Although I understand the negative comments about the noise level, it's related to the energy. Personally, I like it when things are a bit more exciting and energetic, but of course not too much, as I'm also sensitive to noise. The food is excellent and not too expensive, actually, even though it's a very elegant restaurant. I was there recently with my family, and even the first time I went there, having tea and waiting outside in the cold, I really enjoyed the atmosphere, both inside and out. The only downside is perhaps the service, which can sometimes be a bit reserved and brusque, but that's quite normal in German restaurants, whether we're in the north or the south. Nevertheless, thank you so much; I'll gladly come back again and again. It's one of my absolute favorite restaurants in Munich.

I actually do not go to Brenner, but this time a friend organised a table for a bigger group. The food is on the medium level, nothing special (except oysters)) but being fair I have to say that the pricing for such top location (Maximilianstr) and generally Munich is really ok. And, for to me for unknown reasons, we met lots of people we know there. So it seems still to be a hot spot.

I finally made it to this highly praised restaurant and can now share my experience. Upon entering, you're directed to the back. You then reach the actual restaurant area. In the center is a very large open grill. It's really beautiful to look at. The building itself is also very attractive. The downside is the very high noise level. The pilsner I ordered was quite warm – definitely not for me. The other drinks were sufficiently cold. Full of anticipation, I then selected dishes from the menu. The steak tartare was dry (it would have been different with enough egg yolk) and barely seasoned – to say the least. However, no seasoning was provided to improve it. You had to make do with salt and pepper. Appropriate bread and butter were also missing. It's an option, but not ideal. The steak I ordered was grilled to perfection, exactly as requested. The quality of the meat was good – but not what you'd expect for the price. The steak, like the side dishes, was practically unseasoned. Steak pepper or anything similar was nowhere to be found. The panna cotta dessert was okay. Overall, the restaurant offers far too little for my taste. Quite disappointing, actually, especially considering the price. The open grill is truly a sight to behold, as is the restaurant itself. But one visit is enough for me.

Terrible experience. We book for dinner at 8:30pm. Arrive in time. We only receive bread & oil during long timw...but not plates to be able eat bread with oil...order drinks...after receive it and ask for order food and surprise there is not posible order starter and principal dish as are already closing ...but not informed us during all time waiting in tañble. Finish dinner we asked for desert...sorry is not posible...again!!!. Only cafe...but why don't inform us when main food is ordered about it to order at same time...the worst thing is there are desert ready there as we show when we leave... the waiter (lady blodie with glasses) was very unpolite speaking with us, just want we leave...but we saw close table they receive dessers...really increible for this kind of restaurant . Update: We regularly eat at Brenner, or rather, we used to. The last time, when my mom wanted to pay by card at the end, we compared the bill and the receipt and noticed that the amount on the receipt was 10% higher. We usually pay by card and give a tip in cash. But when we noticed that the waiter had automatically added a tip, we confronted him, and he started arguing. In the end, he refunded us in cash, and of course, we didn't give him a cash tip. And no, when my mom tried to tap the card on the reader, there were no tip options on the display (as the waiter claimed. I always check and compare the totals. In this case, it was apparently necessary). Will we go to Brenner again? Probably not. What a shame. Our visit to Brenner was very, very positive. Our waiter, Claudio, was super friendly, competent, attentive, and quick. Kudos to him! From the seasonal menu, we ordered the red wine risotto with blood oranges and the blood orange carpaccio. We also had the homemade spaghetti pomodoro. The waitress who brought our food introduced it to us in Italian. An unexpectedly wonderful taste of Italy! :) The two open kitchens give the restaurant structure, and you can see up close how quick and multitasking the chefs are. We were a group of six dining at the restaurant on Saturday, and the entire experience was deeply disappointing. Despite booking well in advance, we were given a table that was far too small for our group. The food lacked any soul: the potatoes and vegetables were mushy, the steak was stringy and fatty, and the T-bone was missing its tenderloin. We ordered an expensive bottle of wine, but the server asked if they could bring it after we finished eating due to the lack of space on the table. Even making such a request shows a lack of competence. I was also refused an additional beer for the same reason — supposedly there was no room for it on the table. It felt like the restaurant was trying to squeeze in as many guests as possible to maximize profit, at the expense of quality and comfort. The waitress was friendly enough and apologized for our poor experience, but she was clearly not trained properly, and no effort was made to compensate for the situation. Overall, this was most likely the worst dining experience we’ve had in 12 weekend trips across European cities — and one of the most expensive. Dice roll: 1/6.

We were looking forward to a lovely evening, but what we were served was, unfortunately, a prime example of culinary indifference. The stuffed eggplant—once a promise of aroma and texture—turned out to be a rubbery, dry, lifeless shell. Neither its scent nor its taste suggested freshness; it tasted as if it had spent days in the kitchen and then reluctantly reheated. The pico de gallo served alongside was not a fresh accompaniment, but a sad shadow of its former self—mushy, watery, and tasteless. The cauliflower steak, a nice concept in itself, arrived cold, thus losing any remaining spark of charm it might have possessed. What makes this place particularly disappointing is the contrast between its ambition and reality: Here, it seems to be more about "being seen" than about experiencing flavor. Everything feels staged, but soulless. No fire, no passion, no love for the ingredients. For people who truly want to taste and experience good food, I cannot recommend this place. Lots of surface, little substance – a restaurant that prefers to impress rather than offer enjoyment.

Unfortunately, after my last visit on November 1st, 2025, I suffered from food poisoning. Since I ate exclusively at the restaurant that day, the source is clear. There's no room for interpretation, definitely. It's a real shame. I've been a regular customer for many years. When I emailed them about it, they categorically denied that it could be due to any negligence on the part of Brenner. I found that completely inappropriate. They don't want to cause anyone harm, but rather draw attention to the fact that there is/was a problem. As far as we're concerned, Brenner is no longer an option.

Six of us ate here today and spent over €500. Top-notch service, top-notch location… Unfortunately, the food could have been better for the price. I opted for the surf & turf beef fillet. The raw ingredients are certainly top-quality, but I would have been embarrassed to give this dish to customers. The fillet itself was the end cut, which I would have sent as a fillet stroganoff or a salad with fish strips at best. The cooking level was unfortunately not right – it can happen, but in a place where hundreds of meals are sent out every day, that shouldn't happen. What really disappointed me, however, was that the menu lists a black tiger prawn, but only half a prawn found its way to my table (sliced in half lengthwise). What disappointed me even more was that this half prawn had to die on the grill for the second time and was fried to death. A real shame for the money. We probably won't be coming back anytime soon, as the other dishes were also okay, but didn't live up to our expectations in terms of value for money and taste experience, and we've had much better experiences—what a shame. I felt compelled to write this review because I've never before had such a negative discussion with colleagues at the hotel bar after dinner about how much expectations can differ from the actual experience.

Four of us spontaneously arrived around 4:30 p.m. Although we were assured that the table would be available until 6 p.m., everything went wrong from the start. The service was completely uncoordinated: The water arrived quickly, but the white wine we ordered only after the main courses had long since been served – and some of it was incorrect or incomplete. I initially received the wrong main course, the Caesar salad was cold, the entrecôte was missing sauces and side dishes, and my replacement dish didn't arrive until everyone else was finished. Particularly unappealing: The "new" Caesar salad was served on the same, obviously uncleaned plate, with food still sticking to it. Even after complaining and speaking with the manager, there was no appropriate response – only a counter-question as to what we would suggest. We then cut short the visit, paid only for the wine, and left. The ambience resembles a noisy train station concourse, the service is chaotic, and the food quality is far below the price. For this location in Munich, there are much better places where guests are still taken seriously. Conclusion: Disappointing across the board – neither the service, nor the cuisine, nor the atmosphere are up to scratch. Unfortunately, I absolutely cannot recommend it anymore.

Brenner is beautiful and big. It holds several hundred people so it's a bit loud. But the food is excellent and the wait staff are very professional and accommodating. I had a steak which was char-grilled and it was cooked perfectly. Others had pasta dishes which were also delicious.

I went to the Brenner Grill in Munich with my family for dinner. The ambiance is truly beautiful, and the service was very friendly and attentive – kudos to the team for that. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to this positive impression. The starter, an octopus salad, was visually appealing but rather bland in taste (3/5). The main course, Tagliatelle con Brasato al Barolo, was unfortunately a disappointment – hardly any seasoning, no depth of flavor, and overall carelessly prepared (1/5). It's a shame, because the location and service deserved significantly more culinary potential. Perhaps it just wasn't a good day in the kitchen – but at the moment, it's not a restaurant I would recommend.

I ate there with a friend, and we were both deeply disappointed. Utopian prices that are completely unjustified. My mom owns a restaurant, and I come from a family of restauranteurs and am a passionate and good cook myself—but I really couldn't eat it. I initially ordered the spaghetti with lobster, which was advertised as a "creamy sauce in lobster stock with white wine." Unfortunately, there was no taste of it—neither creamy nor lobster stock nor white wine. Instead, the sauce was more like a simple tomato sauce. The lobster was completely cooked, so everything was just mushy. And they charge €32 for that! I sent the dish back after the first forkful, which the waiter understood. He offered me something else—so I chose Linguine al Limone, because you can't really go wrong with that. Apparently, I did: The dish didn't taste of lemon at all, more like garlic and olive oil. Maybe they'd run out of lemons. I recently made Linguine al Limone at home – and I really could have sold it for €16.50, including some lemon zest (a little tip for the chef). This dish was also charged €16.50. The linguine also had artichokes on it, which were quite tasty, but one had a piece of bacon stuck to it. Luckily, I'm not a vegetarian – that would have been really bad otherwise! But that shows that there's obviously not a proper separation of ingredients in the kitchen. My friend's Bolognese tasted like canned Bolognese. As a thank you for all this, we had stomach aches all evening – the food sat like a stone in our stomachs. Conclusion: Please change the chef or lower the prices significantly. I would have paid €8 at the most for these dishes. I really wish we had eaten somewhere else.

Style over substance. The atmosphere is okay, the service was sub-par and the food - abysmal... The bread basket was stale and there was no butter nor plate provided to pour the olive oil into. My tuna steak was stone cold and tasted like it was mid way through the defrosting process. The basil pesto served with the tuna was evidently over a day old as it was oxidised - a professional kitchen would know to seal basil pesto with a layer of olive oil to prevent this. The experience does not justify the prices quoted on the menu.

Great service, good food, and a pleasant atmosphere We visited Brenner Grill on Saturday at lunchtime as a group of five without a reservation. Although the dining room was very busy, a suitable table was found for us in no time – that's what I call real service! The menu is diverse and appealing; there's something for everyone. The way we handled dietary restrictions is particularly positive: In our case, a gluten intolerance was perfectly accommodated in consultation with the waitress – friendly, competent, and uncomplicated. The atmosphere was lively, a bit loud at times, but still enjoyable to have a conversation. The restrooms were clean and well-maintained. Overall, a very pleasant stay – we felt completely at home and would gladly return!

After a careless tour of the restaurant without being acknowledged by the numerous service staff present, we decided to choose one of the countless free tables. Big mistake! We were lectured on how things should be done according to the apparently responsible person. When we were then assigned another table after a five-minute wait, we decided to choose a more hospitable location for our lunch, and we actually found one! Conclusion: never again

It's only moderately recommended because it's quite loud, and the food is good for the price. BUT: I've never been asked/allowed/able to pay for the toilet service in a restaurant. This isn't a motorway service station! The tip buttons for card payments are also, in my opinion, unworthy of this level of restaurant. A shame.

A very good restaurant with delicious food, good wines, and a great atmosphere. It's (very) large and has a great staff who are experts in their field. Don't sit too close to the kitchen at the back: it's nice in itself, of course, but the fire can get quite warm. Brenner is definitely recommended.

My long anticipation was met with a huge disappointment. The reception, with a reserved table for two, was cold and distant. After 15 minutes of no attention at the table, I left the restaurant... but it was already very loud and uncomfortable. I won't rate the food because it simply didn't happen. A shame!

Unfortunately, our visit to Brenner was disappointing. While the service was kind and the food was average, the restaurant is not accessible for people with disabilities. The restroom is in a separate building, and the accessible toilet was broken. This led to a bleeding injury for my mother, who has mobility issues and should not have to deal with this. For such a well-known place in central Munich, this lack of accessibility is unacceptable. I doubt it meets city regulations and hope the management takes action soon.

⸻ Unbearable experience – disappointing across the board I have rarely had such a disappointing restaurant experience as the one at Brenner in Munich – and that's saying something. What is sold as an upscale dining experience turned out to be an unacceptable low point in terms of culinary and service-oriented performance. The main course was served ice cold twice. Instead of understanding or a professional handling of my complaint, I was simply given a warmed-up version of the same dish – accompanied by an attempt to convince me that it was freshly prepared. This dishonesty is not only embarrassing in a restaurant of this price range, but absolutely unacceptable. The service seemed overwhelmed, inattentive, and at times almost indifferent – no empathy, no sensitivity, no reparation. Even after repeated contact, one felt more like an annoyance than a welcome. A professional handling of criticism? None. The overall picture: a place with ambition, but without substance. Anyone who values quality, honesty, and customer service in both culinary and ambiance should avoid this restaurant. Best regards

The Brenner Grill impresses with its stylish ambiance and is especially enjoyable on the terrace in summer. The pasta was quite good, and the grilled octopus and fish are always delicious. However, the interior was quite noisy, which made conversation difficult. What I found negative: The service, while attentive, was very focused on upsells – salad, espresso, or dessert were constantly being offered. I ordered a glass of wine (0.1l), but was served 0.2l – and of course, I was charged accordingly. In total, the two of us paid almost €100 for lunch – too much for what was offered. Conclusion: Okay for a summer evening on the terrace – but I won't be going back anytime soon.

Great place, highly recommended! We had the mixed grill, it was absolutely delicious. I would only order fries instead of rice. We ate in, it was fantastic and the prices are perfectly reasonable. I'll definitely be back! 😁
