I was there and, like everyone else has said, it was really delicious. For example, the meat and even the smell in the restaurant were really tasty. I'll definitely go back and see what else is on the menu, or what they plan to add.

A wonderful, albeit small, Greek restaurant. Run by a mother (chef) and son (server), both are true masters of their craft. The service is very friendly, without being overbearing, always with a lighthearted remark and consistently attentive. It couldn't be better. The same goes for the food. Delicious, very fresh, and not (just) the typical dishes you'd find in a German Greek restaurant. Due to the limited number of tables, a reservation is essential. Getting a table without one is virtually impossible, and the friendly server explained to us that it was pure luck. They asked us to mention this here, as it often leads to disappointment when people show up without a reservation. We are happy to oblige! If it weren't 275 km from our home, we would definitely go there more often. Thank you for a wonderful dinner!

A family-run restaurant, managed by a mother and son, with genuine warmth and hospitality. The food is delicious and stands out positively from other Greek restaurants. The meat is high-quality and expertly prepared, and the side dishes were also tasty and sophisticated. They offer daily specials (we had a fantastic appetizer). Even after finishing work, the mother comes out to greet each guest individually, as if they've always been part of the family. Important to know: reservations are essential, as there are only a few tables, and remember to bring cash, as they don't accept card payments. Unfortunately, they close at 9 pm. We felt very comfortable and will gladly return if we're ever in the area again.

Yesterday I spontaneously called and reserved a table for four for today. We arrived promptly and received an incredibly warm and welcoming reception. It's a small, cozy restaurant (only seven tables inside). We were served and looked after by the owner's son, and his mother cooked incredibly delicious, traditional Greek food. Even the little ones (ages 5 and 8) received special treatment (coloring supplies, children's cutlery, etc.). For starters, we had the daily special: baked cheese with bell pepper jam on a salad (incredibly delicious, even for my wife, who doesn't usually like feta cheese). The children had kids' gyros and a "bandit's plate" (a larger portion), and the adults had gyros with tzatziki and moussaka. At first, I thought, "Oh, that's not much for a main course," but in the end, it was the perfect amount, and there wasn't a single bite left over. The food was perfect. All in all, a perfect evening with fantastic service and wonderful staff. Thank you so much!

If you're looking for a warm, authentic, and absolutely delicious Greek restaurant in Bad Sachsa, "Bei Helena" is the place to go! Based on previous reviews and the small size of the dining room, we made a reservation for five people in advance by phone, which is highly recommended, or rather, essential. We got a table for two days later on the weekend. And the wait was so worth it! Chris and his mother Helena gave us a wonderful dining experience. Chris with his charming, genuine, and humorous service, and Helena with her culinary skills, who served us traditional Greek food. Even the three vegetarians in our group were completely satisfied. We wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant. But don't forget to make a reservation!

The smaller number of tables is precisely what makes it so incredibly good. Just book early enough, and you'll enjoy a wonderful evening with truly outstanding food! We went there for lunch and were blown away by the service and the wonderful food. The menu offers a small but perfect selection of dishes to suit all tastes. Unfortunately, an hour and a half before closing, they refused to take our order, citing that we did not have a reserved table, although the restaurant was not busy and no more than half of the restaurant was occupied and there were free tables.

Delicious dishes at reasonable prices and friendly staff.

We've been coming here regularly since 2012 when we're on short breaks in Bad Sachsa – and every time it's a highlight! The restaurant is small, cozy, and very popular, so make sure you reserve well in advance – getting a table on the spur of the moment is almost impossible. Host Chris runs the service single-handedly with charm and warmth, while his mother Helena prepares fantastic dishes in the kitchen. The food is always fresh, delicious, and simply wonderful. You can feel the passion that goes into cooking and serving here. A true favorite restaurant – we're already looking forward to our next visit! 👌

Since we're on vacation in Bad Sachsa, we've naturally tried about 80% of the local restaurants. One stands out: "Bei Helena." Since it didn't work out the first time because it was full, we made a reservation, which is ABSOLUTELY necessary. It was the best decision to do so; otherwise, we would have missed out on excellent food, ambiance, and more. But the best part is the chef Helena with her golden fingers and the owner! He's not only extremely competent, but if you approach it with respect (as it should be), he's an absolute entertainer!!! I'm not allowed to eat salad (for health reasons), but he came up with a wonderful solution, completely unprompted and with a good joke on his lips. We also had a small nightcap to top it off, and since my wife is pregnant, she got a sweet! In short: It's no wonder it's popular – perfect food, perfect friendliness, accommodating, perfection in the food, and pure entertainment!!! 12 out of 10 points. It's a relaxing little experience, one we'd recommend to anyone. But call ahead!!! Jans Jans wipes me away 😉 And he remembered Eric. Double bonus ☺️

Be sure to make a reservation in advance! Our first visit was on a Wednesday evening and we wanted to have dinner spontaneously. Unfortunately, the friendly gentleman couldn't offer us a table that evening, as the restaurant only had seven tables and they were completely booked. We immediately made a reservation for the following evening and were warmly welcomed by name and handshake. We opted for the tzatziki as a starter and wine-braised lamb shanks for the main course. A good decision! The tzatziki was wonderfully creamy, and the lamb shanks were so tender that the meat fell off the bone at the slightest touch. Chris was very attentive and accommodating throughout our entire visit, which was only topped by his mother, the in-house cook. Both of them even took the time for a quick chat with us. World-class service and food from Chris and his family; we felt absolutely welcome every moment! My wife and I were dining without our children, so we had plenty of time. You'll receive a very warm welcome here and are immediately on first-name terms. Time permitting, there's always a quick chat. - Very friendly. The food (gyro plate) could be a bit heavier, but the quality is very good. The rice is al dente, the gyro crispy, and the salad crunchy. We went to Helena's with my parents on June 6th. I reserved a table in advance by phone and learned that the restaurant is run solely by Helena and her son, that it's only open until 9 p.m., and that dogs aren't allowed in the restaurant due to space constraints. This way, there's no room for misunderstandings. I found this very pleasant and was very excited. We were greeted very warmly and shown to our table. The menu offers a good and plentiful selection of delicious dishes. The food arrived quickly and was simply delicious. The portions were sufficiently large and the price-performance ratio is good. The owner is a very pleasant person who also takes the time for a quick chat. We really enjoyed it. If we're in the area again, we'll definitely come back. And now, just a side note: This isn't a place where you can just show up unannounced with 20 people at 8:45 p.m. What restaurant owner wants that? To be able to offer the expected quality, a little planning security is needed. For me, it's simply good manners to announce your arrival in advance. We felt absolutely welcome here. And that's a wonderful feeling. So before anyone complains about being turned away at the door, maybe just think about it and look for good manners! The team at "bei Helena" does everything right for me.

Our short vacation from June 12-14, 2025 in Bad Sachsa (Family D.) First of all, my warmest regards to your mom and son. You rarely meet such warm-hearted people, who make you feel as if you've known each other forever. 5 stars alone aren't enough for that. Now, let's talk about the food/ambience and service. What can I possibly write that could even do it justice - in our case? It couldn't be bettered: the warmth, the open conversations, the service, and the food itself – it couldn't be topped; in our opinion, it's not even possible. In terms of taste, it was a feast that could neither be surpassed nor topped. Mom's appetizers, which aren't listed on the menu but are offered daily by her son, are simply amazing. The regular dishes from the menu are also plentiful and very delicious in both preparation and taste. Seasoned with the warmth of the innkeeper and his mother, this is a feast. No fancy restaurant can compete with that. Note for guests: Due to certain circumstances, you can't currently dine in; you have to call ahead. But the innkeeper is really trying very hard to make it possible. In our case, we were very lucky because we had already planned to eat there based on the reviews and conversations with people on the street, as well as the proximity to the hotel (Hotel an der Uffe, 50 meters away). We were already sitting in another restaurant in the city center when my wife said, "Just call." We were sad at first when we heard that unfortunately, due to maintenance work and reservations, it wouldn't be possible to eat there. But shortly after, the son (innkeeper) called and told us that there had been a cancellation and we could come after all. We were happy about that alone, and when we received such a warm and welcoming welcome on site, it was a gift in itself. The food itself tops everything, seasoned with the warmth and openness of the owners, it can't be topped; it can't even be rated with stars. But of course, that always depends on how you behave as a guest!!! We ourselves travel with open hearts and respect for others, and everyone should remember one thing, both as guests and as people: "You are treated the way you present yourself." Best wishes again to the mom/host and staff. We will definitely be back, even if it's just for a warm hug. We were incredibly satisfied. Even though all the tables were reserved, they still managed to get us a table for 1.5 hours. The son, who also served us, was super nice and very prompt. We were asked about any food intolerances, which is really rare. We didn't have to wait long for our food and drinks, and the food was amazing. The atmosphere outside was cozy and peaceful. We'd love to come back!

Because of the good reviews we wanted to eat there. First called to see if dogs were welcome. Unfortunately they were not welcome (the reason why not, is very understandable). We could pick up, so ordered on the spot (no online menu). Just a 20 minute wait and our mixed grill was ready. Staff is very friendly. The food was super tasty and more than enough!

Excellent Greek cuisine. The lamb shank sets a whole new standard; tender is a complete understatement. I've never experienced anything like it, even in Greece. Reservations are essential (preferably a week in advance, two weeks for special occasions). There are only seven tables and two staff (one is Helena in the kitchen, the other is her son). They are both very friendly and deeply human.

Rarely eaten sooooooooo fantastically. There were four of us for dinner. We called ahead and booked a table. You should definitely do that so you don't go home sad again. There's definitely really good food here. We had tzaziki, the gratinated sheep's cheese and a recommendation from the cook (leaf spinach, feta and rice in homemade puff pastry). The recommendations vary daily... The main course was 2× gyros gratinated with fries and salad and 2× the “grill plate” with salad and tzatziki. The restaurant is run by mother and son. The mom cooks and does it simply "divinely" and the son is so warm that you don't want to leave again. It was a great final evening and we will definitely come back as soon as we are in the area. Der Service – geführt von Chris – war mit Abstand einer der freundlichsten, die ich je erlebt habe. Man fühlt sich sofort willkommen und rundum wohl. Das Restaurant ist klein und fein, mit nur sieben Tischen – und genau das macht den Charme aus. Es ist ruhig, gemütlich und persönlich. Wer hier herkommt, sollte nicht ein großes, anonymes Lokal erwarten, sondern ein echtes Herzensprojekt, bei dem mit viel Liebe gekocht und bedient wird. Das Essen war hausgemacht, wahnsinnig lecker und geschmacklich einfach auf den Punkt. Man schmeckt sofort, dass hier mit Qualität und Erfahrung gekocht wird. Small family business with delicious food and great hospitality

Absolute recommendation! Here I ate the best leg of lamb with giant white beans. The garlic bread as a starter is also highly recommended. The dishes have that certain something. Very friendly, attentive and warm family business. Intolerances (e.g. gluten intolerance) are also treated with great understanding. We've been there twice on a short trip to the Harz and will definitely come back when we're in the area. Since the number of tables is limited, be sure to reserve!

Insanely delicious!! The leg of lamb fell right off the bone. Everything taken care of! We will definitely come back here!

We were on a short vacation in Bad Sachsa and had dinner at Helena's. I've eaten a lot of Greek food and this was by far the best!!! The hosts are very, very friendly and attentive and the food is simply delicious from start to finish. We would be happy to come back!
