We already know the Bär from the previous restaurant. It was always a must for us. Most of the photos are from previous restaurants. It was always delicious. Now we've been there again, and quite honestly, I don't need it anymore. It's a shame. The service was very friendly, but almost none of us liked the food. There were 14 of us. The cheese spaetzle and dumplings tasted like convenience foods. The red cabbage had barely any color, and the rest of the food had hardly any flavor. At the next table, a child wanted spaetzle with sauce without cheese. If the spaetzle had been homemade, it would certainly have been possible. But as it was, they only served them with cheese. It's a shame.

Excellent food and very friendly and attentive service. The food takes a while, but that's okay on vacation. The prices are perfectly reasonable. The beef cheeks cost €23.90 and are highly recommended.

Unfortunately, it was very disappointing! We had a long wait for the food, and unfortunately, the taste wasn't particularly good either. The schnitzel was very greasy, and the spaetzle, unfortunately, wasn't homemade. It's a shame we were looking forward to good, home-style food. Unfortunately, it was just average and not recommended! Paying was also a bit complicated, and we had to wait a long time, as only one waiter can take the payment. It was very inconvenient, especially for us with a baby.

We returned to the Bären after a long time. It's still the same quaint restaurant from 7 years ago. The menu offers Bavarian cuisine as well as seasonal dishes. The staff is very attentive and friendly. The food tastes very good, and everyone will be satisfied. The quality and quantity match the price. Our conclusion: the Bären is worth a visit.

We were there after a hike and sat in the garden restaurant. The service was very attentive, and the food was excellent. The sauce for the beef cheeks was divine! Compliments to the kitchen!

Service good but food too little

What a fiasco... The Bären was recommended to me as a long-established restaurant, albeit with a new owner. So we were in good spirits and received a very friendly welcome. We ordered a large and a small beer, and two large ones arrived. No problem, we can manage that! I ordered schnitzel with cheese spaetzle and an extra side salad. The main course arrived, but unfortunately the salad didn't. It arrived immediately...that is, after another 10 minutes. Even though there was only one other table in the dining room with us. The salad was brought with another apology and looked quite solid; I transferred it to my plate with my main course. After the second bite, I initially thought one of the lettuce leaves was woody and trained it onto the plate. After two more bites, the remaining chef's handkerchief—chef would be an exaggeration—unfolded into nice bite-sized pieces under the salad, and I had to pull myself together to keep the rest of the food down. The waiter apologized again and offered me a shot on the house. I politely declined and asked for the bill. He took the side salad and gravy off the bill... Pretty weak, after such a performance! Very short: In short... never again 🤮🤮

A very pleasant atmosphere and super customer-friendly! The prices are reasonable, the portions generous and delicious. What's especially great: The inn is child-friendly, and the cleaning robot was an absolute highlight for the little ones! We'd love to come back and highly recommend it.

I was here in the beer garden for the first time today. So the food… liver was ok. The potato puree was, well, edible, but the kick was completely missing. Unfortunately the fries weren't a hit either. Too bad. Goes better.

The service was extremely friendly and quick. Even a spontaneous visit was no problem (4 people). We each had the knuckle. The portion size was ideal, but the dumplings were a bit dry. The taste of the crust could have been a little better, but that's complaining on a high level. We were able to leave the stroller in a back room without any problem. Overall a nice stay after a long day of hiking

A hearty inn with friendly service and delicious food. In addition to Bavarian cuisine, there is also a seasonal selection, for example asparagus in different versions. You can taste the fresh preparation. Even children's meals are not “convenience”. I had asparagus with trout and boiled potatoes - really excellent. I found it exciting that the inside of the fish was also fried so that I could eat the lower bones.

No.. don't go there! I come to Nesselwang again and again, have been to this restaurant again and again and have been satisfied. On Tuesday, at lunchtime, I sit inside and, as always, order my beloved Allgäuer Kässpatzen. They tasted like crap. That was koan cheese." Ask the waiter: "Why such crappy cheese? .. I ordered the Swabian Zwieselrostbraten with cheese spaetzle. Unfortunately I was served a pork loin. When I asked the waiter, the plate was briefly taken into the kitchen and I was then told that it was not pork fillet but meat from a "young bull", that the meat was so light and that the visitor at the table behind me had the same thing. After the meal, the waitress justified himself by saying that the menu had changed and that he had already sold various roast beef today. In short, it tasted good, but it was pork and therefore not the dish I ordered. I believe that some guests (like the visitor behind me) are knowingly or unknowingly fobbed off with the wrong meat. To perhaps add something positive to the whole thing, the loin was well fried.

Good middle-class inn with consistently hot food. There is also a beer garden. In summer and the warmer months, the beer garden is a popular meeting place for young and old. You'll be happy if you were able to get a spot outside! The menu offers a number of Allgäu specialists. But there is also a lot on offer for vegetarians. Had dinner there in the evening, very nice service even though the restaurant was very full, we had reserved, pork knuckle, cordan blue were fantastic, dessert, hot love too. If we ever come back from the far north, we'll definitely come back.

We went there to eat spontaneously, which looked so good... it was just pure glutamate, maybe it was because of the time... 4.30 p.m.... The soup...water with Maggi really salted (but we didn't have to pay) the main course wasn't much better... Unfortunately we wouldn't recommend it...

First of all, we often ate at the Bären with the old tenant Unfortunately, today was the first and last time at the new one.....that was the worst thing I've ever eaten in a restaurant Seldom eaten so badly, bread dumplings were warmed up in the pan at least twice, fries were also warmed up again, schnitzel was dry and tasteless, turkey meat was borderline bad. Despite negative feedback to the waiter, there was no reaction, he certainly doesn't know any different...

We were in the restaurant with a family of six people. We had previously made reservations by phone. When we arrived we were seated in a larger room on a corner seat by the fireplace. Unfortunately it was very narrow here and we couldn't sit well. The waiter was new and unfortunately didn't have much knowledge when we asked about dishes on the menu. I ordered Kässpätzle. Which turned out to be a big mistake. Hidden beneath the pile of ready-made fried onions are spaetzle with traces of cheese. The carelessly prepared salad had almost no sauce. No advertising for the Allgäu.

Deep-fried bone-dry knuckle with dumplings floating in tasteless sauce. I've never had such a bad knuckle. Due to the deep frying, the meat was sometimes dry and tough. Unfortunately it was a mistake to eat here. The entire restaurant seemed very run down and could use a larger cleaning cloth.

I chose Szeged goulash from the menu of highlighted Hungarian specialties. So... I was served a very large portion of sauerkraut (very tasty!) with a few chunks of pork. It was far from a “goulash”. Even though the herb tasted good, I found it boring to simply eat a large portion of it. And the price wasn't justified either. My children had baked schnitzels. They were okay - but just okay. For the price you can eat much better in Nesselwang! The service was very attentive and friendly. The ambience is a little boring, but good rustic Bavarian.

The seats on the terrace are right at the Aldi entrance and are therefore loud and a bit smelly. The roast pork was OK, a bit mixed and unfortunately there was a clove of garlic hidden underneath.

I can now only rate the beer garden in terms of the ambience, it is a bit uncomfortable near the main street and is therefore not very inviting. The service was good, the onion roast was a nice thick piece, to the point and tasted good. The Kässpätzle is great.

A very old, rustic building. Newly spruced up on the outside. Old, robust and comfortable on the inside! The staff is very accommodating, approachable and friendly. The food was very tasty. Ham schnitzel with cheese gratin and homemade spaetzle. Well seasoned! A very nicely prepared side salad and delicious! The only point of criticism: too little meat on a normal portion for my taste! Prices are, for today's times, within the scope of what is possible.

For the small side salad (four wafer-thin slices of cucumber, a teaspoon of carrots, an eighth of a tomato, half a small lettuce leaf and a bit of dressing for € 4.90) and the brat strudel soup (two pieces in the soup for € 6.90) I would pay the price -/ Rethink performance ratio. In both cases the price is far too high for what the guest gets. You can do better. The main courses were barely three stars. We can give 5+ stars for the staff.

First of all, I have been coming to Nesselwang for 20 years. You can actually eat well anywhere at a reasonable price. For many years the Bär was our favorite in terms of the quality of the food and the selection. Apparently the owner has changed, the card has shrunk and the quality has dropped extremely. Homemade spaetzle, all well and good, but they have to taste like something. There was either a lack of salt in the dough or they were not bathed in salt water. The gravy doesn't go with it at all. First of all, a gravy doesn't go well with a schnitzel that has mushrooms in it. This includes a rather light cream sauce. What I expect in a restaurant is proper home-made gravy and not out of a bag! Then it's no use flooding your plate with bad sauce. Schnitzel was okay but quite dry and hard because it wasn't breaded. I could also closely observe how the other guests were dissatisfied with their food. A woman took two bites of a schnitzel with mushroom cream sauce and let it go back. Why? Conclusion, I cannot recommend eating anything here other than just drinking something and I will no longer be a guest in this restaurant. PS if you read the other reviews, or if I had done that before, I wouldn't have come here at all. In addition, the price-performance ratio here is no longer good at all - simple, poor quality dishes at high prices. When the waitress asked her that she was pretty bad, she just accepted it.

Something went wrong with our order...it can happen. We had to wait longer for the food, which was also noticed by the serving staff. Without having to ask, the operating staff independently recognized the error, apologized and solved it as quickly as possible. Furthermore, to our surprise, the salads and drinks were not charged due to the waiting time.

We stopped here in the early afternoon because the Gasthof zur Post only had a "mini" meal menu between 12 and 6 p.m. The service was friendly, the beer was good, but you shouldn't eat here. The roast pork was hard, the potato dumpling was even worse, the Obazda cordon bleu was heavily fried. The portion size was ok. Two 0.5l beers for €47.80. Rarely have we eaten so badly in Bavaria.

The Cordon Bleu was dry and didn't taste any of the Obatzter. The chicken rolls were delicious...but the bulgur risotto mush...yum.

The schnitzel was unbreaded with ready-made sauce, the only things that were good were the spaetzle and the bread dumplings. Fresh Bavarian cuisine looks different.

Knuckle & roast pork was ordered (2 people ate). The two dishes were lukewarm. The dumplings (one dumpling per dish) were tasteless or had a hard edge and tasted rather cold and strange. The sauces didn't taste like they usually do in Bavaria and the quantity of food was little to average. Unfortunately the roast pork tasted bland - a shame. Little meat when minced, but the taste was okay. We each tried each other’s dishes. Both waiters were great and courteous, even polite towards children.👍👍👍 The food was brought out quickly, but I don't judge whether this is a bad or good sign. Ambience average.

Quite simply but functionally furnished. There are the obligatory schnitzels in various variations, knuckles and delicious Hungarian cuisine. (The pork goulash is highly recommended) You can sit outside in a beer garden and enjoy a beer after work, for example.
