Bembel & Gretel in Usingen

Das Essen ist immer hervorragend. Der Outdoor-Bereich kann leider nicht sehr gemütlich gestaltet werden, weil immer wieder Markt auf diesem Platz ist. Aber es ist okay. Drinnen hingegen sitze ich nicht so gerne, das ist mir persönlich zu ungemütlich und unbequem. Ist aber reine Geschmackssache. Beim Service ist es leider nie inzwischen fast überall. Am Anfang wird man gut bedient, und nach dem Essen wenn man noch was trinken möchte schaut keine mehr nach einem. Ich kann das leider nicht verstehen, jede Gastronomie könnte wesentlich mehr Geld machen wenn man auch nach dem Essen immer und immer wieder die Möglichkeit hat noch etwas zu bestellen. Fazit für uns, Essen sehr lecker und Portionen auch groß. Allerdings verbesserungswürdig am Service und am Ambiente für unseren Geschmack.

Nettes Personal, leckeres Essen, schönes Ambiente, humane Preise. Gerne empfehle ich diese Lokation weiter.

Das Essen ist gut - der Service leider unterdurchschnittlich bis leicht dilettantisch. Auf die Angabe "Geburtstag" in der Reservierung wurde nicht eingegangen, BITTE fragt bei der Reservierung dann nicht nach dem Anlass... 😵‍💫 Ist an einem wohlig-warmen Dienstagabend gut besucht, von daher ist guter Service eventuell gar keine Notwendigkeit, für einen zweiten Besuch unsererseits wird es leider nicht reichen. (Das Faust-Bier ist ein Knüller, unbedingt nehmen!)

Haben sehr gut hier gespeist: Spargelcremesuppe, Spargelsalat und Erdbeertiramisu - alles sehr frisch und lecker! Gerne wieder!

Insgesamt enttäuschend- wir werden nicht wiederkommen! Wir hatten für einen Geburtstagsessen reserviert und waren gestern pünktlich da – leider war der Tisch noch nicht vorbereitet, und vom Anlass war nichts zu erkennenn (braucht es dann auch keine Abfrage bei der Reservierung wenn nicht darauf eingegangen wird) Positiv hervorzuheben ist die Location: Die Räume sind sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet und schaffen ein angenehmes Ambiente, Tische stehen in einem angenehmen Abstand zu einander. Das Gin Getränk und auch die Vorspeise „Handkäs mit Musik“ waren wirklich sehr köstlich. Der Service wirkte phasenweise stark ausgelastet und nicht ganz abgestimmt: Vorspeisen kamen teilweise vor den Getränken, und nachbestellte zwei Getränke ließen sehr lange auf sich warten – so lange, dass wir bereits überlegt hatten, sie wieder abzubestellen. Sie wurden erst gebracht, als wir mit dem Nachtisch (bestellt weit davor) fast fertig waren. Zudem wurde bei einer Hauptspeise ein Salat vergessen. Zunächst wurde sogar behauptet, dieser stünde nicht auf der Karte, bevor dies später korrigiert und der Salat nachgereicht wurde – zu einem Zeitpunkt, als das Essen bereits weitgehend verzehrt war. Auch das Essen konnte insgesamt nicht überzeugen: Teile der Hauptgerichte waren deutlich zu salzig (haben wir auch an den Service vor Ort kommuniziert) Die Pommes zum Burger waren überhaupt nicht knusprig, und die als „Trüffelpommes“ angebotene Variante bestand lediglich aus einfachen Pommes mit einer kleinen Portion Trüffelmayonnaise – für knapp 12 Euro aus unserer Sicht schon beinahe unverschämt. Wir haben die Speisen dennoch aufgegessen, da wir extra in den Taunus gefahren sind – teils mit einer Anreise von bis zu einer Stunde und auch mit Kindern – und es sich uns daher keine Alternative bot. Ein Genuss war es jedoch nicht. Für vier Personen haben wir 175 Euro bezahlt (4x Hauptgänge, 2x Vorspeisen, 2x Desserts und 6x Getränke) – das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis stimmt hier aus unserer Sicht überhaupt nicht.

Wir waren zu einem Krimi-Dinner (wieder einmal) im Bembel&Gretel und sind wieder einmal nicht enttäuscht worden! Ein sehr freundliches und serviceorientiertes Team mit familiärem Flair und einer exzellenten, aber nicht überteuerten Küche. Weiter so und Dankeschön für den kurzweiligen Abend! Ihre Ruddat's

Besonders möchte ich den Service der jungen Mitaebeiterin hervorheben. Der Ambientemix aus Neu und Alt hat mich sehr angesprochen. Das Essen war hausgemacht und lecker.

Ich war zum ersten Mal im Bembel&Gretel. Die Reservierung im Vorfeld online hat super geklappt. Das Ambiente ist sehr einladend und passend dem Namen gewählt. Personal sehr freundlich. An der ein oder anderen Stelle hat es etwas länger gedauert aber das ist sicherlich durch Personalmangel zu entschuldigen. Das Problem gibt es ja überall und für mich kein Grund zum Abzug. Die Auswahl der Speisen ist sehr gut sodass es schwer war sich zu entscheiden. Ich hatte ein Sellerieschnitzel was wirklich lecker war. Wir haben sogar alkoholfreien Apfelwein im Bembel bekommen. Auch die restliche Getränkeauswahl sehr abwechslungsreich. Sogar Bier von Faust steht auf der Karte. Preis Leistung in Ordnung. Klare Empfehlung und sicher den Weg wieder wert!

In jedem Fall sehr nett eingerichtet, eine Mischung aus klassisch und modern. Essen ist ok, aber wenn ich wirklich hessisch speisen möchte, dann gibt es wesentlich bessere Optionen. Da war der Name leider nicht Programm.

Die Bedienungen waren super nett und das Essen ausnahmslos lecker. Über Weihnachten gab es eine ausgewählte Karte , die super auf die aktuelle Jahreszeit abgestimmt war. Wir mussten auf nichts lange warten. Ich würde es jedem empfehlen dort mal reinzuschauen :)

Das Essen war wirklich sehr gut allerdings irgendwie der letzte kniff gefehlt aber das ist jetzt Kritik auf wirklich hohem Niveau. Das Restaurant bzw. Das Ambiente ist hervorragend und mit viel Verständnis für das alte Gebäude. Wirklich schönes und gutes Restaurant

War heute mit Kollegen und unseren Chefs da. Waren alle insgesamt zufrieden

Frankfurter Schnitzel kannte ich so jetzt nicht. Aber es war lecker, gutes Fleisch mit Bratkartoffeln und der Kräutersosse. Okay, es hätten etwas mehr Kartoffeln sein können, aber man ist satt geworden. Was ich schade fand, das mit Fritz Kola geworben wurde, es aber nur orange etc gab und als Cola dann coca Cola ausgeschenkt wurde.

Essen gut. Bedienung etwas langsam.

Super lecker und nettes Personal

Ich bin ca. 1x im Jahr in Usingen und (mindestens) ein Essen im Bembel&Gretel ist mittlerweile Pflicht. Egal was es war, das Essen war bisher immer super und der Service ebenfalls sehr gut. Aktuell gibt es gerade Pulled Beef und das ist sowohl als Burger als auch mit Ofenkartoffel eine absolute Empfehlung.

Mehr Schein als Sein. Schönes Ambiente, Essen in Ordnung (Fleischspeisen sehr gut), allerdings eigenwillige Interpretation einer Riesengarnele, schmale Ausstattung des (überteuerten) Salates, unaufmerksamer Service (teilweise) sehr unfreundlich und "gemächliche" Bearbeitung der Bestellung, Getränke vergessen. Der Bedienung war es sehr wichtig uns mitzuteilen, das Sie kein Schweinefleisch ißt. Puuh! Muss ich nicht nochmal haben. Schade.

Probably the best schnitzel I've ever eaten. It really doesn't get any better than this. Served with fried potatoes. A definite recommendation!

We've been there several times since it opened, months apart. The food and drinks were always excellent, but the service was always disappointing. Today again: there were long waits and the service was somehow completely overwhelmed. A smile and a warm welcome to guests should really be a given. I wasn't satisfied with the service today. It's a shame.

We showed up on a Saturday evening without reservation as we had just arrived in town. Very busy and would recommend making a reservation if you know you are coming here. However despite that they found us a table and were very accommodating. Service was surprisingly good for how busy they were! Food was amazing and drinks were great! We've known this restaurant for a long time and have received friendly service in the past. Today, they didn't want to give us an outside table because there were only two of us, and this table is reserved for larger groups. We were then directed to small bistro tables or the inside. Given the nice weather and summer temperatures, we declined. We then went to the Romantico restaurant across the street and received very friendly and courteous service.

We had a private event and were thoroughly satisfied. Delicious schnitzel, perfect drinks, and friendly service.

Am letzten Montag Abend war ich mit Freundinnen hier essen. Schöne Aussenterrasse auf dem Marktplatz. Die jungen männlichen Service-Kräfte waren den ganzen Abend über sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Ihre weibliche Kollegin leider nicht. Aus unerfindlichen Gründen reagierte sie genervt und angriffslustig , als eine von uns um eine weitere Decke bat. Sie hörte mit Provokationen nicht auf, bis wir das Lokal verließen. Diese Situation war für uns alle so unangenehm, dass wir nicht wiederkommen werden.

Komme gerade von dieser Lokalität. wir haben draußen auf der Terrasse gesessen, das Essen war gut und der Blick auf den Marktplatz war super. Es hätte ein schöner Abend sein können, wäre da nicht Ihre weibliche Bedienung mit dem schwarzen Pferdeschwanz gewesen. Auf meine Bitte, mir eine weitere Decke zu geben, meinte sie, warum, ich sollte mir Mal selbst eine holen. Nachdem später einige von uns zahlten, meinte sie zu mir, ich könnte ja ruhig noch bleiben, ich bräuchte keine Angst vor ihr zu haben, sie frisst mich schon nicht. Nun hoffte ich, sie hätte ihr Gift an mir verschossen, ging es immer noch weiter. Sie kam mit einer Decke, schmiss diese neben mir auf die Sitzbank und meinte, "hier die Decke, damit sie nicht eingeschnappt zu sein brauchen!" Ich bin noch nie so pampig von einer Bedienung behandelt worden und denke, eine Schulung zu dem Thema, "wie benehmen ich mich im Servicebereich " täte ihr gut. Es wundert mich, dass man sich eine solche Servicekraft leisten kann. Jeder an unserem Tisch war extrem erstaunt über ein solches Verhalten und darüber, dass solche erstaunlichen Mitarbeiter bei Ihnen eingestellt werden.

Straight 5 stars. The atmosphere in the lovingly renovated, old half-timbered house from 1720 is cozy and very clean. If you would like to find out something about the work on the old walls: on the way to the toilets in the basement there is a small photo documentation to look at and marvel at. The kitchen does its job quickly and very well. From simple schnitzel with fries to rump steak, there is something for everyone on the extensive but clear menu. The menu is dominated by German and Hessian classics. All at more traditional prices, absolutely reasonable. The staff is friendly, attentive and always available. Recommendation in Usingen!

Recommended! A super great, nice and attentive service! We waited a moment for the food, but it was worth every minute. Great taste, beautifully served. Good German cuisine! The small portion of schnitzel, great for a woman. The wild burger is a great combination. It's a bit of a shame that you're sitting outside quite close to the street, but given the food and the service, even that doesn't bother you!

The restaurant initially gives the impression that it serves home-made cider. No, Industrie Äppler is served. To eat: schnitzel from the deep fryer like in a snack bar. Green sauce was good. Fried potatoes so-so. Prices overpriced. I won't visit again.

I'd love to come by here after my training at clever fit. The rustic half-timbered house exudes an incredibly cozy atmosphere - just the thing for a relaxing evening with friends or family. The menu offers a great selection of Hessian classics, freshly prepared and prepared with a lot of love. I usually eat the Viennese veal schnitzel with cranberries – simply perfect! The warm apple strudel with vanilla ice cream is also recommended. Plus a good Äpplewoi – what more could you want? 🍏🍷 The service was super friendly and attentive, you can immediately tell that people work here with passion. The prices are also absolutely fair for the quality you get. Conclusion: If you want to enjoy good, down-to-earth food in a stylish, traditional atmosphere, this is the right place for you. I'll definitely come back after my next workout!

We were here for the Italian evening. Small, fine menu. There were four of us here and everyone enjoyed everything. The tiramisu was better than at our favorite Italian restaurant. Not a bargain but worth every euro.

Waited forever for food and drinks

Das Restaurant ist sehr nett, leider war das Essen eine Katastrophe. Am Eingang wurde Sauerbraten angeboten und wir waren begeistert. Das Fleisch war so hart, das man es kaum schneiden konnte und kauen ging auch kaum. Der Wirsing war trocken, da sich die weiße Soße getrennt hatte. Wir hatten eine Kraftbrühe vorne weg, die recht gut war. Wir werden vielleicht diesem Restaurant nochmal eine Chance geben.

Has developed excellently over the last 12 months. The service is courteous, attentive and friendly. The ambience still has room for improvement in terms of noise reduction, but unfortunately it is still very loud when the restaurant is full. Further soundproofing would be required.

Das Restaurant macht eine schönen und gepflegten Eindruck. Wir warteten über 1,5 Stunden auf unser Essen. Die Ente war nicht knusprig und schmeckt wie in der Microwelle aufgewärmt, das Rotkraut schmeckte angebrannt und danach nochmals - brutal- verwürzt. Die Klöße waren aufgewärmt in der MW. Die Bedienung war...................o.k. : 3- ! Die Chefin die uns ebenfalls bediente war genervt , aggressiv und frech. Alles in allem ein Flopp - dieses Etablissement. Einmal und nie wieder !! Great ambience, very good food, large portions, great evening, gladly again!

I'm giving this star because it just wasn't good, unfortunately. There were a lot of Christmas parties that evening. I would say too many. I don't want to say anything more about it. I will eat there again privately. Everyone deserves a second chance.

We have been here several times and have always been satisfied. Unfortunately that wasn't the case today. Our order was wasted. It can happen, but if the staff had been attentive or asked for new drinks, it probably would have been noticed sooner. The food was good. When we wanted to pay we had to wait forever again. At least two drinks were on the house.

I'm really irritated, I've never eaten a worse schnitzel. Full of oil from the deep fryer, the onions were mush from the bucket. And that for over 20 euros.

Starter: Beetroot carpaccio - goat cheese good, not very good. Salad too. Unfortunately very little beetroot, a bit weak but well crafted. Main course: Green sauce - very weak, schnitzel on the other hand good - but not very good. Fried potatoes really good. Side salad drowned in vinegar, a shame. 🍔 wildburger: the ingredients don't match, the patty is too dry, but the taste could definitely be going in the right direction. Game meat content good, spices good. Ingredients in the burger are generally quite high quality, there is definitely potential here. Cranberry? Unfortunately, if it doesn't fit into the taste, it doesn't become a relevant part of the mouthfeel - it's a shame that points are wasted. Fries good. Waited a little long but not worth mentioning - unfortunately a drink order went missing, that can happen. Service was otherwise generally very nice and seating was particularly good.

It was a disaster. We ordered our food at 6:45 p.m....at 8 p.m. I pointed out to the waiter that it might be time to serve us something. An incredulous look hit me. I can't accept an excuse "it's unfortunately so full today". How bold can you be to treat your guests like that? At 8:30 p.m. I packed my things and left the restaurant. Never see me again. Never experienced anything like this before. Then I went to the kebab around the corner with my sweetheart. Dear owners of Bembel and Gretel, please learn the ABCs of gastronomy. If you can't handle that many guests (the store was full) then you can't accept that many reservations. You are a disaster.

Im Gretel und Bembel sitzt in einem schönen Ambiente mit tollem Blick Richtung Feldberg oder auf den alten Marktplatz. Wir hatten einen Tisch reserviert. Als Vorspeise hatten wir eine Cappuccino Tasse voll mit einer sehr leckeren Kürbissuppe. Als Hauptspeise hatten wir Schnitzel mit Pilzrahmsauce, Zwiebelhackbraten bzw. Wiener Schnitzel. Die Sauce zum Schnitzel war etwas zu flüssig und hatte zu wenig Geschmack. Die Bratkartoffeln waren mit Schale und fast überhaupt nicht angebraten und gewürzt- sehr schade. Der Beilagensalat, das Wiener Schnitzel und das Fleisch waren lecker. Die Portionen waren bei den Hauptgerichten prima. Der Service war sehr aufmerksam. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

We have been going to Bembel and Gretel regularly for two years and have never been disappointed. The food is very tasty, they always use fresh ingredients. The waitresses are always very attentive and friendly and the atmosphere inside and outside on the beautiful market square is great.

At Gretel and Bembel you can sit in a lovely atmosphere with a great view towards Feldberg or the old market square. We had reserved a table. As a starter we had a cappuccino cup full of a very tasty pumpkin soup. For the main course we had schnitzel with mushroom cream sauce, onion meatloaf and Wiener schnitzel. The sauce for Schnitzel was a bit too runny and didn't have enough flavor. The fried potatoes were peeled and almost not fried or seasoned at all - a shame. The side salad, the Wiener Schnitzel and the meat were delicious. The portions for the main courses were great. The service was very attentive. We'd love to come back.

We were disappointed!! Had reserved a table in advance for 6.30 p.m. The place was very full for a Monday, which is a good sign. Unfortunately we waited 1.5 hours for our food. The side salad was served during the main course. A single guest who arrived significantly later was served immediately and had already left the restaurant and we hadn't even had our food yet. We won't be coming back here any time soon. It's a shame, we weren't satisfied with this service.

Restaurant on the market square with a lot of flair. Very good food with great staff. When the restaurant manager is there, you notice even more how the place is running even better. Totally organized and structured. He gives us the feeling that we are not just any guest. Through his questions and even a short conversation, he conveys absolute hospitality. That's why we go there more often and are very satisfied, a great restaurant with a great atmosphere. Keep it up. Absolutely recommended.

Good food, friendly and fast service. We sat outside at first, but then had to go indoors because of a thunderstorm. Unfortunately it is quite loud there, so it was difficult to have a conversation. The food is definitely recommended and we will definitely eat here again.

We spent a warm summer evening here. Perfect ambience on the old market square with a holiday feeling. The two Viennese schnitzels with fried potatoes Grandma's style plus a small salad tasted very good. The burger was also very tasty. Despite the restaurant being full, the service was very attentive and friendly. The price, performance and gastronomic standards are right here. We'd love to come back!!!! What we did then: Sat in the beautiful square again for a late Sunday lunch. Very attentive service. The salad “Nina's summer salad” with king prawns, chicken, falafel and mushrooms was a feast for the eyes when it was brought out. The taste is also very diverse and delicious. The dish of the day was meatloaf with fried potatoes and a side salad, also tasty and very filling. At the end, the house was treated to a refreshing cocktail of apple liqueur on ice, and for the driver a version without alcohol. We felt very, very comfortable and in good hands here..

I was there today and had a burger 🍔, it was one of the worst burgers I've eaten in my life. Never again

The portions used to be a little larger and tasted better. I found the schnitzel to be too dry, the green sauce and fried potatoes not enough. The prices are too expensive for the food and a Meatloaf for almost 20 euros!!! Sorry, that doesn't work for a bit of minced meat. I'm not going there anymore

A very nice restaurant, it's nice to sit inside and out. The menu is not too big, but still has a good selection. Particularly noteworthy is the service, staff “hand-picked” by the chef who are friendly and attentive. I can only recommend it, a trip to Usingen is worth it.

Attracted by the beautiful website and the exciting menu, we went to “Bembel und Gretel” for dinner. It's really nice to sit there in the market square. The food we ordered came so quickly that we wondered whether a microwave had been used. The chanterelles in cream sauce with fried potatoes were designated as a main course due to the portion size, but were an appetizer. You could look for the chanterelles in a light, tasteless sauce with a magnifying glass. There was clearly too much sugar in the mixed salad served with it. The vegetarian burger was presented in a strong grain bun, which is initially positive. But the knives were so blunt that it was difficult to eat him. It consisted of three small, crumbly, dry falafels, a slice of watery, tasteless tomato, a slice of eggplant cooked almost to a pulp and a few huge lettuce leaves and - a no-go - for a decent burger: raw onions. The burger costs 17.50 euros without any side dishes. I think that's overpriced. However, the schnitzel with fries at the next table looked good. So it's more of a place for the schnitzel and fries group. Too bad.

Angelockt von der schönen website und der spannenden Speisekarte sind wir zum Abendessen ins „Bembel und Gretel“ gegangen. Man sitzt dort wirklich schön auf dem Marktplatz. Das bestellte Essen kam so schnell das wir uns die Frage stellten, ob da eine Mikrowelle eingesetzt wurde. Die Pfifferlinge in Rahmsoße mit Bratkartoffeln waren zwar als Hauptgericht ausgewiesen von der Portion her aber eine Vorspeise. Die Pfifferlinge in heller geschmacksneutraler Soße konnte man mit der Lupe suchen. Am dazu gereichten gemischten Salat war eindeutig zu viel Zucker. Der vegetarische Burger wurde in einem kräftigen Körnerbrötchen präsentiert, was erst einmal positiv ist. Nur waren die Messer so stumpf, dass man Probleme hatte ihn zu Essen. Er bestand aus drei kleinen krümeligen, trocknen Falafel, einer Scheibe wässriger geschmackloser Tomate, einer Scheibe fast zu Brei gekochter Aubergine und ein paar riesigen Salatblättern und – ein no go– für einen ordentlichen Burger: rohen Zwiebeln. Der Burger kostet ohne jegliche Beilage 17,50 Euro. Das finde ich überteuert. Die Schnitzel mit Pommes am Nachbartisch sahen jedoch gut aus. Also eher ein Lokal für die Schnitzel mit Pommes Fraktion. Schade.

The food was very tasty, the atmosphere was inviting and the boss dealt with our mishap with the gourmet block in a completely calm and uncomplicated manner. We'd love to come back!

I've been there three times over the course of a year. But yesterday was probably the last time. I was there for almost 3 hours, 90% of the time I was looking at an empty table or an empty glass. I had to ask for the bill 3 times and it took an hour until I was finally able to pay.

Great location, beautifully situated. Food quality overpriced and mediocre. Service always tried hard.
