We were looking for a vegan döner kebab in Dortmund, and "Der Ägypter" seemed to be the only place in the city center that sold vegan döner. We received a very unusual döner. Visually, it looked like a dürüm, but it was toasted to a crisp. The filling was also different from a "conventional" dürüm. It consisted of baked/roasted vegetables and potatoes, various salads, and seitan döner. The sauces were hummus and a spicy peanut sauce. All in all, the "döner" tasted very good.

Delicious food and friendly staff. Unfortunately, no toilet.

"At the Egyptian Restaurant" is definitely worth a visit! The food is incredibly delicious, freshly prepared, and bursting with flavor—just as you'd want it. The portions are generous, and the value for money is excellent. The staff are incredibly friendly and make you feel instantly welcome. You can tell that the food is cooked and prepared with love.

The food here is very tasty; we come here every time we're just looking for a snack, but the price increase has definitely affected us. Unfortunately, the flavor and seasoning have declined since our last visit. I would have liked something to add extra seasoning.

I've had the vegan doner kebab here several times, and it's really delicious. The vegan doner kebab plate, however, was quite disappointing and overpriced. Unfortunately, it wasn't presented very appetizingly; it was more like a slapped-on dish. The seitan was very dry, and the salad was bland and tasteless. I would be happy if the vegan alternative was prepared with a bit more love and flavor. After all, it's a unique offering in downtown Dortmund :)

The lamb wrap is highly recommended—very, very tasty!! The rice was also delicious. Unfortunately, we got the impression that the staff didn't really enjoy their work :/ All in all, though, a good spot.

I waited a long time, only to end up having to go inside and see that he'd forgotten my order. After he'd made my sandwich, I went inside to take it, but the fries I'd ordered were missing. Then I had to wait again until he made them because, surprise, surprise, he'd forgotten them too. Never again!

We ordered via Lieferando and paid via Paypal. Food never came, no one answers the phone. Not recommended! (Order was confirmed by Lieferando with order number)

Unfortunately, we forgot the fried potatoes on the grill plate. The plate itself was just fine.

The vegan kebab is okay, but I've eaten much better ones. The bread, the sauce and the vegetables tasted very good and were also specially seasoned, but I personally didn't need the seitan and would rather replace it with various grilled vegetables, so only 3 stars instead of 4. It also took a relatively long time for fast food, even though no one else ordered before me, so I deducted one star here.

This food is not Egyptian food, and even the names of Egyptian dishes like Koshari are prepared in a non-Egyptian way. I am Egyptian and know Egyptian food well.

I went there trusting the Google reviews but I was disappointed. The meat content was so small that it was like nothing. In addition, the behavior towards customers was very rude. I waited for almost 30 minutes even though the store was empty. I almost canceled the order. If you want to eat 50g of chicken for 6 euros, you can go.

Well-intentioned 2 stars. We had the vegan kebab with seitan meat. I am a vegan and my boyfriend is a meat eater. Unfortunately neither of us liked it. We had already eaten vegan kebab with seitan meat in another city, which we both liked very much. Unfortunately, it didn't taste like seitan meat at all. The seitan slices were cut far too thick and barely seasoned. Maybe it was prepared incorrectly? Because according to another review of this kebab, it is said to be highly recommended. Maybe the person making it didn't have any experience. Maybe I'll try it again soon. Unfortunately, the selection of vegan dishes was also rather small. In a big city, especially from Arabs, I expect more. It would be desirable if at least 2 dishes were added

The advertised vegan kebabs are NOT available here! The decoy offer turned out to be a falafel bag. I left again.

It was quite cramped, the table wasn't clean and much more but apart from that it was the worst food I've ever eaten. God forbid I go there again.

The food itself was very tasty, but shortly before we entered the store we asked if we could pay by card, to which we were answered yes. 15 minutes later we were told you couldn't pay with a card and we had to withdraw money, which cost us €6 in fees. Impudence🫣

The gentleman is very friendly and greeted us with a smile... we ordered the Charlie chicken Kuschari once, which was very, very tasty We also had the food served to the table with two different sauces… the price for 7.90 is okay for the quantity

It was my first time here, and the food was delicious. I ordered the classic dish, Kushiro Charlie Chicken, and I was pleasantly surprised by how flavorful it was. The owner was very friendly as well. I highly recommend this restaurant.

A very run down shop with terrible food. Sorry. No Egyptians are therefore immediately doomed to failure. Too expensive and so far undefinable “meat”. Will never see me again. All the best anyway

I was in this restaurant for the first time yesterday. They are short on staff, which is why the order took a while. I ordered a burger with fries and asked the (annoyed and stressed) employee at the front if I could have a different sauce on my burger than the one listed. He said it wasn't a problem and took notes. I wanted cheddar sauce on the fries. After a long wait I got my burger with the wrong sauce and fries with ketchup even though I had ordered cheddar sauce. When I spoke to the employee, he added the other sauce on top, so that the burger had too much sauce and didn't taste good with two different sauces. The buns were also very hard. I had the feeling that the buns were very old and had been baked, but unfortunately for too long. Overall it was very disappointing and I personally wouldn't go there again. Personally, I didn't really like the fries or the burger, but that's a matter of taste. Pity for my money.

Ordered a rice meal twice. Tasty, hot and above all no fried things and for that price. It's actually just a good (evening) meal for only 8 euros. I'll be back. I didn't like the chicken version as much, a bit too salty for me. It was take away and unfortunately there was no sauce so maybe that's why it wasn't to the taste. Well, that doesn't change anything for me. I'll come back for the rice with minced meat, delicious!

Very bad, literally the worst thing we've ever eaten outside. Way too salty, the cans of sausages were burnt too. Hummus tasted like chemicals and was totally artificial. As people of Arabic origin, we can also judge that. After we said that it was all way too salty, etc., we were brazenly told by the employee at the front that we were the first to complain. When we paid and weren't even over the threshold, the two men (the one from the kitchen) and the one at the checkout laughed at us and insulted us in Persian 😊 Maybe wait until the customers leave beforehand. That really has nothing to do with Egyptian cuisine. This is lower kitchen. Paid €37.50 for 2 “supposed” grill plates as a menu because the drinks are not included in the menu. That's a joke there, I'm amazed at good comments here. Please accept criticism and do not give reasons.

Unfortunately my visit to this Egyptian restaurant was a huge disappointment. First of all, it was very unusual that not a single Egyptian person was represented on the staff. That gave me a strange feeling. Unfortunately, the food wasn't what I expected either. It was cold and tasted nothing like Egyptian cuisine. The spices were completely missing and it just wasn't authentic. The worst thing, however, was the employee at the front. He was very rude and unprofessional. He seemed to have no idea about the menu and had no patience to answer my questions. All in all, my visit to this Egyptian restaurant was a big disappointment. I definitely won't come back and can't recommend it. It's a shame that my expectations were so disappointed.

Solid sandwiches that are different from all the kebab shops on Brückstr. also take off. Unfortunately it's not enough and you can eat 2 almost at any time, which would then be 13 euros for a Shish Tawuk. In terms of price, it's not at the bottom of the drawer like many others these days, but there's still more possible. But all in all, pretty solid.

The Kuschari was pretty dry and rice to meat ratio also very off. I reckon there are better options around even though it was relatively cheap

Falafel wrap always very good! Price/performance is definitely right. Unfortunately the beef was a bit fatty/knobby.

Shawama is basically vegetarian dürüm. Doesn't taste good at all. It's better to go to a shop on the right or left, they both taste much better and are much cheaper. (I had eaten something else here a while before and it tasted just as bad and was also relatively expensive)

It was a total failure: Iranians pretending to be Egyptians. The food was bottom drawer in terms of taste and quality. The meat from the hamburger was fried to death and therefore hard. Absolutely not recommended!

Apparently there is a 50 - 50 chance that the meal or visit to the Egyptian restaurant will be a flop, as the last reviews here show. I've been going to the Egyptian restaurant every now and then for many years. So far the results have been good and I have had good food. I had gotten used to the rather grumpy behavior of the staff. I'm not squeamish about it. But this changed last time. The order was taken incorrectly, something was missing and then it didn't come. But the worst thing was that there was no understanding or apology at all. You don't have to fall to your knees, a 'sorry' and an understanding would have been enough. It's clear to me that you don't have to accept everything. There are many good alternatives, especially in the Brückstraße district, which I will prefer in the future. Vouchers on TikTok don't help either.

I love the shawarmas. Especially with Makali and Köfte or Makali Chicken. The peanut chilli sauce goes very well with it. Price is also right. I ordered take away several times and everything was great. Once it was delivered it was a bit small and not as tasty as it was locally, so I recommend ordering locally.

My food was awesome. The taste of egyptian kitchen is definitely an enrichment for the kulinar world of Germany. We will see us again.

Sweet potatoes were probably originally planned, but they tasted burnt! When I asked for mayonnaise (before trying it), I was given a garlic sauce that had nothing to do with mayo... the full price was charged even though I politely informed them that the fries tasted very burnt and I couldn't eat this portion. Never again!

I recently got “Kuschari El toro” there. A short time later I got stomach cramps, vomited several times and now feel sick like never before. So if you're in the mood for food poisoning for €6.90, you've come to the right place. I don't even want to know when the beef was from. The staff was also unfriendly and was on their cell phones the whole time I was waiting.

The best thing about the Egyptian restaurant is that it feels like it's always open if you want to buy something to eat on Brückstrasse at night. However, you should bring your time. Best place to get a vegan makali in the city center, they also have vegan mayo.

I'm not a gourmet but I thought it was a great place to try something different, we went there three times in one week because my girlfriend loved the food so much, I always found something that I liked, so if you're in Dortmund is a place you should have been to :)

The taste is great if you want to eat something different instead of the usual kebab. Fresh and filling. Food was prepared quickly. Price-performance ratio very good. Ambiance typical snack bar.

The worst food I've eaten so far. The shawarma had nothing to do with a shawarma. No meat in it, just salad and cheese. When asked, they also lied that there was meat in it. NEVER AGAIN, Utopian prices and no service. 12€ for a vegetable dürüm and 3€ for a cola😂😂

The food was very tasty and was brought to our table freshly prepared by the nice gentleman. There are mainly cans to drink. The seating is a bit cramped and it feels like a train station hall. Therefore, one point deducted overall. But a clear recommendation for the food on offer.

I would have actually given 0 stars because you go there at 3 a.m. on a Saturday because nothing else is open. Then you arrive after a 30 minute drive and they say they close at 3 a.m. even though they're actually open until 5! Very very very poor performance!

We were expecting a delicious little snack but were unfortunately disappointed by the poor price/performance. A falafel plate dish was ordered for 10.90 The potato slices were very fatty and lukewarm and were not fully cooked. Unfortunately, the eggplant jam tasted musty and the falafel was very dry. The loveless iceberg lettuce soaked in dressing couldn't save the plate either. Service was non-existent and it was very cold in the store because the door was always open. Unfortunately no recommendation, what a shame

Disappointed we ordered 3 wraps yesterday . One with shrimps one with shawarma and one with sausages.In shrimps wrap i could hardly taste shrimps i thought i was eating potato wrap. In shawarma meat was like four to fives pieces. They should add more meat in wrapa otherwise one can eat vege wrap.Staff was not friendly at all.

Nach einem einem Fußballspiel am 05.11.23 habe ich und 3 von 5 Freunden eine Lebensmittelvergiftung nach der Shawarma erlitten.

Ich hab mich einfach nur beleidigt gefühlt. Wenn man einen Chickenburger bestellt, erwartet man nicht billige Tiefkühlbouletten die erhitzt werden. Und dafür dann auch noch 8€ zu verlangen ist einfach nur frech.

Der Chickenburger enttäuschte auf ganzer Linie. Die Tiefkühlbuletten waren dünner als einlagiges Klopapier und schmeckten genauso fade. Die Knoblauch Pommes waren lasch und erinnerten an abgenutzte Schuhsohlen. Ein kulinarisches Desaster, das man sich sparen sollte.

Eine beeindruckende Leistung, wenn man bedenkt, dass man normalerweise nach kulinarischem Genuss strebt. Die Textur des Fleisches gleicht eher einem zähen Gummiband, das hartnäckig jeden Biss in eine geschmackliche Sackgasse führt. Ein wahrlich unvergessliches Erlebnis, wenn man sich nach einer kulinarischen Odyssee sehnt, die jegliche positiven Erwartungen über Bord wirft. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis ist hier ein Paradebeispiel für eine finanzielle Achterbahnfahrt ohne den Hauch von Genuss. Die exorbitanten Kosten für diese Geschmacksexpedition stehen in keinem Verhältnis zur gebotenen Qualität – es sei denn, man sucht absichtlich nach kulinarischer Selbstgeißelung. Ein kulinarisches Märtyrium, das mit jedem bezahlten Euro den Abgrund der Gastronomie weiter hinabstürzt. Die begleitenden Saucen, an sich als Geschmacksretter gedacht, setzen dem Desaster die Krone auf. Ein verzweifelter Versuch, die Geschmacksknospen mit katastrophalen Saucen zu betäuben, die eher an chemische Experimente als an kulinarische Köstlichkeiten erinnern. Zusammenfassend kann ich den Shawarma "Beim Ägypter" lediglich denen empfehlen, die eine besondere Vorliebe für gastronomische Grausamkeiten und finanzielle Selbstaufopferung hegen. Allen anderen rate ich dringend dazu, ihre Geschmacksknospen vor diesem qualvollen Erlebnis zu bewahren und nach einem gastlichen Ort Ausschau zu halten, der den Gaumen nicht in die Tiefen des kulinarischen Abgrunds zieht.

18 Euro für 2 Sandwiches und 2 Getränke, Durchfall und erbrechen inklusive. Service unverschämt unfreundlich.

Sehr schlechter Service, wir haben die Bestellung aufgegeben, nachdem der Verkäufer mehr als 20 Minuten gebraucht hatte , 20 Minuten später, als wir unser Essen gefragt haben, der Verkäufer hat uns ignoriert und das machte uns wirklich wütend !! Dieses Restaurant verdient keinen 1 Stern 👎👎👎

Leider sehr voll, aber Wartezeit war okay. Es gab gar keine Burger mehr. Die bestellten Rollen waren sehr scharf und schmeckt semi gut. Service gab es eigentlich nicht. Und auch eine Toilette gibt es nicht.

Leider nicht mehr das was es Mal war. Unfreundlicher Service und die Qualität des Essens ist nicht mehr so gut. Ich werde hier nicht mehr hingehen. Sehr Schade.

Eten was echt lekker, zeker aanrader. Servies was ook goed, zeer behulpzaam. Sfeer is wel te doen.

Wir haben ein Kuschari gegessen, das war richtig richtig lecker

Waren heute zu dritt dort. Das essen hat gar nicht geschmeckt, zwei von uns hatten heftige Bauchschmerzen und Magenbeschwerden danach. Das humus war anscheinend aus der dose und ekelhaft. Sehr schlechter service, in einem Restaurant sollte schon die Bestellung am Tisch aufgenommen werden statt den Kunden zuerst zu platzieren und ihn wieder zur Kasse laufen zu lassen.

Der vegane Döner ist unnormal lecker! Angemessene Portionen zum fairen Preis. :)

Knoblauchpommes schmeckten richtig alt. So als ob sie immer wieder aufgetaut und erneut eingefroren worden. Man hat sich auch viel Zeit genommen um diese einfache Bestellung fertigzustellen..

Wirklich sehr schade, könnte bestimmt schmecken, wenn man auch "etwas auf den Teller" bekommen würde. Halloumi Sandwich besteht aus einem kleinen dünnem Brot, ein paar Salatblättchen, ein Mini Stück Halloumi und Soße. Die Pommes waren schwabelig und hatten keinen Geschmack, obwohl sie auf dem Bild anders rüberkommen. Lieferzeit 2 Stunden anstatt die angegebenen 55 Minuten. Leider eine Enttäuschung. Es gibt andere Läden, da klappt es besser.

Essen war lecker,bis auf die Currywurst,die war leider ungenießbar...Die Preise sind ein wenig hoch für etwas Reis mit ein wenig Belag aber war mal was anderes und Interessant
