Last night I was once again in this great Block House in Cologne. Just like the last few times in the last few months, I was served by Enzo. Enzo already knew what I wanted and recommended a few refinements, which he even brought “on the house”. Simply great! Thank you very much, dear Enzo! As always, the meat was cooked to perfection with a wonderful crust. The whole thing was served at lightning speed, so the waiting time was hardly measurable. I was allowed to choose the table by the window myself. My heartfelt thanks to the entire service team, especially Enzo, and the fabulous kitchen, who prepare the steaks so inimitably delicious, for a wonderful evening. We had dinner with the family at the Block House for our birthday. The service (Enzo) was extremely friendly and warm. We felt really welcome! We were also impressed by the food, even the vegetarian options were great. The ambience rounded off our evening.

We celebrated my husband's birthday in the Blockhaus Cologne. We really like going there because you not only get a very good steak, but also because you always receive exceptionally friendly service. This time Mr. Zakzak looked after us wonderfully. He is not only very friendly, but also incredibly competent. We would love to come back!

The service was exceptionally good - friendly, attentive and always there to ensure we had a wonderful evening. The food was simply perfect: all the steaks were cooked just right, juicy and full of flavor. Each of us was absolutely satisfied. A big compliment to the entire team! We'll definitely be back.

We recently dined here with three people, including one pescatarian and one with lactose intolerance. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t meet expectations, especially given the price range. The fish dish was disappointing—dry, a small portion, and overly reliant on sauce, lacking the feel of a complete meal. For the lactose-intolerant guest, there were repeated issues with dishes containing milk, despite prior notice. While the staff resolved these mistakes professionally, the constant need to double-check ingredients made it difficult to relax. The service was friendly and attentive, but the food quality and attention to dietary needs were below par for the price.

My favorite restaurant in Cologne. Very tasty food, very friendly service, enough space between the tables, even if the house is full... just perfect.

Had dinner at the Blockhouse Cologne on New Year's Day, what can I say...since there are Blockhouse fans anyway, mostly on Sylt/Westerland or Hamburg, we really liked the ambience here too! Friendly service, food (Mr. Rumpsteak) perfect as always - all in all great, we weren't disappointed! And even closer, for us from Bergisch ;-) - we'll definitely be back!!! Food tasted great. Unfortunately the service wasn't that good. We asked twice for mayo and ketchup and they didn't come until we were finished eating. Drinks also took a long time to arrive. In addition, guests were watching videos at the neighboring table, which was very annoying and didn't create a nice atmosphere. I expect more from the Block House and am disappointed that the waiters don't take action. So unfortunately I can only give it 3/5 stars even though the food tasted very good.

Like being fed gold. The food is absolutely amazing, there are hardly any words to describe it. The various dishes are perfectly coordinated and harmonize perfectly with the drinks on offer. A true dream! Also very friendly and attentive waiters and a wonderful atmosphere. Very chic and cozy at the same time. We were absolutely satisfied!

Super tasty steaks, the cheeseburger is also highly recommended! The steaks are super tender and cooked to perfection. The dessert (lava cake) was also great. The service is very attentive and quick.. all in all a completely successful evening ☺️

this is the one of the worst burgers ive eaten during any of my travels. Our waiter was rude to us and didnt want to help us. we ordered a medium rare steak and they gave us one thats well done

We had a very pleasant stay in the Blockhaus in Cologne. The food was good, I would rate it 4 out of 5 stars - solid quality and tasty dishes. Particularly noteworthy is the friendly and attentive waiter, who made our lunch even more pleasant. Thank you for the great service!

Me and my family visited this restaurant in early November. The visit to this establishment was a bit strange and I thought for a long time whether I should write this review. I would like to mention the restaurant's layout as generally positive. It looks very nice and inviting and has a typical American steakhouse style. Despite the high number of visitors, the service was fast, reliable and friendly. The food was again only tolerable. The steak was good quality but comparatively small and the fries were as thin as microwave fries or McDonalds fries. The salad was also puny and you had to specifically order sauces, which is not so common in most of the restaurants where I frequent. When you order a steak you are asked directly what sauce you would like. What made the whole visit so strange was a small note on a stand on the table. It said that people should be understanding about smaller portions because "the politicians in Berlin and Brussels" have made shopping for food so expensive and they want to relieve the burden on the guest. That seemed strange to me because I've eaten in a variety of restaurants since the energy crisis and even in the countryside I've had good, large steaks with automatic sauce and decent fries. Of course, it could also be that we were the victim of a prankster, but he printed the restaurant's logo on the paper. So he or she should have put a lot of effort into it. But if this actually reflects the restaurant's opinion, I don't know if I would want to visit the restaurant again. Everyone has their own opinion, sure, but I don't trust anyone who uses the energy crisis as an excuse to serve customers half portions even though other restaurants can do it too.

That's what I call a smart steakhouse! This is the second time here - first-class steak prepared both times - to the point. The service was guest-oriented, friendly and quick. The food was, as just described, first class. It was hot and the waiting time was reasonable. The atmosphere is friendly and cozy. Gladly again.

Simply magnificent. The steak and salad are perfect. You definitely need to make a reservation before coming to this place. It is impossible to find a place.

My husband and I decided to spontaneously go to this establishment. We had to wait a bit as there were a lot of people on Saturday evening. It was nice while waiting to receive an unexpected compliment from the restaurant in the form of a glass of red wine. The steak was tasty, well cooked. I liked the side dish in the form of baked potatoes with sauce. Thanks to this establishment for a pleasant time spent.

The Block House in Cologne city center is consistently convincing: friendly and lightning-fast service, coupled with excellent taste in every bite. The typical Block House quality delivers what it promises – a truly successful dining experience.

After sitting at the table we asked our waiter in German whether he spoke English, he said he didn’t which was absolutely fine. Unfortunately from this point the service was non-existent and generally just rude. The food was great, my steak was more rare than medium rare but this wasn’t an issue (not that anyone ever checked). The waiter put our salads down at the end of the table and walked off (not in front of us despite the fact we had no food at the time). Once we had finished our mains we waited over 30 minutes with our empty plates in front of us and no one even looked at us, it was like the waiter was making a point of ignoring us. Eventually we wanted to leave so I called the manager over and said to him we had been waiting for our plates to be cleared and would like the bill. His response was ‘it is full tonight’ no apology or anything, no one around us had the same treatment and funnily enough the waiter was then there in 30 seconds with the bill and card machine. I don’t expect people to speak English, we can make do with our broken German but it felt from this point we were just disregarded. Given this is opposite a Christmas market I think the attitude needs to change.

It's all ok! Beautiful view of Rudolfplatz Christmas market. delicious beer, nice wines and of course tasty steak! Priced at a very high level. But occasionally it's ok.

Have been here many times with the family, this time a piece of meat was not optimal, but it was replaced without any problems. Thanks, keep it up!

It was a great evening with absolutely perfectly fried steak. All 9 and the dog were super happy. If we are in Cologne again we will definitely come by!

I made a reservation by phone, arrived on site and was then told that nothing had been reserved, no tables were available and that I could wait to see if anything became available. If you make a reservation I expect a table, that's not possible! I am massively disappointed with the Cologne branch and am not used to something like this from the main branches in Hamburg.

Only 30% of the total capacity can be booked in advance. The rest of the tables are made available for more spontaneous customers. We waited 10-15 minutes for the stairs in Stegen (there is space at the bottom, you could perhaps use it as a waiting room. But then a colleague at the bottom should always communicate with the colleagues at the top). Enzo is particularly nice 👍 The meat (rib eye mastercut) was good. Medium well (or rare at Madame) was also correctly executed. A table by the window is recommended. Suggestion for improvement: add cocktails and chimichurri to the menu.

Block House in Cologne is definitely a place I would like to recommend. The food was really excellent. I enjoyed a juicy rump steak with a delicious baked potato, while my wife opted for the small steaks. The salad to start was fresh and tasty. The service was extremely friendly and attentive, which made the visit even more pleasant. The restaurant itself has a pleasant atmosphere and is a real asset to the Cologne gastronomy scene. The only small point of criticism on my part is the type of beer, which I personally didn't like. But that is of course a matter of taste. Overall, my visit to the Block House in Cologne was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and I am looking forward to returning there soon.

After my first visit at lunchtime, I unfortunately have to report negative experiences, especially regarding the quality of the food. The side salad was at university cafeteria level, the rib-eye steaks were ordered medium but were served raw to medium/raw, and the meat was stringy and gristly. There was also a dry piece of garlic baguette, which would have tasted better freshly baked from the frozen food chest at Netto. Only the baked potato was of an acceptable standard Overall, given the cost of around €30 for the lunch menu, I have to recommend visiting another restaurant if you're hungry for steak. At least the service was very friendly

We stayed at the Block House at the beginning of November and actually have to give the service 10 points, it was that great! :) It started with the elevator not working and then a very polite employee (Dominik, we think) welcomed us downstairs and took us up in another elevator (the perfect solution with a stroller and 2 seniors). In the restaurant we were accompanied from A to Z by the same employee and the waiter Younes with the best service: high chair, warmed up the porridge we had brought with us for the baby, brought a picture and pens for the child, champagne on the house for grandma's 75th birthday, quick Preparation of the food, extra vegetables for the baby from the salad buffet, constant but not intrusive questions about whether anything else was needed, a helium balloon for the child when he got restless... If Younes still If they had performed magic tricks, we wouldn't have been surprised at the great level of engagement. A really extremely guest-oriented and child-friendly restaurant. We are really excited. Mr. Zakzak is a fantastic host, always smiling, great with the kids and adults and still keeping the service and food in mind. We were looked after by various waitresses and waiters throughout the evening - all of them very friendly and helpful. A team that is second to none! We will be back and can highly recommend the Block House Cologne!!!

Unfortunately only 3 stars. However, the service was top! The side dish (potato gratin) was also very tasty. But unfortunately the steak was brutally bad. Very tough and with tendons (could have been made better at home). Maybe the chef just had a bad day.

The steak was good but the baked potato was heavenly. I will never forget the taste and would definitely go again, even just for the experience. We had two steaks: a Hereford Ribeye (250g) and a Ribeye Mastercut (330g), both medium. The Ribeye Mastercut was significantly better than the Hereford, it was softer and juicier. Their “medium” is generally more towards “rare”, i.e. not quite medium. However, that wasn't a problem for us. Don't order anything extra, all the side dishes are more than enough to fill you up. The service was friendly.

Yesterday I visited this location for the first time. I found it really wonderful how friendly and solution-oriented the friendly service staff was when it came to my special requirements. Has food allergies. This is not a given. The dishes themselves were also tasty. I'd love to come back.

Good food and friendly service in a cozy atmosphere.

We were amazed at the speed and friendliness of the service. The food came quickly too. Unfortunately, one steak was almost raw instead of medium. However, this was resolved immediately and everyone was happy. Only the shrimp as a starter was a bit small. The clean toilets should also be mentioned.

We were in Cologne on Saturday and spontaneously went to the Blockhouse. We were surprised at how friendly we were greeted. The service didn't take long and the food was very good. We were very happy with the service and the quality of the food: we ordered beef medallions, fries and a side salad. We would come back at any time and can only recommend this restaurant.

Here in the Block House Cologne you sit on the 1st floor. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The food is good as expected.

Food: 2.5 Served lovingly but unfortunately the meat was a bit disappointing... a bit too much for the price. Edible, but weak in taste and not a little longing. Service: 4.7 Helpful, friendly, quick - a little difficult to understand at times. Ambiance: 5.0 Very quiet for the city center (more or less), nice view, nicely decorated and pleasant. Conclusion: A pleasant experience.

Almost seven euros for a small spritzer? Are you crazy? The food at “lunch time” was completely fine. Unfortunately, without knowing anything and without looking at the drinks menu, I ordered a small spritzer. A small water (0.25l) and 0.2l juice were brought in a carafe, so 2 small drinks. Almost seven euros were then charged for this. For comparison: The meal costs EUR 12.50 - not even twice as much. Unfortunately, as a guest, I feel a bit embarrassed by drinks prices like that! Then it's better to adjust the prices of the food slightly upwards and use reasonable drinks prices. Then you get the same result overall, but don't leave a negative impression on the guest. Unfortunately, that's just pretty stupid.

Great stakehouse at reasonable prices

At first we thought the Block House was closed. From the outside it gave this impression. We opened the door and went upstairs. Nice staff and delicious food awaited us there. We'd love to come back.

We always ate at the Block House on Sylt, we moved to Cologne and came here at the Block House and the service was great, the waitress (Nadine) friendly and always attentive, the taste of the meat is the same as on Sylt 10/10 .

Stopped in the Block house cologne for a steak and wasn't disappointed. Two of us in the party and we had the Rib Eye to share cooked medium rare. The stake came out a little too rare for me if I am honest, but tasty and good quality. The only downside for me was the steaks don't come with chips, but rather a jacket potato, whixh whilst nice was not crispy as chips should be with a good steak meal in my view. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Overall experience was good and would go back if in the area again.

Great food, comfortable atmosphere, but the service was the most amazing!! Younes was so amazing! He was kind, amusing, thoughtful, genuinely good person, and read his audience well. Simply cannot say enough praises! Highly recommend. Especially if you can get Younes as a host.

We were there on July 19th. in the Block House and were served very friendly by Zakzak and his colleagues. It was a pleasantly quiet atmosphere inside, so it was easy to have a conversation. The Block House is a great place to eat steak! The quality has always been good, the staff is nice and attentive. The atmosphere in the restaurant is usually busy but still cozy. The prices are absolutely reasonable for the quality offered. We like coming here.

So we were eating there today and there were a few mice running around under our feet. We informed the management about it and they were well aware of the problem but nothing was done about it. That was the last time we went out to eat there with so many mice in the store

Even though the new and “modern” design already exists here, there is still room for improvement. But perhaps they are more oriented towards the older generation of guests and keep it classic/old-fashioned. The food is simply good and this is where the real focus of the Block brand lies. The service is also strong and classic. Another great thing about it is that many employees have been employed there for 10, 15 or even 20 years. They also come learned and have specialist knowledge. The branch in Cologne is still relatively new, which you can also see on the terrace, which is not yet finished and looks temporary.

Always great! Great meat, top service, celebrated my birth days and the last New Year's Eve here! Super good, the staff always has a show free of charge and is very child-friendly!

Very good food, although my steak was well done and not medium rare. But it wasn't dry at all and tasted very good. They wanted to give me a new steak, but I refused because throwing it away would have been a sin. There was a round of Kölsch for that. Well, that was very nice! I really enjoyed the salad too! Can only recommend it! With a beautiful view and then to the Nickelback concert!

Sometimes it can't be the usual FF (fast food) or Italian. Sometimes you just have to have a good steak. After a little shopping tour and a contemplation in the beautiful cathedral, my old friend Arno and I decided to fortify ourselves with a good piece of meat. We spent some time looking for the locations, because a steak is like retirement: both have to be well thought out and enjoyed properly. Finally we came across "Block House" which Arno was able to recognize from the logo as he had often seen it on sauces and ready-made patties in supermarkets such as Rewe and Edeka. The building is located directly on a train connection, which is a huge plus if, like Arno and myself, you can't walk that far. Inside, the restaurant is very nice and modernly furnished. After studying the menu for some time, Arno and I decided to share a T-bone steak with a baked potato and garlic bread and water. After ordering, the friendly waiter promptly brought us some leaves of lettuce with French dressing, which I and Arno really enjoyed. After a reasonable amount of time, the waiter brought us the promised piece of meat, of which I have also attached a photograph to this review. As is normal for a T-bone steak, the meat had a few unpleasant edges of fat, but the rest of the meat was extremely tender and melted. It was seasoned with the finest garlic and salt and tasted extremely delicate. You could practically taste that the cow had only fed on the greenest grasses. However, in my opinion it is not worthy of 5 stars, because as every child knows, something has to be very sophisticated and original for Peter Gustavsen to give it 5 stars. The accompanying potato had very airy, soft "meat" and was fine as such. However, one complaint was the leathery skin, which somewhat deceived the taste experience. The garlic bread was basically okay. Nothing special, but not necessary for criticism either. At the end we let the extremely friendly waiter decide which dessert we should eat. Finally we were brought a chocolate cake with a liquid center. He also described the quality of this patisserie with the words "Maschalla", which I found very amusing. The service was perfect, our waiter Enzo was very polite and communicative, providing a very welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. Our group included also Japanese folks and he had the chance to exercise his Japanese :) The food was great, came on time and very delicious. And the Apfelstrudel was irresistible.
