Loading is worse, with terrible staff and a management that doesn't respond to criticism via email.

We were warmly welcomed without a reservation. View directly from the window of the busy city at night. We had a tenderloin steak… wonderful taste from the grill and delicate pink inside… really a dream… the service from Mr. Zakzak was very courteous and pleasant. Thank you very much for the great evening in Cologne.

Super friendly team from kitchen to service to manager. Food very tasty and top quality. In addition, the “birthday child” was celebrated extensively and given gifts. We'll be back...

We were there on July 19th. in the Block House and were served very friendly by Zakzak and his colleagues. It was a pleasantly quiet atmosphere inside, so it was easy to have a conversation. We had plenty of space at the table. The food was very tasty and my meat was cooked to perfection. Many thanks to Zakzak and his team.

The Block House is a great place to eat steak! The quality has always been good, the staff is nice and attentive. The atmosphere in the restaurant is usually busy but still cozy. The prices are absolutely reasonable for the quality offered. We like coming here.

Service super friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately I have to deduct a star. Unfortunately the food was cold, we reported this straight away and a solution was immediately sought and found. I thought that was great.

So we were eating there today and there were a few mice running around under our feet. We informed the management about it and they were well aware of the problem but nothing was done about it. That was the last time we went out to eat there with so many mice in the store

Even though the new and “modern” design already exists here, there is still room for improvement. But perhaps they are more oriented towards the older generation of guests and keep it classic/old-fashioned. The food is simply good and this is where the real focus of the Block brand lies. The service is also strong and classic. Another great thing about it is that many employees have been employed there for 10, 15 or even 20 years. They also come learned and have specialist knowledge. The branch in Cologne is still relatively new, which you can also see on the terrace, which is not yet finished and looks temporary.

Very good food, although my steak was well done and not medium rare. But it wasn't dry at all and tasted very good. They wanted to give me a new steak, but I refused because throwing it away would have been a sin. There was a round of Kölsch for that. Well, that was very nice! I really enjoyed the salad too! Can only recommend it! With a beautiful view and then to the Nickelback concert!

A spontaneous birthday dinner at the Block House in Cologne (Am Rudolfplatz) turned into a fun and delicious experience. Many thanks to the entire team for this great welcome and a big thank you to the best service person Younies. You gave us a lot of fun. Keep it up 🥳🍾

Sometimes it can't be the usual FF (fast food) or Italian. Sometimes you just have to have a good steak. After a little shopping tour and a contemplation in the beautiful cathedral, my old friend Arno and I decided to fortify ourselves with a good piece of meat. We spent some time looking for the locations, because a steak is like retirement: both have to be well thought out and enjoyed properly. Finally we came across "Block House" which Arno was able to recognize from the logo as he had often seen it on sauces and ready-made patties in supermarkets such as Rewe and Edeka. The building is located directly on a train connection, which is a huge plus if, like Arno and myself, you can't walk that far. Inside, the restaurant is very nice and modernly furnished. After studying the menu for some time, Arno and I decided to share a T-bone steak with a baked potato and garlic bread and water. After ordering, the friendly waiter promptly brought us some leaves of lettuce with French dressing, which I and Arno really enjoyed. After a reasonable amount of time, the waiter brought us the promised piece of meat, of which I have also attached a photograph to this review. As is normal for a T-bone steak, the meat had a few unpleasant edges of fat, but the rest of the meat was extremely tender and melted. It was seasoned with the finest garlic and salt and tasted extremely delicate. You could practically taste that the cow had only fed on the greenest grasses. However, in my opinion it is not worthy of 5 stars, because as every child knows, something has to be very sophisticated and original for Peter Gustavsen to give it 5 stars. The accompanying potato had very airy, soft "meat" and was fine as such. However, one complaint was the leathery skin, which somewhat deceived the taste experience. The garlic bread was basically okay. Nothing special, but not necessary for criticism either. At the end we let the extremely friendly waiter decide which dessert we should eat. Finally we were brought a chocolate cake with a liquid center. He also described the quality of this patisserie with the words "Maschalla", which I found very amusing. We spontaneously went to dinner at the Blockhouse for my birthday. The steaks were perfectly fried, the side dishes were delicious and the service was friendly and accommodating. The ambience in the restaurant is harmonious and inviting. We will come back in any case. Many thanks especially to Mr. Zakzak for the friendly conversations and the good tips on food.

Our visit to the Block House Cologne was a complete success. The staff was extremely attentive, knowledgeable and friendly, which made our stay very pleasant. The service was perfect, our waiter Enzo was very polite and communicative, providing a very welcoming and relaxed atmosphere. Our group included also Japanese folks and he had the chance to exercise his Japanese :) The food was great, came on time and very delicious. And the Apfelstrudel was irresistible.

Very nice waiters and very tasty steaks. All the waiters were very friendly and welcoming. It was really wonderful. I've eaten here so many times and never once regretted it. This place is really recommended.

We celebrated Grandpa's birthday here last week. The service staff were very warm and extremely fond of children. Our baby was treated super friendly and received lots of little gifts - a balloon, a ball, something to paint with, soap bubbles and much more 🙂 The whole team made sure that we felt comfortable. The food also left nothing to be desired. The steaks were delicious and exactly right, the cooking levels were exactly right. Many thanks to the team, keep it up ❤️

Unfortunately, steak is not my thing so I can't say anything about it :) but... a portion of fries is small, which is not appropriate for the price. The goulash soup is also very small, but tastes very good. Unfortunately, a burger without a bun isn't my thing either, but that's the only way it's served. The menu says it's freshly opened, but you can tell it's not fresh, it's from a spray bottle. It's very cozy and there's a lot of light coming in through the large windows during the day, which I personally like very much.

Good meat and you can easily get a place on the weekend even without a reservation

We had reserved a table and were warmly welcomed and shown to our table. We got the cards from a gentleman who then served us. We found him to be very unfriendly and listless. He answered questions quite spartanly. The young man who brought us the drinks tore the whole thing apart, was very friendly and funny. He enjoys his job. Food was sufficient and tasty. Overall, a steakhouse that you can visit, but there are far better ones and potential for improvement. The potential starts with the staff...

Our first visit there! The food was really good, the steak was excellent. The prices are quite high. Unfortunately, the atmosphere has something of a fast food restaurant. The service was twofold. The first person who served us wasn't very friendly and a bit condescending. The second one was more relaxed and in a good mood. The burgers aren't actually burgers because they don't have a lid and don't look like one. But taste good.

Super nice place where couples and families can feel comfortable. Above all, the service for the kids is great! They are treated like real little customers and tolerated. But the service was the best! Mr. Younes does his work with a lot of love, you could tell! Such employees must be appreciated, because it is rare to have such friendly service with entertainment quality.

Kind of like McDonald's for steaks. Unfortunately, the steaks are neither smaller nor larger. The weight of the cuts is fixed as stated in the menu (rib eye only 350g, rump only 180g or 250g, fillet only 180g, etc.). However, the service is quick and attentive. Still expensive in terms of price. I think other steakhouses serve a little better food for a similar price. All in all an average experience. Update after Block House's answer: First of all, thank you for the answer. I've clarified my answer a bit above. In fact, steak comes in different sizes, but e.g. B. Rump steak only in 180g and 250g. If I want a 500g rump steak, that's not possible.

The main course came even though we hadn't had our starter yet, that's not possible. The food was, as always, very good. However, both the salad and the potatoes here are smaller than in any other block house I have visited so far. Unfortunately that was our first and last visit.

The food there was amazing, extremely tasty, the meat was of excellent quality. What I have to particularly emphasize is the particularly attentive and super friendly nature of the entire staff. Solid steak, very nice service from Younes, reasonably priced and perfect for a spontaneous visit in the evening. We ate a ribeye steak (Hereford) and a sirloin steak as well as a Caesar salad. The Caesar salad was a bit slender compared to the normal small side salad and could have been larger. All in all, despite the system catering, the BLOCK HOUSE is not a bad address for a business lunch or a spontaneous quick dinner and is recommended.

Nice restaurant, very chic, everything is new because it is a new building with delicious food and very friendly service. Younes served us very well, friendly and entertaining from the start. The restaurant is very cozy but modern. Depending on where you sit, you look into the open kitchen, which isn't so nice, but it's not a big deal either. The steaks were delicious, as was the salad beforehand. For the Caesar salad we would have been happy with bacon or chicken. We had a great evening and the value for money was also right.

A new American steakhouse in town. Fair price for good quality of steak. Good quality of salt and pepper. It offers plenty of vegetarian choices for a steakhouse. Generous portion of side dishes. Fast and very friendly and welcoming service. Good location in the city.

We stopped in at lunchtime and were warmly welcomed and served quickly and first-class. The grass-fed beef tartare was very well seasoned and spicy and my T-bone was, as requested, medium-rare and had a very tasty fat crust and nice roasted aromas. Everything was just right today, a nice culinary treat to start the week.

I can happily say that I really enjoyed my stay at the Block House today. The interior design is quite simple, but the seats and tables are very comfortable. Country music plays appropriately in the background. I was very pleasantly surprised by the service; my waiter offered to simply swap my salad with the steak for the tomato soup from the daily menu, which I was after as a starter. For the main course I had a 300g rib eye, enriched with a baked potato (here too, the sourcream could simply be swapped for herb butter) and a piece of crispy, delicious garlic bread. Everything filled me up and tasted very good. I think it's absolutely fair to end up with an approximate price of €45 for a drink, starter and main course. So a clear thumbs up from me

Been to the Block House again! After the cinema, we had a delicious meal with my fiancée and my parents. There was also the super cool and funny waiter Mr. Zakzak! (That's really his name, he showed the name tag) Or is it even the boss?! In any case it was great!

Discovered the “lunch time display” in front of the house by chance. The restaurant is on the 1st floor of a new building on Rudolfplatz opposite the Steigenberger Hotel. Nice, quiet, dignified atmosphere with a panoramic view of what's happening in the city. The goulash with spaetzle and red cabbage was delicious and there was also a salad plate included in the lunch menu. Fast pleasant service. We were beyond impressed with the food and service here. Thanks to the excellent waitress who was always there when you wanted her, it was an excellent experience.

The service staff are friendly and take the initiative to care about the guests. The food is delicious. The soup is a little saltier than expected, but maybe this is the orthodox taste. The best log cabin I know. The quality of every log house is great, no question about it, but this log house also has the best service. A very attentive team professionally takes care of the well-being of every guest. I would like to thank Mr. Zakzak and his team very much. It was great and I/we will come back.

Unfortunately no sushi. No Indian dishes on the menu either. Pizza is also missing.

The Block House in Cologne city center is consistently convincing: friendly and lightning-fast service, coupled with excellent taste in every bite. The typical Block House quality delivers what it promises – an all-round successful dining experience.

Disappointing! We've been block house fans for years, but haven't been excited about it lately. The price/performance ratio is no longer suitable and neither is the service. We ordered a fillet medium. It came out over fried and burnt. Complained! After 20 minutes we got a new steak. Now they were very raw and cold. The fitness pan is cold and the meat is raw. The salad portions are becoming increasingly sparse. So my partner and I ate with a delay of 20 minutes. We actually wanted to spend a nice evening with delicious food. For €120 it should work better. Unfortunately, it wasn't the first time we went home disappointed.

Unfortunately we had to wait a long time for the food. The order was very complicated. We also had to ask several times for the bill. Other guests who came after us were served and billed more quickly. You don't get a second chance to make a first impression; it wasn't really that good here.

We were really looking forward to a good piece of grilled meat... It was difficult. We waited 3/4 hour for the side salad, which was delicious but unfortunately very carelessly prepared. No bread with it. Another half hour later our filet mignon (€35) arrived and it was almost raw, not medium as ordered. After several unsuccessful attempts to get the waiter to complain about our food, I quickly went to the kitchen with both plates. There was regret, they gave us a new, much smaller one!! We brought a piece of meat, which was actually great. No recommendation from me, not for the kitchen, reception and service.

Unfortunately we made reservations online for the wrong day. But there was no problem at all on site. Mr. Zackzack was very friendly and still gave us a nice table very quickly. The food was very tasty and the service from everyone was great...whether it was your own waiter or someone else who came over always helped. Also Mr. Zackzack kept coming by and asking if everything was or was ok and partially served. We would love to come back...

Food and service were very good! But it was very expensive in terms of price.

Not what you'd expect a burger to be like, but you're warned that they're lidless burgers. The taste was good, and the boneless chicken thighs were also very tasty.

However, 2 rump steaks were very heavily streaked with tendons. A pity.

Service was top, attentive and friendly. The ambience was also OK, but unfortunately when it comes to the food I have to say that the price is not in proportion to the performance. The portions are rather small and the presentation, which may also be due to the general concept, is also derogatory. A washed out plate with dishwasher streaks, steak and side dishes carelessly arranged. This gives a “cheap” impression for a steak that actually tastes satisfactory.

We ate there on Saturday with 6 people. Everyone enjoyed the food very much. But what is particularly worth highlighting is the perfect service, very friendly and attentive to be ingratiating. That made it an extremely nice evening. We will be back definitely.

Disappointed 3 times in a row Once the order was simply forgotten and we sat at the table for an hour until the staff noticed. Furthermore, twice the meat was not prepared as desired, then you are offered a new piece, which is annoying after waiting up to 40 minutes and the waiting starts all over again. You want to eat with the person across the street, but unfortunately this wasn't possible here

We were in Cologne again at the nearby theater. We spontaneously decided on the Block House around 5:30 p.m. We weren't disappointed. The price/performance ratio was very good. We will be back.

We went to Block House this evening as the end of our vacation. Normally we are in southern Germany. We have never eaten so well in a steakhouse - and we have been to many. The New York cheeseburger was incredible, as was the sirloin steak. Cooked to perfection. The side dishes and the entire amount of food were very appropriate. Not too much and not too little. The service was excellent and couldn't be improved! Price-performance/quality is perfect here! If we are in Cologne again, a visit here is a must!!

Always wanted to try this restaurant chain. Rump steak 300g was great and fried perfectly. Side dish portions are very manageable and the Caesar salad was smaller than the side salad. 8.90€ to 5.70€ The filet plate with potato gratin and seasonal vegetables was also more of a pensioner's or children's plate portion. The meat was great, potato gratin and the vegetables were more like Solala! Very disappointing for such a chain with this name! The rose wine 🍷 was more cheap vinegar! Sorry, that should work better. The service was friendly and on point! Unfortunately the volume was also more of a drawback and that too can be done differently!!! The view from the window seats of Rufolfplatz from the 1st floor was great!😀👍🏻 All in all, a €112 experience for us that we don't need to revisit. There are better alternatives! But everyone feels it differently!

Block House ist schon seit über 15 Jahren ein fester Bestandteil, bisher immer in Stuttgart. Endlich kommen wir in Köln auch wieder in den Genuss. Egal ob Geburtstag, Betriebsfeiern, Jahrestag etc. Hier kommen wir immer wieder gerne essen. Der Service ist toll und das Essen immer frisch und lecker.

Wenn man richtig gutes Fleisch, frischen Salat und andere sehr gute Beilagen essen möchte, geht man ins Blockhaus Köln. Und im besten Fall wird man von Iwan begrüßt und bestens versorgt; zuvorkommend, freundlich und superflott. Bester Mann im Blockhaus!

Wir waren zum erstenmal dort und sehr begeistert! Tolle ausgefallene, aber sehr, sehr schmackhafte Gerichte werden dort angeboten! Superleckere Steaks hat mein Partner gegessen und ich....eine Cheesburger o h n e Deckel:) Der Kellner hat mich extra darauf hingewiesen, daß die Hamburger dort n u r ohne Deckelbrot serviert werden, immer offen, es besteht nur das Unterteil aus Bro! Ich muss sagen ich war zuerst sehr skeptisch, aber nach den ersten Bissen total begeistert, einfach sagenhaft ein Gedicht!!! Resümeè; wir werden jetzt öfters dort Speisen gehen!!!

Ich gehe so gerne zu Block House, weil man in jedem Laden die gleiche Qualität und das gewohnte Menü bekommt. Was ich aber zum ersten Mal bekommen habe, ist Ivan. Ivan war mit Abstand der aufmerksamste, eloquenteste und netteste Kellner, denn ich seit sehr langer Zeit kennenlernen durfte. Klar - das Essen war auch wieder super. Wie immer bei mir das American Tenderloin mit dem Avocado-Tartar vorweg. MEGA! Aber Ivan hat es wirklich gerockt! Danke für den tollen Abend - sicher nicht zum letzten Mal!!

Das Essen ist genau do wie in den anderen Filialen, allerdings sind die Portionen kleiner. Die Qualität der Ware ist 👍 uns alles ist frisch zubereitet. Bei meinem Kollegen war der Garpunkt des Steaks nicht so getroffen, wie es bestellt wurde (Medium bestellt, Medium-Rare bekommen) - für mich selbst war es aber perfekt so. Preis-Leistung stimmt für mich und ich komme gerne wieder 👍 Update: Bier leider nicht richtig temperiert, schon mehrfach vorgekommen. Und abends, am Wochenende, gehe ich dort nicht mehr hin. Es ist extrem laut, Atmosphäre dann wie in einer Bahnhofshalle. Und wenn ich sehe, wie unprofessionell und unbeholfen an dieser Getränke-Station gearbeitet wird - unfassbar. Update: Bereits zum zweiten Mal war der Service, nach dem der Hauptgang serviert wurde, plötzlich quasi nicht mehr vorhanden. 20 Minuten auf die Rechnung gewartet, mit leeren Gläsern. Und für ein 0,2l Kölsch nehmen die mittlerweile 2,80€ - das empfinde ich als Wucher. Dafür war dieses Mal der Garpunkt des Filet perfekt getroffen, es war richtig lecker!

Ich besuche das Block House schon seit 20 Jahren in verschiedenen Filialien und ich bin beeindruckt, auf was für eine hohe Qualität an Service man sich hier verlassen kann. So ein konstantes Maß an Freundlichkeit, Menschlichkeit und Zuvorkommen über so viele Mitarbeitende verteilt ist wirklich ein Lob wert. Vielen Dank an Enzo, der mein hohes Bild vom Personal des Block Houses wieder einmal bestätigt hat.

Wir haben im Block House sehr leckeres Steak und einen Burger gegessen. Bedient wurden wir von Enzo, der ein fantastischer, sehr freundlicher, lustiger und zuvorkommender Gastgeber ist. Danke, wir kommen wieder!
