Bhojans - Traditional & Authentic south Indian 100% Vegetarian in Düsseldorf

If you want homely food when you are in Düsseldorf, this is the place. Its a family run restaurant. They are extremely friendly. They need 1 or 2 more waiters to serve the guests. Unfortunately it takes a lot of time to get your food. THALI SOUTH INDIAN :The sambar and kootu were watery. There Was only 1 sabzi provided. Paruppu podi was missing and there was no joghurt provided as mentioned in the menu. This unlimited meal cannot be compared with an unlimited meal provided by saravana bhavan at Frankfurt or other south indian Restaurants for example. This is like a home food with less spice levels, the price could have been a little lesser. Ambience is great and the toilets are clean. Parking is difficult on weekends. Reserving a table would be better since the restuarant is not so big.

Authentic and delicious South Indian food - highly recommended. The people who own it (and serve as well) are extremely kind too! It’s authentic so you should expect it to be spicy.

This evening, my partner and I dined at Bhojans, arriving just half an hour before closing. While many restaurants at that hour tend to run out of their main dishes, Bhojans still offered their full menu. The warm hospitality, coupled with truly authentic flavors, made the experience memorable. The sambhar was rich and aromatic, the uthappam perfectly crisp on the outside yet soft within. A delightful culinary experience absolutely worth trying.

I was thrilled with my visit! The food was excellent and fresh, prepared with love, and tasted at the highest level. The service was attentive, friendly, and warm, without being intrusive. You can feel the passion that goes into their work. The ambiance was also very cozy and inviting; you immediately feel at home.

They have some thali options and I really liked those ones ... You can also order it separately the dosa and vada but their lunch thali is a must try

Based on the online reviews. Today I visited with my friends with high expectations, which unfortunately weren't met by the food. The sambar was watery and resembled rasam, while the rasam itself tasted like plain turmeric water. I don't have comments on the kootu or rose milk. Which is very horrible.. The only items we enjoyed were the curd, pickle, and pappad, luckily which are ready made one. Overall, it was a complete disappointment regarding the main dishes. I don’t recommend this restaurant.

Worst food ever tasted in my life that too Tamilnadu style food and the restaurant, unfortunately / with more curious we ordered Thali. it's come with liquid sambar, liquid kootu, and rasam is like a finger bowl water..

We were there last night with our young daughter and a business friend – we were absolutely thrilled! The service was fantastic, even our allergies were taken seriously, and everyone found something delicious on the menu. Excellent value for money, and the Indian drinks are also a special recommendation. We'll definitely be back!

Food is below average. Dosa, Vada, rice everything is acceptable but mango lassi is one of the worst I have ever had in Germany. It’s sweet flavoured water literally. It’s not mango lassi at all.

Really good South Indian food for a quite reasonable price. The atmosphere is quite good, even though it’s a bit small. The staff is very friendly and attentive. The waiting time is not too much, but the food is good! Even when we order more food, they came quickly. Overall, it was good and will definitely go back again.

The food was below average for me. Some people can say it's homely food. For me, it was more like Indian hostel food. The Dosa I ordered was made using over sour batter. The chutnies and sambar were also not at all good. So for me it wasn't a good experience.

Fabulous homely food, soul satisfying!

After seeing all the good reviews, we decided to have lunch at Bhojans. Really liked the menu as it was all vegetarian and each dish was neatly explained. Was surprised to even see germans trying out Kuzhipaniyaram (Traditional South indian rice balls). We ordered mysore dosai (indian savoury crepes), pongal vadai (lentil rice with south indian doughnuts), and idli vadai combo (Rice cakes) . In terms of taste, I liked the dosai and the chutneys served. Also, the pongal was spot on. The sambar (veggie stew) was quite runny and bland, I expected a thicker stew than the runny one to be had with dosai. Also, we felt the pricing of each dish was as comparable to the ones that you can get in Munich, which is quite expensive for Düsseldorf. Overall, the owners were quite sweet, and I am happy they are serving traditional tamizh cuisine in germany.

I went there today with a friend and trust me, they serve really good south indian food. The taste was on spot and is affordable. The granny there is super sweet as well, was giving me my Nana vibes 😊💐 HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Unfortunately a bit disappointing. No heat, not particularly spicy, there were the same dips for the first course and main course.

We had the mini menu once and a potato curry. Both dishes tasted good, but were definitely too spicy for us. Unfortunately, there were no indications of this on the map. We probably should have gotten better advice here. The prices are reasonable. The staff is very friendly.

Homely looking food. I had Sunday thali, for the price I expected more authentic south Indian curries and better taste of things like vegetable curries, sambhar, kottu etc. they were all just average and felt watered down in some cases. Filter coffee was good. The staff was quite courteous.

I ordered a veg thali which reminded me of home made daily food. But for the price I expect better variety- at least two seasonal vegetables should be included.

Authentic homely delicious food. We tried various types of dosas, idlis and deserts too. The paneer soda was great. Their service is excellent. Very warm and generous people who are always smiling and treats you kindly. Great place to have homely delicious South Indian cuisine. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!

Much much better than any south indian restaurant in Germany

I ordered the limited thali (meals). I started my meal with Kootu and Beans fry. I loved it. I then proceeded to drink Rasam as I was craving something hot and spicy on this cold day. The Garlic rasam was just out of this world. I could sense the release of air pressure in my ear holes. The chef certainly smashed the balance. At this point, I decided that this was my favorite dish. Simply the best! Little did I know that I was going to be blown away even more by the Aubergine Sambar!! I was lucky to taste these dishes with these specific vegetables as I am well aware that the taste of these dishes keep varying each day based on the choice of vegetables. The food just cleansed my soul a bit today. 🙏

Food tasted like eating at home, and every single dish was handcrafted with love 🥰 Unique items like Paneer Soda and Paal kova are some stuff you'll never get anywhere in Germany, and they tasted fabulous too 😍 Overall, a highly recommended place (even if you have to take a detour) for anyone who wants authentic South Indian food!! ❤️

Authentic steaming hot South Indian food!! The food was so good that we just ate it down almost instantly and wanted to keep ordering. Visited recent with friends and had a very pleasant and positive experience. The staff was extremely friendly and the food was top class. The taste of the food is genuine, and it's in a league well above other Indian restaurants.

Authentic South Indian cuisine with various dishes. The three of us ate there and were very satisfied. The service was also good. It may take a little longer for the food to arrive, but it is freshly prepared. Only the dessert, carrot halwa, was way too sweet, extremely sweet.

Came here because I was craving South Indian food, and definitely did not disappoint! Ordered a ghee podi dosa, which was spicy and crispy, a filter coffee and curd vadai. Service was super friendly and helpful, and the ambience had a cozy/homely feel to it. Well definitely visit again next time in Düsseldorf

Extraordinary food! The taste, quality, and quantity of food & drinks I tried was excellent ! The staff was polite, owners actively work in the restaurant. I personally recommend the podi onion uthapam & nannari sarbat. Be sure to reserve your table as they are overwhelmed by the number of visitors. Unfortunately they had to turn away a few people due to unavailability of seats.

I don’t know who is rating Bhojan's food so high. We didnt like the food at all. Mysore masala dosa was not upto mark. vada was edible. mango shake was terrible and had smell of different masala substance. If someone really want to enjoy south indian food, I would rather suggest going to Chennai Chef in cologne.

One of the best South Indian places I have been to In Germany so far. Small and cozy place conveniently located. Medhu vada is must try. Prices are perfectly okay. All the food including idlis was freshly prepared. Portion size is also perfect. Would surely love to visit again.

Really new kind of experience with the price being reasonable, every plate is special, and perfectly spiced. There are manyyy many options to choose from and some plates that only is available on certain days which is really fun! my only criticism would be the portions felt relatively small? More people should visit here though because it's such a nice small vegetarian corner.

Idéal location, with road side paid parking facility. Food was truly authentic and flavourful. Well thought out menu and pleasant ambience. Their oothappam combo was fluffy and cooked well. Must visit place if you are looking for south Indian food.

I was blown away by the authentic flavour of Pongal, which you get only at exceptional restaurants in Tamil Nadu . The no-nonsense atmosphere and excellent service made the experience even better. With a concise menu, you know you're getting the best from the chef. The Pongal was the highlight—absolutely top-notch—appreciated by both my wife and mom. The Kuzhi Paniyaram and Dosa were also fantastic. Sambhar was just good. I’ll definitely be back!

Vegan and vegetarian Indian restaurant...

We were lucky to find a pure vegetarian restaurant and the food was so tasty. We had paniyaaram, masala ghee dosai and a limited thaali. The flavours were authentic and fresh. It is a really family atmosphere and the restaurant displays nice paintings done by the owner’s daughter which again gives a personal touch. Thank you so much.

It serves truelly a 100 % authentic south Indian taste. One must try their Masala dosa and Mysore dosa. Sambhar and white chutney taste is so delicious.

I visited Sunday, couple of weeks back. I ordered idli and vada. The vada were smelling bad. I think they were using the same oil to deep fry for quite a number of times and days. Someone has to advise the restaurant owners that in Germany food inspection is quite serious and make way for huge fines. When being in Germany, and representing Indian food, providing these type of cheap food doesn’t make good for the restaurant. Hope the restaurant owners learn and be a true ‘athidhi devo bhava’. Reply to Bhojans: I am talking about smell, not about shape to take a picture. I don't live in your town, i just visited your restaurant on my way to my town. I do not have any personal grudge to write a review without visiting your restaurant. I have written this review so that you improve your food’s quality standards, and also most importantly to alert other customers who visit you to be extra careful. If you continue like this, there is no need for me to report to concerned food inspectors, rather they would surely find you one day.

Service was nice, but since there are very few tables the atmosphere is a bit intimate and quiet. You have to like the food, otherwise there isn't much variety and choice in the dishes.

Bhojans is really recommended. Tasty traditional Indian dishes at a reasonable price. We also went there on a recommendation. Particularly noteworthy is the friendly owner, who gave us detailed advice on our choice of dishes.

Ambience, the warm welcome and the taste of the food - all deserve 5/5. Whole menu had very less oil used, and the taste was very similar to home made. Definitely a must visit for pure vegetarians!

The Behavior of the staffs are very nice, the only good thing about the restaurant. Ordered Mango Lassi and Dosa. Tha lassi was good however the Dosa felt like the batter used is not fresh and very sour in taste. Also smelling like burnt oil used to make the Dosa.
