste ein teures Tafelwasser kaufen. Die Begründung: Angeblich seien die Leitungen im Haus zu alt, um die Qualität zu garantieren. Das halte ich für eine schwache Ausrede, denn wären die Leitungen nicht hygienisch, würde wohl das ganze Restaurant in Frage stehen. Mein Essen(Schafskäse mit Gemüse) war sehr zerkocht. Gemüse habe ich in der Soße nicht gefunden. Eine glutenfreie Alternative für das dazugehörige Brot gibt es nicht. Brot wird dann einfach nicht serviert, für den gleichen Preis. Positiv: die Bedienungen sind auf Zack und sehr freundlich.

Netter Service, gemütliche Atmosphäre und sehe leckeres Essen. Die Getränkeauswahl ist toll, für jeden etwas dabei. Beim Essen genauso. Klare Empfehlung!
