BierCafé West in Dortmund

I used this event space for a training course and was very satisfied. The atmosphere is pleasant and quiet – ideal for focused work. The service was very attentive, the room was well-equipped, and the restrooms were clean. The included vegan lunch (served as an attractive plated meal) was delicious. A definite recommendation for events in Dortmund!

Lovely location near Westpark with very attentive and friendly service. The menu is varied and the prices are reasonable. I can recommend it without reservation! 🙂

Well, the beer here was nothing special. I ordered two beers, Zwickel and Budvar, both still. They're supposed to have 20 beers, but two of them were nothing.

Together with a friend from the US, we drove from Essen to Dortmund again to enjoy a delicious schnitzel and try some new beers. You can order various beers in small glasses (see photo), drink freshly tapped beers, or drink bottles and cans. The service was super friendly and attentive. The place is great for any weather. Attention Untappd users! There's a badge here! 😉

We were there with a large group. The buffet was delicious, made to order. The taste was excellent. Excellent service. Beautiful location.

We were there this Sunday afternoon, eight people, including children! After we sat at a large table and after half an hour, there was still no waiter, I went to the counter to complain why no one was coming to the table. After a waiter finally came and took our entire order, we waited another three-quarters of an hour for the food to arrive. The problem was that a meal was missing. The waiter immediately wanted to make sure the missing food arrived as quickly as possible. I was just told to be patient. Half an hour later, the food still wasn't there! The waiter came by and said the chefs had taken care of it, but it hadn't been delivered. I was told to be patient again! Another 20 minutes later, the waiter came by again and asked me if the food was still not there! My counter question: You're the waiter, aren't you? Who brought it? He cooks or ghosts? Waiter goes back to the kitchen! Waiter comes and tells me to be patient. It's being done. Okay, I said I want to pay immediately and I want to leave. The way you treat your guests is outrageous. Or do you think I should go to the kitchen and ask for a chef because I ordered almost two hours ago and finally get...

The waitress was completely overwhelmed. Furthermore, she was very rude. When a waiter (in this case, more like a plate taxi) makes a mistake, they should apologize professionally rather than confront the customer. That's what happens when businesses employ inexperienced staff instead of trained employees.

A truly wonderful café! The atmosphere is incredibly cozy and invites you to simply lose track of time. The food is fresh, delicious, and prepared with love. I would especially like to highlight the friendly and attentive staff; you immediately feel welcome here. Highly recommended; I always enjoy coming back! A real insider tip for tourists, but certainly also for locals. Here, you can sit quietly with a view of Westpark. There's a small play area for children, and the selection of drinks and food is excellent.

I'm thrilled. The customer is king here. The food is top-notch, the drink selection is simply phenomenal, and the prices are very reasonable. Getting a table for 20 people at short notice wasn't a problem at all, not because it was quiet, but because there's plenty of space inside and out. Still, it's very quaint and cozy. We were able to really let loose with guitars, piano, and singing. Thanks again for that 😘

In the center of Dortmund, where the cityscape is both rugged and welcoming, lies the BierCafé West – a place that aims to create the illusion of coziness and honest cuisine. But, as so often happens, there's a deep gap between desire and reality – and in this case, it's filled with fryer oil. I ordered a schnitzel. I expected crispiness, succulence, that down-to-earth comfort that a good schnitzel can provide. What arrived, however, was a memory of something that might once have been meat, but now, in shape and taste, resembled a deep-fried shoe sole. Dry, tough, flavorless – a breaded version of culinary existentialism. But I wasn't the only one affected. My companion – hungry for freshness and lightness – opted for a salad as her main course. What arrived was the green equivalent of our disappointment: a carelessly thrown-together pile of bland insignificance. No composition, no texture, no variety of flavors. A plate that seemed more like a chore than an invitation to indulgence. And that was the main course. As much as the kitchen failed, the service was just as sincere. The young waiter – eager, friendly, noticeably overwhelmed – tried with empathy to salvage what was barely salvageable. But he was alone. Far too few staff for too many guests, too many plates, too many disappointed glances. He walked, he smiled, he apologized. You could sense that he wanted to give more than the system allowed. It was a silent drama unfolding – one that can't be blamed on the staff, but rather on a structure that apparently doesn't have enough hands for the number of plates. Between empty glasses and hungry tables next to him, it became clear that the real deficiency lay not in commitment, but in organization.

A very good and constantly changing craft beer selection with 20 draft beers, a nice children's play area (indoors) and a playground (outdoors). The food is always perfect. Personal recommendation: Currywurst (double) and Manti.

The Biercafé is one of our favorite cafés in the city. A visit to the park often leads to the Biercafé. They serve delicious beer, delicious coffee, and the food is also delicious. It's run by very friendly owners who have a very nice team on their side.

Very friendly staff. Good value for money. Live music is offered. The terrace is very cozy, south-facing, overlooking Westpark. Good international beer selection. 20 beers are on tap, and they change regularly. There's also a delicious house beer. The menu ranges from currywurst (very tasty) to small Turkish specialties. A selection of homemade cakes is also available.

A very nice place to linger, with a view of the greenery. Delicious coffee and homemade cakes. You'll also find great food, from snacks to varied main courses. Beer lovers will get their money's worth here, thanks to the extensive selection. Incidentally, the staff are always friendly and accommodating. Even if there's something to complain about, they're always willing to listen. If you don't feel comfortable here, you won't feel comfortable anywhere else.

Without the Biercafe, there's no Westpark. Kevin is the best!

I had a reservation at this café and was seated on their outdoor wooden benches. Unfortunately, the resin on the benches had become sticky due to the heat, causing my clothes to adhere to the surface. As a result, my new trousers were completely ruined — the stains are impossible to remove. While the staff was friendly and tried to assist, the management refused to take any responsibility for the damage caused. I find it unacceptable that no solution or compensation was offered for something that was entirely beyond my control and clearly the result of poor maintenance. This experience completely overshadowed my visit. Guests should not have to worry about ruining their clothes simply by sitting down. They have responded below, claiming that they offered compensation, but this is simply not true. Yes, I was given a free beer, but that was something a staff member offered on their own initiative, not something the management arranged or approved. What bothers me even more is that they are now trying to lie about supposedly offering compensation. That kind of dishonesty only adds to the disappointment.

Forgot beer, forgot mayo. Had to ask several times and then cheekily ask for a tip... You have to have the courage :D

The café has a pleasant, welcoming atmosphere. The steakhouse fries are very good, and the selection of Turkish dishes makes you want to try different dishes. Especially convenient for families: There's a large, fenced-in play area outside and a small play corner inside. This way, children can have fun while parents relax and enjoy their meal.

I love the Bier-Café-West! I'm addicted to waffles; they're the tastiest in all of Dortmund. The service is friendly, the seating is cozy. And not to mention, the food is amazing, which is why we celebrated our daughter's confirmation here.

A cafe on the edge of Westpark. The schnitzel wasn't worth mentioning; for the price, I definitely expected better quality. The breading was neither crispy nor golden brown. Definitely a rather poor schnitzel in terms of quality and taste. Better to stay away; you won't get a decent schnitzel here! Some of the potatoes were still raw, unfortunately. The curry sauce was good 👍 Atmosphere, well, Westpark, you know. Beautiful greenery – with plenty of colorful culture. Quite nice for a beer, but less recommended for anything else.

The food is great (we were able to watch fresh vegetables being brought into the kitchen) and the atmosphere invites you to linger.

A perfect oasis in the heart of Dortmund! Great view of Westpark. Very friendly staff, a wide selection of food and drinks with excellent value for money. The large and always freshly selected draft beers are particularly cool. Good service: a charging station for e-bikes. The large hall is also ideal for family events or parties. We always enjoy visiting the BierCafé West in Castrop and highly recommend the pleasant location!

A really great café that has an outrageous number of beers 🍻 - the decision is always difficult because so many beers 🍺 sound great! The food 🍽️ is in no way inferior to the beer! Great little things for smaller hungers and even large meals can be easily found here 🫶🏻 An absolute 🔝 recommendation!

Worst service ever. Nowhere else do you have to wait so long for fries and Bionade. On top of that, everyone was annoyed and unfriendly.

The café is located in the middle of Westpark and, especially when it is warmer, you can sit on the terrace. The selection of beer is indescribably large. There are also cakes and other smaller dishes. So far everything I have ordered has been to my complete satisfaction and absolutely delicious. The team is super attentive and friendly. The fair prices are definitely worth mentioning here.

Wonderful place to let time pass

We were there for dinner with a group of 29 people. Very friendly staff and the food was delicious and everything was delivered quickly. Getting to know the different types of beer was very interesting. I can only recommend it

We didn't eat there, which was probably better in terms of time. We all got our drinks, only my child had to wait 25 minutes for a hot chocolate. Then we paid and of course we didn't pay for the chocolate because it never came. According to the waitress because the employees are overwhelmed behind the counter. To make matters worse, I paid too much for two drinks, it was noticed when my girlfriend paid for exactly the same drinks and she should have paid a lot less. I then got back what I overpaid. We're never coming back.

What a great beer garden and in the middle of Dortmund (me as a Schalke player) the food is very tasty and the beer selection is great! The types of beer change here every now and then! I can recommend the new Vista! The service force is nice and fast! The food is delicious and even faster and the price is simply great! We're coming back to the Forbidden City! The food is great, but unfortunately the service is disastrous. I visited a friend in Dortmund who previously said that it always takes so long to order there. Due to the lack of alternatives and the sunshine, we still sat on the well-filled terrace. After I asked inside to place my order, someone came. When asked which cakes there were, the answer was “you have to look inside, I don’t know what has already been cleaned up”. Cappuccino “would take longer”, waffles too. So we decided to have the cake at the next table. “I don't know if it's still there,” said the waiter - but I just saw it inside. At some point the two cappuccinos arrived. When we thought that the cake would also be served to our table, there was tea with it, which is why the waiter wasn't sure whether the pieces of cake were really for us and went back in with the whole order. I asked whether table numbers were used. Yes, we also had one noted. The cake was then very tasty. But the service could be organized a little better, e.g. divided according to table numbers. Even when it's full.

The food is good, and the service is very friendly. It's very pleasant both inside and out. When it's busy, it can get noisy, which might be a bit unpleasant for those sensitive to noise. The prices are moderate, and otherwise, it's highly recommended.
