Brauhaus Pütz in Köln

We're regulars here! We always love coming back! The food arrives quickly and is always excellent! The service couldn't be better!

We've been here twice and were very impressed both times. The service is friendly, fast, and simply excellent. The food is very good. Yesterday I had the venison goulash. Top-notch!

I made a completely spontaneous reservation on a Saturday night with only half an hour's notice, and the staff managed to get me a table and give us one of the best experiences we had in Cologne. Even when there was a misunderstanding with our order, they resolved it quickly. The atmosphere of the place (typically German, with constant refills of local beer) and the service were excellent. Highly recommended!

Great location, excellent food and friendly waiters

Very old school and cool brauhaus off the main thoroughfares. My favorite brauhaus in the city. It seems like it's all locals here, and given how great it is here, it's very understandable as to why that is. I had the schweinhaxe, or bone-in pork knuckle. 1.2kg, and they weren't kidding. If you like ham, if you like pork scratchings, pork rinds or chicharrones, you will like this dish. I tried to take it down alone. Failed miserably. Comfortably a two person serving. That said, the entire time I felt like a Viking. No, by the end, I felt like the Aesir in Valhalla. I thought, "Yes. This is what they eat. And this is the quantity that they eat. Because they are gods not bound by mortal limitations." Also, I was fairly drunk by the end. The waiters really are excellent about bringing you a fresh beer every time you find the bottom of your glass. The beer is my favorite kölsch in Cologne, Mühlen. It's very drinkable, not bitter at all, and chilled while not being too cold, which I think is perfect for this beer. TL;DR Food is very good and high quality, the kölsch keeps coming and the waiters are very much on point. Really lovely gentlemen, and they make you feel taken care of without feeling oppressing. Their English is not great, but we still communicated perfectly well and we shared a few laughs. Amazing place. Highly recommend.

A brewery that's simply fantastic. This Cologne-style Kölsch/Kübes concept is just brilliant. The food was also very good, and the beer arrives without being asked until you signal that you're done by putting the lid on your glass. What's there to complain about?

The brewery is very nice, however, seating is ONLY available with a 2-hour reservation!!!

The food was delicious and plentiful, and the service staff was friendly and attentive. The ambiance is a bit dated, but clean.

The pork knuckle was okay, but nothing special. The same goes for the other dishes: Himmel un Ääd (mashed potatoes and applesauce), bratwurst, and Schnitte (sliced ​​pork), which could have been more generous in portion size. The fact that the creamy mushroom sauce used canned mushrooms instead of fresh ones was also somewhat disappointing. The ambiance and service are acceptable for a traditional Cologne brewery in the city.

A truly charming restaurant with very attentive and friendly service. Our waiter deserves special mention; he always kept a watchful eye on the supply of freshly tapped Kölsch 😉 The food was absolutely delicious across the board (our group had soups, (malt) schnitzel, kale, pork knuckle, sauerbraten, and venison goulash), and the portions were perfectly adequate.

Despite our festive mood upon arrival... the owner and the waiter, whom we discovered to be Italian after our third beer, gave us a warm welcome and a friendly recommendation. A nice place without too many frills, but with quality beer and memorable dishes. The evening ended with an impeccable beer service, comparable to changing tires on a Ferrari in F1. Thank you

Great restaurant with its own brewery. The food was fantastic, delicious, and the service was fast and friendly. Cleanliness of the premises could be improved. There were cobwebs on the light fixtures. The restrooms were poorly ventilated.

A Kölsch pub with classic Kölsch food – great, friendly service even when it's full. It's always busy, but it still works, which is probably why it's so popular. We had Himmel un Ääd (Heaven and Earth) – it was fantastic. They keep refilling and topping up the Kölsch until the glass is full. Works perfectly.

Typical cologne brewry pub. Must see for non colonists. Lovely staff. Food was excelent and fairly priced. Will come again!!!

Nice brewery, attentive service, good food and atmosphere - definitely worth a visit, especially for those who like to drink Kölsch and eat good, traditional food.

We had properly reserved the standing tables downstairs for 10 people in the comments section. We didn't want to eat and didn't want to take a table away from other guests who did. On site, we were told that the tables couldn't be reserved. So what were the "reserved" signs for? Everything would have been fine except for the owner. His unfriendly way of informing me was quite shocking. Is that how you treat a grown woman? Either I recommend a course in etiquette, or I shouldn't present myself as the first point of contact with such an arrogant and cold-hearted demeanor. What a shame.

5 stars! The food are delicious. I really enjoyed schnitzel and bratwurst. Portions are considered big for us Thai. Staffs were super friendly. They were very helpful and kind. The front of restaurant looked quiet but when you walk inside it was very packed with customers and very lively. Really enjoyed the meal here.

Small but nice brewery. Very cozy, with the usual good service. Delicious beer and delicious food. When it's busy, it can get a bit loud. The restrooms have a bit of a strong smell, but you don't have to stay there long. I'll definitely be back!

Good drinkers pub in Köln, an easy walk from Rudolfplatz. Mühlen Kolsch. Worth reserving if you want to eat or are in a larger group.

Damn good! This is what I expect from a Cologne brewery. It's cozy and rustic, the Kolsch is as expected, galore, and the food was fantastic. I had Himme un Äärd (a kind of beer) and was absolutely thrilled. It was a childhood memory. I love it!

I don't quite understand how the 4.5* rating came about. Typical Cologne service, always fresh, delicious Mühlen, that was perfect. But the food: I had the malted schnitzel with fries. The schnitzel wasn't really big, but it was quite chewy. The quantity of fries also left something to be desired, and they don't include mayo or ketchup. That would be fair game at a train station snack bar, but at a brewery where you pay €19.90 for it? Better to go to Oma Kleinmann and pay €3 more for an excellent schnitzel the size of a toilet seat.

A wonderful brewery, somewhat removed from the tourist trap of the "Old Town" between Neumarkt and Rudolfplatz. A friend once called it "the brewery for immigrants," meaning those not born in Cologne. The waiters, who are also called "Köbes" here, are witty and quick-witted, but not malicious. The menu is small but fine, the food fresh and delicious. There should be something for everyone (even vegans). The drinks served are primarily Kölsch, specifically Mühlen Kölsch (also alcohol-free). There are also, of course, soft drinks and spirits/strong liquors. Interestingly, the Mühlen Kölsch brewery is actually one of the few producers in Germany to produce real malt beer (not to be confused with malt drink = alcohol-free). A very tasty, sweet, malty, and dark drink with (I believe) 2.7 percent alcohol. The decor is inspired by classic breweries, but has its own pleasant touch. We've been meeting here regularly for years with colleagues from all over North Rhine-Westphalia. And they always want to go to Brauhaus Pütz in Cologne! No Ruhr area, no Sauerland, no, it has to be Pütz in Cologne! I think that says a lot! 🙂 I always enjoy going there, too. It's always a good idea to reserve a table, especially on weekends, as it's naturally particularly busy then. There's also some seating outside on the street. I wouldn't call it a beer garden, but it is outside.

Unfortunately, I can't recommend it. Over €20 for a Wiener Schnitzel is simply not right, especially considering its embarrassing size for a brewery 👎🏼 The Kölsch was good, hence the two stars.

The food is quite good, the atmosphere is typical of a brewery, and the service is friendly. Unfortunately, the prices have risen exorbitantly. There are cheaper alternatives all around.

Second time along in this Brauhaus, unfortunately with not so good reviews as two years ago. The staff were friendly and attentive as always. The overall atmosphere was again incredibly pleasant. The food was not quite right this time. I think it arrived at most 5 minutes after ordering it. None of the dishes should have been able to be completed that quickly. My schnitzel was probably the worst part. The meat was not fresh. Definitely not spoiled, but it wasn't quite right either. The sauce tasted bland as well, almost as it was just a concentrate mixed with hot water. The other dish was a bit better as the meat was clearly slow cooked and seasoned well. The sauce there was also not great as it was so filled with raisns that the whole dish tasted more like a dessert. I might have to skip the food next time, but could visit again for the beer and vibes.

A great brasserie, the food was very good (special mention to the huge curry wurst) and the service was breathtakingly efficient; we didn't have time to get thirsty! I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Cologne who's looking for a good Kölsch!

The rump steak for all three of us not only had a fat edge, but the tendon went deep into the meat.

I found the food (Himmel un Äd) below average. I found the service impeccable. I liked the ambiance. At Haus Töller or Peters an Hahnentor, I get a more extensive, regional menu and tastier food than here. Sorry, but even in large restaurants like Früh or Gaffel, I get better food. If you only care about beer and like Mühlen Kölsch, this is the place for you. The two "Köbese" are uncharacteristically friendly and deserve my 5 stars. So if you're looking for a traditional brewery AND good brewery cuisine, go somewhere else. Oh yeah: I'm hanging my clothes out to air out now...

A true Cologne brewery experience! We were completely thrilled at Pütz Brauhaus! The food was truly delicious – freshly prepared, hearty, and authentic. The service was excellent: super friendly, attentive, and prompt, without being intrusive. Particularly noteworthy is the cozy, rustic ambiance, which creates a relaxed and informal atmosphere. You simply feel at home here. We'll definitely be back – a clear recommendation!

I have nothing against the decor. It's old but rustic, just fitting for a brewery 😉 Still, they could clean regularly and remove the cobwebs and the numerous dead flies on the windowsill. (That was one of the examples.) The food itself, hmm... just ready-made products that are warmed up in the microwave or deep fryer, not heated. The service was reasonably nice.

Delicious Cologne food. Quick service, but not exactly cheap. Good and friendly service. Spartan decor, but it's a brewery, so you don't need any frills. What was good was that you can still get something to eat after 10 p.m. I would come back.

Laat je niet afschrikken door de eerste aanblik van dit restaurant, binnen is het echt gezellig. Het eten is echt degelijk Duits, eenvoudig maar eerlijk en goed bereid. Ik heb asperges gegeten met aardappelen en ham, een heerlijke maaltijd. Het personeel is vriendelijk, snel en efficiënt.

A hand placed lovingly on my shoulder whispers in my ear: “Here we have a beer for the first time”. And without saying anything, I hold the first Kölsch in my hand. The evening continues with this wonderful attention from the staff. Thank you very much, we felt very comfortable with you.

The vegetarian salad with fried potatoes and two eggs was very tasty and huge! The Köbes was very friendly and generally good service on site. It's better to reserve in advance. I would have liked to try the vegan meat loaf, but at €24 it was simply disproportionately expensive, which doesn't compare to the other prices.

Always top-notch. The service, in particular, was once again fantastic. Pütz is one of the breweries in Cologne where the waiters manage to strike just the right balance between Cologne-style banter/teasing/unfriendliness, thus authenticity, and attentive service, so that we feel very well looked after. We had a reservation, arrived early, and were even able to change tables to have a better conversation. Thank you!

We had a lovely evening; despite the brewery atmosphere, we were able to have a decent conversation. Even if you're not a meat lover, you'll find something to suit your taste. The salad with fried egg and fried potatoes was delicious (though the fried potatoes were relatively soft, not particularly crispy) and the price was reasonable (€12). The vegan Leberkäse (meatloaf) was a bit steep at €24. We're not a fan of the fact that you only have a table for two hours. While this is known in advance and not unusual in breweries, it's a shame when you're having a lovely evening, only to be charged promptly after two hours and have to find another location.

Der Aufenthalt im Freundeskreis war positiv bestimmt durch den sehr aufmerksamen und fixen Köbes, der uns bestens versorgte. Leider konnte die Küche da nicht nicht mithalten. Abgesehen von der mittlerweile brauhaustypischen, durch Speisestärke vermatschten Gemüsepampe (Rotkohl wie Wirsing), war die bestellte Bratwurst unterirdisch. Letztere hatte stellenweise einen wohl durch Gefrierbrand erzeugten Haut Gout. Die Bratkartoffeln waren hingegen ok. Fazit => Kölsch lecker und schön kühl, Köbes auf Zack, aber das warme Essen kann ich nicht empfehlen.

Food and service was fine. Can recommend to everyone.

Were there at the carnival and everything was perfect. Beer was very good, nice people, good music and a nice celebration. A small criticism of Rande: There are so many beautiful Cologne carnival songs that you don't have to listen to any of them again after 2 hours.

I celebrated my birthday at Brauhaus Pütz with a large group of people. We were given excellent service, all of the food arrived in time and was of excellent quality and we had a fabulous time that will definitely warrant another visit.

It's ok, standard brewery. The food was tasty, but nothing special. Too expensive for a remote and empty Bauhaus.

As a Cologne resident, I can highly recommend this brewery. They have the best knuckles here and Ivo brings out Kölsch faster than you can see.

De primera. Excelente nudillo de cerdo y cerveza Kölsch. Muy lleno y el personal es atento. Currywurst (salchicha) también merece una mención para la salsa de curry.
