BOGA Beef & Bar in Hannover

I've been there three times, and each time the food arrived very late; the earliest was 50 minutes! The atmosphere is boring and lifeless, the food is "okay," nothing special, and the prices are very high for what you get.

We've always been so satisfied, but unfortunately, this time it wasn't quite right. The server simply took our plates from the table without asking, even though we were still eating. The Spezi (a popular German soft drink) wasn't what we're used to; this time it tasted just like water, and the color was, well, not at all like Spezi. The server spoke to us as if we knew each other personally and were like bros. After paying and again when saying goodbye, she even touched our arms – that's completely unacceptable! I love this restaurant; you can feel so comfortable there. We were truly speechless. We hope next time it will be like it used to be.

The guy who changed the table wasn't very sympathetic, a bit too posh. The prices are also really exorbitant, everything is extra (french fries, sauce...)

Very bad experience at Boga… There was a menu for half of the group that we had to ask for ourselves, cutlery and napkins were missing after the food was served. Which we also had to contact ourselves. From the start, the waiters were busy pointing out that we should hurry up and eat since we only had a 1.5 hour booking. The service was impersonal, and when we pointed out a very dry overcooked steak, we got a new one that was close to raw steak, so we referred it to the waiter, who started arguing with us. The food was generally bad and did not live up to the promotion on Instagram. All 7 people were generally not positively impressed with the service or food unfortunately. Unfortunately, we were completely ignored even though the place was empty… we waited 20 minutes after ordering water, and no one came to take our order. So we got up and paid for the water… It's a shame, I was really looking forward to it, but they didn't even give us the water for free as an apology.

An absolute nightmare! The wait was unbearable and endless, the food was a complete disaster, utterly inedible and ridiculously overpriced. The service was not only unfriendly but also completely indifferent, ruining the entire visit. A true nightmare that I would never recommend!

I had a really great experience at this restaurant. The steak I ordered was absolutely delicious — perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavor, exactly how a proper steak should be. I also really appreciated how well the staff took care of our table. The waiters were attentive, professional, and paid great attention to detail. This was my first time at Boga Beef, and I was very disappointed. While the staff were friendly, we had to wait a long time for our order, and some of it arrived incomplete. In my opinion, the food wasn't worth the price; overall, it was too expensive. Furthermore, they only accepted cash that evening, which we weren't informed of beforehand. We only noticed the small sign on the bottom right of the door when we went inside to pay, and then had to make a special trip to the bank.

A nice place with delicious burgers in the heart of the city at a reasonable price. The staff was friendly, and the guy at the register had a great sense of humor. The burgers were juicy, but the wait time was a little longer than expected. Overall, though, the visit left a pleasant aftertaste. We were disappointed that card payments weren't accepted that day, so we had to gather all the cash in our wallets and figure out what we could afford. We didn't want to go to the ATM because it was pouring rain outside. But in the end, we left full and satisfied. The atmosphere was good; we enjoyed it.

My girlfriend and I were really looking forward to our first time at Boga Beef – and we were incredibly disappointed. I'd say it was the worst restaurant experience I've ever had. But let me start from the beginning: We had a reservation for 8 p.m. and had to wait a little over 30 minutes for our table. Of course, that can happen on a Saturday night, but this was just the beginning of our ordeal. We had ordered soft drinks, two appetizers, and two main courses, and specifically requested that we receive the appetizers first, not with the main courses. After another 30 minutes, the first appetizer arrived. My girlfriend received nothing. Despite asking the waiter, it took so long that I had already started eating, finished my meal, and my plate had been cleared. My girlfriend's appetizer, however, was still missing. After about 90 minutes, the two main courses arrived – but both orders were wrong. And at the same time, my girlfriend's appetizer finally arrived. After asking the waiter, the main courses were cleared away, and my girlfriend was finally able to eat her appetizer. After more than two hours, we finally received our main courses. My girlfriend had ordered dessert to finish. After another 30 minutes or so, we asked when the dessert would arrive. We were then told that the waitress hadn't passed on the order. For us, that was the end of a three-hour visit. The bill? €25 more expensive than expected. The prices on the online menu and the physical menu in the restaurant were not the same. Since I had checked online, I was once again unpleasantly surprised. I hadn't been informed about the price difference. An evening to forget.

Unfortunately, a complete disappointment. Despite having a reservation, we had to wait about 45 minutes outside the restaurant. Once inside, the waiting continued, and after another 1.5 hours, the main courses arrived. While they tasted very good, all the side dishes we had ordered were missing – and this was for a party of 15!

1kg for a rib steak or a 450g rump steak… in reality you have to remove a third or even half… it’s just theft.

I don't know how some people can rate this burger as good?! Do they eat old sweaty socks for dinner at home?! I ordered the "Mamma Mia." With a burger, the quality of the patty is paramount. Which was sorely lacking. It was an industrially produced phosphate-laden patty. The taste and texture were reminiscent of meatloaf. Cheap garbage! The whole burger tasted like old cooking oil. And for €10.90? Outrageous. Stay away.

They added 20% fee for drinks to the price. The service was terrible. When I asked why they wanted an additional charge, they said they didn't do anything like that. When we asked for the receipt, the price changed. If you have money to waste, go for it.

Despite having a reservation, we waited 15 minutes in front of the restaurant, and everything was fine at that point. The service staff was initially very friendly and cheerful. However, after waiting two hours for our food, the guests became somewhat impatient, and the staff didn't handle the situation very well. The food itself was excellent, but half of the side dishes and the appetizers were missing. When it came time to pay, the staff became rather unfriendly and tried to bribe us with a free round of shots. All in all, an unforgettable evening, but unfortunately, not in a good way.

It takes over 2 hours for the food to arrive, and then it's cold. If you have plenty of time and don't care about good food, then come on in, you'll be well looked after here!

😡 Nightmare Service and Unacceptable Behavior - Avoid at all costs! Our visit to the restaurant BOGA was an utterly disastrous experience. • Interminable Wait: We arrived at 8:00 PM and were still not served by 10:00 PM. A two-hour wait for a meal is simply unacceptable. • Broken Promises: We followed up with the staff multiple times, and each time we were consistently told the food would arrive in "10 minutes" , promises that were never fulfilled. • Lack of Professionalism and Empathy: When I went downstairs to express our legitimate dissatisfaction, I was confronted by a staff member who not only refused to acknowledge the excessive wait but also justified the situation by claiming it was "normal" to wait that long and that they were "not robots." • Verbal Abuse and Disrespect: The worst part was the escalation of the conversation; the individual became increasingly verbally aggressive and displayed a complete lack of respect. We ultimately decided to leave the establishment due to the dissatisfaction, the blatant disrespect, and the verbal abuse we received. Note: The manager did hear our complaint in the end and offered us the drinks we consumed, but this gesture did not make us forget the obvious lack of respect and verbal violence of his staff member. I cannot judge the quality of the food, as we were never served. However, if you are looking for a restaurant where customers are treated with courtesy, respect, and professionalism, look elsewhere. This is definitely not BOGA. Save your time and money. There are plenty of other excellent restaurants in the area that know how to treat their customers with respect.

To begin with: The service was very attentive. However, we waited well over an hour for our food. Then, shortly before 11 p.m., four burgers finally arrived, which were lukewarm, and the accompanying fries were cold. After we had finished eating, the appetizer and side dishes arrived. Very small portions. Completely unjustified for the prices charged. On top of that, we also received dishes other than those we had ordered. Absolutely not recommended.

Reserved a week in advance, waited over an hour at the entrance and was constantly ignored… If it's full, then just be honest and don't leave customers waiting in the cold.

On the recommendation of a friend, three of us made a reservation for dinner after the fair. We ordered the 1kg tomahawk steak. We ordered salad and a few appetizers. The steak arrived an hour later. They didn't serve any of the other items we ordered. The salad arrived just as we were finishing our meal. Of course, we sent it back. We canceled the other orders and asked for the bill. The fact that the person in charge came to ask if we were satisfied added another dimension to our dissatisfaction. When we went to pay, they said no credit cards, only cash, was a separate shock. Will we come again? Never. Will we recommend it to our friends? Never.

It's outrageous when waiters adjust their own tips.

We asked if there was a table for two available – we were told we could wait 10 minutes. After 15 minutes, another couple arrived at the restaurant and were also told to wait 10 minutes. After 45 minutes, the couple who arrived after us had already been given a table, and we were still waiting! We left and ate somewhere else. We didn't have to pay for our beer; I think the waiter felt guilty about it.

We had reserved a table from 4 pm to 9 pm – plenty of time for a leisurely meal, I thought. 😉 The staff seemed genuinely delighted by our additional orders, and at 6:30 pm, the lights suddenly went out only above our table – supposedly "for ambiance." As you can see in the photos, the atmosphere at the other tables was considerably brighter. Around 7 pm, we were informed that our table had unfortunately been reserved for someone else – which can happen when there's a queue outside for the trade fair. The icing on the cake: they didn't accept card payments. Of course, without any prior notice. Conclusion: If you enjoy unexpected surprises, you'll be thoroughly entertained here. For everyone else: there are plenty of places in the city with lights, a menu, and a genuine atmosphere.

Delicious food and wonderful staff

The food was good and tasted okay. However, the value for money wasn't quite right for me. It's hard to get full, as almost everything costs extra – even bread. Only a small salad is included. I've had better meals and gotten more for the same price. The service was okay, and the ambiance, on the other hand, was really very good and pleasant. Overall, a solid restaurant, but I think there's still room for improvement in terms of food and value for money.

Overall, everything was great. I'd be happy to come back anytime.

I'm giving it one star, but only for the ambiance. The starter was okay, but the bread that came with it was unfortunately hard. But that wasn't the worst part... I was served a rump steak (actually medium rare). It had a fat border and was gristly throughout. When I wanted to return it, they just referred me to the menu. It says that there is a fat border, but not that the chef can't cook it medium, let alone that the meat is made of nothing but gristle—nor that it felt like it was drenched in fat! (Photo!) 🤢 There was no apology from the waitress, not even compensation in the form of dessert (all of which I would have accepted). No way! I still had to pay the full €24.90 for the most disgusting piece of meat. Thanks. Never again. Addendum: I've republished it because my review was deleted. The review is from 2022.

Chosen based on the positive reviews. Unfortunately, it was a complete disaster. We ordered two salads and a burger. One was an Oriental, which was missing some of the listed ingredients, and the other was beef: Some beef and a little green salad with croutons. Really nothing special. And for almost €20, it was really embarrassing... The burger for €17.50 was okay, but for a single burger without fries? There are definitely better restaurants for those prices. Fine dining is definitely something else for me.

We wanted to have breakfast here because we'd heard nothing but good things about this restaurant and it looked very inviting. When we sat down outside, the waiter practically ignored us. He continued setting all the tables, ignored our "good morning," and brought an ashtray to every table except ours. We were the only customers at the time. Another waiter was sitting outside the restaurant on one of the chairs, loudly watching videos on his phone (and also ignored us). We sat there for 15 minutes trying to get the attention of one of the waiters – unfortunately in vain. No hello, no order taken, nothing. We then left and had a delicious breakfast at another restaurant. It was probably a better choice not to eat at BOGA Beef & Bar.

I've rarely eaten such delicious chicken skewers. Everything was just perfect!!!

Very chic restaurant, we sat outside. The food came quickly and was cooked exactly as ordered (one medium, one medium rare). The dessert was the crowning glory. All in all, it was a very pleasant evening with excellent food. Highly recommended. The service was very attentive and courteous. We'd be happy to return next time we're in town.

We came here spontaneously; the place is beautifully decorated. Unfortunately, we couldn't find anything positive about the food. The carpaccio was sliced too thickly for us, and the meat was unfortunately tough. Unfortunately, the waiter was dissatisfied when I said it wasn't that tasty; he thought they were supposed to eat meat and carpaccio that way.

Stopped for a beer and to sit down and relax. Choose their Goat burger from the lunch menu. What a hit, best burger I have eaten during the last years. Well balanced, not too dry, not too soggy. Just perfect and tastful.

The problem is: You don't see the nuances of the orders. - There is no fixed seating arrangement for the wait staff and no clear contact person for the waitress. Somehow, everyone just does their own thing. In conclusion, I can say: Being a waitress isn't just about bringing food to the table. It's about being attentive, taking serious care of your guests' needs, and being accommodating when mistakes happen. Something the restaurant owners probably only partially communicated to their staff.

The worst service I have ever seen in my life

Disappointing! I was at this restaurant yesterday and, unfortunately, I was not at all satisfied. The waiters were very inattentive. Our order was brought incomplete. We ordered Coke with lemon, but we were told there was no lemon. Not having lemon in such an expensive and supposedly luxurious restaurant is truly ridiculous. When we asked for a straw for our Coke, a blond, male waiter with glasses mockingly said, "Drink with your mouth." Such a rude response is absolutely unacceptable. We asked for the long straw to be cut in half and served that way – this was done reluctantly. A short time later, however, we noticed that other guests had lemon slices in their drinks. Of course, we mentioned it, but it was ignored. Such disrespectful and unprofessional service is completely out of place for a restaurant of this price range. The staff urgently needs training on how to treat guests respectfully and kindly. I will definitely not visit this restaurant again. And to everyone else, I advise you to think twice or three times before you go. It's a real shame when you pay a lot of money and then end up so disappointed.

I was with you today for lunch from approximately 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. The food was absolutely excellent, hot, and delicious. Many of my special requests were also accommodated. My waiter, Leon, was quick, competent, and took a lot of time and effort to make sure everything was perfect for me, even though he was working alone for quite some time. The restaurant has a fantastic ambiance, but unfortunately, things went wrong at the end. I wanted to pay and had to hurry to catch my train, so I went inside to find my waiter, Leon. He greeted me with a big smile and made me pay. Unfortunately, the manager thought I'd been waiting a long time and loudly argued with all the waiters downstairs that this wasn't okay. If he interferes, he should at least know why and clarify beforehand that everything is above board. Especially since there were few waiters, you normally expect a manager to help out. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case. He was sitting outside watching videos loudly, so my stay was repeatedly interrupted by strange videos. One of the men's toilets couldn't be closed, and the urinals were covered, so why not take care of that first before loudly yelling at innocent waiters? I'd be happy to come back.

We've rarely been to such a bad restaurant. We had reserved a table for 8:00 p.m. and didn't get it until 8:30 p.m., and no less, in the cigar lounge. None of us smoked. The drinks took about 45 minutes to arrive. The food arrived at 10:30 p.m. The restrooms are a disgrace. Any woman who needs to go to the bathroom here is to be pitied. It's an outrage for a restaurant in this price range.

If you are looking for some great steak in Hannover, this is your place. We started with a mixture of dips with bread to ease our first appetite. Next a beautiful steak burger. Don't forget to order some sides as the burger was gone quickly. The restaurant has lots of seating inside but when the weather is good the big terrace is your first and best option.

Now for the review after our second visit. Right from the start, our first visit was significantly better than the second, both in terms of both the food and the feel. First, the positive. The food was very tasty, although on our first visit it was even a bit better than this time (we ordered the same thing), and the service was super friendly both times, although each time they forgot a small thing we had ordered. We ordered a bottle of red wine, two medium-rare fillet steaks, which were cooked to perfection both times, and the side dish was rosemary potatoes, which were definitely 100x better the first time than the second visit, as were the mixed grilled vegetables, which on the second visit consisted almost entirely of peppers. There was also herb bread. A mixed salad came free with the steak (which wasn't available on the first visit, by the way). Also, the herb butter was frozen, which was a total disaster. It couldn't be used because the steak wasn't hot enough to melt it. The steak came with corn on the cob, which, by the way, was the best corn my wife and I have ever had (on both visits). The rest of the food (a carrot and a spear of green asparagus) was so-so. Our little one ate a burger with fries, which he said was great. Now for the negatives. The flowers on every table had died and were drooping, which obviously didn't make a good impression at all. The windowsill was dirty, and the seats behind the benches hadn't been cleaned in a while. The Fanta glass was broken on the inside (purely visually, there was no risk of injury). Furthermore, the bottle of wine hadn't been opened at the table, and one of the wine glasses was scratched. It has nothing to do with the quality of the food, which, as I said, was excellent, but at that price (€180 for 2 adults + child), I think not only the food should be good, but everything else as well. And it's a high-quality restaurant, not a snack bar. There was also no paper in the toilet, and the height is ridiculous. Unless you're 2.20m tall, you can't really sit on it. Your feet hang 20cm in the air.

If I could and could fill up my stamp card anywhere in one evening, it would be here. The burgers and the baked lava with ice cream are absolutely amazing. We went to Boga Beef Bar and were absolutely thrilled. The ambiance is truly stylish, yet relaxed. The food was incredibly delicious, especially the steak, perfectly cooked and super tender. The side dishes were also top-notch. The service was incredibly friendly and attentive; you just feel welcome. We'll definitely be back! 🤩

Unfortunately disappointing visit I had a very disappointing experience at the Boga restaurant in Hanover. After waiting over an hour for the food, I asked the waitress if we had been forgotten. She then informed me that there were no more avocados available for my salad - information that could definitely have been passed on earlier. I asked for an alternative, but we still had to wait another 15 minutes until the food was finally served. The payment process was also unprofessional: although the waitress had previously collected money at other tables outside, we were asked to come inside to pay. When I asked her about the bad experience, she couldn't or wouldn't respond. Overall, disappointing service and unfortunately not a visit I can recommend.

We were very disappointed with the restaurant. The service was completely overwhelmed and had no overview. After more than half an hour, part of the order was brought, the rest didn't come despite repeated requests. There was no apology from the restaurant. When we asked, we only had to pay for two drinks instead of three. Not recommended.

There is great potential for improvement. A little tip for singles: the restaurant is perfect for a date, there is enough time to get to know each other.

Not recommended!!! Food is served cold and wrong. Complaints have to be discussed forever. Toilet broken and very dirty. Staff very unfriendly, drinks and food take forever. They sell Jägermeister but bring whiskey and cinnamon... all in all, the worst visit to a restaurant in ages!!!

Unfortunately my visit was disappointing. The food left a lot to be desired: one steak was cold, as were half of the potatoes on the plate. The taste of the whiskey sour we ordered had nothing to do with a classic whiskey sour - there was no noticeable protein at all. For €12 I definitely expect something different. In addition, the toilets were in a catastrophic condition, which made the overall impression even worse. Overall, unfortunately not a recommendation.
