We had a really good meal. The schnitzel was cooked perfectly. Sauce was served afterward. The salad was delicious, and even the biscuit with coffee was tasty. The service was super friendly. It was quite noisy in the "winter garden" because people were talking loudly. But we managed to find a relatively quiet spot inside. The view of the Lahn River is fantastic.

The team at the Bootshaus perfectly organized our wedding celebration...everything was beautiful, great service, a fantastic ambiance, a delicious buffet, excellent value for money, and super friendly and competent service from start to finish. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!!

Despite the perfect weather, the Lahn terrace was unfortunately closed. Our request for a view of the Lahn River was met with a less than friendly response. Six other groups/couples were in the same situation. It's incomprehensible. The food was okay. The house lemonade tasted very artificial.

The beer garden is beautifully situated, right on the water and near the rowing clubs. Unfortunately, the food doesn't quite measure up. The schnitzels are mediocre at best and look (and taste) like frozen goods. The side salad and sauce (hunter's schnitzel) are also rather uninspiring and more like a snack bar. However, the prices are a bit high, despite the location.

Great location, good food. The downside: There's no option to tip the waiters via card payment. I don't think that's contemporary or fair to the staff. Other restaurants have long since found practical solutions for this. So I left with a negative feeling—a shame!

The prices are high, but you get a frozen schnitzel and only three half mushrooms in a gravy sauce. You had to frequently alert the waitress. The waitress wanted to charge €4 for a small portion of vegetables instead of the side salad, which, while understandable for the cost of goods, is absolutely excessive. After we finished our meals, no one asked for more drinks, even though we would have liked to stay longer. Nice location right on the Lahn River, but still not recommended because the price-performance ratio isn't good.

It used to be great here, but the food is now rather average. The restaurant thrives largely on its location. Unfortunately, the service today wasn't a disappointment either. Even 15 minutes after our plates had been cleared and our empty glasses were on the table, they didn't even bother to ask us what we'd like for drinks or dessert. And it wasn't even particularly busy.

The food was delicious, there were plenty of staff on duty, but unfortunately, coordination wasn't quite right. The service staff should be more on their toes... but otherwise, everything was fine. You shouldn't have to sit for 30 minutes with empty glasses.

So, we didn't go to the boathouse itself, but bought food from the stand next door for self-collection and then sat in the beach chair. Wonderful! We bought fries without great expectations and were very surprised when a wonderful bowl of homemade potato chips arrived. Plenty and delicious! The boathouse makes the fries. It's worth it for the fries alone. The staff is friendly.

We had a wonderful company outing at the Bootshaus Gießen with excellent food and a lovely spot on the terrace overlooking the Lahn River. Despite the large group size, the service was always attentive, prompt, and helpful. Highly recommended!

It's unclear whether the parking spaces in front of the boathouse are also open to guests. There's no sign indicating this.

If you are looking for dinner in a well-attended environment that also conveys tranquility due to its proximity to nature, this riverside restaurant can provide you with this set of options at the same time. The food and service are adequate for the location.

Great location, right on the Lahn River, lovely atmosphere in the summer! The menu hasn't changed much in recent years and is quite limited, but the dishes are incredibly delicious, beautifully presented, and the portions are generous! Especially the burgers! The service is very friendly! The cocktail and soda menu is also great! We always enjoy coming back.

The prices are a bit high for what you get. The vitello tonnato was completely overcooked and flavorless (it had no taste of meat or tuna, for €16.90). The homemade lemonade was delicious, and the pan-fried shrimp was okay. But the schnitzel with green sauce wasn't particularly tasty, and it cost €24. In Frankfurt am Main, you can eat a very tasty, authentic schnitzel with plenty of green sauce for €16, even within walking distance.

We were there for lunch today with 14 people, and it was very nice. Very friendly and quick service, good food...despite the bad weather, we had a nice seat inside!

The price-performance ratio is catastrophic. Self-service prices = prices with service. Unmanageable. One waitress told us to order and pay at the bar. So, it was self-service, so we sat down with our "loot" at a table with a nice view. After 10 minutes, we were chased away because the table was supposedly reserved. We were told to sit "behind the fence." Just forget it, I won't come back voluntarily 🤣🤣

We had reserved a table outside, when we arrived they could only offer us one in the blazing sun. When asked whether the parasols could be opened, the answer was flippant: “They’re torn.” A proper catering establishment checks BEFORE the season whether everything is in order. And that includes the parasols. However, we took the place in the sun because we were hoping that it would be bearable once you get something to drink. However, after 15 minutes we still hadn't been served. When we asked when someone could come, the answer was "the colleague is coming down soon" - and no, the ladies didn't seem to be suffering from stress, they were constantly standing in one place and chatting. We spoke to the colleague who came down and she told us that she couldn't take an order because she didn't have anything with her. The colleague who is up there has to do that. This colleague was the nice lady who told us in a terribly nice tone (warning: irony!) that we had to wait for the other one. We then left, and when asked about the situation the only answer we got was “yes, then it’s okay”. We can't rate the food and drink because no one came to see us. 1km further there is the Marine Stuben, also beautifully located on the Lahn with the complete opposite of service staff. Very friendly, attentive, quick, accommodating. Simply perfect! Boathouse - definitely not again!

Wir waren mit 2 Personen am 1. Mai dort. Die Lage des Lokals ist sehr schön direkt an der Lahn gelegen. Wir saßen auf der Terrasse. Die Auswahl an Essen war mit Schnitzel, Burger und Salate klein und überschaubar - es war eben eine sehr kleine Essenskarte. Allerdings waren dafür die Preise doch extrem hoch, speziell auch für Getränke. Die Qualität der verspeisten Burgers und Salate war ok, aber zu dem Preis auch kein Highlight und auch von den Portionen her nicht besonders üppig. Der Service war leider grottenschlecht. Keiner der Kellner und Kellnerinnen fühlte sich richtig zuständig und die Servicekräfte insgesamt waren total überfordert und teilweise mit sich selbst oft beschäftigt und unfreundlich, obwohl die Außenterrasse nicht mal voll besetzt war. Die Getränke und das Essen hat ewig gebraucht, bis es an den Tisch kam. Uns taten die Leute am Nebentisch sehr leid, diese wurden nach dem Platznehmen über eine Viertelstunde nicht bedient bzw. von den Servicekräften überhaupt nicht beachtet. Daraufhin von den Gästen angesprochen, fühlte sich niemand vom Service zuständig und die Gäste bekamen mehr oder weniger mitgeteilt, dass doch wieder gehen könnten. Das haben sie dann auch getan. Alles in allem war es für uns gerade noch so ok, aber einen Wiederbesuch wird es von uns nicht geben, auch keine Empfehlung dort hin zu gehen - Gute Lage, sehr schlechter Service, durchschnittliches Essen mit wenig Auswahlmöglichkeiten und sehr teuer!

Delicious and with a beautiful view

We were there with 2 people on May 1st. The location of the restaurant is very nice, directly on the Lahn. We sat on the terrace. The selection of food was small and manageable with schnitzel, burgers and salads - it was just a very small menu. However, the prices were extremely high, especially for drinks. The quality of the burgers and salads we ate was ok, but not a highlight for the price and the portions weren't particularly generous either. Unfortunately the service was terrible. None of the waiters and waitresses felt really responsible and the service staff as a whole were completely overwhelmed and sometimes often preoccupied and unfriendly, even though the outside terrace wasn't even fully occupied. The drinks and food took forever to come to the table. We felt very sorry for the people at the next table; after being seated, they weren't served for over a quarter of an hour or were not paid any attention at all by the service staff. When the guests then approached them, no one in service felt responsible and the guests were more or less told that they could leave again. That's what they did. All in all, it was just ok for us, but we won't be visiting again, nor will we recommend going there - good location, very bad service, average food with few choices and very expensive!

Wir haben das Lokal nach 15 min warten in der Sonne, nachdem sich keine Bedienung um uns gekümmert hat, verlassen. Es war weder übervoll, noch war wenig Personal da. Dies zog es vor im Schatten miteinander zu plaudern. Auf unsere Nachfrage, bei wem wir unsere Bestellung aufgeben könnten, gab es eine schnippische Antwort - und trotzdem fühlte sich niemand zuständig. Schade, schöne Location, die von unwilligem Personal geprägt ist.

Good food and nice ambience on the Lahn!

Wunderschöne Location, online Reservierung lief ohne Probleme. Die Drinks waren super, das Essen gut, allerdings hat auf meinem Salat eine Zutat gefehlt und ich hätte mir direkt Pfeffer und Salz Streuer auf dem Tisch gewünscht. Wir kommen aber auf jeden Fall wieder!

The location is wonderful, right on the water. The staff is very friendly. I personally find the chairs uncomfortable. And the food? Hmm, I would say average but relatively expensive.

The backdrop is always beautiful and relaxed. The food was always great and the service was always very friendly and warm. We come by regularly. The map is always fixed but it's actually nothing bad.

Were here on a Sunday last week and wanted to have a drink, unfortunately all the tables were reserved. When I asked if there was a table available, I said yes, if I ate something, it would only be in the self-service area. There was no friendly face from the staff.

We actually know the boathouse completely differently. So far it has impressed with the terrace and a beautiful view of the Lahn. Last night the window front was covered in black by blinds so that there was no view. The drinks menu had a good selection of (white) wines, but they were totally overpriced. For example, a glass (0.2 l) of Lugana for €8.40 and the Vermentino for €12.90. We ordered a salad with grilled shrimp and vitello tonnato. The salad was soggy, the prawns were not grilled and also overpriced (€20.90). The Vitello Tonnato was an outrage. The meat was cut far too thick, gray and completely dry. The tuna sauce didn't contain any tuna, but was a sticky tartar sauce. The waitress was nice and tried hard, but explained this by saying that many guests don't like the sauce so fishy and offered to make a new sauce. At the end we received a cappuccino or a dessert on the house as compensation. Conclusion: We will no longer visit the boathouse.

A very lovely and relaxing restaurant with a great view and wonderful outside seating. Good selection of food with some traditional German choices. The burgers and housemade lemonades are very good. Can be very packed if there are any soccer games going on.

Was really nice. The waitresses and waiters were very nice and welcoming. The food was also very nice, the portions were good and the price was very reasonable for the view and food you get.

Die Eigentümer sind überaus entgegenkommend, das Personal freundlich, hilfsbereit, kompetent und Sonderwünsche werden gerne erfüllt. Das Essen entsprach unseren Wünschen, Alternativen werden angeboten sollte etwas nicht vorhanden sein. Preis Leistung stimmt immer. Gerne kommen wir wieder.

We have been to the boathouse several times for a variety of occasions and have always been very satisfied. The owners are extremely accommodating, the staff are friendly, helpful, competent and special requests are happy to be fulfilled. The food corresponded to our wishes, alternatives were offered if something was not available. Price performance is always right. We would be happy to come back.

Unfortunately the service was absolutely terrible. The waiters were sometimes incredibly unfriendly, very annoyed and unable to take orders adequately. Things were missing from more than half of the dishes ordered (several side salads, grilled vegetables and even the shrimp on the fish platter, which only consists of 3 types of fish). Drink orders sometimes had to be placed 3-4 times before they came. When we were approached about the lack of side dishes, we were offered hot drinks to compensate. Since we didn't actually want hot drinks, but preferred a dessert, we asked if we could agree on this, but this was bluntly rejected. The circumstances were explained with new staff in the kitchen - sorry, but if you don't know the dishes on offer, you just have to look at the menu, especially given the high prices. For me there is no relationship between price and performance. In addition, on a Saturday lunchtime, some dishes that were on the menu were no longer offered because they were out (e.g. Jägerschnitzel, goulash soup).

When the weather is good you can sit outside on the terrace. Access to the road is a bit difficult to see. Street itself very narrow. However, there is a parking space available.

We had a celebration (approx. 40 people). Sat in the hall upstairs, with a great view of the Lahn. Everything was perfect! Every single guest was very satisfied with the overall package (ambience, view, food and service). Always my pleasure! Only recommended. The next celebration will take place there again.

We were there around 4 p.m. It was quite full because of the good weather. We each ordered Jägerschnitzel. The food took an average time. When the schnitzel came, we were surprised at first because instead of the fries that were on the menu there were potato slices that I didn't like The schnitzels were okay but not really good either, the sauce was a bit little. What I didn't like were the individually packaged mayonnaise and ketchup, which I just find unprofessional and honorable in the category of fries.... that's how I would classify the schnitzel too .lg Julian

Das Reataurant liegt direkt an der Lahn und man hat einen schönen Ausblick. Die Bedienung ist sehr freundlich, sehr umsichtig aber nicht aufdringlich. Das Essen kam schnell und war lecker. Es ist keine große Speisenauswahl aber jeder findet etwas. Egal ob Fisch, Fleisch oder Vegatisch/Vegan.

Here you can experience the complete enjoyment of Gießen and the Lahn. Fantastically beautiful location, plus a perfectly selected ambience from the restaurant. The food was close to perfect (we had the appetizer platter for 2, fish platter for 2, chocolate souffle with pistachio ice cream) and beautifully presented. Finally a restaurant where the pictures of the food match reality. Just awesome. Prices are completely okay. We were also recommended drinks to go with the meal, an Italian apero (non-alcoholic), that was amazing. And the big highlight is the homemade lemonade (see picture), which can be packed with Bionade or Coca-Cola etc. The service was also not standard, you were always spoken to at the right time. They always knew exactly when to be there and when not to be there. Not like in other restaurants, where you are spoken to with your mouth full or with your mouth on the glass. It was the perfect degree, not overpowering and not absent either. Even though you had a wedding party there today. Brutally good service! To round things off there was a very, very good Americano espresso (as an Italian I can judge that ;-)) Meanwhile, the rowing team went to the water, less than 2 meters away from us. What a feeling. So conclusion: As a Giessen mud-biter born in the 90s, I can only say, go there and experience it for yourself. Grade 1 with *
