We made a reservation based on recommendations to try authentic Berlin cuisine. I ordered the pork knuckle, and although it was good, I've always preferred it roasted to boiled. What I didn't like at all was the pea puree that came with it. We also ordered a pork schnitzel, which was enormous and very tasty. The portions were very generous for the price. The service was excellent, especially from the brunette waitress; she treated us wonderfully. The meal, with a couple of Pepsis, a beer, and a coffee, along with the tip, came to €60. We had to walk quite a bit to work it off. I would definitely go back.

We came to try the vegan Currywurst and Schnitzel. The sausage was very tender and flavorful, much better than the street curry places. The schnitzel came with a delicious potato salad. We also had Apfelstrudel, which was amazing, all washed down with good German beer 👌

Good food, pleasant and comfortable atmosphere. We ate typical Berlin cuisine, which we found excellent. We agree, as other reviews point out, with the somewhat grumpy waitress. The price was also in line with expectations. Overall, good.

Historical Berlinner cuisine and experience. Tasty and different beer varieties as well as best of german dishes with a polite service . I would like to especially thank to my namesake Mr. Sinan Kaya who is the manager of this beatiful resraurant/bar for his well organized endeveour.

A pleasant brasserie on the banks of the Spree, just steps from Friedrichstrasse station. Fast and efficient service. Varied menu. A good place to eat.

We went there to try the schnitzel. It was really delicious. The location is also beautiful, by the river. The workers are smiling and always attentive. Just a bit overpriced for my taste.

We chose a dish to share. There were two of us, but it could easily be served up to three. We added a plate of typical German potato salad. The waiter, who spoke Spanish, was very kind and friendly. The beers (a blonde and a dark) were very good. I recommend this place 100%.

Although a bit noisy, Eiswein is fine. It's conveniently located and I liked that I could make reservations online. The servers were friendly and there was no discrimination against Asians, and most seemed to be German and European. This is my second visit, and I'll definitely come back if I ever return to Berlin.

We were here on a Sunday evening (reservations recommended), and it was very busy, but still pleasant. The service was extremely friendly, and everything was served fairly quickly, even though there weren't any free tables at the time. We enjoyed the beer exchange; it's fun to see which drinks are currently in demand. I had a Pornstar Martini, which was delicious, and the vegan currywurst, which was also very good. My companion also loved the food (the sausage platter for two). The only half-note would be about the music: they played pop hits from 10 years ago the whole time. I like that kind of music, but I don't think it was really appropriate 😁 Otherwise, we thought everything was great and would love to come back!

This was a great find. The bar was lively, the beer was great and there was football on the TVs. Frank looked after us really well.

We went there after 10 p.m. and it was really crowded, but we got a table and the service was good. They had a funny pricing system for the beer, like in the stock market. Overall, it's a nice place to have a drink.

The service was fast and staff super friendly. My friend ansd I ordered the delicious sausage platter for two. Needless to say they also have a fantastic beer selection. Try their börsenbier!

Great place for lunch! They just really have to do something about the yellow/ black wasps in that area, especially if you sit outside, it’s pretty bad. The service was amazing and the food was great! We loved it and couldn’t finish it.

Berliner Republik is a nice spot by the river with a relaxed atmosphere, perfect for enjoying a casual drink or meal. I had a beer and a wurst, which were okay, nothing too special but satisfying. The staff were fine, not overly engaging but polite enough. The main highlight here is definitely the location and vibe, making it a pleasant place to sit back and enjoy Berlin.

A local German restaurant. Unfortunately, if you ask for bottled beer, they bring it in a glass. It might be best to ask about this in advance.

The food was very good, but the outside tables are subject to a bee infestation. The location is nice.

I was really pleasantly surprised! The German dishes were super delicious and truly authentic. I also thought the prices were really fair for Berlin. Add to that the cozy atmosphere and friendly service, what more could you want? I highly recommend it if you're in the mood for good German cuisine.

Beautifully located by the water! Friendly service and good, original food, such as tarte flambée with currywurst and fries! Unfortunately, the meatballs seemed to have been heated in a deep fryer; the potato salad was good.

Wow, Mommy, how delicious was that mashed potato? We ordered the sausage mix, and I specifically asked for mashed potatoes because the mashed potatoes were so awful, and I wasn't expecting anything, but wow, they were so awful. I'll remember them on my deathbed. Cheers.

When in Berlin, I always enjoy watching football ⚽️, ordering "Berlin dishes" or traditional home cooking, along with a beer or other drinks. 😋 Direct seating and a view of the Spree in the outdoor area (opposite Friedrichstraße station). Friendly service. 😊 Beer market at certain times 🍻

It was lovely to eat by the river Spree at night, and there was so much going on that was entertaining. The food was delicious with decent-sized portions for the price. It was fascinating to see the stock market of beer working, although the bar staff were so busy we had to keep checking the price. We achieved a good discount on the drinks! The bar looks wonderful, like a traditional German bar. The owner Cinnan talked to us personally and was very charming! The only criticism I could make are that we waited a while for the meal, although we enjoyed ourselves trying the different craft beers. Fully recommended!

The food isn't bad, but people treat you like they do; it feels like you're doing them a favor by eating there. I've never seen such rude waiters and waitresses, especially a waitress who claims to be the manager! Go to the restaurant on the corner, because the food is very good and the waiters are extremely polite!

I'm always happy to return whenever I visit Berlin, and I've been doing so for many years. On my last visit in July 2025, I enjoyed every moment in the sunshine on the terrace right by the Spree. It's simply a wonderful spot, with an ambiance that's second to none. And the very attentive service and the delicious dishes, typical of the Berlin Republic, are part of the pampering experience. A well-deserved 5 stars from me.

Perfect stay and very tasty food

Traditional German dinner and beer, I tried the Königsberger Klopse and loved it! The girls serving were also very polite! I want to taste more from the meals they offer, so I’ll be going back for sure!

The waiters were terrible. We waited outside for 15 minutes to get seated but the waiters did not come to us and even went past us. The food was moderate, not really amazing as everyone else described. After the meal, when we were trying to get the bill, the waiter practically forced us to give them a tip when we didn't want to cause of their terrible service, and was saying that he did nothing wrong and demanded us to give him a tip. It was the worst experience we had in Berlin, never going back again.

Well, yes, the Berliner Republik is actually a cool place: beautiful interior, friendly staff, relaxed people – you immediately feel at home. But: When I first saw the beer menu, I thought, "Wow, so many on tap!" ... until I realized that quantity doesn't always equal quality. Unfortunately, it's more quantity than quality – less would definitely be more. Or simply better beer and not the cheap ones.... And now for the final boss: the restrooms. Guys, seriously – those things are like a trip back to the 90s, and not in a good way. They smell unpleasant, look like old school restrooms, and really take the shine off the place. My tip: A little love (and investment) in the restroom, plus a few better beers – and voila, the Republik is back in the game. 😉

Salad for over 16 euros, leaf lettuce with very coarse ingredients (I've never experienced that anywhere else), bland, small, and boring. Unfortunately, I had just ordered and then wanted to wash my hands. When I opened the restroom door, I was hit by the smell of urine. I immediately left. Soup was served lukewarm, and Jubi was also lukewarm, instead of cold. What a waste, and I'm still hungry.

The waitress's response was "it's just a wasp, kill it!". We were swarmed by wasps and I'm allergic, so I'm scared of them. I got up because there was a wasp in my hair and the waitresses laughed at me."

We ate very well. The goulash was excellent.

We had a wonderful lunch at the Berliner Republik! Upon entering, we received a very warm welcome and were shown directly to a table by the water – the outdoor seating right on the Spree is simply unique. The food was absolutely delicious: The currywurst with fries was a real hit, and my wife was especially enthusiastic about the original Berliner Buletten (Berliner meatballs). A true taste sensation! The only minor criticism: Unfortunately, the only Coke option is Pepsi. We're neither fans of Pepsi nor Schwipp Schwapp. Perhaps it would be a great idea to add Paulaner Spezi to the menu instead – it would perfectly complement the food and the location. Apart from that, we were thoroughly satisfied with our stay – great food, a fantastic view, and a friendly team. We'll definitely be back and can recommend the Berliner Republik to anyone looking for good food in a unique location!

A must-have in Berlin, an old traditional restaurant. Beer prices are constantly changing (beer exchange).

Its only advantage is its location on the banks of the Spree River and its open-air atmosphere. However, many places in the same area offer these qualities. The Apfelstrudel might have been our preferred choice in the evening, but it wasn't fresh. The cocktails were good. The service was very slow and lacking, and despite this, they made a fait accompli for the tipple during the check. For a sit-down meal and a few drinks in the evening, other places are preferable; I don't recommend it.

Always worth a visit... right on the Spree

It was our first night in Berlin and the hotel reception recommended that we try this restaurant. I wasn’t disappointed. I had grilled sausage and I was able to choose to have just one sausage (or 2, or 3) which came with sauerkraut and potato. It was yum and the price was good. Hubby had liver which had a delicious gravy (mine did too) and mashed potatoes. It was good.

I was looking for typical German cuisine and I found it! Among all those Turkish, Indian, Chinese, and other restaurants, it was a pleasant discovery! The food is excellent and the staff is friendly! Great value!

Stumbled upon this place during a downpour, and I'm so glad we ended up here! Has a great atmosphere, the service was amazing, the menu had all the German classics as well as a seasonal supplement (chanterelle mushrooms were the catch of the day!) and the beer list is extensive. We had our teens with us and they were made to feel as welcome as anyone there. The server even offered us a better table when it became available after we had been seated. A great spot on the Spree.

A true German culinary experience. On the second day of my family trip to Berlin, I had the opportunity to sample their wonderful veal schnitzel. They have a great concept, serving their beer in small beer glasses. If the weather is nice, I definitely recommend enjoying your meal by the river. The staff is friendly, helpful, and family-friendly.

We went here for a drink on Friday evening. We sat outside and had a great time watching the Hertha Berlin game. We liked the service and atmosphere so much that we ate here on Saturday evening. I had the solyanka as a starter and the veal liver as a main course. Both were delicious. When the very attentive waiter (I think his name was Saitful?) asked me whether I wanted the liver cooked medium or well done, I knew it would be great. It was spot on, and the sauce was divine. We would eat with you again on our next visit to Berlin.
