By Vu in Freising

For us, this is the best restaurant in Freising and definitely the best sushi we've ever had. Since our first visit to ByVu, we've banned the all-you-can-eat Chinese and running sushi from our menu and prefer to spend a little more – it's definitely worth it. Be aware that it's often very busy in the early evening, so plan on waiting, as every sushi is prepared fresh and to your liking. For this reason, we usually come after 8 p.m. The service could be a bit better, but we're happy to overlook that. It's best to grab our regular waiter (probably also the boss) – a cool guy with lots of tattoos, piercings, and polished nails. If you come more often, he'll read your every wish 👍🏼 Our tip: Vulcano Roll and chicken in coconut-peanut sauce with rice!!! 😋😋😋

By Vu is a lovely restaurant with a wide selection of Asian dishes. The food is fresh, made with high-quality ingredients, and very tasty. And the prices are fair, too. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. We'd love to come back.

The vegetarian dishes always impress me! Great selection, beautifully presented, very tasty, and plentiful. Delicious drinks (including non-alcoholic cocktails). The ambiance is sometimes quite dark; perhaps a bit more lighting is needed.

The food is always top-notch! The portions are adequate, but could be a bit larger. The service is generally good, but could ask customers more often if they need anything else.

The sushi is excellent, and the Thai/Vietnamese dishes are of a higher standard, also good. The service itself is pleasant, but the wait is always very long; an extra glass was only brought after 20 minutes. The place is very busy in the evenings, but there are few servers.

Dry chicken in a coconut and peanut shell. Thin sauce without a particularly deep flavor. The vegetables weren't cooked through enough, and some of them could only be cut with a knife. All in all, the price was above average and the flavor was below average.

This was my first time there. The food was good, but it was a bit expensive for four people with two separate bills. 1 bill: 4 beers, 2 curries (salmon & chicken) €80 2 bills: 2 beers, 1 still water, sushi, wok salmon, and chicken €70 Unfortunately, I got the wrong sushi twice and didn't want to return it the second time. The restroom was unfortunately not clean, and there were no paper towels in the men's and women's areas. It was very crowded, and I think they were a bit overwhelmed. I'll be there again on July 25th. We'll see how it is then.

Best sushi ever... The way the food is presented is a real experience 😍

The food is very good; I had sushi, my girlfriend had udon noodles. The (non-alcoholic) cocktails were also delicious. Unfortunately, the service is abysmal. It was almost deserted; there were about seven waiters/waitresses standing around at the bar, but you had to really get your attention by waving to finally get noticed or served. Hence, unfortunately, two stars deducted.

We showed up without reservation on a thursday evening and ate on the terasse. Service was given in english and professional. Picked sushis for a meal with gyoza as appetizers. Nothing short of perfection : Sushis were to perfect temperature, well presented and with right amount of sauce. We re big sushi fan and this place was amazing. Strongly suggest ! 50 euro min for foreign Mastercards/visa was well displayed.

The food is very, very delicious and authentic; I could have sat down in the ramen bowl! Sitting outside was fine, but it could be a bit more cozy; maybe a candle on the table or some decorative lights? Thank you very much, I'll be happy to come back.

Not recommended in the evenings (especially on weekends). Far too crowded and overbooked, with long waits for food and even drinks. Portions also seem smaller than they used to be. Duck has been out for some time, an absolute no-go for an Asian restaurant. Loud club music (modern hip-hop/rap) was playing in the background, which doesn't fit at all with the otherwise beautiful interior/decor. The price and ambiance make the place feel like it's in Munich. The service, however, doesn't help with its stylish and trendy appearance. The lunch menu, on the other hand, was good value for money.

The food is generally very good, and the staff is friendly, too. Unfortunately, everyone who ordered and ate there with me the day before yesterday suffered some sort of food poisoning, which was extremely unpleasant.

Delicious Asian food with great service..

Wir sind oft nach München gefahren, um Asiatisch zu essen. Müssen wir nun nicht mehr! Wir waren gestern im By Vu und es war köstlich. Wir hatten die Sommerrollen, einen NOM Mango Salat mit Tofu und Kokos Curry mit Nudeln. Alle Gerichte schmeckten hervorragend. Service war ebenfalls gut.

The food was really very good – there were four of us and everyone was completely satisfied. The service was also extremely friendly. What was less convincing, however, was the ambience. There is a bit of a lack of attention to detail here - unfortunately that starts with the toilet: it wasn't particularly clean, there were pieces of paper lying around, cobwebs were visible, and there were no towels or alternatives. A little more care could also have been taken when setting the tables. Overall, the cuisine is top notch, with room for improvement in terms of cleanliness and atmosphere.

I told the waiter that I wanted oat milk, whereupon he said he didn't understand me, I repeated, he didn't understand again, for the third time he pretended that he understood me and that the restaurant certainly had it, he went to the other colleague and asked him what it was supposed to be. And he came to us and said, "We'll make you a normal cappuccino, with cow's milk, that's no problem, right?" Just facepalm, I don't feel like speaking to waiters who don't speak German, and that in the center of Bavaria.

Nice people, good food. Be aware that not all card payments work, the German EC bank cards were the only ones that worked for us.

The culinary delights here are both the palate and the eye, both with the food and the cocktails. The ambience impresses with its unusual, chic furnishings. The service is a bit slow, even when there are few guests, but is always friendly and accommodating.

The store completely convinced me. The sushi, especially this one Crispy Sushi (I don't know what it's called), was incredibly tasty, and the sauce with it was just great. Excellent food accompanied by fast service, really a recommendation. We had the sushi platter for 4, three were more than full. The other dishes were also very good.

We ordered a ramen soup with vegetables and chicken and shrimp. We often had these with a lot of vegetables and always found them very tasty. Today, however, no vegetables and not particularly tasty. What was ordered is clearly not delivered here. For the first time we were very disappointed.

I wasn't in the restaurant, but we had food delivered from there for our company party. The food tasted great, looked very nice and was absolutely good value for money. The delivery service was also great, it was delivered on time as ordered. Based on this experience, I can highly recommend the restaurant. I would be happy to order or eat there again.

The store is ridiculous. You order food for €100 and you get everything EVERYTHING wrong. Chicken isn't even cooked through, just slapped in from the freezer. Every single piece of sushi was made incorrectly and instead was just leftovers from the kitchen. Better think before you waste money in the juice shop.

I've been there a lot now and tried different things - at lunch, in the evening, in the restaurant and to take away - and without exception I got delicious food every time. The sushi is particularly good, which is absolutely number one for me in Freising and has been regularly ordered to go there for a few weeks now. The service is also good, always very friendly and even special requests are taken into account. Absolutely recommended!

It was a nice change of the German food we ate in during the beer fest. But it was simple and the sauces in the food predominant and not in a good way.

It was a warm summer evening and the restaurant was very busy. The staff was friendly and tried hard, but totally overwhelmed. We waited over 1 hour for the food! Maybe you shouldn't accept pickup orders if you're already overwhelmed with customers in the restaurant

Good food, friendly and good service

The restaurant is very pretty, the outdoor area is rather functional, but ok. The waitresses are very attentive and customer-oriented, great! But the most important thing, the food, is not a reason for me to come back. I spend a lot of time in Asia, but unfortunately the food can't keep up. The ingredients are all fresh, you can taste it, but I was blown away by the taste all 3 times. The children's dish chicken skewers is so mixed in terms of meat that it was not well received at all. I was hoping for pieces of meat and not chicken pieces. In terms of ingredients, Phat Thai is similar to what you're familiar with, but it's served with a very strange sauce that doesn't necessarily make it tasty. I also had fish once, but this fusion cuisine didn't really please my palate. But! The sushi is highly recommended, it tastes really good.

We went to a European Championship game with a reservation. I was the first to arrive and was allowed to stand in the store for 5 minutes as ordered and not picked up because the waiters were arguing among themselves about an incorrectly taken or delivered order. Nothing was known about my reservation (a table for the public viewing), although the name was obviously in the book. I was then seated at a seemingly unreserved table diagonally behind the television, while a table for four was reserved in front of the television. The food itself was OK, but it took forever, even though the table only had simple sushi rolls and two identical chicken dishes. We waited 50 minutes for this. In the middle of the meal, a privacy screen from the neighbors was dismantled for no apparent reason. It was difficult to ask for drinks because we were pretty much on the edge. At most, I would get sushi here and eat it at home, as the quality and price-performance ratio were really good.

Unfortunately, the food wasn't very tasty. Starter was better than my main course. Unfortunately the service was more than inattentive. Empty plates and glasses stood in front of us for ages. And on our own initiative we were never served. Very unfortunate. I think the price for 3 people is over €100 without alcoholic drinks is too expensive and not justified. Ambiance outside and inside nothing special.

Food: The sushi here is really very good, it really doesn't get any better in Freising in terms of taste and appearance. However, some rolls have such a large diameter that you almost have to eat them with a knife and fork, otherwise it becomes quite a mess. As good as the sushi may be here, other dishes are often just as disappointing. Unfortunately, the dishes marked as particularly spicy are maximally spicy. The chicken can also sometimes be very dry. Which can make you wonder whether marinating chicken in starch hasn't arrived here yet. I can't say whether that's typical for the dish, but if you're committed to "Asian Fusion", you could optimize it. Service: Unfortunately, the waiting time has always been unbearably long. Actually at least 45 minutes each time, more like an hour. Admittedly, we've only been there about 5-7 times since the restaurant opened, but the experience was very similar each time. Questions about whether you would like a new drink when the glass is empty are never asked. You sometimes have to follow the waitresses here. Although they are very polite, they seem very uncoordinated and overwhelmed to me. This was clearly visible during a recent visit, sometime in 2023. The sushi chef is sometimes at the tap, which of course greatly delayed the preparation of the already complex sushi. Ambience: This is quite harmonious and the presentation of the dishes, especially the sushi, is very successful. Conclusion: If you can bear the waiting time and, above all, have an appetite for good sushi, this is the place for you. However, other Asian dishes are available in many other restaurants across the city of similar quality without the above-mentioned deficiencies.

We went there without a reservation and got a table inside. Our orders were taken quickly and the food came quite quickly. We had summer rolls, gyoza, ramen and papaya salad. Overall, we were happy with the food, everything tasted good and the ingredients were fresh. The summer rolls had a little too many noodles and a little more spice/spiciness wouldn't have hurt, but solid Asian. I would recommend and go there again.

I found By Vu when I was doing a quick search of what restaurants were near where I am staying in Freising, and the Menu looked good, the reviews looked good, and most of all, sushi was something familiar from back home in NC. The food was pretty good overall, the atmosphere was good, the presentation of the Sushi was amazing and completely unexpected, so much so that even the people at the table next to mine asked if they could get a picture. I only gave the service 2 stars, but that is based on 3 things. I completely understand that there is a language barrier as I know absolutely No German, but it really kind of felt like my server straight up avoided me after our first interaction and I had to point to what I wanted to drink and the 2 starters I wanted, at which point she tried to take my menu and i had to keep trying to explainthat i wasnt done with it. The beer that I ordered was only about 70% full and had the head/foam running all down the side, and after being in there for 1.5 hours in total, my glass stayed on the table empty for the last 30-40min, and even when my sushi was brought to my table and the server poured the stuff into the little thing that started smoking, she just looked at the empty glass and walked away without saying a word or even taking the glass.

We waited for over an hour, the waiters are too busy to take care of all the tables. terrible experience.

Super delicious food, great atmosphere

Food was edible but way too overpriced for the quality. Unfortunately, I was hoping that Asian fusion would offer novel and playful dishes. Unfortunately, I was disappointed in this hope. For starters we had a salad that was half a soup and summer rolls that were open at both ends and therefore couldn't be eaten by hand. My girlfriend had ramen soup. The broth was okay but the toppings were very lean. Half an egg, half bok choy and the standard tofu you get at any standard Asian restaurant. I had a Pho Ga. The broth was indistinguishable from a German pork broth. In the soup there were sometimes thick chunks of chicken instead of fine chicken strips. The sticks were too smooth and not suitable for consumption. No chili or lime was added. Unfortunately, I left the restaurant with the feeling that Asian fusion was simply a selection of different Asian cuisines. The kebab, which also offers pizza, Indian and Greek, is an exaggeration. I'll probably go back again to try some of the other dishes but this time I'm unfortunately completely disappointed.

Als wir vor Ort ankamen, wird wir am Eingangstresen völlig ignoriert. Nach 10 Minuten wendeten wir uns aktiv an das Personal. Anschließend erst wurden wir zum Tisch gebracht. 20 Minuten später kam noch immer keine Bedienung. Erst nach erneuter Aufforderung kam eine Bedienung mit einem Gesichtsausdruck, als wolle sie Feierabend machen. Zwischendurch erneut das Selbe, man musste auf sich aufmerksam machen und das aktiv, um an weitere Bestellungen zu kommen. Wir werden by vu nicht mehr besuchen. Schade, das Essen schmeckt sehr gut.

This was our second time at by Vu Both times the food was very good, but both times the service was very bad. We had reserved a table. When we arrived on site, we were completely ignored at the entrance counter. After 10 minutes we actively contacted the staff. Only then were we taken to the table. 20 minutes later there was still no service. Only after asking again did a waitress come with an expression on her face as if she wanted to call it a day. Every now and then it was the same thing again, you had to draw attention to yourself and do so actively in order to get further orders. We will not visit by vu again. It's a shame, the food tastes very good.

Food was absolutely top notch. Fresh, well prepared and tastes excellent! Even the drinks were so decorative. The service was friendly but a bit overwhelmed. Didn't understand a lot of things and had to come back to clarify everything for the sake of accuracy. Ambiance inside really nice and fits the whole concept, but very warm and dark. Luckily we were able to move outside. I recommend making a reservation 😉

The food was always very good, but the service overall has become so poor that you don't want to go there anymore. We had reserved a specific table for our birthday dinner, where it wouldn't be as noisy when the restaurant was full... when we arrived, the table was occupied, our reservation had been completely ignored because the employee, who was apparently completely overwhelmed, took the reservation desk. Entries had not been checked. Something like this shouldn't happen! With such faux pas and staff who really don't speak a word of German or English, the store will ruin its previously good reputation.

10/10 the food was incredibly tasty, one of the best things I've ever eaten (a chicken curry with vegetables and udon noodles), and I'm not even that much of a fan of Asian food. So absolutely recommended!

Great food, service is absolute disgrace, you make a reservation and still don't get a seat. Once you have a seat, the food takes forever. Were there yesterday with a reservation, had to wait 15 minutes at the entrance as ordered and not picked up, then left the store and ate somewhere else. Order by phone - the food takes 30 minutes to pick up - you arrive and the preparation hasn't even started yet. It's a shame because the food is really recommended.

I really like byVu and come here often - the food is fantastic with small exceptions. There's been a bit of a worm lately, though. Yesterday we were there shortly after the store opened, ordered and then our food didn't arrive until a full hour later. When asked, it wasn't immediately forgotten - it was saved. We also had to ask specifically for cutlery and the food we ordered came every 15 minutes. In addition, we were left stranded until we got the bill. The service staff deliberately ignored us. In this price category with the great ambience and food, the service should be good - this can be clearly improved.

We had a very nice evening here. That was my first visit. The atmosphere is cozy and a little lounge-like. If you like the modern style, you will feel comfortable. I had noted a small special request in the reservation, which was also taken into account. In this respect I can only say: the shop is running well and the food is also recommended. It is a somewhat more select kitchen with beautiful presentation. The portions are still plenty. If you don't want the typical glutamate food, this is the place for you. Recommendation!

After so many beautiful stories and raves from acquaintances and friends, we are unfortunately very disappointed. Either the chef just had a bad day or he just can't do it. In any case, Court Number 78 was the biggest failure in a long time. Pak Choi was less than al dente and overcooked, the sauce was very tasteless and the duck was just a very dry and tough affair. Half of the dish went back to the kitchen. A pity!!!!

Asian cuisine interpreted in a modern yet traditional way. Very tasty and fresh! Not a long wait, but it was already late and many guests had already left. My experience is that it would be better to reserve in advance! But I always enjoy coming here because the price-performance ratio is just right. It's always a pleasure to be able to taste such high-quality food. The whole atmosphere is tasteful and cozy.

Relatively long waiting times on Valentine's Day, but that was okay because of the many people. The food itself was great and the drinks were delicious too. However, based on a previous experience in this restaurant, I cannot recommend the Pina Colada as it was much too strong compared to the ones I have drunk before. Unfortunately, I discovered at home that the ramen I had packed the night before had hardly any broth left and had the consistency of jelly. But in itself a really cool restaurant

Absolutely unreliable restaurant, I reserved a table for 2 people on a Wednesday for Valentine's Day 2 days in advance. I was then called on the day of the reservation, shortly before dinner was due, whereupon I was informed that our reservation had been canceled for no reason.

We were there without a reservation. We still got a place and were asked to please be ready in an hour and a half. Thanks to the very good and fast service, the super tasty and also super quick cuisine, it wasn't a problem despite the starter and main course. And there was really a lot going on! But otherwise we would have stayed longer. It was a great evening in terms of taste!!!

This restaurant was on my list since months and just recently I visited it. I was surprised how good the food was. Especially the starter, which was kind a thai papaya salad with tofu and this will be the reason to return. It was just so delicious! The main course was fried vegetables in a sauce with lemon grass. This was good as well. But as mentioned I will return for the starter! Unfortunately the service was very slow and bored only.
