BLOCK HOUSE Zehlendorf in Berlin

The Blockhaus restaurants I know are all showing their age, both visually and in terms of their interior design: they definitely need some work. However, the food and service are still top-notch! Therefore, Blockhaus remains my favorite place for delicious steaks!!!

Our second visit was, and once again the food and service were superb. Luckily, we were served by Ms. Binnur again; she is simply delightful and truly puts her heart into her work. Even though our first visit was over three months ago, she remembered us. Respect for that, and a testament to her attentiveness and competence. I highly recommend this BLOCK HOUSE.

Aside from the salads, it's good value for money. Very friendly staff. Always worth a quick visit! 😊

I visited Block House in Steglitz today and had another thoroughly positive experience. The restaurant has stood for consistent quality for years, and you can see that in every detail. What I particularly appreciated: • ✔️ Very friendly and organized service; even during peak hours, the team remains calm and attentive. • ✔️ Steaks cooked to perfection, cooked to perfection, and of high quality. • ✔️ Clean, well-maintained dining room, pleasant atmosphere – ideal for a relaxed meal. • ✔️ Fast kitchen service, perfect if you're short on time. • ✔️ Fair price for the quality offered. My recommendation: The "Block House Filet" with baked potato is consistently excellent every time. Add a crisp salad, and you have a well-rounded, classic steakhouse experience. I always enjoy coming back – a reliable classic in Steglitz that demonstrates how good gastronomy can be done.

I always enjoy coming here – highly recommended! For the first time, I got my rib-eye steak exactly to my liking, thanks to the attentive waiter who listened perfectly.

Unfortunately, parking is a bit difficult. The service was super friendly. The food wasn't quite what you'd expect from a log cabin restaurant.

Good Block House branch. The staff is friendly and reliable. The food is usually excellent, but steaks are rarely overcooked and tend to be dry as a shoe sole. You have to get lucky whether you get it medium or well done. The salads 🥗 with American dressing are really delicious and a great start to the lunch specials 👍🏻. In summer, the outdoor terrace is very pleasant.

This was my first time here. The service was extremely friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere in the restaurant was also very pleasant. We had three different steak dishes, and all were cooked to perfection, as ordered, and the meat was very juicy. The desserts were also delicious (lava cake and apple strudel). A bit pricey (juice spritzer €6.90), but overall, it was justified for the good quality and top-notch service. We'll be back!

Apart from the service and the ambiance, we can't recommend it. The food isn't recommended and is also overpriced. We haven't been this disappointed in a long time.

You're allowed in with barking dogs, but if you bring your quiet cat Lars, who sits quietly under the table with you, you're not allowed in. Strange rule...

A clear 5-star rating for this restaurant. It's rare to find a server who does their job with such humor, fun, and enthusiasm. Our meals were all perfect. The safety measures in place are appropriate! This is the best Block House we've ever visited. We'll be back!

My wife and I ate at the restaurant today, August 28, 2025. My wife had the daily special, and I had the New York cheeseburger. The price-performance ratio was completely out of whack. We had finished our meal when the dessert menu was handed to us (but how!) with the words, "Here's the dessert menu." A few minutes later, the waiter asked us in a manner like, "What would you like to order?" We can't understand this kind of behavior. That was the last time for us, and we won't be visiting a Block House restaurant again in the future. There are better steak restaurants in Berlin.

Run-down and very dirty. Cobwebs behind the 90s curtains. Dirt clinging to the air conditioning, and very poorly organized. Time stood still. No greeting or seating at all, as one would expect from other Blockhaus branches. The food was from the bottom drawer: soft garlic bread, cold, overcooked potatoes.

The steaks are of the usual quality. Unfortunately, the perfect moment wasn't perfect. Of the four steaks, only two were cooked to the requested degree. Truly sad for a steakhouse. The service responded to a barb with pure ignorance. Unfortunately, a worse blockhouse.

We had a super-friendly waitress who you could immediately tell enjoyed her job – something you don't see very often these days! The food was, as always at Block House, delicious and of the usual high quality. All in all, a successful visit – we'd love to come back.

The steaks were cooked to perfection, which isn't always the case even in better steakhouses, really good... Update: Yesterday, August 7, 2025, we were there again. All the steaks were wonderful, as always. However, this time the staff seemed a bit overwhelmed. Perhaps another member of staff could have helped with the workload on the terrace. Our table attendant often walked by quite inattentively and also seemed overworked and in a hurry. Not so great for the price, though... but maybe we were just a bit unlucky yesterday.

Everything was very good, except for our waitress. We were a bit unlucky there. The lady was in a bad mood and unfortunately let us know it. It wasn't nice. I won't go into detail here—hopefully she was just having a bad day. But we won't be coming back here anytime soon. The food was excellent, and the steaks were exactly as requested. I highly recommend the food. We sat outside in the garden in the beautiful weather. There's parking nearby (best on weekends or after 8 p.m.), and the S-Bahn stops practically right outside. Of course, we're not avoiding Blockhouse now—quite the opposite—it's just that we don't necessarily need to go back here again in the near future, at least.

Always a pleasure to eat there. In my opinion, one of the nicest restaurants in the chain ;)

We were there as a family with a small child. We had made a reservation and had the choice of whether we wanted to eat inside or outside (although if it had rained there wouldn't have been any room inside - understandably). There's an open kitchen inside and you can watch the food being prepared, absolutely fantastic... The salads are excellent and delicious. The child got something to draw and had her own little menu with a really great selection of food and drinks! The food was incredibly delicious - we had steak, turkey steak, seasonal vegetables, a vegetarian bowl, a hamburger, fries, children's spaghetti with tomato sauce, a baked potato with sour cream and the Block House bread is really good. The portions are good and the price was reasonable 👍 The servers are all very friendly too. I'd love to go again 😊

The Block House has been in Zehlendorf for ages and has apparently built up a loyal fan base. As a globally experienced food snob with newly tuned taste bud software, I thought: Time for a revival. I ordered the fitness pan (irony?) and the cheeseburger. Spoiler: My palate would have preferred to stay fit and silent. The meat in the pan was unfortunately as tough as a Monday morning – overcooked, dry, and lost my trust a little more with every bite. The cheeseburger… well. Cafeteria vibes galore. Instead of a fluffy bun, there was garlic bread (was that intentional or kitchen chaos?), and the cheese seemed so out of place, as if it had missed the bus to Burgerstraße. "New York Cheeseburger"? Maybe in a parallel universe. The service was absolutely top-notch. Friendly, humorous, quick – someone should seriously award the team a medal of honor for good humor. I'd definitely come back for a beer and a good atmosphere. As for the food, I'm hoping for a small culinary miracle—or at least a new recipe strategy.

"Lunch Time" alone is in a class of its own. Where can you get better prepared meat? I've tried a few places in Zehlendorf and have been disappointed many times! A good selection of wines, and the dessert isn't bad either. And it's especially busy at lunchtime!

We were on the terrace on a beautiful summer evening. It's nice and very large. It's clear that you can hear the S-Bahn trains, and we were aware of that, so it didn't bother us. The seating, etc., is "normal." The service was excellent, very friendly and attentive, even though almost all the tables were occupied. We didn't have to wait long for any part of our order, so we have to compliment them on that. The main thing, however, the food, was a disappointment. We didn't like the rosé wine—okay, that's a matter of taste, not the restaurant's fault. The red wine, on the other hand, was really good. Whether they have to sell 0.5 liters of tap water for €3 after bubbling and garnishing it with a slice of lemon—never mind, it's our problem; we didn't have to order it. But: The steaks—which should be the main focus in a steakhouse—were really nothing. The degree of doneness wasn't checked beforehand—okay, we could have been more careful. But the fact that both steaks were cooked all the way through and almost grilled to death is a real shame. And the fact that the steaks were laced with tendons—well, we'd have wished for a bit more care in selecting the "Mastercut" ("the pride of our butchers"), especially at the price of €34 per portion. That, however, also included the most ordinary fries and a small salad with lots of onions. It's a matter of taste, I'll admit. But our conclusion is clear: There are much better options for good food (e.g., steak) in Zehlendorf. We won't be going there again.

Everything is simply perfect again. No matter where you go at Block House, my English steak is always perfect. I've been to several other steakhouses. No one has managed to get it as "English" as I'm used to at yours. After many visits to various Block House restaurants, I haven't had a single steak that wasn't perfect. Just keep going; in my opinion, you're unrivaled as a steak restaurant chain.

The Block House Zehlendorf offers solid steak in a pleasant atmosphere. The meat is a bit tougher than before, but still decent. The service is friendly and attentive. For the price, it's a decent choice with no major surprises.

Terrible service. All German speaking people around got their orders in 10-20 mins while we had to wait for more than hour. Eve for a small kid they didn’t bother to bring something earlier. Food is decent but the service is out of order.

We found the food very tasty. Yes, I admit the portion could have been a bit larger, but it was good and the staff was super friendly and accommodating! The ambiance is rustic, but perfectly suited. I like it, and we'll definitely be back.

Uncle Block is always a bank. Food is top notch and the ambience is always great. You can't go wrong there.

We come here every now and then, but the price-performance ratio is just not right anymore. They're rushed out. The tables are simply sticky. They should be sanded and repainted, or just buy new tables. Very old-fashioned. And the coffee doesn't taste good either.

I have been a regular and satisfied guest of yours for a long time. I was all the more disappointed today by the unfriendly and rude manner in which I was treated by Ms. Duckwitz. I have never encountered such disrespect in your house. If I hadn't been there so often and always had friendly service in the past, I would probably have stopped visiting today.

Simply top-notch! From the initial greeting at the door to the final farewell. The restaurant boasts a pleasant ambiance with plenty of space between tables. The chairs and benches are very comfortable. Another positive aspect is that there are plenty of waiters to ensure the well-being of the guests. Following a positive, American example 😉 From what I've seen, each waiter only has four tables to serve. Consequently, no guest is left out, and there are virtually no waiting times. We were only there for an hour and had a pleasant stay with appetizers and various main courses. You receive quick, friendly, and prompt service. The open kitchen allows a glimpse of the three hard-working chefs preparing the meat to perfection on the grill. Consequently, all the dishes are top-notch: The meat, whether well-done or medium, is cooked to perfection, juicy, and tender. Everything comes fresh from the grill, not from the pan. Even if the price is a bit higher than, say, the Assado, the extra charge is worth it, because the quality and service are top-notch. Don't go without a reservation on weekends! It's worth announcing your birthday if you're eating there 😉

I wait in the morning because without a table reservation I still got a table. I would still recommend reserving a table and if possible not at the entrance as there is a draft. The BLOCK HOUSE Zehlendorf at Teltower Damm 36 in Berlin offers an excellent steakhouse experience. The quality of the steaks is excellent, perfectly grilled and tender. The side dishes, such as the baked potato and the crisp salad, complement the menu ideally. The atmosphere in the historic Fürstenhof is cozy, and the Mediterranean sun terrace in particular invites you to linger. The service is friendly and attentive, making the visit a completely successful experience. For steak lovers in Berlin, the BLOCK HOUSE Zehlendorf is definitely worth a recommendation.

We have always wanted to stop here. Now we have done it. Very cozy atmosphere, really nice staff (which is no longer a given), the food was very good. The prices for a steakhouse are also acceptable. We'd love to come back.
