The food was just average. But the beer is definitely recommended. The service was okay, but a bit snippy in some places. I don't think I'll come again.

We had dinner here with the family. The ambience is really beautifully done, you feel comfortable. Our waitress was pretty funky and on the ball, even though her expression told otherwise. Nevertheless, we were looking forward to our meal. However, we were quite disappointed. Kale, which was quite salty, after pointing this out we were told we were the only ones who saw it that way. “Fried potatoes” that were a mess and that I can buy exactly like that in a plastic bag in the supermarket and have absolutely nothing to do with fried potatoes. Different sized side salads, no one knows why.

Very good cuisine! It's always nice to eat here!!! The staff are really friendly and accommodating 👍 The beer is simply great regionally 👍 it's back today. There was duck for me and beer meat for my son. Unfortunately the duck dumplings were solid inside. Not fluffy like outside. Too bad. The duck itself and the red cabbage were perfect. The beer meat had also changed! Much more onions and the sauce is much thinner. OK. Taste is a matter of opinion. Rarely have we eaten so well. Large, varied portion. If you are in the area you should definitely go to the brewery. The service was really nice despite the stress. We felt very, very comfortable. It's a shame that we live almost 500 km away

It looks quite like a historic place and its charme is the diminishing culture of East German cuisine. Their focus point is obviously a kind of place to have a good meal, good beer, but first of all to create an atmosphere of event gastronomy with all sorts of facettes. So don't expect too much quality of food but rather a good time in a relaxed atmosphere.

Beautiful old "Brauhaus" building and restaurant. They have one vegan main dish. It was quite delicious. You get an appetizer (bread with lard), which is not vegan. The waitress also said their beer is not vegan (?!) The atmosphere was nice.

Nice, fast service in a sober brewery atmosphere. Spent bread and greaves, a nice welcome gesture from the kitchen. Both very tasty. Home-brewed beers are very tasty and highly recommended. There is still potential for improvement in the main courses. Schnitzel should be freshly prepared and the breading is also cross, unfortunately that wasn't the case. Potato wedges are the way you want them, peas and carrots can use more pep. Cauliflower with a slight bite, not cooked to death, praiseworthy. Chicken schnitzel, steak four not recommended to death, season the mushroom sauce a little bolder. I'd love to come back. Despite the small recommendations, recommended for a nice evening with friends.

The beer was delicious. The fried Leberkäs with fried potatoes was not a revelation of beer house cuisine, but it was ok. The ambience is okay so far, you sit there next to the yeast in a very original way - is it really still brewing there when the guest can get to the kettle?

Surrounded by lost places, the Zum Alten Dessauer is a restaurant in the typical brewery style with a pleasant atmosphere. The food is rustic. The prices are OK. The beer - we tried the Helle Zwickel and the Weizen - is delicious and should be the reason to visit the brewery.

Three of us were here today! Great dining on several floors and outdoor seating. Super tasty food and generous portions (1/2 duck and grilled knuckle). The home-brewed Hefeweizen was exactly my drink, for my other two companions it was the home-brewed Pilsner. The service also left nothing to be desired, we will be back!!!! Thank you for the lovely evening.

Weil es mir am 1. Abend so gut gefallen hat, bin ich insgesamt 3 mal dort gewesen. Es herrscht eine angenehme, entspannte Atmosphäre, der Gastgarten ist sehr schön, schattig und ruhig gelegen. Das Bier ist lecker, erstaunlichweise insb das alkoholfreie Zwickel, das Essen ist gut und reichlich und wo gibt es noch Schmalz und Brot als kleine Vorspeise. Hervorzuheben ist der Service: aufmerksam, zügig und einfach nett und wohl mit Spaß bei der Sache. Punktabzug gibt's dafür, dass das Essen echt zu schnell kam, dadurch war die Soljanka nicht richtig heiß und die Bratkartoffeln schienen durchaus selbstgemacht, aber auf Vorrat zubereitet und dadurch labbrig.

nice ambience, nice service, my meal was a joke for a main course. some salmon on 2 small potato pancakes (from the ready-made package) with horseradish cream, half a plate full of salad (wasn't on the menu) for just under 20.00 euros, visually the amount of a starter. We chose the restaurant assuming that cooking would still be done here. Price performance wasn't right. A pity -

Update: Food really isn't that good anymore. It was definitely our last visit for the time being.

After making a reservation about 20 times in the restaurant. What's going on???? Prices adjusted very (too) high!!! Less staff. Waited 20 minutes for drinks, 65 minutes for food. Then came a knuckle that was completely dry on the outside - too old, not fresh! kept warm improperly for too long - dumplings, sauce and sauerkraut OK. 4 hours later nausea and severe diarrhea. Since no other food was eaten, the knuckle probably had a “sting”! It's a shame, we've eaten so well there so many times! Now first a very long break to the brewery! A pity! We come from Berlin and are totally spoiled when it comes to gastronomy. Price-performance is no longer right here. Unfortunately, I think of the word “rip-off”!

Unfortunately we were very disappointed this time. The waitress was very nice but the food was very disappointing. A lot of frozen goods and every meal was missing salt and pepper. It just didn't taste like anything. We actually know it differently. And unfortunately for a birthday dinner 👎

As always, the food was very good, you'll definitely get full here. Beer tastes very good. The waiter was very nice and you could tell he was having fun at work. Unfortunately I can't sit inside for more than an hour, the acoustics are exhausting and it echoes.

We were here for lunch on Sunday to celebrate grandma's birthday. The table was reserved in advance and beautifully set. The ambience is great, the waiter was great! Totally friendly and accommodating, that's how it should be, an extra thank you for that. The food was very tasty, the menu offers a large selection of dishes at fair prices. We would love to come back here.

Very nice brewery and very nice service. Everything neat and clean. You will be served quickly. The Schnitzel Mephisto isn't spicy, which I thought was good, but it wasn't really anything special that would knock your socks off. You should definitely try the house beer, and the shandy is also great.

At the end of the sightseeing tour through Dessau we stopped at the “Brauhaus Zum alten Dessauer”. There was baked meatloaf with a fried egg and great fried potatoes for the wife and a spent grain bread schnitzel with 2 fried eggs and coleslaw for me, plus delicious home-brewed Dessauer Zwickelbier. First of all, there was delicious bread from the house with a pot of lard - great! The staff was super friendly and everything went quickly - there's nothing to complain about! The prices are - compared to the current general level - okay, although not cheap. We would like to come again!

Hearty food and delicious Zwickelbier in a pleasant atmosphere. The service is very friendly. We have never had to wait long for food and drinks. Reservations are recommended on weekends. We were there unannounced on January 27th, 2018 and were only lucky enough to get a table. The brewery is a clear recommendation and certainly no longer an insider tip in Dessau.

Staff very good, food not so much. My wife had schnitzel with asparagus. The schnitzel was so good, the asparagus could have been in the pot for a while, it was still very raw.

Today we were in the brewery again for a long time and were extremely satisfied. The ambience is historical and informative, and the space optimization through the gallery is also worth highlighting. The restaurant is clean and welcoming and has an elevator. There are plenty of parking options in the nearby area and are free from 7 p.m. The service staff were all very friendly, polite and accommodating, quick and attentive, and special requests were also received very friendly and fulfilled without any problems. We were very satisfied with the service as well as the food, it was plentiful and hot and of course extremely tasty. We'll definitely be back, because after the lovely dinner we enjoyed a short walk through the adjacent market square and a mini stroll through the town hall center.

The worse restaurant in Dessau, a lady that served us was so rude and ignored English speaking person. I asked about allergens and she did not help just said look in the menu and then when I asked where is the sign for gluten free she said oh if many doesn’t have it then it’s not there . And spoke badly about me to my German speaking partner . The worse place to go to

The food is great, it was hard to decide. BUT the friendliness had a very bland aftertaste. We hadn't reserved a table at the beginning of the week. That was a mistake. Although there were still a few tables free and without "Reserved" signs, our question about a table was answered succinctly with "no". I, astonished, asked again and there was a stupid saying that it was always full. Sorry, but full looks completely different to me. I apologized for thinking I could get a spot at the beginning of the week without a reservation. We were then offered a table where someone had just paid. We gladly accepted that. Another couple unexpectedly left the restaurant again. Afterwards two gentlemen who knew the gentleman behind the bar came and were allowed to sit down. So popularity apparently also plays a role here. Drinks and food came quickly and were very tasty. But being more friendly and less snippy would definitely be good for the restaurant. Maybe a little more openness too.

Great restaurant, quickly reserved 1.5 hours in advance, everything went smoothly. After almost an hour all tables were occupied, which really speaks for itself. The beer is good, the dishes are a real treat for the palate, the service is friendly and quick and the atmosphere is simply priceless.

Visit on Saturday, March 30, 2024. Great atmosphere, but quite unfriendly waitress. The pork neck steak was tough. A piece of wild garlic pesto and cold. The salad with shrimps we ordered wasn't really fresh either. The two shrimps are more like crabs. The price-performance ratio was burdened. At least on this day and with this meal.

Despite not having a reservation, we got a table. The service was friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and filling. We'd love to come back.

Went there on a Friday at 8:40 p.m. and were sent away again because the kitchen was no longer open. The manner was correspondingly unfriendly! Unfortunately we weren't able to try the food, but given the service it's not worth it!

Das Schnitzel war versalzen und dazu gab es lapprige Bratkartoffeln. Nach meinem Hinweis bekam ich als Entschädigung eine heiße Schokolade und den Hinweis aus der Küche, dass das Schnitzel nicht versalzen sei. Ein Umgang mit Gästen sieht anders aus. Zum 1. Mal bin ich enttäuscht vom Brauhaus.

Ate a pork schnitzel with cheese gratin there in the evening (Mephisto). Didn't taste good. Cartilage included. The breading came off everywhere. Plus soggy and over-salted fried potatoes. 22.5 euros for this according to the card is far too expensive. The beer is very good though. The food used to be better.

It was so full in the evening that guests even had to be turned away. Reservation is therefore recommended. That gave us culinary hope. The ambience is good and the service was nice, but unfortunately the quality of the food suffered: the bread from the burger was still cold (defrosted too recently?) and the salad had apparently been ready in the fridge for several hours, and the chicken on it was bland definitely fried from the frozen food. The prices are definitely too high for that (17€) and you actually want to enjoy yourself in the restaurant. A pity. We'll try out the competition in the area again.

Nice brewery with corresponding kitchen. Mondays are pork day! The own beer is delicious. Personally, I would like a brewery to brew beers other than light, dark and wheat more often. Sehr nettes Personal, Essen und Bier sehr lecker!!! Immer Saisonale Angebote.

Wir waren am Freitag zum Mittag das erste mal im Brauhaus und ich bin mehr als enttäuscht. Das Ambiente war ganz ok, doch der Service ließ zu wünschen übrig. Nachdem man von einer sehr unhöflichen Kellnerin gefragt wurde was man essen möchte und man ein Menü aus der Mittagskarte nannte, entnahm sie einem die Karte und fragte ob wir denn auch was anderes essen wollen. Dazu fragte sie woher wir die Karte hätten (die auf dem Tisch lag) und machte uns darauf aufmerksam dass diese Karte nur von Montag bis Freitag gültig ist. Ja schön und gut, es war Freitag… Des Weiteren schien die Dame oftmals sehr überfordert und gereizt. Das Essen war dafür ganz gut und schön angerichtet. Zum Ende bediente uns eine andere Kellnerin, der ich mein größtes Lob aussprechen möchte. Sehr freundlich, humorvoll und ambitioniert. Dennoch werde ich kein zweites Mal da Essen gehen.

Waren heute nach einem Jahr wieder in der Gaststätte. Hatten reserviert und freuten uns, da es mein nachträgliches Geburtstagsgeschenk werden sollte. Die Freude hielt nicht lange an. Es gab eine Mittagskarte als DIN 4 Blatt mit knappe 10 Gerichten. Grund Personalmangel. Eine Getränkekarte wurde gar nicht angeboten. Das Essen kam und glich einem warm gemachten Mikrowellen Essen. Nach Reklamation des Essens, weil es lauwarm war, wirkte die Bedienung genervt und riss mir den Teller vom Tisch. Der Schweinebraten hatte kein Geschmack von gebraten, sondern wie besseres Kochfleisch. Das Bierfleisch war in kleine zermatschte Fleichfetzen und mit große Zwiebelstücken die noch halb roh waren. Wir sind immer sehr gerne in dieses Restaurant gekommen, aber bei diesem hohen Preisen und dem Angebot nicht wieder. Sehr enttäuscht gewesen.

Wir waren heute nach vielen Jahren wieder im Restaurant zum Mittagessen. Optisch hat sich das Haus in den letzten 18 Jahren offensichtlich nicht verändert. Der erste Eindruck strahlt Gemütlichkeit aus. Der zweite Eindruck war dann leider sehr ernüchternd und enttäuschend. Die Speisekarte für den Mittagstisch verdient diesen Namen nicht. Eine Minikarte mit einem Angebot, dass kleiner ist als bei einem Imbiss um die Ecke. Von den drei bestellten Essen wurden zwei serviert. Bei dem dritten wusste die Küche offensichtlich nicht was sie zubereiten sollte und hat irgendwas gekocht. Also entstand zu der Wartezeit eine weitere Wartezeit für die Zubereitung des gewünschten Essens. Leider waren die ersten beiden Essen ungenießbar. Die Bratkartoffeln eiskalt, das Bierfleisch durch den hohen Anteil an Kassler, total versalzen. Das Fleisch glich einem undefinierbaren Brei und erinnerte an verkochtes Gulasch. Die Rückgabe des Essens an den nicht so gut deutschsprechenden Kellner, hätten wir uns sparen können. Er hatte keinerlei Interesse an unserer Reklamation und räumte ohne ein Wort des Bedauerns, einfach ab. Das dritte Essen kam dann recht schnell und erweckte den Eindruck eines in der Mikrowelle zubereiteten Fertiggerichts. Service in der Gastronomie geht anders. Zumal die Preise, für die gelieferte Qualität, völlig überzogen sind.

Absolut Hunde unfreundlich, nicht zu empfehlen. Man wollte uns mit einem Yorkshire Terrier, der keinen Mucks von sich gibt, erst nicht mal herein lassen. Ausserdem so gut wie kein Essen glutenfrei.

Gemütliche Wirtschaft im Stadtzentrum mit gutem Service und leckerem Essen... der Wildschweinbraten mit Rotkohl und Salzkartoffeln war sehr gut... zudem war die Bedienung sehr aufmerksam... einziges Manko ist der Zustand des Parkplatzes, viele Unebenheiten mit großen Wasseransammlungen nach den Regenfällen... insgesamt empfehlenswert 👌

Derzeit wird von 11.30 Uhr bis 16.30 Uhr eine Mittagstischspeisekarte mit ca. 10 Gerichten angeboten, wegen Personalmangel. Im Internet wird darauf aber nicht hingewiesen, auch nicht, wenn man Plätze vorreserviert. Wir hatten Plätze reserviert und sind mit dem Taxi ( meine Eltern sind 85 Jahre alt und nicht mehr so gut zu Fuss) extra zum "Ente essen" hingefahren. Und dann diese "böse Überraschung". Das Personal hat sich alle Mühe gegeben, um freundlich zu wirken, war aber merklich, genau so frustriert, wie die Gäste, das Essen war leider auch nur durchschnittlich. Für den Personalmangel habe ich absolutes Verständnis, aber NICHT dafür, dass diese neue Mittagsregelung NICHT auf der Website angegeben wird. SO verprellt man seine Gäste.

Wunderschönes Ambiente. Nichts negatives zu berichten.

Wir waren als Gruppe von neun Personen hier. Wir hatten telefonisch vorab einen Tisch reserviert, das hat ganz prima geklappt. Der Service war ganz prima, freundlich und schnell. Das Essen war fantastisch und wurde uns mit mehreren Servicekräften an den Tisch gebracht, damit wir als große Gruppe zusammen essen konnten. Das hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Mein Schnitzel Mephisto hat mir sehr gut geschmeckt. Die Kellnerin die uns bediente war sehr lustig und sehr pfiffig, sie hatte bereits indirekt die Bestellung in die zusammen gehörenden Paare unterteilt, sodass die Bezahlung Pärchenweise kein Problem darstellte. Nächste Woche werden wir das Brauhaus wieder besuchen. Ich freue mich schon drauf.

Zu Gast im Brauhaus: Die Getränke werden vor Ort hergestellt, also das Bier und die Fassbrause. Das Essen war super lecker, der Mitarbeiter war sehr freundlich und regelmäßig am Tisch um nach unseren Wünschen zu fragen. Es war ein sehr schöner Abend. Auf jedem Fall zu empfehlen.

Am Ambiente hat sich nichts geändert. Das Essen hat keine Qualität mehr zumal sich die Preise deutlich erhöht haben . Erstmal keine Besuche dort geplant.

Es gibt einen eigenen Parkplatz. Wenn man rein kommt wird man freundlich vom Personal begrüßt. Das Bestellen der Getränke sowie des Essens ging auch sehr flott und ohne Probleme. Das Essen hat sehr lecker geschmeckt und es waren ausreichend große Portionen. Preis-Leistung stimmt auch.

Fangen wir mal bei den Gerichten an. Keiner hat gemeckert, aber ein Lob kam auch nicht rüber. Da ist trotz Massenbetrieb Luft nach oben. Der Service war akzeptabel und die Brauhaus-Atmosphäre ist angenehm.

Brauhaus zum Alten Dessauer sollte man unbedingt mitnehmen. Ambiente ist sehr schön gemacht von innen. Essen haben sie eine sehr große Auswahl und auch die Speisekarte ist sehr gut dargestellt 👍🏽👍🏽 Personal ist nett und geben sich viel Mühe auch wenn das Restaurant gut besucht ist. Ist weiter zu empfehlen 😉

Traditionelles Lokal im Zentrum der Stadt. Hübscher Gastgarten. Tüchtige und freundliche Bedienung. Gutes, deftiges Essen, riesige Portionen für gute Esser. Verschiedene Bierspezialitäten. Vernünftige Preise.

Bedienung sehr nett. Bier war perfekt. Das Essen war einfach nicht gut. Schweinshaxe war x-fach aufgewärmt und daher trocken und zäh. Die Champignons aus der Dose oder aus dem Glas. Der Brokoli verkocht. Die Herzoginkartoffeln aus der Tiefkühltruhe. Alles kein Genuss.
