Brasserie Ignaz in Konstanz

A very nice resto/bitro right across the train station Konstanz. Went back there multiple times during our visit in Konstanz. Everything was great. The staff are friendly. Will be back!!

The price-performance ratio of the Sunday brunch was reasonably good. There was a wide variety of items, a little bit of everything, which I thought was great. Sweets, pastries, ricotta, mousse, fruit, also ham, scrambled eggs, cheese. Orange juice, sausages, potatoes, etc. I found the quality to be so-so; the salmon wasn't good, neither was the coffee, the orange juice was rather sour, and the ricotta was just okay. The Prosecco was fine. I thought the selection was great. It was also nicely presented. The restaurant was beautifully decorated, just a bit cramped at the buffet. The restroom was so-so; I would expect it to be cleaned/checked occasionally (since it's busy on Sundays). The faucet/shelf was completely covered in splashes and looked unappetizingly dirty. One bar of soap was empty. What bothered me was that the table was dirty when we arrived. He cleaned it, but not completely. The other woman cleaned it again, but it was still dirty afterward. The bench was also dirty. It was simply a bit unhygienic. I also found it odd that they emailed to confirm we were coming, so I would have expected a clean and ready table/seating area. The table was very wobbly, so I had to order some cardboard, which he didn't fix himself; I had to do that too. While it's not a super luxurious restaurant, I still think the staff should take care of that. Otherwise, the staff was very friendly. All in all, it was okay, but not something I would say is a must-visit.

Our lunch was very good. Pasta with pulled pork and peas, and cordon bleu with fries. We felt very welcome; the staff was friendly. The non-alcoholic beer was delicious.

After walking past it many times, we finally managed to eat at Brasserie Ignaz. It's located directly opposite the train station in Konstanz. Upon entering, you find yourself in the bar area, where you can sip a cocktail either at bar stools or on a long banquette. Shortly after, we were shown to our table. (I think reservations are highly recommended.) Some of the seats are arranged so that you and your companions are in a cozy alcove, seated on comfortable U-shaped benches. After starting with cocktails, the appetizers and main courses arrived quite promptly. The portions are perfectly adequate, and the enormous Wiener Schnitzel definitely requires a very hearty appetite. The brasserie was completely full, and the service seemed a bit overwhelmed. Despite the hustle and bustle, the staff remained friendly and attentive throughout. In addition to the dinner menu, Ignaz also offers breakfast with various options. Tuesday evenings are burger nights, and on Sundays, you can enjoy brunch between 10:00 and 13:00. We'll definitely be back.

First, you're treated like an alien, the table is dirty and sticky, the server walks right past you, and it took 20 minutes before we could order. The soup was warm but a bit sour and too spicy, the toilets were mostly clean, but not under the tables – please work on this.

There are different dishes available for lunch every week, all very delicious! The menu is always up-to-date and available on the website. A small starter salad with a delicious dressing or a soup of the day can be added for €3.50 each. The staff is very attentive and friendly. We will definitely be back for lunch soon; we enjoyed it very much.

Hello! How can one review a restaurant like this??????? The food is excellent, truly delicious (I had grilled salmon with fried potatoes) on the first evening. The next day, the Hotel Halm next door recommended another visit! I followed their recommendation. I'll keep it short! Upon entering, I realized I wasn't welcome here!!! I've been in the restaurant business for over 40 years!!! I've never experienced anything like this before!! Times change, OK! No, that wasn't right for the guest (me). Final word: "I CAN'T WRITE THIS!!"

Excellent lunch menu and value for money!

The food was okay. The service, however, was a disaster and very slow. They also didn't seem very motivated.

We dined there and enjoyed a meal for two! We have to say it was incredible! The food was unique and, above all, not your average fare – everything was spot on and perfect! Incredible variations! Tonka bean in the risotto (we were initially skeptical), but incredibly unusual and delicious variations that you won't find anywhere else! Amazing!!! Very friendly, attentive, and, most importantly, fun service! We want to thank the whole team for the evening! We'll tell our friends that with Ignaz, we've finally found a restaurant that dares to put something unusual on the menu and doesn't just offer run-of-the-mill standard fare.

The music was extremely loud, and despite repeated polite requests, the music wasn't turned down. It was very inviting for guests who wanted to chat...not recommended.

Located right next to the train station, it features a large terrace ideal for warmer days, a very cozy brasserie atmosphere inside, friendly service, reasonable prices, and excellent original Wienerschnitzel.

Recommended by the Zaubermomente bridal shop...very friendly service, special orders were accommodated and sometimes even served as is (only one detail was overlooked in one special order). The food was very good, the schnitzel looked quite large, but it was pounded thin, so we ate it all 😊 The "Moules et Frites" were amazing, a bit spicy, fresh vegetables, and crispy fries. I'd be happy to go again 👍

My husband and I went to this restaurant for dinner, and it was almost a success. The place is very nice and elegant, but the bathroom leaves much to be desired. The food is good, the dishes are delicious and beautifully presented. However, the staff is completely disinterested in their work and the guests. Clearing the tables takes a very long time, plates wait to be cleared after the meal, and the staff hide in the kitchen or behind the counter, or chat among themselves. Of the current staff, only one woman worked there. And unfortunately, the worst espresso I've ever had. The restaurant has enormous potential.

We found the tables for two a bit impractical—they are far too small for two people and limit comfort. With a few minor adjustments, the experience could be even more pleasant.

Unfortunately, we can't rate the food and drinks, as we still hadn't received our menus after more than 15 minutes. The two couples who arrived after us had already received their drinks and ordered their food by that time.

Everything was great. 👍👍👍👍 We spontaneously decided to have dinner there. The restaurant was completely full, but it was raining heavily outside, so we had to wait inside until the storm passed. They finally found a small table at the bar, and we gratefully accepted. The service was super friendly, and before the food arrived, despite the restaurant being fully booked, they found a proper table for us so we could eat more comfortably. That was great, and to me, that's truly hospitable when you proactively take care of your guests like that. The food was also delicious. The Wiener Schnitzel was truly outstanding. Unfortunately, disappointed! We went there on July 29, 2025 to eat steaks and paid over €200 for three dishes, one tarte flambée, and four drinks. We had two flank steaks and one beef fillet. We ordered the flank steaks medium-rare and the fillet medium. What can I say? All three steaks were rare! Only seared briefly on the outside, but completely raw on the inside! My son's steak was so rare that I took it back to the kitchen so they could cook it through! An absolute no-go! The sauces we ordered with it were all pre-made sauces, which is ridiculous for that price. Now for the not-so-bad part: the sweet potato fries were OK, although they were also frozen, but OK. The tarte flambée was also OK, but at €22, it was way too expensive! Considering the cost of the food wasn't even €2! For drinks we had the supposedly homemade lemonade. I have to say, we make our own lemonade and when something like that is offered in a restaurant we always order it. We ordered the passion fruit mango lemonade and were disappointed again! Far too sweet, you can hardly taste the mango at all! It was drinkable but for me it was one of the worst lemonades I have ever ordered in a restaurant. The only positive thing was the service, who were very stressed but still tried to be friendly. The atmosphere was OK, although a bit loud with the other guests, but that's not the restaurant's fault. All in all, a disappointment; we had hoped for much more!

Located right in front of Konstanz train station, this brasserie offers a wide selection for meat-eaters and vegetarians alike. The large schnitzel is worth the detour (cheers to anyone who manages to eat the whole thing 😁😁😁). The setting is relatively pleasant and quiet. A nice outdoor terrace on a pedestrian street.

Die Lage direkt am Bahnhof ist unschlagbar, die Öffnungszeiten auch - und das zauberhafte Profipersonal serviert Bier in Kombination mit Eierlikör, ohne eine*n dafür schräg anzuschauen. Prosit!

Very nice restaurant with a lovely outdoor area. Smoking is permitted. The service was very friendly, and I have no complaints. The drinks and food came quickly and were very tasty. The truffle mayo is highly recommended. We had the pork belly with grilled vegetables and the steak frites.

Potato salad tastes like it's straight out of a bucket instead of fresh and homemade like the one on the menu. The waitress asks how it tasted, and if it doesn't, she becomes mushy instead of dealing with the situation in a confident and friendly manner. I won't go there anymore!

I've been coming to Ignaz for years. A lot has changed but it's still great there. We love eating the schnitzel and are always satisfied. The staff is always very friendly! A little idea, maybe toys or painting supplies for children if you don't have your own with you :-)

Service was very nice and attentive, the food was very good and the ambience is also good. We would definitely come again.

Ordered a beef tartare and asked if it was cut by hand. The service confirmed and added that all the ingredients were served separately on the plate. What we got was an indefinable mass of meat mixed with a kind of extremely sweet barbecue sauce. It's a shame because we expect the 200 g of meat offered from a good restaurant and not the extremely stretched version that was served on the plate.

It was one of the best tarte flambées I've ever eaten! The service was attentive. The restroom was clean, as was the entire restaurant. Highly recommended for a break, lunch, or meeting.

Today was the first time I ate there with my wife and young son – and definitely the last time. I've lived in Konstanz for 20 years, but I've never eaten so badly or been treated so disrespectfully. Half of the ribs were pure fat. The "grilled vegetables" were so charred that there was no visual difference between the zucchini and the peppers. A complete disaster. The man at the reception (apparently the manager or boss) took it to the extreme: When paying, he arrogantly explained that the chef couldn't see the fat – he didn't say a single word about the charred vegetables. What was particularly unpleasant was that he deliberately stared at the PIN code and grinned maliciously when I pointed it out to him. Absolutely unprofessional behavior coupled with a culinary disaster. It's a shame I have to give it at least one star to post it; I wouldn't have given it any at all.

NOT suitable for people with celiac disease!!! At least not with children. Limited selection of gluten-free foods, especially side dishes. It was my son's birthday and I was told on the phone that the fries and the FAT were gluten-free. I always ask about the fat too. Gluten-free would not be a problem at all. But it was different: the fries are dusted with flour (we were told this🤷‍♀️🙈, which I cannot understand at all). And it was then very difficult to get a side dish. And food on the menu runs out at 11:30😁🤷‍♀️, so you have to say so before you choose or cross it out if the waitress says you haven't been cooking it for a week! It's already difficult to go out to eat when you have to eat gluten-free!!!! Anyone who has to deal with it knows what I'm talking about. The food was super super delicious! That's why it's such a shame!! Because when a restaurant tries to offer people with celiac disease the opportunity to have breakfast or a meal there, I was hoping for a bit more. Someone has already thought about it, which many people don't! So we thought it wouldn't be a problem here. However, I can only advise against it if you have to eat gluten-free. What also bothered us was the reaction of the waiter and waitress. Yes, it's not their fault, but there's no need to react offended and annoyed. We felt really stupid; we were avoided; it wasn't a nice gesture that things went wrong. We're all human, we all make mistakes, and an apology is enough. We felt like vegetarians complaining 😁🙈. We don't do it for fun or to follow a trend, but because we have to for our health! As I said, the food is really delicious, so it's a shame for only 2 stars, but I think reviews are important if you HAVE to eat gluten-free! I'm writing this review so that other people with celiac disease don't have the same experience as us. Not to badmouth the restaurant! If I didn't have any restrictions, or rather, my husband and son did, I would happily eat here...

French-inspired brasserie. Breakfast on the menu but unfortunately how often, ONLY UNTIL 11:00, WHY?????? will the food then be gone? Ordered 2 coffees and 2 croissants with a little mini butter = 16 EUR. Awesome. Extremely expensive. St. Moritz is cheaper. 1 waitress totally arrogant, immediately came with accusations and explanations. Laborious.

Place is really nice, food was tasty. I ordered flammkuchen and there was a hair inside... seems cooks dont work clean and carefull enough. Waitress offered a free espresso, but I didnt take. It is a joke for a such accident.

Overall, my visit to this restaurant was pleasant, especially thanks to the excellent service. The staff was extremely friendly, attentive and professional. You were greeted immediately, orders were taken quickly, and special requests were also fulfilled without any problems. The service was definitely a highlight of the visit. About the food: I ordered a club sandwich, which tasted okay but didn't really blow me away. The ingredients were fresh, but I felt it was missing that certain something that makes it special. The fries, on the other hand, were really good – crispy, hot and seasoned just right. The Caesar salad was also okay, but nothing exceptional. As far as the prices are concerned, I found them to be a bit high. At 15 to 16 euros for the club sandwich, the price of the restaurant is above average, which is certainly a matter of taste. For me personally, the price-performance ratio wasn't quite right, as the food was solid but not outstanding. Conclusion: Anyone who attaches great importance to excellent service and is willing to pay a little more for solid quality will certainly be satisfied here. I would give the restaurant a second chance, perhaps with a different menu selection.

Yesterday we spontaneously went to the Brasserie Ignaz for dinner. We were greeted very friendly and, even though it was fully booked, we were given a table for 1 hour and 30 minutes, which was absolutely enough for us. The food was very tasty, everything was freshly prepared. The staff is very friendly. And the price-performance ratio is right here! Will be back and can only recommend eating here! :)

We recently visited this restaurant, and it was one of the most disappointing experiences of our lives. We waited an entire hour for our food, and not a single staff member bothered to come over and explain the delay. It felt like the serving staff simply didn’t care about the customers. When the food finally arrived, the wait was absolutely unjustified. The steak was the only acceptable dish, but the schnitzel was a complete nightmare. It was so dry that it was impossible to chew, and there was hardly any meat inside—just some tasteless breading. We even wondered if they had served us something that was past its expiration date. The restaurant's interior does look nice, but that doesn’t save the situation. If we had come just for the atmosphere, that would be one thing, but we came to eat! The cocktails were also underwhelming—we expected bold flavors but got nothing but muddled sensations. Overall, I would rate our experience a 1 out of 10, and that’s only for the interior. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone who values quality service and delicious food. It's better to spend your money elsewhere, where you will truly be appreciated as a customer.

A very good dinner for my partner's birthday, everything was a success! I recommend this restaurant. The setting is great, there is a good atmosphere.

We went this place twice in a day, lunch and dinner. Food for lunch: Tomato Creme soup - hearty, nice and hot, soul-warming Bouillabaisse - smells a little fishy when it arrives, but oh well it is a seafood based soup. 2 good quality prawns, around 10 small to medium sized black shelled mussels, some red-skinned fish I couldn’t identify. Sides were baguette and potato salad. Felt it is a little overpriced for what I got but I guess seafood is just expensive in Germany. Still enjoyed it though, prawns were the highlight but sadly only two of them in that pot. Schnitzel - Nice, large, thin piece of fried pork in crumbs. Crumbs were really nice and crispy, pork doesn’t smell weird like the other schnitzel I had in some other restaurant in Schwarzwald (I actually start hating schnitzel because of the smell that time). Sides were fries and salad. Food for dinner: Crunchy pork belly - we actually came back because I want to try this on the menu and also the waffles we missed during lunch as we were rushing to another place. Pork belly were crunchy on the outside and soft and fatty on the inside. Didn’t felt “too much or too oily” towards the end of the meal but I think my salad compliments well to it. If you choose fries as the side might felt too oily eating them together. The sauce reminds me of some Chinese sauces that I had but it is actually samjang based sauce. Overall I like this light dinner I had for myself. Flammkuchen - this is my first time trying this dish and I liked it a lot. It tastes almost like a thin pratha with cheese and onion toppings on it. Crispy, cheesy, oniony. A great snacks in my opinion. Waffles with cream, ice cream, caramel sauce - this waffle is on the menu but we asked the staff if we could twist it a little bit by substituting it with cream because I love cream on waffles so much (even though there were already ice cream and might felt a bit too much). But you know what, the Chinese best compliment to a dessert is that it is not too sweet. And that is my comment on the waffles I got. Good balance of sweetness from the caramel sauce, the cream, and the really nice ice cream. Waffle itself is soft and fresh. I would go back again for waffles for sure if I could and I think the price point is also great. If you research enough, many other restaurants have even pricier dessert. Hence I think the waffles are of good value to money. Service - prompt and friendly, staff also speaks English despite no English menu provided. Ambient- really nice and comfortable, felt high end. Reservation - do come with reservation made ahead of you do not want to wait too long. We were lucky to get a seat for late lunch even though there was no reservation made but we could tell that it is indeed a popular spot for meals. We also walked in for dinner the same day and it was full so we just sat on the bar area to eat.

Great food at very reasonable prices. You can't complain and you get great service here. The ladies were all very friendly and the toilets were all very clean.

The food is fantastic. We had club sandwiches and the current pasta dish. I can also recommend the mussels and the steak.
