Netter Gasthof Bier schmeckt So. Nicht gessen

Wir waren im Gasthof Bären in Nesselwang und rundum zufrieden. Das Essen war geschmacklich hervorragend und die Portionsgrößen genau richtig – man wird satt, ohne dass unnötig viel auf dem Teller landet. Die Preise sind absolut fair und für die gebotene Qualität mehr als angemessen. Besonders positiv aufgefallen ist uns, dass wir nicht lange auf unser Essen warten mussten. Das Personal war zudem sehr freundlich, aufmerksam und zuvorkommend. Wer in Nesselwang gut essen gehen möchte, dem können wir den Gasthof Bären uneingeschränkt empfehlen. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Das Essen war hervorragend, die Preise angemessen und die Portionen großzügig. Auch die Bedienung war sehr freundlich. Vegetarische Gerichte und Kindermenüs sind ebenfalls erhältlich.

Wir waren zu zweit am Samstag zum Essen und waren sehr zufrieden. Kässpätzle mit Salat sehr lecker genauso wie das Schnitzel mit Spargel und Kartoffel. Service sehr aufmerksam, Preis-Leistung völlig in Ordnung.

Also heute auf der Durchreise soooo lecker gegessen? Meine Frau Rinderbäckchen mit Semmel Klöße, Rostzwiebeln und eine Karotten-Selleriesoße zum reinknieen.👍😋 Und ich ein Schnitzel Borzas Art mit Kartoffelkruste und Rizzi-Bizzireis mit Erbschen... mal was ganz anderes aber auch richtig 😋 Essen stand nach 15 min auf dem Tisch und der Service ist auch 1a und superfreundlich, auch wenn der nette Kellner unsere Suppe zu 2.vergessen hat. 😂 Danach waren wir froh, weil die Portionen echt üppig waren. 😮‍💨👍 Wir würden jederzeit wieder hier einkehren. Herzlichen Dank.

Schon als Kind war ich sehr oft mit meinen Eltern hier und ich war damals immer von den Kässpazn begeistert. Nun bin ich selbst mit meiner Familie und meinen Kindern regelmäßig zu Gast, wenn wir im Allgäu sind. Es ist als wäre die Zeit stehen geblieben - immer wieder tolle Kindheitserinnerungen. Ein super uriges Gasthaus mit leckerem Essen und leckerem Bier! Sehr zu empfehlen!

Wir waren spontan zum Essen dort. Das Personal sehr freundlich, aufmerksam und schnell. Die Schweinshaxe war sehr köstlich, Temperatur des Essens, gut warm. Die Kässpätzle hatten definitiv viel wärmer sein dürfen. Man hätte mir dies nochmals aufgewärmt, wollte ich aber nicht, weil ich mit meinem Mann zusammen essen wollte.

Wir kennen den Bären schon vom Vorgänger. Es war immer ein muss für uns. Die Fotos sind zum größten Teil von den Vorgängern. Es war immer sehr lecker. Jetzt waren wir wieder dort und ganz ehrlich, ich brauche es nicht mehr. Schade. Bedienung sehr nett aber das Essen hat fast keinem von uns geschmeckt. Wir waren 14 Personen. Die Kässpätzle und Knödel schmeckten nach Fertigprodukten .Das Rotkraut hatte kaum Farbe und im restlichen Essen war kaum Geschmack. Am Nebentisch wollte ein Kind Spätzle mit Soße ohne Käse. Wenn die Spätzle selber gemacht worden wären, wer es bestimmt möglich gewesen. Aber so gab es sie nur mit Käse. Schade.

Eine Gadthof wie es man sich im Allgäu vorstellt.

Der Bären ist eine alter Dorfwirtschaft mit sehr dunklem Holz und altem Kachelofen in der Gaststube. Dadurch entsteht ein besonderes Ambiente. Obwohl auch im Saal offenbar richtig vielbzu tun war, war der Service auf zack und aufmerksam und wirklich sehr freundlich. Die Speiekarte ist nicht so groß aber das empfinden wir nicht als unangenehm. Alle fanden etwas nach deren Geschmack. Wir waren 5 Personen und alle zufrieden mit dem gewählten. Gerne wieder mal.

Wir hatten ein ganz besonderes Essen, typisch bayerische Küche. Ich hatte Schweinshaxe, und obwohl man erst ein bisschen üben muss, wie man sie isst, ist das Fleisch wirklich lecker. Das Bier wird sogar in einem Literkrug serviert; das sieht man in den Niederlanden nicht, und es ist wirklich toll!

Wir fanden das Ambiente kahl.Den Service Spitze.Die Rindsrouladen wie bei Oma, nicht der Renner.Wenig dünnes Fleisch viel Zwiebeln als Füllung.Kam mir vor wie von Bofrost.Hat auch so geschmeckt.Ein Klecks Rotkraut war auch drauf. Beim Fisch war sichtlich, das er aus der Microwelle kommt. Man konnte es essen, jedoch empfehlen nicht.Wenn meine Oma, solche Rindsrouladen machen würde die nach Fertigbratensosse von Maggi schmeckt, wäre ich nie wieder zu Oma gegangen.Portionsgröße ist eher ein Rentnerteller. Wir sind danach noch einen Döner essen gegangen. Danach satt.

Das Cordon Bleue und die Knödel haben leider weder frisch, noch selbstgemacht geschmeckt. Die Schweinshaxe war in Ordnung. Wir hatten uns auf jeden Fall mehr erhofft. Unsere Bedienung war allerdings sehr freundlich.

Das Essen war zwar lecker, aber leider zu wenig so dass ich nicht satt geworden bin. Der Preis war definitiv nicht gerechtfertigt. Also wenn man hungrig aus einem Restaurant rausgeht, läuft irgendwas verkehrt. Ich habe mir jetzt was vom Bäcker geholt und hoffe, dass ich noch satt werde. :-(

Durchschnittlich. Die Bedienung war ganz nett, ließ aber am Anfang lange auf sich warten. Das Essen, Hirschgulasch, nichts Besonderes, Soße etwas merkwürdig, fast wie geronnen. Pommes zu lange frittiert, Schnitzel Cordon Bleu scheint nicht selbstgemacht. Uriges Lokal, recht dunkel.

A beautiful and venerable building. You immediately feel transported back in time. Simply wonderful. The service was very friendly and attentive. There are coloring activities and food for the kids. The beer is delicious. We had the snack, which was very good. We'd love to come back.

The beef roulade with cheese spaetzle, instead of regular spaetzle, was delicious. My husband had the onion roast beef – also excellent, although the portion of meat could have been a touch larger. We were there at the beginning of December and it was very quiet. This meant we had the waiter's full attention. The tiled stove was lit and it was comfortably warm.

Prices too high, little food on the plate

We came here after swimming. The Käsespätzle (cheese spaetzle) are delicious, and the homemade elderflower lemonade is highly recommended. We were there around 3:30 pm on a weekday, outside of peak season. We basically had our pick of tables. The waiter was very friendly.

A lovely, rustic inn with a great atmosphere and delicious food. We had venison goulash and cordon bleu. Highly recommended! 😊 It's a shame they no longer brew their own beer, despite the name.

A friendly welcome, a quaint, cozy restaurant. The drinks and food were served quickly. The food arrived quickly and hot. The portions were large and flavorful. The value for money was very good. Only the side salad was disappointing in terms of taste and presentation. It was very small and almost impossible to remove from the bowl. Nevertheless, I would gladly return, as the young man's service was remarkable.

The food was very good; we had the roast beef with onions, which I highly recommend. The ambiance was rustic yet pleasant, and the service was good.

Despite several other free tables, the server assigned us a seat right next to the entrance to the restrooms. If we hadn't been so hungry, we would have left the restaurant. The considerable cold draft every time the door opened added to the unpleasant feeling of the seat.

We had made a reservation just in case, based on the reviews. We were not disappointed; the ambiance, the food, and the service were all perfect! Thanks to Tesm for the lovely evening.

Cozy, rustic restaurant with good food and friendly service

The lunch menu definitely has room for improvement. The beef cheeks were okay, but the accompanying sauce was mushy and flavorless. The dumplings were rubbery. The sausages were dry, and the sauerkraut was okay. The wait times are rather long.

We've been coming here for years. They don't take things too seriously. But the menu has gotten smaller these days. The quality has declined over the years. And today, with the rain gathering and 18 degrees Celsius, at 6:00 PM, we weren't even allowed inside. Instead, we were offered a table outside because the inside isn't open. Maybe 7:00 PM, I was told, even though I called 60 minutes earlier to inquire and try to reserve a table.

We ate there twice during our vacation. The service was very friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious, all freshly prepared. We highly recommend the restaurant!

We waited forever for a drink because our order was lost. The salad was forgotten for one dish and never refilled. The cheese spaetzle was very dry.

I've never eaten a worse knuckle of pork. Very fatty, dry, and tough meat. The dumpling was dry and looked like it was yesterday's. The sauce was mush. So, stay away. Maybe it was the 2:1 coupon book that caused me to get such a bad knuckle. So, it's better to go to the post office, where the knuckle was great.

The food was lukewarm (cheese spaetzle, spinach dumplings). The potato dumplings were hard—not freshly cooked, just reheated—and had an unappealing gray color. Drinks were overpriced (beer €5.20).

We went here because of the good reviews. We've never eaten so badly. Our daughter had a Kaiserschmarrn that was inedible: hard, gritty, with a strong vanilla flavor. Cheese spaetzle from a packet had freezer burn. The pork knuckle with dumplings was harder than the crust, but the meat was just as dry. The schnitzel was bone dry, but the fries were edible. I have no idea if the owner has changed or the chef died. I absolutely wouldn't recommend it. The price is grossly inflated for food that's better in any cafeteria.

The menu is small, but there's something for everyone. The food arrived quickly. The portions were large enough to satisfy the average person. The service was also good, friendly, and attentive. All in all, I recommend this restaurant. The price/performance ratio is also completely acceptable. An added bonus is that it's also open on Mondays.

The schnitzel was okay, but the knuckle of pork and the dumplings were truly delicious and highly recommended. The salad and sauerkraut could have used a bit more seasoning, and the fries were a bit too salty and overcooked for my personal taste. It was a real shame that the roasted onions were already sold out – we definitely want to try that on our next visit! We'd like to highlight the service: very friendly, attentive, and thoroughly enjoyable. That's exactly what makes the difference and ensures we'll be happy to return.

Comfortable and surprisingly good. The price/performance ratio is definitely good.

We had liver, which was very tasty, and we had knuckle of pork, which was just average, nothing special (as some people here have said). The rind wasn't particularly crispy and wasn't particularly flavorful. With the knuckle of pork, you get a choice of two potato dumplings or two bread dumplings. I chose one of each... Charging €2 for a change of side dish is a real cheek!! Okay... I deducted it from my tip. Bottom line... There are better restaurants in the area.

Gourmet salad for €15.90 - a mountain of iceberg lettuce with a few pieces of meat and no dressing. Cheese spaetzle - good, but very little. Service was quite pleasant.

If you appreciate hearty food, this is the place for you! The surprise platter for two is fantastic! The hazelnut liqueur is excellent! You should try it!

In my opinion, the dishes were an experiment on the part of the chef. The schnitzel in a potato crust tasted of fish, and the sauce served with the veal cheeks was unsuitable.

We were here over two years ago, and it wasn't that good. Now there's a new owner, and we were absolutely thrilled. Delicious food, great service. The Kaiserschmarren (smothered pancakes) was absolutely delicious. Keep it up 👍

We can't rate the food because we arrived late and the kitchen was already closed. We noticed the extremely friendly staff, and we were welcome to enjoy a nice beer in the beer garden.

Portions could be a little larger

A quaint inn in the center of Nesselwang. The food selection was straightforward (home-style), the quality was good, and the portion sizes were adequate. The salad was unimaginative, with very little dressing. What bothers me personally, though, is that when I go to a brewery, I expect fresh, home-brewed draft beer. Unfortunately, there was none of that here...

Excellent food and very friendly and attentive service. The food takes a while, but that's okay on vacation. The prices are perfectly reasonable. The beef cheeks cost €23.90 and are highly recommended.

Unfortunately, it was very disappointing! We had a long wait for the food, and unfortunately, the taste wasn't particularly good either. The schnitzel was very greasy, and the spaetzle, unfortunately, wasn't homemade. It's a shame we were looking forward to good, home-style food. Unfortunately, it was just average and not recommended! Paying was also a bit complicated, and we had to wait a long time, as only one waiter can take the payment. It was very inconvenient, especially for us with a baby.

We returned to the Bären after a long time. It's still the same quaint restaurant from 7 years ago. The menu offers Bavarian cuisine as well as seasonal dishes. The staff is very attentive and friendly. The food tastes very good, and everyone will be satisfied. The quality and quantity match the price. Our conclusion: the Bären is worth a visit.

We were there after a hike and sat in the garden restaurant. The service was very attentive, and the food was excellent. The sauce for the beef cheeks was divine! Compliments to the kitchen!

Service good but food too little

What a fiasco... The Bären was recommended to me as a long-established restaurant, albeit with a new owner. So we were in good spirits and received a very friendly welcome. We ordered a large and a small beer, and two large ones arrived. No problem, we can manage that! I ordered schnitzel with cheese spaetzle and an extra side salad. The main course arrived, but unfortunately the salad didn't. It arrived immediately...that is, after another 10 minutes. Even though there was only one other table in the dining room with us. The salad was brought with another apology and looked quite solid; I transferred it to my plate with my main course. After the second bite, I initially thought one of the lettuce leaves was woody and trained it onto the plate. After two more bites, the remaining chef's handkerchief—chef would be an exaggeration—unfolded into nice bite-sized pieces under the salad, and I had to pull myself together to keep the rest of the food down. The waiter apologized again and offered me a shot on the house. I politely declined and asked for the bill. He took the side salad and gravy off the bill... Pretty weak, after such a performance! Very short: In short... never again 🤮🤮

A very pleasant atmosphere and super customer-friendly! The prices are reasonable, the portions generous and delicious. What's especially great: The inn is child-friendly, and the cleaning robot was an absolute highlight for the little ones! We'd love to come back and highly recommend it.

I was here in the beer garden for the first time today. So the food… liver was ok. The potato puree was, well, edible, but the kick was completely missing. Unfortunately the fries weren't a hit either. Too bad. Goes better.

The service was extremely friendly and quick. Even a spontaneous visit was no problem (4 people). We each had the knuckle. The portion size was ideal, but the dumplings were a bit dry. The taste of the crust could have been a little better, but that's complaining on a high level. We were able to leave the stroller in a back room without any problem. A hearty inn with friendly service and delicious food. In addition to Bavarian cuisine, there is also a seasonal selection, for example asparagus in different versions. You can taste the fresh preparation. Even children's meals are not “convenience”. I had asparagus with trout and boiled potatoes - really excellent. I found it exciting that the inside of the fish was also fried so that I could eat the lower bones.

No.. don't go there! I come to Nesselwang again and again, have been to this restaurant again and again and have been satisfied. On Tuesday, at lunchtime, I sit inside and, as always, order my beloved Allgäuer Kässpatzen. They tasted like crap. That was koan cheese." Ask the waiter: "Why such crappy cheese? .. Even in the Allgäu?" The one with an accent: "We get the cheese mixture delivered ready" That's it in the Allgäu. Jessaß :( :( . ..

I ordered the Swabian Zwieselrostbraten with cheese spaetzle. Unfortunately I was served a pork loin. When I asked the waiter, the plate was briefly taken into the kitchen and I was then told that it was not pork fillet but meat from a "young bull", that the meat was so light and that the visitor at the table behind me had the same thing. After the meal, the waitress justified himself by saying that the menu had changed and that he had already sold various roast beef today. In short, it tasted good, but it was pork and therefore not the dish I ordered. I believe that some guests (like the visitor behind me) are knowingly or unknowingly fobbed off with the wrong meat. To perhaps add something positive to the whole thing, the loin was well fried.

Good middle-class inn with consistently hot food. There is also a beer garden. In summer and the warmer months, the beer garden is a popular meeting place for young and old. You'll be happy if you were able to get a spot outside! The menu offers a number of Allgäu specialists. But there is also a lot on offer for vegetarians. Had dinner there in the evening, very nice service even though the restaurant was very full, we had reserved, pork knuckle, cordan blue were fantastic, dessert, hot love too. If we ever come back from the far north, we'll definitely come back.

Newly warmed up food and cold and dark inside, fish was warmed up 2 or 3 times on the outside as you can see.

First of all, we often ate at the Bären with the old tenant Unfortunately, today was the first and last time at the new one.....that was the worst thing I've ever eaten in a restaurant Seldom eaten so badly, bread dumplings were warmed up in the pan at least twice, fries were also warmed up again, schnitzel was dry and tasteless, turkey meat was borderline bad. Despite negative feedback to the waiter, there was no reaction, he certainly doesn't know any different...

Were in Nesselwang with the motorhome and had dinner here. The food was very tasty. However, the portion of the roulade with just one dumpling is very, very small, which is a shame for the price because it tasted very good, but just a little!

Rustic restaurant, lots of dark wood and a tiled stove. Meat-heavy menu, I really enjoyed it! Bären beer is great! Very friendly service, prices ok.

Service was absolutely great... Fast, competent and friendly... It was strange, however, that the order was still recorded on paper... We'll definitely be back. Price performance is also perfect. Decent portions for a reasonable price. Thanks and keep it up
