Buffet, main course selectable from a small menu. Uninspired, steaks all cooked unevenly, schnitzel and fries of fast-food quality. Eight times sauerbraten, once a side of red cabbage after the meal. But the worst part was, it was hard to get a beer.

It was expensive, especially for the portion sizes. Kölsch just tastes like weak north american beer, and the food came out very staggered ~10 minutes between dishes. Service was friendly but nothing special and the server stopped speaking to me when I didn't want to offer a tip lol Food tastes ok, but again, nothing blew me away. The only nreally nice thing was the atmosphere.

This is the most famous restaurant in Cologne. Their specialty is Kölsch, a Cologne beer that is light and easy to drink. They'll bring you a refill right away. They have a wide variety of food options. Sauerbraten: A local dish of marinated and stewed meat. I had that. Two beers cost about 5,000 yen.

A place with a lot of history, a nice place to stop for a meal

Food was great. The staff was very friendly and happy. And the atmosphere made me feel at home. I am sooo very glad we found this restaurant. Great sausages and lentil soup.

Stopped in for lunch and beer and we weren't disappointed. The beer was so crisp and clean and it paired well with the food. The tomato soup was amazing and my wife enjoyed the pork knuckle. Cool, old world vibe. Next door is a gift store with a tap where you can buy a beer. Handy.

The service was a disaster. At first everything was going fine and the service was great but when it came for payment, the waiter requested tip from the credit card interface, I said that I couldn't because it was a business card and we can't tip with it. His behaviors completely turned after I said that and he literally became rude and made me wait for more than 10min just to get my receipt after payment. He was doing his business away from me and when I asked him about it he was always like 'yea yea' and then went away again. I don't care how busy your place is, you don't make a customer wait that long just to get the receipt. I had to ask the man behind the bar that the waiter refused to give it to me. Then only he gave it to me still being rude. Indeed, you don't deserve any tips for this behavior. That's very sad.

I was absolutely blown away by my experience at Früh Kölsch—it can only be described as my Mecca of beer. I ordered a fresh brat that was out of this world, perfectly paired with, of course, the best Kölsch in Cologne. The atmosphere was incredible, lively and full of energy, and the location couldn’t be better—just steps from the Cathedral and right by the Christmas Markets. An unforgettable experience for any beer lover visiting Cologne!

An exceptional brewery in Cologne, a must-visit. A huge place where you can go for lunch or dinner, or simply enjoy an excellent beer. The service is very friendly and attentive. Definitely worth repeating and recommending.

The shinitzel was delicious. The atmosphere was authentic, but we sat in the restaurant side. We found a seat quickly during Christmas Market with eight of us. Overall, it was good.

Mediocre. The place is really impressive, especially with its charmingly labyrinthine layout. Service is efficient, which somewhat matches the hustle and bustle and noise level. On Friday evenings, this can be quite exhausting! The food is decent; the kale (€16) is quite good, the schnitzel (€18) rather weak. The prices are too high for the quality; it seems like you're paying more for the location than for the ingredients.

It was absolutely insane! We were there on a Sunday. It was a "eat or die" situation, a real mess, a mega-crowded restaurant with a massive influx of guests. One person was standing up, the next was waiting to sit down. Our first waiter was almost aggressive, which was understandable given the sheer volume of customers. Then the shift changed, and we got a more relaxed waiter, as they had just started their shift. The food arrived incredibly quickly. It would be nice if the beer glasses were served full, instead of almost half full. My schnitzel was unfortunately swimming in grease, and for the price, I would have expected a small side salad. Nevertheless, I think you know what you're getting into when you walk into this restaurant: a combination of gastronomy, action, and entertainment, something like that.

We went to Früh for a morning drink with our veterans' team. It was fantastic. Great food, excellent service, and a unique atmosphere. We easily reached the minimum spend in three hours... ;)

Restaurant: I don't think I saw the sign. I looked it up on Google Maps and figured, "This is the right place," so I went in. Around 4:30 PM, a bit early for dinner, it was incredibly crowded. I didn't think there would be any seating, but when I told them there were two of us, they showed us to a table, and the interior was very spacious. Food: It was delicious. It's a brewery, but it tasted like a specialty haxe place. The crust was crispy and the meat was moist. My wife and I went and ordered the Schweinhaxe and Schnitzel. Both were generous portions. The Schweinhaxe didn't have any gamey smell and was a solid main course. Alcohol: They brought us Kölsch almost as soon as we sat down. As soon as we sat down, they laid out napkins and asked, "Two beers?" The glasses seemed to be 200ml, and I didn't see any larger ones at other tables. Atmosphere: It was lively and bustling. That's why I gave it 4 stars.

This is my favorite brauhaus in Germany. It's a little pricey, but nothing disappoints, no matter what you order. There are plenty of seats, so you won't have to wait even when it's busy.

For larger groups, it's best to reserve a table.

Very good beer hall 2-3 minutes walk from Cologne Cathedral. Large and comfortable space. Many helpful waiters. Large portions of good food. Excellent prices.

The beer 🍺 was good (a bit weak, but good). But the food 🫘 was SPECTACULAR... Definitely worth repeating.

Great atmosphere! The service staff is very friendly and attentive. The food – especially the head cheese – and the Kölsch beer are excellent! The only slight disappointment was the apple strudel, which wasn't quite up to par. But there's always something, isn't there? We'll definitely be back!

Food was a bit salty, but generally is good. Multi level restaurant, even some at underground. If you are first time here, you probably dont know where to go and what to do. So crowded with people walking here and there, and you really have to hunt for a table even for 2, after trying and waiting for more than 20minutes, finally we have a seat. Then another waiting for staff to serve you. Which multiple call for waiter, but all keep telling you wait a minutes, later my colleague will come to you, or said this table is not under me, shall be handle by someone else Then finally a young guy name Toberio holzer, He is empathy and asking if there is anyone serve us yet and offer his help to take order and taking care our dining. The stars I gave increase immediately with this person serving me. To the owner, please take good promotion of this staff. He is great ! You need more people like this to work for you. Otherwise, I will not be back again.

My portion of food was very small and not very filling. The price wasn't right for the quality. The staff was friendly.

The server was amazing and wonderful ! I forget his name but he was from morroco he literally deserves to own the restaurant and get all the tips in the world. He was so attentive and hilarious also spoke lots of languages. Had a great time and enjoyed the atmosphere. If you own this place please give him a raise. Thanks

A must-stop for lunch in Cologne. A truly authentic spot. We ordered the local Kölsch beer, which comes in 200ml bottles, unlike the rest of Germany where you can order half a liter. For dinner, we had some delicious Käsespetzle.

Everyone is so sweet, and it's a historic establishment. You'll have a really fun time. They'll refill your beer unless you cover it with a beer mat, so be careful. ☺️ It's a place where you can have a good time, take a short break, and enjoy a beer. Definitely stop by.

Despite it being November 11th and the large number of revelers, we got a table right away. The service was very friendly and efficient. The food was typical and regional. The atmosphere was rustic and cozy. Highly recommended!

Once you place an order, the service is excellent and fast. However, if you go on a busy night, it can be difficult to find a table or even stop a waiter to order food. The beer is top-notch.

The place is awesome, the service staff is very friendly and heart welcoming, but the food wasn’t that good, the pork knuckle has strong pork taste like it was old, so thats why we dont like it. The other dish was kind of ok. The thing that we were sharing table with two strangers was kind of weird for us and that ruined the idea of little time for ourselves

Fast service despite the restaurant being full. The food is simple but very tasty. The atmosphere is okay, but personally it was too loud for me.

Imagine a hot summer day, after shopping in the city. The cathedral casts a long shadow. You're thirsty and see the throng outside the "Früh" (a popular beer hall). You look for a free seat but can't find one. So you stand at the front by the bar. Immediately, a "Köbes" (waiter) comes and silently hands you a "Stange" (a small glass of beer). You instantly smile and down the first gulp. The Köbes turns around and gives you another glass. Then you sink into paradise...

The atmosphere was good, authentically Cologne. Delicious Frühkölsch, 'Schuß', or other mixed drinks are no longer available. The potato soup was tasty, though I would have preferred a bit more volume and a richer flavor. The soup reminded me of the charming saying: "Five were invited, ten came, pour water into the soup, welcome everyone!" ;)) Anyway, it was good, and the rye roll was delicious.

So much fun dining here. Food is good (typical German food) and the beer is amazing and so fresh ... The staff here is one of the service crew I have experienced in Europe. You will never run out of beer to drink.

We had the pleasure of celebrating our wedding on November 14, 2025, at Früh am Dom in the Heinzelmännchen Room. From the organization to the food and the service, everything was superb. I can highly recommend it. The view of the cathedral and the Christmas market was especially priceless.

If you want to experience the atmosphere of a German pub, this is a great option. While some might find the practice of placing glasses or goblets a bit rude, it's okay if you understand it's just a way to handle the influx of orders. The food was delicious, and the reasonable price seemed to attract a lot of customers. While the mushroom schnitzel sauce could have been a bit thicker and creamier, it was well-balanced. The fourth dish, a sausage topped with potatoes, bacon, and a spinach cream sauce, was quite tasty. The meaty flavor was truly captivating.

Excellent as always. The Kölsch was delicious, and I had a good veal schnitzel with it. A perfect evening.

The place is beautiful,the food mediocre and our waiter was polite. However,I rate with one star because the behaviour of one of the waiters was inadmissible:he was litterally pushing us out, as the restaurant would close in a few minutes.He was also making fun of us.I have enough of this in this journey, of people being rude and impolite.

Perhaps one of the best restaurants I've eaten at in Germany, with the best possible service. Great food! Try the daily specials too!

The culinary experience was outstanding—the Schnitzel and salad were delicious, and the Kölsch was perfectly served. However, the service was severely lacking and unprofessional. Our waiter was quite rude, and when paying the €45 check, he aggressively argued with me over a €3 tip, wrongly insisting on a 20% 'US norm' Management should address staff behavior, as this expectation is completely inappropriate and well above the German standard 5-10% gratuity.

A brewery doesn't necessarily have to look like it did 60 years ago. Everything here is very old-fashioned. And the worst part: the toilet reeked of urine on Sunday morning. Not very inviting.

A very lively and cozy brewery! Despite the crowds, the atmosphere was friendly. The Kölsch was fresh and delicious, and the veal schnitzel was also very good. A classic Cologne spot – highly recommended.

It's like wandering through a labyrinth, with no clear direction of entry or exit. The areas are divided into chapels, and I suspect your seating area influences your dining experience and the waiter's attentiveness. My friend said he enjoyed his previous visit, but our experience wasn't as pleasant. The waiter was very aggressive, almost refilling anyone's beer without even asking. It didn't make me feel very comfortable, so I might not go back.

Unfortunately, as a woman, I always received less beer than my male companions, there is no vomit basin for women, and the service was rude.

Upon asking a question at the restaurant bar about where we order drinks, I was met by the rudest waitress ever to grace my presence, frowned at me, shouted “not here”, then when I asked me where do I go? She turned her back on me whilst just stood doing nothing and decided to blank me for no reason. The actual building is great however if you cannot deal with customers asking questions which they are within their right to do, don’t work in the industry. Simple

Spectacular place to stop and have a beer!! Right next to the cathedral. The restaurant is huge and super traditional. We didn't eat, we just had the famous beer in a 200ml glass. It's quite common for people to ask to sit at your table if the place is full and there are empty spaces at the table.

This is the perfect place if you want to meet mickey mouse. First of all, when I entered the place there was nobody there to help me get a table, despite having an army of waiters. Then I got a table myself, ordered food, the food arrived quite fast, and suddenly saw a small mouse walking around my feet. Disgusting. I immediately paid and left.

Went there while left stranded at the train station by DB delays. It was much nicer than expected: the bratwurst was by far the best I’ve had in 3 years in Germany, the bier was good, and the service impeccable.

It's a pretty nice place, but the security was the worst I've ever encountered. I wasn't allowed into the building to my reserved table even though I had a drink from the bar. I was even asked to leave until I finished my drinks. Thanks, Wuvo or Wovu.

A traditional brewery right near the cathedral. Therefore, it's very overrun with tourists. There are alternatives, though…

It's a lovely venue, perfect for a group of people who are happy and entertained, although space might be a bit of a challenge. I don't think it's suitable for families with children, but if they're a bit older, they'll enjoy it too. The food is quite good, and of course, the local beer is excellent. If you're ever in the area, definitely come.

Not recommended, small amount of food per plate and the waiter insisted on giving a tip (which we did not give him) and afterwards responded very rudely and complained about not giving him one.

The food was really good, but the waiter was a bit overzealous. I was there with my daughter, sister, and a best friend. My daughter's bill was added to my sister's without asking, and my best friend and I were billed together without any inquiry. I'm in the food service industry myself and found that rather unprofessional. Therefore, there was no tip, and he even drank a beer in front of my underage daughter. I didn't think that was great. It certainly didn't make a good impression.

I highly recommend this traditional restaurant in Cologne! We went off-season and didn't need a reservation, but that's something to keep in mind...the traditional dishes were delicious and the value for money was fantastic, especially considering it's right next to the cathedral! The apple compote was spectacular!
