I don’t know who is rating Bhojan's food so high. We didnt like the food at all. Mysore masala dosa was not upto mark. vada was edible. mango shake was terrible and had smell of different masala substance. If someone really want to enjoy south indian food, I would rather suggest going to Chennai Chef in cologne.

It's one of most authentic South Indian restaurant in Germany. Everything is just perfect to an authentic taste. Very nice service, decor, cleanliness and welcoming gesture. Everything is delicious.

Food was in true sense satisfying. Home away from home. Warm hospitality.

One of the best South Indian places I have been to In Germany so far. Small and cozy place conveniently located. Medhu vada is must try. Prices are perfectly okay. All the food including idlis was freshly prepared. Portion size is also perfect. Would surely love to visit again.

Very tasty and authentic South Indian food. We had the masaldosai pictured, very tasty vadai and of course a mango lassi. We will definitely come back and can only recommend Bhojans

Really new kind of experience with the price being reasonable, every plate is special, and perfectly spiced. There are manyyy many options to choose from and some plates that only is available on certain days which is really fun! my only criticism would be the portions felt relatively small? More people should visit here though because it's such a nice small vegetarian corner.

Idéal location, with road side paid parking facility. Food was truly authentic and flavourful. Well thought out menu and pleasant ambience. Their oothappam combo was fluffy and cooked well. Must visit place if you are looking for south Indian food.

I was blown away by the authentic flavour of Pongal, which you get only at exceptional restaurants in Tamil Nadu . The no-nonsense atmosphere and excellent service made the experience even better. With a concise menu, you know you're getting the best from the chef. The Pongal was the highlight—absolutely top-notch—appreciated by both my wife and mom. The Kuzhi Paniyaram and Dosa were also fantastic. Sambhar was just good. I’ll definitely be back!

Vegan and vegetarian Indian restaurant...

We were lucky to find a pure vegetarian restaurant and the food was so tasty. We had paniyaaram, masala ghee dosai and a limited thaali. The flavours were authentic and fresh. It is a really family atmosphere and the restaurant displays nice paintings done by the owner’s daughter which again gives a personal touch. Thank you so much.

Such an amazing lunch and a warm welcome from the chef! Her story and menu are beautiful. We tried a variety of dishes and each one was a 10/10! We loved the variety of spice and rices. We will be back on our next trip!

It serves truelly a 100 % authentic south Indian taste. One must try their Masala dosa and Mysore dosa. Sambhar and white chutney taste is so delicious.

I visited Sunday, couple of weeks back. I ordered idli and vada. The vada were smelling bad. I think they were using the same oil to deep fry for quite a number of times and days. Someone has to advise the restaurant owners that in Germany food inspection is quite serious and make way for huge fines. When being in Germany, and representing Indian food, providing these type of cheap food doesn’t make good for the restaurant. Hope the restaurant owners learn and be a true ‘athidhi devo bhava’. Reply to Bhojans: I am talking about smell, not about shape to take a picture. I don't live in your town, i just visited your restaurant on my way to my town. I do not have any personal grudge to write a review without visiting your restaurant. I have written this review so that you improve your food’s quality standards, and also most importantly to alert other customers who visit you to be extra careful. If you continue like this, there is no need for me to report to concerned food inspectors, rather they would surely find you one day.

Service was nice, but since there are very few tables the atmosphere is a bit intimate and quiet. You have to like the food, otherwise there isn't much variety and choice in the dishes.

The service people were polite and friendly, the atmosphere was great. The food was delicious and menu had lot of varities, the prize was reasonable. Overall nice experience and would visit again soon.

Bhojans is really recommended. Tasty traditional Indian dishes at a reasonable price. We also went there on a recommendation. Particularly noteworthy is the friendly owner, who gave us detailed advice on our choice of dishes.

Ambience, the warm welcome and the taste of the food - all deserve 5/5. Whole menu had very less oil used, and the taste was very similar to home made. Definitely a must visit for pure vegetarians!

The Behavior of the staffs are very nice, the only good thing about the restaurant. Ordered Mango Lassi and Dosa. Tha lassi was good however the Dosa felt like the batter used is not fresh and very sour in taste. Also smelling like burnt oil used to make the Dosa.

Tried Tiffin Combo, the Pongal and vada was exceptionally good. Dosa could have been better. Idli was not so fresh. Also had snacks Mysore bonda and vadai, both were hot and crispy. Kesari bath was perfect, Carrot Halwa could have been better, it was too sweet and had lots of ghee. Overall the best South Indian food till date in Germany! A must try when in Düsseldorf.

The place has a very nice atmosphere, and as soon as you enter, you feel the aroma of home cooked meals. The food was absolutely delicious and reminded me of home. Honestly, I just compared it to home, does it need anything more to say? Missed my mom a little while eating. Actually the best South Indian food you can find in Europe.

We had lunch at bhojans. The owners are lovely warm and welcoming. Absolute home style south indian food, the best I have ever had in Germany. All portions were very generous.

New: Responding to response from Bhojan's: 13/05/2024- start---- 1) Not sure which dish I mentioned that you do not even serve, could you please specify. Moreover, in that case, it would be good for service to specify what is being served, since maybe I not that well versed. For my own understanding, maybe in a dm, could you please let me know what dishes were served, and how they correspond to what was mentioned in the menu? It is now donning on me that that “mooru Kozhambhu” might have been what is kootu, in which case, I should be rating it a 1 star. That was really bad. 2) I agree the day could have been a strenuous, and "off" day, but, not sure that is an good excuse in this case. Not being ignorant here, I really appreciate the effort one takes, however, we are customers too (I understand/ or am guessing you are refereeing to some catering orders, and booking you had that day), and we are paying the same that other's do. Anyway, okay, everyone has a bad day in the office, so, that's okay. 3) Sure, expectation and maybe reality differs, I understand. Still not sure what you mean by misrepresentations, I think I was honest, and clear on which dish we were served, and what was mentioned on the menu. If I am mistaken, I am all open to your thoughts, just for the next time :) Also, not sure if the response is complete, maybe missing some parts in your reply. Was expecting something special, and nice, especially since the reviews were great. Order kuzhipaniyaram, dosa, and the Sunday lunch thali. The thali - really disappointed with the Sambar (felt like there was a lot of water, and no salt, and hardly any taste, no vegetables or anything, more like “thanni” sambar), I think “moor kozhumbu” (this was sorry to say, but just water and pumpkins: possibly never had something this bad), and for poori : there was no curry, I mean, there was something like a dal, so, maybe that, but I have generally never had a thali with poori and dal as a curry. Moreover, maybe as a suggestion, it’s better to give a proper full piece of apalam, rather than giving quarter pieces. Not complaining, they served extra aplam when asked, no problems there, but just, it was a bit awkward for me to ask for extra pieces of apalam every time. Also, not sure if I was served 2 curries : only saw beans (which is okay), didn’t get another curry. And no kootu, and thayir, or parappu podi? I mean, what’s going on. The payasam was good, the poori itself was also good. The panniyaram was served hot, but was not so crispy and still felt a bit raw from inside. Taste was plain, but the chutney served as a side was good. The portions were very small not appropriate. This is unfortunate, but a recurring theme, please provide adequate portions. On a different note, no complaints about the service, they were friendly, prompt, and kind. I was just a bit disappointed with the food, which was okay at best, but mostly watery, bland, and a tasteless. Sorry for being a bit harsh, but this was a terrible meal, especially for a South India “homemade” meal. I wish I had taken a pic of the mooru kozhumbu, just fyi, it didn’t look anywhere close to many of the previous pics, neither did the sambar. Really disappointed, and I unfortunately would not be coming back, especially for the 21 euros for this thali, was a complete waste of money. I would like to hear back on this feedback, and hope this homemade business can get better. Wish for the best, hopefully, for better food the next time :)

Warm and welcoming, the owners are really kind and humble. The restaurant has a nice environment and the food gave us a homely feeling. Our cravings for authentic South Indian food were completely satiated. The Unlimited thali is the best option if you are really hungry and crave for good Indian food. Bhojans is the place to go when you are missing home cooked South Indian dishes! PS : sorry, no photos as we indulged in the food the moment they brought it to us! But next time for sure 😃

A really nice Indian restaurant which serves homely southern dishes catering to the pallet. A family run business with humble and sweet people catering you. Food is very authentic and not so 'spicy' as people presume Indian food to be. Dishes served have the same essence and flavour to it as back home, so must give it a try.

Really excellent and authentic South Indian specialties. I spent half a year in Chennai (South India) for work and think that I was able to gain a little experience with the local cuisine. At Bhojans I was transported back there in terms of taste. Thank you for the delicious food. We'd love to come back soon!

Excellent food - it really tastes home-made. The sambar, chutney especially was 11/10. Service is great too. Seating options are a little limited, so reservation recommended on weekends or for large parties.

The dishes are very authentic and delicious. Reminded me of my time in South India. The personnel is very friendly and courteous. In my opinion, prices are unbeatable for Düsseldorf. The space is kept simple, but in my opinion it is not the main focus. Always my pleasure!

The quality and flavour of the food is on another level. Everything is handmade, true home-style cooking, well explained on the menu, the staff is so friendly and helpful able to explain all the dishes to you and they have simply served the best indian food I ever had. One can clearly see that they have passion for what they are doing and care a lot about what they are serving. 10/10 recommending it to everyone with a heart for indian cuisine.

Such a humble restaurant and equally welcoming owners. I have been suggested to try the restaurant for some authentic South Indian food, and I finally managed to visit it with friends. The restaurant has a very home like feeling, clean, minimal setup and friendly environment and definitely a lot of Indian customers. The food we ordered was prepared fresh in the kitchen and was served with utmost importance for keeping the food warm. It makes me feel like I am back home with my mom. I will definitely want to visit them again.

Great, delicious food that tastes really exotic. It is a very simple cuisine, which is served perfectly prepared. However, there is a star deduction for a 0.33l wheat beer for 4.20 euros

Humble receiving..pleasant environment with decent ambience...Homely taste of south Indian vegetarian delicacies!! Reminded me of my granny back in India. No commercial taste at all...deceived by the parcel taste earlier but our typical South Indian pallette was satisfied when we dined in!! Sambar quantity is good and have to ask for more chutney as it is also gels good. 😉 Last touch of filter coffee is a must!! ☕ Missed a couple of years..will try to visit regularly going forward. 🤤🤤🤤

I am from Chennai and living in Germany I do not get many options to eat home food. Eating at Bhojans takes me back to my mom's kitchen. I had their mini meals and it was such a great deal. I recommend their filter coffee too. They make everything fresh. Looking forward to coming back again. 😊

It's never nice to leave a restaurant less than five stars. However, I think feedback is important...t The staff were excellent, the tastes of the food and the quality were good. However, it was simply overpriced and we left hungry. 21 euros for the Sunday special which sounded like a lot of food ended up being half a poppadom, two small breads and a few spoons of pototo with some rice. The rest of the plate was a selection of dips (and "curries" which were not substantial at all). I think if this had been from a food truck and cost less than 10 euros it would have been good value but not 21 on a restaurant setting. We also ordered a dosa plate which was better value but even does not enough to count as a meal...more like a snack which for 11 euros isn't satisfactory. A real shame as for bigger portions it would have changed the whole experience. Wishing you future success but won't be back.

Visited Bhojan's last year in August. I highly recommend this place for its authenticity and pricing. For about 12,30€, I was able to relish dosa and Idli-Vada mix. It was simply delicious. The ambience is decent considering it's a small restaurant. The location is quite afar from the city center but worth it. Quite satisfied with the experience and would love to visit again.

Place to be at to have best south indian food. Its authentic and you feel like home. Great taste and always served freshly made and hot.

Really delightful experience, great hospitality from the owners and high quality food. I went there especially for the Masala Dosa and it did not disappoint. Also had the Sambar which was nice. Was pleasantly surprised by the Mango Lassi though, I think their drinks are really good in general. What makes a good restaurant experience for me is how you feel in the environment and we felt welcomed, cared for and the food felt like home!

We ordered 4 vadai, appams and masala dosa the taste was delicious and reminded me of south india. Mrs Bhavani is really a great cook. We would deffi itely recommend this restaurant for people who love south indian cuisine.

This place is a gem. I was visiting Dusseldorf and got an upset stomach from the food I had earlier in a Mall's food court. I was looking for some light, warm, homemade style meals and thought of giving this place a try. I was mind blown by the quality and authenticity of food. A nice family-run restaurant serving authentic South Indian food made with quality ingredients.

This is probably the best South Indian restaurant you can find in Germany. The food is incredibly delicious and the most authentic South Indian food I had after a long time. Ms Banavi cooks food with love and it’s not a restaurant where things are cooked in bulk. Please try Podi Ghee Masala Dosa and Vada sambar. Such a refreshing place for brunch.

Overpriced dosa. Ordered ghee roast and expected it to be larger like when you get in Saravana Bhavan. But got an average sized dosa for 10.5 Euros. Waited for 40 minutes exactly to receive the dosa. Ate it in 3 minutes because I was too hungry at this point. To clarify for the reviews, I did ask the waiter girl before if the dosa is gonna be large and sufficient before ordering. And she assured me it's gonna be big :(. I was ready to order more but I didn't want to wait for another 45 mins to get it. And had i ordered another dosa it would still be not sufficient enough for dinner. Which means I have to order 3 dosas for 32 Euros? 32 Euros for one meal? No Thank You!!!! Do you guys consider yourself Michelin star restaurant for me to spend 30 Euros for one meal? This is a rip off. And so the award for the most disappointing meal I have ever eaten in Germany goes to Bojan. And not to forget sambar was watery and the dosa was sour. Made a mental note to myself to eat dosa in Saravana Bhavan next time or make it at home.

Best Indian food I’ve had in Düsseldorf! It’s light and not greasy. The papad alone blew my mind. I can’t wait to come back already! The mini meal is a good sample platter to try different things.

This restaurant has such good authentic South Indian food. I almost cannot believe that I would eat this soul Indian food in Germany. The owners are very nice and hospitable. Took no pictures because it was that great!

I have mixed review for this place. Not everything in the menu is great, You may have to be careful in what you order. Being a tamil restaurant as said by the owner, I was really excited to try the dishes I relish from TamilNadu. I ordered tomato rice and it was awesome. I ordered idli and vada. It was yuck. The sambhar was horrible, watery, no spices… not even curry leaf:). How can someone go wrong with coconut chutney? It was a bad choice to order. So think before you order. But staff is hospitable, welcoming and nice. I would still go back to try other receipe so from the menu…lemon rice next but nothing with Sambhar. 😀
