The absolutely best and authentic food of the area. Very friendly service and amazing decor of an old blacksmith shop. I can't speak enough about the food it is so delicious and amazing from vegetarian dishes to big hearty meats and big selections of schnitzel's anything you order is the best you will have for sure. Call ahead to make reservations the place fills up quick as you could imagine.

Update: First of all, we always enjoyed going there, but the price increase (new menu) is no longer justified. And it's also been disguised by the fact that you have to pay extra for the side salad. Unfortunately, we weren't quite as enthusiastic about the food. My husband had a garlic schnitzel and I had the one with braised onions. Unfortunately, the menu doesn't mention that in both schnitzels, both the onions and garlic are drowned in a rather bland gravy. In my opinion, this should be mentioned on the menu. The fried potatoes also had a lack of flavor. The service was very friendly and attentive. We wouldn't go back just for the food—particularly because special requests aren't welcome here! Addendum! Tastes generally differ—that's what reviews are for: sharing personal impressions. You can tell from some of the reviews and their responses that they generally don't handle constructive criticism and other people's opinions! It's all in the tone of voice! I went to the blacksmith shop for the first time with friends. The restaurant is small but cozy, the staff was nice to us. My schnitzel with fries was delicious, but too expensive at €19.90 without salad. The salad costs €4.50 and I know from my girlfriend that it was included at no extra charge at the end of last year! The owner's comment on a critical review (a salad instead of fries) really irritated me, that's not how you treat guests. What's the problem with giving out a salad instead of fries? I can't understand.

The food was really delicious, the steak was cooked perfectly. The side salad now costs €4.50 extra, previously it was included. I asked nicely if I could just get a side salad instead of fries or fried potatoes. This was of course possible, but I still had to pay the €4.50. Unfortunately, the boss quickly became very unfriendly and unwilling to compromise. She also declined a free salad that was smaller than the side salad as a replacement for the fries. But when I just wanted to order the steak without any side dishes and asked if it would be cheaper - I was simply told no. As she left she complained about guests “like us” I thought that was a shame, because for us, eating also includes the feeling of being welcome. Unfortunately, that was no longer the case here. My conclusion: Very tasty food and a nice ambience - as long as you behave like a guest and don't have any special requests! The lack of ability to take criticism can also be clearly seen in the responses to some reviews. Since I was now able to read the response to my review, it confirms my impression. We were neither stubborn nor unfriendly. I was surprised and then actually shocked at the way in which our request and then demand was responded to in such an unfriendly manner. I didn't know that before. We didn't call the boss, but the waitress got her. The service was consistently very nice! Already in the restaurant and now in the answer you notice that you are not welcome as a guest with special requests. That makes you more sad than angry! You can often only do something like this if you don't have to rely on guests. A good restaurant visit also includes good service! It's a shame to distort the situation like this. I would actually rather drive further away than eat here again!

Nice quaint Hessian restaurant. Something different.

It was a wonderful evening in the Boppsche Schmiede! We were happy that a reservation was possible at short notice and the four of us enjoyed the wonderfully rustic ambience. The food was simply perfect, starters, main meals and dessert were so incredibly delicious. Wonderfully creatively prepared and so tasty! I was particularly happy about the Tegernsee ;-) The hosts know their craft and entertain the guests well. You just feel really comfortable here! We have already reserved again :-D

We came here because of the good reviews and because we were looking for something delicious to eat nearby. And all I can say is - the apple wine is amazing, the schnitzel is amazing, the salad is amazing, and the fries are amazing ☺️ The schnitzel with pepper sauce is extremely flavorful!!! I also think it's great that they offer the schnitzel in small portions (the same fries and salad, but only 1 schnitzel instead of 2). Normal prices: Large schnitzel 17.50 euros Small hand cheese schnitzel 15.50 euros 0.5 apples 4.50 euros Service was really friendly, professional, and uncomplicated. So, I definitely recommend it!

Absolute secret tip, super friendly boss, simply a great restaurant, with absolutely great regional food, but also unusual creations from the kitchen. E.g. Hot blood/liver woscht in puff pastry with homemade side dishes (sauerkraut and mashed potatoes with a difference) So good!!!

The Bopp’sche Schmiede is a real jewel in Langenselbold! The schnitzels are simply brilliant – perfectly fried and incredibly tasty. The owners are warm and create a family atmosphere. The ambience with the wooden beams is rustic and inviting. Fair prices, delicious greetings from the kitchen and top fried potatoes. Absolute recommendation! PS: be sure to reserve at least a week in advance and only cash is accepted!

Very tasty food. Everything tastes freshly prepared. Side salad, zwiwwel schnitzel and mushroom cream schnitzel as well as the fried potatoes are a dream! Main meals are the perfect size, not too much and not too little. A greeting from the kitchen is something very nice. There is fresh Tegernseer on tap 😊 Good service. Nice quaint pub. The only thing that bothers you are the two slot machines. Unfortunately, it ruins the nice, cozy atmosphere a bit. Nevertheless, we would like to come back 🙃

I'm very angry and disappointed! I called there in SEPTEMBER and reserved a table for Boxing Day. Now I wanted to let you know that we were coming with one less person and was informed that we would be there on the first holiday and that it could only be my fault, as the gentlemen ALWAYS enter everything correctly and agree on everything exactly. But I know 100 percent that I said 2nd holiday! My family has never been out to eat on the first holiday, this is not possible for us! “The early bird catches the fish,” said the lady on the phone at the time. Blaming myself and not being given a proper apology, let alone an escape route, is the last thing. The kicker is that three hours later I had a missed call from the Boppsche Schmiede. I thought, okay, maybe they've sorted this out now, but no, the call was an accident?! I'm very disappointed in you! Now we are without a restaurant so close to Christmas. Many many thanks.

We spent a waiting time having friendly conversations at the counter. The food was served to us hot on pre-heated plates. Everything freshly prepared!!! Excellent in taste. Even the side salad was beautifully prepared. Price-performance ratio top. Just like cleanliness, ambience and above all friendliness. It's a shame that it's too far away from us.

We happened to end up in the blacksmith shop while on a bike tour and sat at a table in the cozy courtyard. Nice map with a regional touch. Meat dishes, salads, vegetarian and vegan dishes. The service was very nice and attentive. The greeting from the kitchen (cauliflower shot) was sensational and our food (Hessian Rösti with hand cheese and side salad, meatloaf with onion sauce, savoy cabbage and fried potatoes) tasted excellent. Oh no, the owners caught me. I have never gone shopping or eaten in other restaurants (e.g. in Frankfurt) with cheaper prices and reasonable quality.

We were very lucky and received a friendly welcome without a reservation because there happened to be a free table. Care, friendliness and warmth are taken seriously. The food was great, the burger was cooked to perfection, the tarte flambée was well topped, the Hessian spring rolls and the potato sausage were a hit. We will definitely visit Bopp'sche Schmiede again when we are here.

Really cool, small and rustic pearl! Went there for the first time this evening and it was really great! We arrived there at 5:00 p.m. for the opening (Sunday) and had already heard that everything would probably be full or reserved. It was actually the case that there was a sign on all the tables, but the boss made a table available to us (2 people) before the actual reservation. This was valid from 6:30 p.m. and so we had enough time to eat comfortably! Otherwise we could have sat at the counter to eat, which would have been nice too! It was a celebration! Service was great, the boss was in a good mood and very accommodating, as were his service staff. Food was really excellent. As a starter, Hessian spring rolls, very tasty (except for the blood sausage, which wasn't my favorite but was good, a matter of taste, the rest was great) and for the main course, pasta filled with green sauce-pesto and cream sauce which was outstanding and on the other hand a Hessian Handkäs' schnitzel with sauce and fried potatoes, also delicious. In short, you can go here and it tastes great! Price performance is also good. Please keep it up!

The best spare ribs I've ever eaten. The service was very friendly

Unfortunately the biggest disappointment I/we have ever experienced. We were 6 adults and one child. We have reserved for 7 people. When we wanted to put two tables together, we were bullied for the first time by the manager of the house. When another guest joined our group, we were told that we wouldn't get anything to eat because we had only reserved for 7 and not 8 people. The child didn't need any extra food, so as previously announced there would only have been 7 meals. We told the lady that too. The boss said: "It wouldn't work like that, she also has a quota. We can't just bring in another person without making a reservation for that person". The menu and cutlery were then cleared away again. We had something to drink and then left. If you don't want to make money, you're out of luck. But we will not recommend this restaurant to anyone and will never enter it again. An absolute disgrace. Unfortunately, you cannot respond to your very amusing post here. Therefore here in the aftermath. You should stay in the office and not serve guests. The negative entries always refer to her person. Funny. They were mushy from the start. We just wanted to help put 2 tables together. If you don't like it, you can tell us politely. The outside area was completely empty except for three people. The gentlemen already had their food. Now to their twisted truth: •We were exactly 20 minutes early. We were told on the phone to just come over. We said that it was difficult for us to estimate because we were currently still cycling in Hanau. We have given you a rough time. •The child wouldn't have eaten anything, so the number remained. •And if you have to pay for 2 packs of anti-depressants (which you really need), then you want those 2 packs too. Just like we paid for 2 fake water that we also want. Your plastic flowers outside thanked us. They weren't even able to finish things until the end, so they went inside and weren't seen anymore. •No problem we will find a restaurant that will happily take our hard earned money. So far we have never had any problems. We do this every Sunday!!!!!! Maybe you should think about whether the job is the right one.

My new reference when it comes to German cuisine, schnitzels and the like. It's no exaggeration when I say that I no longer like schnitzels elsewhere. At the weekend you will have to feel it again when you visit a traditional Frankfurt Ebbelwei Biergadde. At Boppschen Schmiede, great importance is obviously placed on quality. The food always comes out super hot, feeling like it comes straight from the pan. Everything tastes fresh and we are always thrilled with the great taste. I don't have to add any seasoning, so far there hasn't been anything that I didn't find tasty. Reservation is mandatory! Reservations are made for a maximum of 10 people. I always drink cider or water here because I don't like the beer selection. There's worse, four of us there again this evening. We're looking forward to it!

Hier wird der Fan der "hessischen" Küche verwöhnt. Eröffnet wurde das Treffen mit einem gut gewürzten Amuse- Gueule aus der Küche- einem warmen Tomatencreme-Shot. Als nächstes folgte die Vorspeise- hessische Frühlingsrollen (gefüllt mit Leberwurst, Blutwurst und Sauerkraut auf Kartoffelstampf-Röschen), dazu ein südffiger Äppler. Nach dem Gaumenschmaus folgten die Hauptgänge. Diese bestanden aus dem kleinen Schmandschnitzel, dem kleinen Championschnitzel und dem normalen Handkäs-Schnitztel mit je Pommes und Beilagesalat und zu allerletzt dem Hessenrösti mit Beilagesalat. Zum Abschluss gab es einen kalten Kümmel und einen Espresso. Wir waren mit dem Service, wie auch dem Essen rundherum zufrieden. Fazit: Wir kommen gerne wieder. Tipp: Definitiv reservieren. Die Location ist nicht allzu groß. Parkplätze für 2 Std. (eingezeichnete Flächen/ Mo-Fr) gibt's auf der Straße und einen Parkplatz neben der Apotheke für 3 Std. (Mo-Fr). Das Preis/Leistungsverhältnis ist normal.

Everything was perfect from A to Z, the boss and boss added the icing on the cake to this excellent culinary delight. The very cozy natural wooden house feeling really gets you in the mood for exactly what you want. Home cooking internationally refined at its finest. To put it briefly, "that's all you can get" starting with the crispy fried potatoes and ending with the Handkässchnitzel sauce, which just damn tastes really good like Handkäs. As it should be. Betreiber sind Systemlinge und wahrscheinlich auch Impflinge haben zu Coronazeiten alles sehr energisch umgesetzt !! Es wahr schon fast unheimlich !! Essen war aber gut !! werde allerdings mit Freunden nicht mehr dahin gehen wir können mit Menschen ohne eigenen Willen nichts anfangen !!!

Well, it can hardly be more traditional Hessian. Incredibly beautiful ambience in what feels like a half-timbered design, everything tastes twice as good. The service is firmly in the hands of the lovely gastronomy couple who practically read your every wish from your lips.
