Büyük Harran Doy Doy in Köln

First of all, the portion size is huge, so it's better to order one less thing than more. The service is tip top and very impressive with so many seats! Unfortunately this makes it a bit loud. The food is super tasty and hard to find outside of Cologne! The menu is huge and everyone will find something, vegetarian and vegan are no problem. Card payment possible. We'd love to come back!

Without having been in Turkey, this is the best Kebab I have ever had.

Super tasty grill plate, the bulgur has a perfect taste and consistency. Meat super seasoned and marinated. Before the main course, plenty of flatbread with dips and a selection of salads are served. We would love to come back and will definitely recommend Doy Doy to others. Quite full at rush hour on the weekend, but you could still get a seat without a reservation. Service is on point and fast.

Food itself was okay. The meat on the kebab plate was stingy, there was very little meat and there was no argument to justify selling a 1 liter of cola for €8. Simply outrageous, that was the first and last time.

The chicken meat is partially burnt. Cartilage and rubbery, non-chewable pieces of meat that can really make you gag. Does no one check the quality of your meat? The fries taste like very old oil.

We have been visiting this restaurant regularly for years and have never been disappointed. I have never eaten the Adana skewer better anywhere. What I particularly like and also taste great are the side dishes for the skewer, two different types of rice and a salad. The dishes are reasonably priced. I really like drinking an Ayran with my meal, it's kind of part of it. 😉

The falafels are an absolute highlight for me. The salad is fresh and the portions are large. Unfortunately, the mushrooms were cooked on the same grill as the meat, which made them taste inedible for me as a vegetarian. The service staff was friendly and despite there being a lot of guests, we were served quickly. Unfortunately, some of the künefe was a bit burnt, but still tasty.

This restaurant is huge but the service is quite fast to my surprise. They have friendly staff and big portions. We tried lentil soup and yaprak doner. Soup was good. Yaprak döner is not as good as in Türkiye but it was much better than the döners in the Netherlands. Künefe was also good. Unfortunately they don't have Turkish coffee.

It was way too loud there, you could hardly have a conversation and the noise just gave you a headache. We ordered dürüm 4 times, the meat was unsalted and tasted very dry. The waiters were overall unfriendly, the one who served us turned his back on us before we were finished with our order and left. That's why we had to call him again to order our drinks. It wasn't the first time we were here, the last time was two years ago. You can tell that they are developing very negatively. I won't come here to eat again, of course!

Haran Doy Doy is a good restaurant on Keupstrasse in Cologne. The famous Turkish mile. The service is good and you respond directly to special requests. The food is ok. The prices are humane. Turkish grill specialties and much more. Addendum: the quality has deteriorated significantly, there was actually a piece of coal in my Dürüm. Good sign for real grilled meat, bad for the taste.

First of all, I have to say that hospitality is very important in this restaurant, I have never experienced it like this before. The colleague who was with me ordered a Dönner bag and fries for a Grill Dürüm. Of course my colleague was also allowed to eat it there in the restaurant, so I asked 3 times for a plate so I could eat there too, which was refused until the waiter asked me to sit next to my colleague and after the 4 times I also got a plate . In the middle of where we were eating I was asked to leave the shop because apparently it wasn't appropriate to eat a kebab on site. Mein Mann war mit unserem Sohn dort und hat mir einen Döner Sandwich mitgebracht. Da ich das Lokal von anderen Besuchen kenne und das Essen dort immer gut war, waren meinen Erwartungen recht hoch. Ich hatte einen Döner mit scharfer Soße geordert und ein fades Fladenbrotbrötchen mit wenig Fleisch und Ketchup! bekommen. Wer mag sowas in der Keupstraße? Das war gar nicht lecker, überhaupt nicht scharf und damit der schlechteste Döner, den ich jemals gegessen habe. Selbst der hiesige Dönerladen im Nachbarkaff bekommt das sehr viel besser hin.

The Ayran was also fresh and perfectly suited to this meal. We sat in the first room, where the grill is. Unfortunately, the atmosphere there is not at all inviting, which is why a point is deducted. Maybe you should be asked if you wanted to have a relaxed dinner or just came “quickly to eat”.

Bought three kebabs yesterday and ate them right in front of the door. Unfortunately, lukewarm, almost cold. They cut the spies down in advance and have everything in the bowl. So why don't they add two more grams of stuffing to the lahmacun that costs 7 euros? I asked the waiter if it was just me, he said that when the dough expanded, there were gaps. My friend, did I ask you for a scientific explanation? You are telling me the laws of physics. I think they made a special effort to find a glass as good as a raki glass to pour the open ayran into. It was a meticulous study to find out what kind of glass we put this ayran in that would cause the most swearing. The legal equivalent of this glass is to incite people to hatred and resentment... It is not something that can be done without worrying about whether people would be happy if they added two grams more of minced meat or a glass that was a little bigger.
