Schon ewig nicht mehr so gut gegessen. Der Koch ist spitze. Und das Personal super freundlich und kompetent. Kann ich nur weiterempfehlen. Saulecker!!!! Super Qualität.

Bei schönem Wetter kann man draußen auf der Terrasse sitzen und hat einen tollen Ausblick ins Tal. Der Service ist sehr freundlich und schnell. Der Koch ist hier sehr um seine Gäste bemüht und kommt persönlich an den Tisch, um etwas für Gäste mit Unverträglichkeiten oder Allergien anbieten zu können. Das Essen- Schäuferla Rouladen, Lachsforelle- ist hervorragend und für's Auge schön angerichtet. Absolut empfehlenswert!

Wir waren eine Wandergruppe von acht Personen und hatten uns diesen Gasthof ausgesucht. Wir meldeten uns an und fragten, ob wir um 14:30 Uhr noch Mittagessen bekommen könnten. Für den Wirt und den Chef war das überhaupt kein Problem: „Kommt vorbei, bei uns bekommt jeder jederzeit etwas zu essen.“ Sehr gastfreundlich, nett und hilfsbereit. Sogar der Koch kam aus der Küche und fragte nach, ob alles geschmeckt hat. Ein sehr gutes Lokal, das man auf jeden Fall weiterempfehlen kann.

Essen spitze. Hab "Schäuferla" bestellt. Soße auch super lecker. Service top - sehr aufmerksam! Sogar der Chef (Koch) hat sich bei allen Gästen persönlich erkundigt, ob alles in Ordnung ist. ...und der Ausblick bis Nürnberg ist unbezahlbar! Klasse - absolut empfehlenswert!

Traumhafte Aussicht, leider trotz Reservierung 2,5 Stunden auf Standardgerichte gewartet, dir Tische zum und wurden vorher bedient, kamen teils eine Stunde nach unserer Bestellung. Die armen Bedienungen völlig überfordert. Leider trotzdem ein No-Go.

Bitte nicht auf die vorherigen Rezensionen hören! Die Herrschaften waren mit über 30 Personen da – ich gehe doch nicht in eine Wirtschaft, um innerhalb einer Stunde zu essen und sofort wieder zu gehen! Wir waren ebenfalls mit 25 Leuten dort und ich kann mich absolut nicht beklagen. Die Bedienungen waren alle sympathisch und super nett, vor allem Jenni! ​Wegen der Leute, die diese schlechten und unbegründeten Rezensionen geschrieben haben, hatte Jenni keine Gelegenheit mehr, mich zu bedienen, was mich sehr wütend gemacht hat. Für ihre unmöglichen und respektlosen Aussagen gegenüber dem Personal hätten sie eigentlich Hausverbot bekommen sollen! Das Essen war 1A – ich habe selten so ein gutes Lendchen gegessen! 1. Mai, sicherlich viele Besucher. Jedoch 1 Stunde und 10 Minuten auf das zweite Bier warten. Essensbestellung ist immer noch nicht da, gleicher Zeitraum. Ich weiß nicht, ob das eine Werbung für dieses Lokal ist.

Sehr gutes fränkisches Essen. Bei schönem Wetter traumhafter Biergarten mit sagenhaften Blick aufs Schnaittacher Tal. Am besten immer vorher reservieren wenn möglich! Lokal kann auch für private Veranstaltungen gebucht werden. Für Extrawünsche hat der Chef immer ein offenes Ohr.

Haben Gasthof zufällig bei einer Ausfahrt entdeckt. Zuvor gerade Mittag gegessen also nur 2 Aperol bestellt. Toller Ausblick und netter Service von der Eigentümerfamilie. Wir kommen mit leerem Magen wieder.

Waren heute Abend zum Essen dort. Hab lange nicht mehr sooooo nen leckeren Sauerbraten gegessen, war wie bei Oma 😍. Schäuferle war auch super. Bedienung war sehr freundlich und der Chef kam auch immer mal wieder und hat sich erkundigt ob alles passt. Das war nicht das letzte Mal das wir da zum Essen waren. Sehr zu empfehlen 👍

The restaurant is located on Rothenberg hill in Schnaittacher. Parking is available directly in front. Friendly service, delicious and freshly prepared food. Beautiful panoramic views while dining. We stopped here after our tour of the fortress (reservations are recommended). The prices are higher than in comparable restaurants, but in my opinion, they are justified by the generous portion sizes and quality. We will gladly return.

A very beautiful mountain inn that deserves its name and is worth the climb. You receive a friendly welcome right away. The country-style decor is absolutely in keeping with the concept. This is evident throughout, including the food and drinks. They serve top-quality, home-style cooking from a local butcher. The drinks are the same. There's beer from the Weißenoher Klosterbrauerei and non-alcoholic organic lemonades from Lammsbräu. All in all, a very beautiful inn. I'd be happy to come back.

We celebrated my husband's 40th birthday at the Berggasthof am Rothenberg – and it was simply perfect! The location is a dream – with an incredible view that absolutely thrilled our guests. A huge compliment to Mr. Engelhardt, who was super friendly, uncomplicated, and helpful from the very beginning – the organization was completely stress-free. The food was amazing – fresh, delicious, and prepared with lots of love. We'll definitely be back!

Absolutely recommended! The friendly service immediately makes you feel welcome upon entering. The kitchen impresses with fresh dishes that are absolutely stunning in both taste and quality. The Sauerbraten sauce is the best I've ever tasted – simply a delight! In addition to the excellent food, the inn offers good value for money. Another highlight is the beautiful view over Schnaittach, which rounds off the visit and creates a particularly cozy atmosphere. All in all: If you value delicious food, an inviting ambiance, and warm hospitality, you should definitely stop here. Unfortunately, only open on Sundays and public holidays. Reservations recommended.

Unfortunately, this is more show than substance. The Kartoffelgröstl is simply a combination of hash browns with Asian-flavored soft-boiled vegetables and salad, all topped with balsamic sauce. The service is disorganized and slightly intrusive.

Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with the food. The schnitzel was more like a child's portion. The Schäuferle (pork shoulder) was, unfortunately, one of the worst I've ever eaten. The sauce was very thin, almost like water, and bland in flavor – not what you'd expect from a Schäuferle (pork shoulder). If you're looking for something extravagant, this might be a good place, but for average Franconians, it will be very disappointing.

Absolutely deserved 5 stars! We were there for dinner on Easter Sunday after a hike around the fortress and had cordon bleu, Schäufele and a zander with lemon butter and almond slivers -> good to eat! The cordon bleu was homemade, as was the potato salad as a side dish. For me it was the best Cordon Bleu I have ever eaten. The Schäufele was also nice and tender and had a perfect crust. In addition to the fantastic view and the beautiful furnishings, there is also great and friendly service. The chef came out every now and then and personally asked how the food was. Very personable and you can really tell that the operators are passionate about it. The restaurant was apparently reopened by new owners last summer. We paid €72 for the three dishes as well as 2 shandy and a 0.5l blackcurrant spritzer. In my opinion, it's completely fine considering the great quality. We'll definitely be back.

We were at the Berggasthof am Rothenberg for the first time and were thrilled! We had the Schäuferle and the mustard roast and the meat in both dishes was extremely tender and tasty. For dessert we had winter tiramisu and mulled wine. Everything wintery & delicious! We will definitely come back☺️

We were 1 person more than we had reserved, tables were immediately moved to create the additional space. Service very friendly and attentive. The menu is manageable, but every dish (Schäuferle, fried vegetables with rosemary potatoes and the mustard roast) was super tasty and really big enough. The Franconian dishes were ok, but the three fish dishes our group ordered were completely overcooked and the vegetables were dripping with fat. Fries and chicken nuggets came from the freezer. It's a shame we expected more.

We were there for dinner at 5 PM, our first time... and unfortunately we were a little disappointed! Service: very nice but completely overwhelmed! Countless food and drinks went to the wrong tables, long faces from the waitresses and annoyed faces from the guests. Food: We chose the organic duck with dumpling and red cabbage. The portion was more than manageable, the two pieces of duck were extremely small, the skin was tough like rubber and unfortunately inedible and the meat was very dry. We were both far from full and grabbed a burger on the way home. At a price of €24 per meal, I expect to at least be full! Ambiance: the view is a dream! But you could do so much more with this restaurant! Cleaning the windows so that you can enjoy the beautiful view would be a start. Don't tie the curtains together with cable ties and perhaps arrange seasonal decorations in the empty decorative baskets on the window sills would make the impression a little more loving. Conclusion: All of this was a snapshot! Maybe some of the waitresses were sick and had to be replaced by assistants. Maybe the cook was sick and someone had to try to run the kitchen. We will definitely make a reservation there again and try another dish. We hope that our first impression is not confirmed.

Our “first time” at the Berggasthof Rothenberg was really great. The food was super tasty. There is also a small selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes. The service was quick and friendly, even though the inn was packed. The products come from the region, which we think is very good. I can't understand some of the (negative) reviews here at all. For example, that you can no longer get all the dishes at 5 p.m. (!). Hello? Or that you have to have the right to unreserved seats without registering. With the death of the Franconian inns, one should be happy that such a beautiful inn remains with us. The Bergasthof Rothenberg is definitely recommended. Many thanks to the entire team for our very successful “first time”.

We were there for dinner. The food was okay, but nothing special. The menu is relatively clear and unfortunately at 5 p.m. three dishes were already out. The view is spectacular and definitely worth a visit. The service was brisk. Getting there will be a challenge, at least in winter.

Unfortunately, the service was completely overwhelmed. Cappuccino in a cup and served half full. Cup of coffee without a saucer, quickly drop the spoon on the table. At least the question arose later as to whether milk was desired. The meal Schäufele with miniature toilets without salad €16.50 and mustard roast with dumpling, well, cheaper even in the 3 star restaurant and with salad. Then you have to change tables with your food because yours is reserved and a snooty wannabe manager thinks it's impractical to simply exchange the little reservation signs. So, an event inn presents itself differently. That was Generation Pisa in action. Nevertheless, praise to the kitchen, the Schäufele was very good, the mustard roast had too much squishy fat for our taste, which also affected the taste. And kudos to the little blonde cashier who, thanks to her self-preservation humor, was able to end the whole thing with a smile. Summary: No thanks, not again, there are enough culinary and atmospheric oases in the Nuremberg area that simply remain what they are and don't want to reach for stars they can't reach. Too bad, missed opportunity.

Last Sunday, four of us had a reservation for lunch at Rothenberg at 12:30 p.m.! After a short wait, we were assigned our table, which was unfortunately occupied by unreserved guests. The waitress assigned us a new table and brought us the menu from which we chose drinks and roulade, mustard crust roast and two Schäuferla. The drinks were served to us quickly and the free side salad arrived shortly afterwards. After about 20 minutes the main courses arrived, all of which were very good but the Schäuferla was a dream. We'll definitely be back next week and have already reserved! Keep it up!

The website says Cyclists Welcome! So today we went on a tour that was really great but also very, very tiring. After 38 kilometers and a 530 difference in altitude we arrived, because unfortunately it's difficult to estimate the time, we thought that there would also be 2 to 3 tables for pass-through guests...unfortunately we thought wrong, it was outside and inside, all the tables were reserved 😞 That's how it is we return home hungry and thirsty. So dear cyclists... you absolutely have to make a reservation, master a tight riding style and have a tremendous amount of fitness, then it will be something with a reward, otherwise unfortunately NO!

This location has been closed for a long time. It's being renovated there, whatever! Unfortunately, there is nothing about this on the sign in the direction of the parking lot. Unfortunately, according to the hiking trail, you have to walk 500 m from the parking lot to the location. In reality, it's at least twice as long to end up in front of a construction site. Very nice staff and the Schäuferle was very good, but the Kaiserschmarrn was missing some fluffiness. Definitely coming back.

Ehrlich, bodenständig und lecker, wir waren sehr zufrieden, das Essen ist gut gemacht, alles frisch und fair bepreist. Perfekt wäre noch gewesen, wenn im Beilagensalat die Paprika nicht aus dem Glas, sondern frisch gewesen wären. Dafür waren Sauerbraten, Rouladen und Schäufele super lecker und toll gekocht!
