Food was very good, service was quick and friendly, and the atmosphere was very cozy. Would gladly come again!

The large, inexpensive (€10.80) shoulder of pork with dumplings and cabbage was a dream. The service was fast and friendly. Maisel beer is always delicious. If you're looking for a dining experience with overpriced food, this is the wrong place ;-) Here you get food like your mom used to make :-) We'd love to come back 8-)

A lovely and cozy inn on Bayreuth's market square. The ambiance is typical of Franconia. The bar area is rustic and comfortable. It's a pleasant place to sit. The sausages are grilled on an open grill. The menu is very diverse and should offer something for everyone. The staff is friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and would gladly return. The prices are very reasonable.

We only had drinks there. The service was very attentive. Our dogs were immediately given water and were warmly welcomed. We would gladly go there again anytime.

After reading the negative reviews of the Jägerschnitzel over the past few months, we thought they'd definitely learned something after so much constructive criticism. Wrong thought. Spätzle from a package, cold and completely flavorless. A little butter, lightly frying, and seasoning with a little salt would be something. The mushroom cream sauce was also cold and watery. The cream must have been left on the side while cooking. At least a little salt and pepper would be something even for an untrained cook. The schnitzel was large and flavorful enough, and nice and hot from the grill - unfortunately, it was tough. The turkey pan was really bad, as others have also criticized. The staff is very friendly and approachable.

We arrived at the restaurant with a group of 10 people without a reservation and received a very friendly welcome. Even though the place was busy, the friendly staff still accommodated us. The food and drinks were delicious.

We only had a drink there. It's a lovely location with a view of the market square and Maximilianstrasse. Very good service; they serve draft beer outside, so you'll be served quickly.

Contrary to some reviews, the portion was more than sufficient and the flavors were perfectly balanced. The two waitresses were very friendly and even accommodated a request for a change after five minutes. The vegetarian option (cheese plate) was also tasty and plentiful. Summary: We were completely satisfied, felt at home, and would gladly return.

Unfortunately, I can't understand the negative reviews at all. If you want to enjoy traditional Franconian food, this is the place to be! My husband and I were exploring Bayreuth and happened upon this lovely little restaurant. We sat in the beer garden and enjoyed the wonderful sunshine. I even took a quick look inside; it was comfortably lit and beautifully warm, with a pleasant decor. Lots of pictures and flowers, beautiful lettering on the signs, etc. The waitresses were super friendly and helpful, checking on us regularly. I even got into a great conversation. I haven't had a good conversation in so long. Overall, the three of us had a wonderful evening. I ordered the Schäufele (shoulder of pork), and it was simply delicious. The meat was tender, incredibly crispy, and the dumpling was a nice size. The sauce was heavenly and perfectly salted. My husband had the grilled meat, which (in his opinion) was also exceptionally delicious. The beer was also delicious, just what you need after a long day. The prices are also unbeatable (€42.30). I'm already looking forward to next time.

I don't usually write negative reviews, but we waited an hour for our food. After several other guests who had arrived after us had already been served, I dared to ask. The order slip must have gotten lost...the food itself was greasy and oversalted (farmer's feast), and the grilled platter was very small for the price of €18. Some guests waited half an hour just for the menu. A single condition for both inside and outside can't be good. Poor organization! The one star is for the tasty dark beer.

Unfortunately, I can't recommend it. We had schnitzel with spaetzle there. The "schnitzel" wasn't breaded and tasted more like grilled pork steak. The spaetzle weren't warm and were unseasoned.

Great pub with some good food, but expect small portions. But the taste was great. I had rösti with a light beer. Thanks for the Franconian specialty food.

We had a good dinner here. The service was very friendly, and our ordered drinks were served quickly.

Unfortunately, I can't really recommend it. The portions were quite small. We had shoulder of pork and boiled beef yesterday (June 18th) and were nowhere near full. The boiled beef was thin slices hidden under a sticky sauce. The shoulder of pork was thinly sliced. We're used to it differently. The waitress who took the food and brought the beer was really nice. But then came the final blow. Another waitress came to pay - unfortunately!! It was €50.20. My husband said, "To €55," and held out a 100-euro note. I thought that was quite generous, but instead of a "THANK YOU," he actually said, "No, that's not possible, that's impossible, don't you have a smaller one... really, what do you think, outrageous... etc. We were truly shocked. We only had 100-euro notes left and no smaller ones, and honestly, considering the bill was over €50, we didn't think that was unusual. But the waitress kept yelling at us that she now had to give us ALL of her change. No, that's completely unacceptable. We've never experienced anything like that before. Hopefully, the nice waitress from the beginning also gets the tip.

Kaiserschmarrn without raisins although the menu says with raisins was served cold and totally soggy Schäufele meat was old sauerkraut was cold dumplings and sauce lukewarm not recommended

I'm sorry, but by far the worst restaurant visit ever. We ordered a homemade raspberry lemonade (=raspberry syrup and water) and a homemade elderberry lemonade, and we got still water. Even after complaining, we didn't get the elderberry lemonade...the waiter wanted to bring it. We wanted to eat Jägerschnitzel with mushroom cream sauce and spaetzle and schäuffele with fried potatoes instead of dumplings. Spaetzle from a packet, well, you can't go wrong with that, but they were cold...schnitzel was a wispy piece of meat that you could barely cut...the fried potatoes were also a bit too smeared...they were black... Aside from the fact that our entire table was covered in green flies...we were at least forgiven for the raspberry lemonade and water (which we never ordered) as an apology...

The restaurant's ambiance is very nice, right in the pedestrian zone. However, the prices are completely exorbitant for the quality of the food. I've never eaten such a tough roast pork, and the red cabbage also tasted strongly of cloves. The boiled beef was equally tough and inedible.

No, not really...if the pig had known how little love was given to it bathing in fat, it would have turned into a dog. The asparagus was also extremely poorly peeled...

We came as guests from Germany, Hungary, and the Netherlands and felt very comfortable! A cozy restaurant that we would happily recommend! Excellent service, and the food met our expectations for a local specialty. We'd be happy to return!

The food was extremely greasy and far too expensive for the amount. 4 ready-made Maultaschen for €14? We were there as a large group, came into a separate room that must not have seen any fresh air for days and the glasses smelled terrible. After everyone had picked out something to eat, the waitress then remembered that she had run out of asparagus at all. (Half the menu consisted of dishes with asparagus). Unfortunately, the tastiest thing was the side salad, but that's also the one you can't go wrong with. Overall not recommended, there are much better restaurants in Bayreuth

Went for a nightcap. Friendly staff, but needs some training. You should already know what a Fernet Branca is and whether it's on the menu if you work there. Unfortunately, a sweet wine spritzer wasn't served sweet and the iced coffee looked more like a milkshake and didn't taste like coffee. The waiter accepted the criticism and passed it on to the restaurant. Overall, things that can be changed. We didn't eat that evening, we were just there for a nightcap.

Service extremely unfriendly at the entrance as well as at the table... Apparently I didn't feel like working on Sundays... From 1 p.m. onwards there were no more dumplings, which apparently only became apparent after we ordered... not recommended, unfortunately... It's better to go 20 meters further to the cooking spoon

The only positive thing about our visit was the nice service, who went out of their way despite the circumstances and was super friendly. The food looked and tasted like it was from Bofrost or something similar. It was thawed and gratinated (turkey pan). The Jägerschnitzel was more of a schnitzel that wouldn't have fed even a small child. The spaetzle served with it was completely tasteless. Dried lamb's lettuce served as a "garnish". Shame about the money spent!

During our visit to the city center we ate here and it was very tasty. The service was super friendly and accommodating. The beer 🍺 was an experience. We would be happy to come back again at any time

I can't understand the 4.1 stars here. We haven't eaten so badly in a long time. My partner's food as if it had been warmed up. But the kicker was that, as a vegetarian, the waitress recommended a meal on the menu (Röstis) which was fried in duck fat. Unfortunately, I only noticed this while eating 🤢 I also find it difficult that there is no changing facility in this rather large inn and so I had to change our baby at our place... unfortunately I had no other choice. I think it's good that there is a small play area for children, but it is quite carelessly furnished. I find the open grill interesting.

The ambience of the brewery bar was cozy (okay)! The food was good (Franconian bratwurst), but carelessly prepared! The waiting time for "Schmalz mit Stulle" was half an hour, longer than average, so we decided not to eat it and paid!! What a shame!!

Very nice rustic brewery tavern right in the old town of Bayreuth. In addition to the very warm hospitality, there were also many delicious Schmeggerwöhlerchens and a good beer on tap.

The restaurant can definitely be recommended. The service staff were friendly and very quick. Price performance is perfectly fine. The grilled dishes are prepared on the open grill. The atmosphere is classic Franconian cozy, but nothing special. The entrance is not wheelchair accessible.

When I asked if I could breastfeed in a corner, I was even given a separate room... that's hospitality at the highest level! Next time we're in the area, we'd love to come back.

A beautiful inn, right on the market square, with a cozy guest room and a well-organized outdoor restaurant. The people in the service are polite and after a short wait served us a very well-made Kreefleisch, tender meat, tasty horseradish sauce, good dumpling, as well as a grilled plate according to the house style, many types of meat, not all of which were equally well done and there was something missing Wort. All in all, a good meal, in a really nice restaurant, at a reasonable price!

Apparently the employees don't understand you. Food and drink are delivered incorrectly or not at all. The staff is very friendly, but that can't consolation over the overall result. There is still room for improvement!

Die Brauereischänke befindet sich am Beginn der schönen sonnigen Bayreuther Fußgängerzone. Der Außenbereich ist mit großen Sonnenschirmen bestückt so kann man stets zwischen Schattenplatz, Sonnenplatz oder Halbschatten wählen. Das Lokal ist sehr hundefreundlich ( es wird sofort Wasser angeboten ) Besonders schön ist, dass man auch nur ein Bier o.ä. trinken kann und nicht wie sonst oft so üblich gleich zu weiteren Hauptgerichten gedrängt wird. Es sind auch schöne Kleinigkeiten auf der Karte. Ideal also zum gemütlichen Sitzen und dem Treiben in Bayreuths Innenstadt zu zusehen. Preise einwandfrei. Zu den Hauptgerichten können wir leider noch nichts berichten, aber das folgt nach dem nächsten Besuch. Servicepersonal jederzeit zuvorkommend und freundlich-entspannt.

We just went here for coffee... that took forever... but the service was super friendly!!!

It was 7:30 p.m., we tried to have dinner in several places but they were closing. We were lucky enough to find this authentic German family restaurant for home cooked food. The service was excellent, they made an effort to explain the dishes to us and make themselves understood in English. To highlight the apfelstrudel, spectacular!! Prices a little high compared to other places in the area.

We had the last asparagus of the year and Schäufele and really enjoyed it. The asparagus was nice and firm to the bite and the meat from the Schäufele was very tender, the large dumpling was super tasty. Plus, the beer really tasted good. There's nothing wrong with it

Inkompetenz wird hier groß geschrieben. Bei 8 Gerichten waren 6 Gerichte falsch, nach Reklamation kamen immerhin 4 Gerichte richtig. Gerichte waren dann trotz Auflistung in der Speisekarte nicht vorhanden. So wurde ein Hawaii Schnitzel ohne Ankündigung zum Jägerschnitzel. Der Lendenteller mit Salat, macht jeder Dönerbudenbetreiber besser. Fleisch entweder nicht durch oder Tot gebraten. Abrechnung stimmte überhaupt nicht. Am liebsten würd ich 0 Sterne geben!

Quaint little brewery inn with very nice service and a chef who can really cook. I can only recommend it to everyone. Especially the Schäufele and the crispy knuckle.

Long-established parlor directly on Maximilianstrasse. Very warm service, nice boss, delicious beer and great food. A great Schäufele for under 20 euros is almost something special these days!

A favorite place in summer The food is just average, the inside isn't really attractive either, but the beer garden in front of the restaurant with a view of the market and a good beer in cozy temperatures is very nice.

I'm a frequent guest here. The food is very good and so is the service. But yesterday I was very shocked when it came to paying... I didn't have enough cash with me and said I would pay with a card, which wasn't the first time I'd done that. The amount was 18.10 euros. The waitress said I would It's okay, but she would have to increase the tip to 20 euros, basically 1.90 😳 because her boss ordered that under twenty euros you couldn't pay with a card 😳 I was so speechless that I couldn't say anything more 🙊 Since I've already done so many times I found this very outrageous when I had to pay less than 20 euros, but at that moment I was simply speechless... I will pocket enough cash in the future or be less of a guest there. Dear boss of the brewery tavern, you should think about reading this post You would like to think about the fact that I can pay with a card at every bakery in the city, even if the amount is only 1-3 euros 💯I would like to decide for myself how much tip I want to give!!!!You can also scare away visitors!

Everything is fine, but Franconian food is always high in calories and should therefore not be on the menu too often.

Nice, rustic inn, you have space and sit well. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. Had Schäufle and Kaiserschmarn, which was super tasty and crispy, the Kaiserschmarn was not too greasy and not too sweet, which was really great for me. I can absolutely recommend it!!

Super leckeres, fränkisches Essen. Es gibt eine gute Auswahl. Wir haben unser Essen sehr schnell erhalten. Die Bedienungen sind bemüht, typisch fränkisch. Ich finde es innen sehr gemütlich. Die Einrichtung ist alt aber gepflegt, eben typisch Wirtshaus. Ich komme immer wieder gerne. Hunde sind erlaubt.

Essen ist Klasse, sehr lecker, bloß die Gaststätte ist bißchen Renovierungsbedürftig, sehr abgerockt. Service super. 👍👍👍

Was ausgesucht wurde war super lecker. Leckeres Bier vom Fass oder sogar selbstgemachte Limos waren möglich. Essen wurde trotz vollem Haus zeitnah gebracht. Preis: 5 von 5 Mehr als normal. Ich habe schon deutlich mehr zahlen müssen. Hier ist der Preis mehr als moderat. Ambiente: 5 von 5 Gemütliches Gasthaus mit Getränkeausschank und Essen. Hier kann man gut verweilen. Außenbereich, wie Innenbereich sauber (Tische, Boden, sonstiges). Innenbereich war warm und mit genügend Platz zwischen den Sitzplätzen. Keine Massenabfertigung mit Rücken an Rücken. Service: 5 von 5 Wir wurden herzlich empfangen und sofort bedient. Sehr freundliches Personal. Nicht aufdringlich aber sofort zur Stelle, wenn man etwas benötigte. Ein extra Essenswunsch für das Kleinkind wurde sofort berücksichtigt. Toll. Extras: 5 von 5 Wir waren mit Hund und Kind in der Gaststätte. Hund war auf Nachfrage auch im vollen Innenbereich kein Problem. Voraussetzungen: Stubenrein, keine Gäste werden belästigt. Für das Kind wurde ein Kinderstuhl organisiert. Auch ein Extrawunsch in Bezug auf das Essen war möglich.

Auch am späteren Abend gab es für uns noch warmes Essen. Das Personal war freundlich und sehr motiviert. Wir hatten drei verschiedene Speisen ,die alle sehr gut waren.

Nettes kleines Restaurant in der Innenstadt, gute fränkische Küche und sehr ordentliche Portionen.

Ein wirklich schönes uriges Lokal in der Innenstadt. Essen war sehr lecker, aber dennoch Portionen relativ klein. Eine Bedienung war sehr freundlich, bei der anderen war Freundlichkeit eher zu wünschen übrig, aber jeder kann ja mal einen schlechten Tag haben. Im großen und ganzen wieder zu empfehlen, Portionen sind ja für die Preise auch in Ordnung eig. vil hab ich ja auch nur einen großen Magen. Bier war lecker, Io 4 verschiedene Sorten vom Fass.

Biergarten in der innenstadtzone mit Flair. Nürnberger mit Kartoffelsalat, war leider nicht so der Brüller... dem hersteller des Kartoffelsalat ist irgendwie nichts eingefallen. Schmeckt wie aus dem Großmarkt. Leider. Dabei ist frischer fränkischer Kartoffelsalat ohne majo keine grosse Kunst und super in der Gastronomie unterzubringen. Restlichen essen (kartoffelpfanne etc) waren gut. Das Landbier, ein dunkles Bier, schmeckt sehr gut.

Immer wieder gerne, gibt's gutes Essen und Getränke und das Serviceteam ist auch gut drauf.
