A true local gem. Consistently excellent Greek food for decades – fresh, authentic, and prepared with love. I particularly appreciate the warm hospitality and attentiveness with which the staff work here. The fact that they don't allocate unlimited tables is, for me, a sign of quality and respect for the guests, as it ensures that the service and cuisine remain at a high level. You can feel that the cooking and catering here is done with true dedication – and that's precisely what makes this place so special.

This cozy restaurant, run by Helena and her son Christos, is truly one of the best Greek restaurants I've ever been to. The food is prepared a la minute using only fresh ingredients. Delicious! And because Helena is in the kitchen and Christos takes care of everything in the restaurant, it's wise to book in advance. Simply walking in and getting a table has a slim chance of success, as they're often fully booked. Avoid disappointment and book a table well in advance. We had a wonderful meal this evening at this romantic little restaurant. The owner was very attentive and enthusiastic about his restaurant, and spoke fondly of his mother. If you plan to dine here, be sure to book in advance to avoid disappointment, as reservations are required.

We had a wonderful Greek meal. The gentleman who served us was incredibly friendly and served us in a cheerful atmosphere. We had an excellent experience, and the prices were very reasonable!

The daily specials, which aren't listed on the menu, are also definitely worth recommending! Value for money: very good and completely justified! Since it's a small, family-run restaurant with limited seating, reservations are highly recommended. This is the best way to ensure service and maintain quality. All in all, a very pleasant evening with excellent food and a warm atmosphere. A visit is definitely worth it!

Well, if you like to eat fresh, like to be treated as a truly valued customer and have a marvelous diner then you have to dine at Helena. This restaurant is run by Helena and her son and boy boy what can she cook. Please do make a reservation because there are only 7 tables. And only cash, but the ATM is just around the corner. If you are in the neighborhood, please thanks the time to reserve a table at Helena’s. You will not regret this.

We went there as a couple and were absolutely thrilled. It has everything you need for a wonderful evening. Very good food, good advice, and correspondingly very good service. You have to make a reservation, but that's perfectly fine; otherwise, this restaurant wouldn't be what it is. Simply fantastic.

You'll receive a very warm welcome here and are immediately on first-name terms. Time permitting, there's always a quick chat. - Very friendly. The food (gyro plate) could be a bit heavier, but the quality is very good. The rice is al dente, the gyro crispy, and the salad crunchy. What a delightful little Greek restaurant! The host is incredibly welcoming; she introduces herself with a handshake and ensures everything runs smoothly. Helena, her mother, is in the kitchen, preparing the delicious meals. There's a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. There are only seven tables, so it's definitely recommended to make a reservation, otherwise you might not be able to find a table. Highly recommended!

A small Greek restaurant, where we had a delicious meal, authentic Greek cuisine, run by Helena, a wonderful cook, and her incredibly hospitable and kind son. Because they run everything together, reservations are essential; everything is freshly made, so they can cater to everyone's needs. We went to Helena's with my parents on June 6th. I reserved a table in advance by phone and learned that the restaurant is run solely by Helena and her son, that it's only open until 9 p.m., and that dogs aren't allowed in the restaurant due to space constraints. This way, there's no room for misunderstandings. I found this very pleasant and was very excited. We were greeted very warmly and shown to our table. The menu offers a good and plentiful selection of delicious dishes. The food arrived quickly and was simply delicious. The portions were sufficiently large and the price-performance ratio is good. The owner is a very pleasant person who also takes the time for a quick chat. We really enjoyed it. If we're in the area again, we'll definitely come back. And now, just a side note: This isn't a place where you can just show up unannounced with 20 people at 8:45 p.m. What restaurant owner wants that? To be able to offer the expected quality, a little planning security is needed. For me, it's simply good manners to announce your arrival in advance. We felt absolutely welcome here. And that's a wonderful feeling. So before anyone complains about being turned away at the door, maybe just think about it and look for good manners! The team at "bei Helena" does everything right for me.

We found the restaurant through Google reviews. The restaurant has a very family-friendly feel, so there are only a few tables available, so a reservation is ABSOLUTELY necessary. Now to the restaurant itself. We were personally greeted by the son and shown to our table. What amazed us was the attentiveness; this is star-level service :) It was also super charming and very friendly, which rounded it all off. The food, prepared personally by Mama, with daily additions to the menu (sometimes a starter, sometimes a main course), is very, very delicious and fresh. You can tell how much love goes into cooking here. All in all, a wonderful evening, delicious food, and second-to-none service. We will DEFINITELY be back!

Our short vacation from June 12-14, 2025 in Bad Sachsa (Family D.) First of all, my warmest regards to your mom and son. You rarely meet such warm-hearted people, who make you feel as if you've known each other forever. 5 stars alone aren't enough for that. Now, let's talk about the food/ambience and service. What can I possibly write that could even do it justice - in our case? It couldn't be bettered: the warmth, the open conversations, the service, and the food itself – it couldn't be topped; in our opinion, it's not even possible. In terms of taste, it was a feast that could neither be surpassed nor topped. Mom's appetizers, which aren't listed on the menu but are offered daily by her son, are simply amazing. The regular dishes from the menu are also plentiful and very delicious in both preparation and taste. Seasoned with the warmth of the innkeeper and his mother, this is a feast. No fancy restaurant can compete with that. Note for guests: Due to certain circumstances, you can't currently dine in; you have to call ahead. But the innkeeper is really trying very hard to make it possible. In our case, we were very lucky because we had already planned to eat there based on the reviews and conversations with people on the street, as well as the proximity to the hotel (Hotel an der Uffe, 50 meters away). We were already sitting in another restaurant in the city center when my wife said, "Just call." We were sad at first when we heard that unfortunately, due to maintenance work and reservations, it wouldn't be possible to eat there. But shortly after, the son (innkeeper) called and told us that there had been a cancellation and we could come after all. We were happy about that alone, and when we received such a warm and welcoming welcome on site, it was a gift in itself. The food itself tops everything, seasoned with the warmth and openness of the owners, it can't be topped; it can't even be rated with stars. But of course, that always depends on how you behave as a guest!!! We ourselves travel with open hearts and respect for others, and everyone should remember one thing, both as guests and as people: "You are treated the way you present yourself." Best wishes again to the mom/host and staff. We will definitely be back, even if it's just for a warm hug. We were incredibly satisfied. Even though all the tables were reserved, they still managed to get us a table for 1.5 hours. The son, who also served us, was super nice and very prompt. We were asked about any food intolerances, which is really rare. We didn't have to wait long for our food and drinks, and the food was amazing. The atmosphere outside was cozy and peaceful. We'd love to come back!

My salad was truly of outstanding quality, the gyros was as soft as butter, the bread was absolutely perfect, and we wished we had packed several portions of Metaxa – simply a dream. And to top it all off: the ouzo! You can taste the love, passion, and the finest ingredients that are cooked here. Every bite was a delight and a reminder of how great Greek cuisine can be. The service was also first-class – attentive, warm, and unobtrusive. This restaurant is a true gem. Anyone who loves authentic Greek food (or is yet to discover it) should not miss this experience. Because of the good reviews we wanted to eat there. First called to see if dogs were welcome. Unfortunately they were not welcome (the reason why not, is very understandable). We could pick up, so ordered on the spot (no online menu). Just a 20 minute wait and our mixed grill was ready. Staff is very friendly. The food was super tasty and more than enough!

Excellent Greek cuisine. The lamb shank sets a whole new standard; tender is a complete understatement. I've never experienced anything like it, even in Greece. Reservations are essential (preferably a week in advance, two weeks for special occasions). There are only seven tables and two staff (one is Helena in the kitchen, the other is her son). They are both very friendly and deeply human.

Rarely eaten sooooooooo fantastically. There were four of us for dinner. We called ahead and booked a table. You should definitely do that so you don't go home sad again. There's definitely really good food here. We had tzaziki, the gratinated sheep's cheese and a recommendation from the cook (leaf spinach, feta and rice in homemade puff pastry). The recommendations vary daily... The main course was 2× gyros gratinated with fries and salad and 2× the “grill plate” with salad and tzatziki. The restaurant is run by mother and son. The mom cooks and does it simply "divinely" and the son is so warm that you don't want to leave again. It was a great final evening and we will definitely come back as soon as we are in the area. Der Service – geführt von Chris – war mit Abstand einer der freundlichsten, die ich je erlebt habe. Man fühlt sich sofort willkommen und rundum wohl. Das Restaurant ist klein und fein, mit nur sieben Tischen – und genau das macht den Charme aus. Es ist ruhig, gemütlich und persönlich. Wer hier herkommt, sollte nicht ein großes, anonymes Lokal erwarten, sondern ein echtes Herzensprojekt, bei dem mit viel Liebe gekocht und bedient wird. Das Essen war hausgemacht, wahnsinnig lecker und geschmacklich einfach auf den Punkt. Man schmeckt sofort, dass hier mit Qualität und Erfahrung gekocht wird. Small family business with delicious food and great hospitality

Absolute recommendation! Here I ate the best leg of lamb with giant white beans. The garlic bread as a starter is also highly recommended. The dishes have that certain something. Very friendly, attentive and warm family business. Intolerances (e.g. gluten intolerance) are also treated with great understanding. We've been there twice on a short trip to the Harz and will definitely come back when we're in the area. Since the number of tables is limited, be sure to reserve!

I had the butter-tender leg of lamb -- incredibly good. My wife had a different dish and a special side salad without lactose. Since my wife also wanted the leg of lamb, we went back a few days later. And the owner even remembered the intolerance. We'll be back next time we're in Bad Sachsa. Really highly recommended!!! Totally cozy, entertaining, accommodating, child-friendly and super friendly. Children were taken care of first so that the wait for their meal wasn't too long, while we adults enjoyed our starter. The food is excellent, I have never eaten Greek so well. Please ignore the 1 star reviews! These are often left as frustration reviews because you are too incompetent to reserve a table. Then you don't have to be surprised if you don't get a spot spontaneously. If you are a non-resident and know that you will be in Bad Sachsa during this period and you want to eat here, then simply reserve a table. We did this too and it was a great evening with very tasty food and great hospitality. The owners (son and mother) know something about their work and are also very warm and friendly. To be honest, I have never experienced such hospitality with such friendliness. The food, dressings and bread are freshly prepared in-house. The food was breathtaking and with the great and cozy atmosphere it was a lovely evening. Here you also have the opportunity as a vegetarian to get delicious food to fill you up. I can only warmly recommend the restaurant Bei Helena! The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, and the food is to die for. The gyros with Metaxa and feta in the oven as well as the rice and fresh salad were really to die for, and the tzatziki with homemade bread was simply incredibly delicious. The service is very, very warm and attentive. We cook with a lot of love here! An absolute must for anyone who wants to enjoy authentic Greek cuisine. We'll definitely be back!

Unfortunately, with a little chat with the nice owner, our lovely evening was over too quickly. Due to the limited number of seats in the restaurant, it is recommended to reserve well in advance. We wanted to have a delicious meal on vacation. You can do that here. The food is very tasty, freshly prepared and fills you up. We had gyros, suflaki, suzuki, tzatziki, herb butter and garlic bread as a starter. It is a small restaurant with a family atmosphere. The service is great. Due to the limited number of tables, we recommend that you simply reserve by telephone in advance. Daily offers, e.g. starters or desserts, are explained and described on site. Everything is very warm and honest, so you just feel welcome. Price/performance ratio is good. We will definitely come back on our next vacation. See you soon :-)

Such a great end to a lovely day of vacation in Bad Sachsa. Warmly welcomed, the 3 grandchildren immediately equipped with extensive painting equipment, the evening developed as one would imagine. Everything was totally relaxed, great service, almost family-like. We felt very comfortable. For food: eaten everything! That says it all. Nice atmosphere, very accommodating Service, very tasty food. It's a shame that we only discovered this small, fine restaurant today.

We were guests on Saturday with 5 people. The quality of the food is fantastic and stands out. The waiter is also very nice. You immediately notice that it is a family-run restaurant. Every time we are in the Harz Mountains.

We had a quiet room, which was okay in size. Unfortunately the mattresses were very sagging and I could feel every single spring. The breakfast was manageable and unfortunately the bread wasn't always fresh. We had dinner once, which was okay. However, I found the price to be quite steep at €19 per person. The staff was consistently friendly. The hotel is quite old and the outdoor area is not very well maintained. There are only three parking spaces directly at the hotel, but there is a large parking lot diagonally opposite the hotel where you can park for a cheap €2 per day.

We were greeted very friendly with a handshake. The service, the ambience and the treatment of the guests was exemplary.
